My answer!
This is between Wind God Girl and anything in EoSD. Both of them suck.
Actually, I'm gonna go with Wind God Girl in this one. Why? Because I even hate every arrange of it. I just can't stand it. Demetori's version makes it barely managable with awesome speed metal, but everything else goddamn it make it stop.
At least some EoSD songs have awesome arranges to go with it. But the originals are just shit.
-
Necrofantasia. Way too much appreciation for something that is essentially tantamount to aural rape.
-
Ohhh, I forgot another answer for yesterday's question. Reimu's PoFV theme, Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path doesn't get enough attention.
EDIT: CHANGING MY ANSWER. Necrofantasia is still in first but REACH FOR THE MOON IMMORTAL SMOKE. My god why does everyone like that song so much. It's decent but people just seem to orgasm on the spot when they hear it :(
Still giving the dishonorable mentions to Bad Apple!! and Tiny Tiny Clever Commander.
-
I would have to say U.N. Owen.
That is the most overrated shit ever. :V
-
Definitely U.N. Owen.
-
'nother vote for U.N. Owen. Not that I don't like it though.
-
U.N. Owen is a good song, but it's overrated.
-
My vote still stands for Wind God Girl, but I won't disagree to U.N Owen though.
Although it counts as an EoSD song so :V
-
I don't find how Wind God Girl is all that overrated. I think it's way better than Mysterious Mountain. ;_; Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon and Doll Judgment would have to get my next vote.
-
Just my opinion. I absolutely LOVE Mysterious Mountain over all other Aya themes. Wind God is just the lowest as I get bored from every note of it (except possibly the intro, which is decent at most).
-
I don't really like answering overrated questions because it really is dependent on the communities that you hang out with. But I think I have to go with Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke.
-
Just my opinion. I absolutely LOVE Mysterious Mountain over all other Aya themes. Wind God is just the lowest as I get bored from every note of it (except possibly the intro, which is decent at most).
I'd have to agree with you. The intro of Wind God Girl is pretty much the good part of it. I've just listened to Mysterious Mountain from MoF WAY, WAY too many times :V
-
Necrofantasia*, Bad Apple!!, Invisible Full Moon, Heian Alien.
* because everyone knows Necro-Fantasy is superior
-
Yeah, Mokou's theme is fairly repetitive.
Unlike most of you, I like Wind God Girl(intro is the best, but I still love the rest of the song) and don't like Mysterious Mountain. So my picks are Reach for the Moon and Mysterious Mountain.
And Necrofantasia is great. You know how long it took me to get to Yukari at all? Hearing that delicious aural rape was the best possible thing for the OMGWTF boss of most of Touhou.
-
REACH FOR THE MOON IMMORTAL SMOKE. My god why does everyone like that song so much. It's decent but people just seem to orgasm on the spot when they hear it :(
I love you.
-
Torchlight - it'll eat whole days!
What is your favorite theme from Mystic Square?
GO PLAY THE PC-98 GAMES ALREADY
I easily give this to Maple Wise, the theme is so incredibly beautiful and amazing that it easily rocks this. HMs to Infinite Being and Alice in Wonderland.
-
Alice in Wonderland. This is supposed to be hard?
Honorable mentions to Dream Express, Infinite Being, Romantic Children, and Forbidden Magic.
-
Grimoire, since it's the only song I've ever actually heard. >_>
-
Gonna go with Plastic Mind.
-
uh...Alice in Wonderland
-
Infinite Being , Romantic Children and the Grimoire of Alice
Although I didn't like Infinite Being intro much...
-
Alice in Wonderland and Romantic Children.
Why must Alice's themes be so good :V
Honorable mention to Doll of Misery.
-
No songs from Mystic Square really stand out to me that much. Though the Grimoire of Alice did get a good remix in Hisoutensoku.
But uh, Alice in Wonderland and Spiritual Heaven aren't too bad.
-
Spiritual Heaven
I...but...you...what??
-
Romantic Children.
I would like Grimoire more if only I could last more than ten seconds against EX-Alice.
-
Oh darn. This is... really hard.
I mean, Romantic Children is great. But then, Alice in Wonderland is even better. Doll of Misery and Grimoire of Alice are awesome too. Note how 3 of these are Alice-related, and the other one even has the word "Doll".
I can't pick between them... its different kinds of music, I can't rate them against each other. They have different styles and emotions about them, they're all wonderful in their own manner.
-
I...but...you...what??
Spiritual Heaven ain't bad, it's just overshadowed by nearly every song in MS. Same deal as Dark Side of Fate.
-
I will resist the urge to troll the topic and say merely that I find Spiritual Heaven to be one of the worst pieces ZUN has ever composed.</offtopic>
-
Grimoire and Magic Square. :V
-
Mugetu and Gengetu's Themes.
What is your favorite theme from Mystic Square?

Mystic Square?
RAAAAAAA
-
RAAAAAAA
Crap.... :-[
-
Crimson Dead obviously Doll of Misery :V
HMs to:
Romantic Children
Forbidden Magic
Grimoire of Alice
in that order.
-
Infinite Being by a fairly wide margin. And that's saying a lot, since MS's soundtrack is one of my favorites.
Oh, and I forgot to mention for yesterday's topic; Alice in Wonderland is way overrated too. ^_^
-
Probably The Last Judgement.
-
Alice in Wonderland and Romantic Children.
Why must Alice's themes be so good :V
-
Maple Wise
-
Romantic Children. HMs to Forbidden Magic and Grimoire of Alice.
-
Grimoire of Alice.
Because there are only three PC-98 themes I really like and this is one of them.
-
Wondrous Romance ~ Mystic Square.
I'm sure everyone stays on the main menu screen for that.
-
Magic Formation ~ Magic Square. :V
-
Magic Formation ~ Magic Square. :V
That ear rape theme of Sara ? Eh...
Alice In Wonderland for me
-
ROMANTIC CHILDREN
No fucking contest. HM to Alice in Wonderland and Grimoire of Alice. Really, Alice's themes and Alice herself are the winners of this game.
-
Grimoire of Alice followed by Infinite Being. The rest sucks :V
-
Romantic Children
HM: Alice in Wonderland
I used to think PC-98 themes can't be that great but I realised I was wrong after I listened to Romantic Children, Alice in Wonderland (And Lost Dream). :V
-
Infinite Being! :V
-
Doll of Misery.
2nd place goes to Romantic Children.
-
That ear rape theme of Sara ?
WHAT?!
...Ahem. Anyway...
This probably goes to Forbidden Magic. Honorable mention goes to Magic Square, definitely Plastic Mind, and Doll of Misery. No, not Infinite Being, and not Grimoire of Alice. Maybe Alice in Wonderland though...
Oh, and Spiritual Heaven is awesome too, what the heck is wrong with you shim? <_<
-
Alice in Wonderland by a narrow margin.
Special underrated HM to Dimension of Reverie. Tempted to go back and change my underrated vote to this...
Regular HMs to Plastic Mind, Maple Wise, and Treacherous Maiden ~ Judas Kiss (because I'm just crazy like that :V)
-
Infinite Being
MS Extra
-

I play with Next ze.
-
Best rack in Mystic Square? Grimoire of Alice, hands down.
Infinite Beings pretty nice too, but GoA is just great
-
Best rack in Mystic Square?
This misspelling made me laugh much more than it has a right to.
-
Best rack in Mystic Square is Sara, the only PC-98 character to actually have visible breasts in her ZUNart (though Yuka looks like she isn't completely flat either).
-
Best rack in Mystic Square is Shinki. The rest of you are heathens.
-
Best rack in Mystic Square?

(on the left, obviously)
-
Infinite Being, Alice in Wonderland, Grimoire of Alice and (HOW DID YOU HERETICS FORGET) Peaceful Romancer
-
No, I will not ask it!
What is your favorite track from Unthinkable Natural Law?
This is quite tough, actually; UNL had some stellar stuff. I think I will, very narrowly, give this to The Eternal Steam Engine, with Our Hisou Tensoku and The Scenery of Living Dolls both clsoe behind, and more HMs to FANTASY HEAVEN and Cirno and Alice's new remixes..
-
Dichromatic Butterfly and Unfound Adventure
-
Tommorow Will Be Sunny, Yesterday Was Not
It's not as good as the original, but it's still amazing.
-
Probably the remix of Faith is for the Transient People.
-
Mystic Oriental Love Consultation.
You know it to be true.
-
Now this is a much harder question than best track in SWR, because this game is the exact opposite in that almost every single track blew me away.
I...can't answer this one. It really depends on arbitrary mood swings. Sometimes it's Faith is For the Transient People, sometimes it's Chinese Tea, sometimes it's Nuclear Fusion, sometimes it's Tomorrow Will Be Special, sometimes it's The Eternal Steam Engine. I cannot pick any one of these five as better than the rest. D:
-
Eternal Steam Engine has to be the best original theme from Hisoutensoku, with Unknown X ~ Unfound Adventure close behind. The Scenery of Living Dolls is so ironic when played when it is, but it's still awesome nonetheless. And an honorable mention to X, the Floating Objects in the Sky just because.
As for remixes, I never really like the remixes from the fighting games, but if I have to choose, then it'll be Voile, the Magic Library.
On another note, does anybody else think the openings to Chinese Tea and SWR's Mystic Oriental Love Consultation are a bit similar?
-
Our Hisou Tensoku. \o\ This song is one of several reasons I 1cc'd the game with Meiling rather than Cirno. As for the battle themes, I'll go with Chinese Tea.
-
The Eternal Steam Engine.
/inb4ruro
-
Our Hisou Tensoku, The Eternal Steam Engine and Unfound Adventure.
As for remixes, I'll go with the Grimiore of Alice, with HM's to Beloved Tomboyish Girl and Chinese Tea. :dragonforce:
-
Most of the remixes sound jazzy and/or megaman-ish. As such this is a very difficult choice.
Either Faith is for the Transient People, Unknown X, Chinese Tea, or Dichromatic Butterfly.
-
Faith is for the Transient People. HM to Tomorrow Will be Sunny, Yesterday Was Not.
Eternal Steam Engine doesn't sound that special to me, sadly.
-
Tomorrow Will Be Special, Yesterday Was Not. HMs to Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly & Faith is for the Transient People.
-
Mystic Oriental Love Consultation (End of Century version)
I like that Fantasy Heaven :V
-
Today's topic reminded me I barely knew the music past the opening theme which reminds me so much of Wild Arms and thus is immediately awesome.
/runs to Youtube playlists
-
Unknown X
catfishcatfishcatfishcatfishcatfishcatfishcatfishcatfish
-
Best original song is Eternal Steam Engine by a long shot. HM to Scenery of Living Dolls.
For remixes, I can't NOT give this to Faith is for Transient People. <3
HM to Grimoire of Alice, though.
-
Heh, will this is a choice between Faith is for the Transient People, Chinese Tea, and Voile (Hell yeah it sounds better than the IaMP version!). All three are fucking awesome in UNL.
-
Eternal Steam Engine
-
Best Original: TIE!
Did you See that Shadow? (song needs more love) and Eternal Steam Engine
Best Remix:
Tomorrow Will be Special; Yesterday was Not (not a big fan of Faith :-\)
Honorable Mentions:
Scenery of Living Dolls Shanghai Teahouse ~ Chinese Tea, Mystic Oriental Love Consultation
-
Best Original: TIE!
Did you See that Shadow? (song needs more love) and Eternal Steam Engine
Hahaha! Now that the OST is out, I change my vote to "A Huge Shadow and a Tiny Conclusion"! Why? Because it's "Did You See that Shadow" and "Eternal Steam Engine" in ONE!
-
Now that the OST is out, I'm changing my vote to Unfound Adventure (Arrange) for being one of the best remixes I've heard all year. It's like ten times better than the original.
-
/inb4ruro
Damn you.
And yes, The Eternal Steam Engine made me nearly collapse in orgasm the first time I heard it. (This is a slight exaggeration, but only slight).
If I had to pick something else, though, it'd be Jazzy Tomboyish Girl.
-
Grimoire of Alice and Nuclear Fusion stand out to me.
-
Ska rendition of Cirno's theme? Yes please
-
Everything? Grimoire of Alice, Faith is for the Transient People, Our Hisou Tensoku.
edit: Suwako's last spell theme is also nice, even if it is basically a short loop with very, very minor variations here and there.
-
Tough, tough, tough question. I'd probably have to say Unfound Adventure, but lots of the new songs are really good.
-
Its been a long time since i played that miserability (maybe-maybe not miserable. I was just told it is).
Ehmm... Sanae or that Adventure X whatever it was called.
-
What's Unthinkable Natural Law?
the Grimoire of Alice. Oh god, the Grimoire of Alice.
-
MR. ZIRCON DOES NOT COME IN PEACE.
Who is your favorite character from Imperishable Night?
As with all questions, all rationales are acceptable. I have incredible ease handing this one to Mokou, she's easily one of my favorite characters in the series on pretty much all accounts. HM goes to Keine (who is awesome) and Mystia gets a lesser one.
Also note this one includes Reimu and Marisa, as they are bosses! So if you really hate everyone, there's a cheap option out. :V
-
Original: Eternal Steam Engine, hands down.
Remixes: Chinese Tea, Grimoire of Alice, Jazzy Tomboyish Girl and Okuu's theme (Solar Nuclear Mystic Wind Sect... something like that).
Faith/Sunny are both great tracks but they weren't blood-pumping fighting music that I often go for in, well, fighting games.
#2 (hurr one minute ninja)
Favored PC: Yuyuko (Whimsical one moment, deathly serious in a spine-tingling way the next when facing Mokou)
Enemy: Hmmmmm. Eirin. Because of her stage music. Voyage 1969 was always one of my favourites.
-
Mokou, primarily after reading her backstory in CiLR. Honorable mention goes to Kaguya.
-
Kaguya.
-
Mokou and Kaguya
-
I've always loved Eirin and her kickass theme.
HM to Wriggle.
-
WRIGGLE NIGHTBUG.
HELL YEAH~!
-
Wriggle is the best~!
-
Mokou, she's awesome.
-
The definite answer is Fujiwara no Mokou.
-

All other answers are bannable offenses. Obviously kidding >_>
-
(http://i.imagehost.org/0286/78463.jpg)
I'm just going to leave this image here. It certainly isn't an answer to the question in #86 which would otherwise get me banned.
-
(http://i47.tinypic.com/25gqip4.jpg)
By far the only good thing to come out of IN, although Plain Asia's pretty cool. Mokou, Eirin, Wriggle and Kaguya are dull, Keine's alright I guess, Tei and Mystia are my two most absolutely-hated characters in the series.
Ironically enough Reisen is one of my favorites!
-
Ahh, Mokou, I would get permabanned from the internets for you~
-
I'm just going to leave this image here. It certainly isn't an answer to the question in #86 which would otherwise get me banned.
This is an excellent picture and an excellent answer.
-

Keine FTW
-
EIRIN FO' LIFE BRAH
(don't ban me brah T_T)
-
(http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/701/keineteacher.jpg)
Reisen is a close second, but it's Keine that speaks to my love of history.
-
Reisen and Wriggle.
-
wriggle
-
Tie between Wriggle and Mokou. WONDER TOMBOY POWERS, ACTIVATE
-
Reisen by a clear margin, though Eirin and Kaguya get honorable mentions.
-
Mystia, Kaguya, Eirin and Reisen.
Not really a big fan of Keine/Mokou :<
-
Tewi Mokou and Reisen
-
Yuyuko and Alice Mystia and Keine
-
All other answers are bannable offenses
I pick Reisen. ;)
No, really - i like that bunny.
Aside from her it would be Mokou.
-
This is really hard, I like every IN character except one...
Keine, I'd say. She has both creative danmaku and a likable 'village teacher' personality.
HM to Reisen. She would be tied with Keine if it wasn't for her fanon depiction as a sexy bunny girl. Really, fanon? Really?
-
Ah this is hard. Mostly because none of them are top 20 worthy.
But I like Mokou for her badass personality or Reisen for her "most sane" personality compared to other characters.
But between the two, I'd go with Mokou.
-
These answers are starting to make me wonder if Ruro (or whoever told her about it) was onto something with the "Mokou = InuYasha" comparison. >_>
-
Eirin is the only IN character who isn't either absolutely bland or thoroughly annoying.
-
Maris- ...Wait, nevermind, don't wanna just be cheap because she's one of my favorite characters ever :V
Um... Maybe Keine, or Mokou? Both are pretty awesome. Honorable mention to Mystia.
And of course, I always have to toss in a dishonorable mention to Reimu.
-
Not Eirin.
-
Kaguya!
-
These answers are starting to make me wonder if Ruro (or whoever told her about it) was onto something with the "Mokou = InuYasha" comparison. >_>
I have never heard of this before... What is it all about, exactly?
-
Mokou, I guess.
Next topic - best touhou game of 20-*shot*
-
Undefined Fantastic Object, obviousl- *shot*
-
Oh! Right, it's my turn (tomorrow) again after all these weeks. Waiting the 26 hours.
Anyway, to answer the current question; Mystia. Then Reisen. If only because I love "Tele-Mesmerism" that much
.
-
I have never heard of this before... What is it all about, exactly?
I told Kilga about it before, so let me explain.
Seeing Mokou was like seeing a roleplay character I've already seen a thousand times over the last few years in chatrooms and forums around the internet.
Red eyes = Badass
White hair = Badass
Immortal/Ridiculously long life (but looks 15) = Standard/Badass
Fire = Badass
Loner = Badass
Combine them all = Fail.
I hold that maybe, just maybe, ZUN made her because he thought his fans wanted an InuYasha clone except sacrifice the ears and sword for immortality and fire, respectively. Even if this isn't true, I'll still take a werecow over a Gaia cliche any day.
At the same time, I don't want to derail the topic, so next question please o/
-
Damn you, internet, work!
What is your favorite attack in the fighters?
Any attack/spell card/etc. goes for this. Personally, I'm a big fan of Reisen's upgraded 22C; does wonders in story mode and is just cool to go with it.
-
Suwako 5C because it's fun launch people with a giant hand.
-
UNL's Fantasy Heaven, because FUCK YEAH ONE-HIT KO WITH 15K+ DAMAGE AND MYSTICAL ORIENTAL LOVE CONSULTATION GOING IN THE BACKGROUND YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH MOTHERFUCKER DIE
... it makes me feel badass. :dragonforce:
-
Um... The spellcard where a column of red light appears from Remilia? Or if that doesn't count... Remi's basic combo...? ._. *doesn't really play the fighting games much at all*
-
Scarlet Weather Rapture. 5k damage and activates almost instantly :V
HM to Illusionary Dominance for being cool.
-
Four-way Tie between Perverse Love "Easy Harvest Master Spark", FANTASY HEAVEN , Namazu Catfish's Greatest Earthquake, and Flowery Sign "Colorful Light Lotus Palm".
-
LOLIBALL
Missing Purple Power
-
Remilia's Demonlord Walk! Fast forward grazing attack with one and two hit versions for keeping people guessing and it's really fast and moves far and chains well and it's awesome and ahsjavdhjsvdaf
Edit: Also, Youmu's five card counter 'Heaven Viewing Sword "Slash of Clearing the Six Senses"'. Looks great, does great damage and is really exciting due to the gigantic risk involved; the best moment I've had playing this game was my Youmu against a friend's Yuyuko near the end of a match. He was spamming projectiles, and at a sliver of health remaining I grazed through right near to him and used the counter as soon as I was clear of the bullets. He fell for it. :D
-
GREAT CATFISH Remilia's Vampire Kiss.
HM to Patchouli's UNL Silent Selene for being awesome, and Suwako's Water Frog God alt214 for being absolutely adorable.
-
Player attack: Massacre at Mt. Ooe.
Weak American damage. REAL SOVIET DAMAGE. Screw the fact that you'll never pull it off ever. Honorable mention to Thousand Cherry Blossoms for helping me to 1cc SWR lunatic because it's a spell card that you can get hit during and it will still activate.
Enemy spell card: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody of all Mankind. If all fighting games had a final attack like this I'd be more willing to try them. Honorable mention to Yakumo's Nest simply because Yukari's sprite during it makes me gush from the mastermind moe.
-
Reisen's alt 623 that actually functions as something slightly resembling AA.
-
Hmm...
I love Komachi's boat ramming. Sure, they're easy to see coming but it's just too priceless to ram people in a boat. Also a bit of mind games with the other boat spell that makes spirits flood in.
Also love Reisen's Mind Starmine, sure it's not too effective but it's cool looking.
-
Lotus Flower Palm
Level 2 Youhou
Level 1 Youhou (Manly Space Punch)
Patche's 623 delayed swords (though useless)
SKY DRAGON KICK
Duplex Danmaku Bounded Field
Subterranean Sun
-
Non-card: Flesh Dismantler (Yukari alt-421). While her default 421 is more effective, it's hard to dispute the brilliance/stylishness of a teleporting dark parasol buzzsaw. HMs to Fortune Slip Bomb (Sanae default-22), Spread Amulet (Reimu alt-236), Disorder Eye (Reisen alt-22) and Hell's Wave Motion Gun (Utsuho alt-22).
Card: Illusionary Dominance (Aya lev 5). Few things in UNL are as satisfying as catching someone with this and manually striking them to the apex of the screen before the final hit. HMs to Blowing Ice "Ice Tornado" (Cirno lev 4), Obsessor "Slash of Eternity" (Youmu lev 5), Flower Sign "Colorful Light Lotus Flower Palm" (Meiling lev 5) and Atomic Fire "Uncontainable Nuclear Reaction Dive" (Utsuho lev 4).
-
Yesterday's question: Mokou or Keine
Today's: Elekiter Dragon Palace AKA Saturday Night Fever
-
*gap opens*
daaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
*A FUCKING TRAIN RUNS YOU OVER*
I mean, yeah, it's not that great but I just LOVE that spellcard, not to mention when I actually manage to do it in UNL and finish off my opponent with it. It gives me so much satisfaction.
-
I hate fighters
-
Elekiter Dragon Palace AKA Saturday Night Fever
-
Corner Iku's 5C/Alice's f.5A 6A in Diamond Dust~
For spellcards :
ROYAL FLARE FTW
Lotus Flower Palm , nice KO
Sure-Fire Master Spark , 8k damage in Drizzle
-
Player attack: Massacre at Mt. Ooe.
This, because I can actually pull this off in player v. player matches :V (I do this quite a few times as a finisher)
-
Drinking four eirin brand dose elixirs
-
Damn you, internet, work!
What is your favorite attack in the fighters?
Any attack/spell card/etc. goes for this. Personally, I'm a big fan of Reisen's upgraded 22C; does wonders in story mode and is just cool to go with it.
Yukari's SWR Bewitching Bait and j.5a as well as her IaMP lasers where she freezes in place before they appear for having cool sound effects. Also, anything Meiling does is manly and awesome.
Oh right, and train, for being humorous and useful.
-
Favorite attack in the fighters, eh?
I've only played SWR and UNL, but I'd have to say Reimu's crazy border one.
See 2:53 here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ9WmE_mTZY).
It's pretty fun to dodge, and it fits Reimu nicely.
If you mean player attacks, then Marisa's super ramming attack where you press -> and Z. Melee-ing Aya with this and dashing all over is fun~
-
(http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/56/iamplun1cc.jpg) (http://img442.imageshack.us/i/iamplun1cc.jpg/)
-
Heaven Viewing Sword "Slash of Clearing the Six Senses"
I'm just love counter supers.
-
Wow, I lost consciousness at the computer from the heat. Never thought that would happen.
Reimu's Rising / Ascension Kick. That is, 623 A/B/C (varies by game).
...dammit, the list of asked questions is getting long. Running out of ideas.
What is your most favorite Extra Boss Final Attack(s) / Spell Card(s)?
The word "Attack" is to cater for PC-98. The "(s)" is to cater for the people who can't decide between two or more. Not that I'm calling people out on it :V :V :V
Now excuse me while I go and try and cool off before I lose consciousness again.
-
Gengetsu Rape Time :V
HM to QED, Danmaku Bounded Field and Mishaguji-sama.
-
Um... Ran's I guess. It's one of only three that I've actually managed to face :V Honestly, nothing really stands out to me.
-
Alice's.
-
Danmaku Bounded Field, yeeeah! I think that everything past Th08 doesn't have particularly awesome final EX-boss attacks, and Ex-Alice's final is actually one of her least interesting attacks IMO, I love basically everything else in her fight.
HM to Evil Eye Sigma's last phase for DON'T STOP MOVING OMG WATCH OUT FFFFFF-, and Ran's final card (along with Yukari's nearly identical(?) version). Because standing still while a cloud of bullets flies by is awesome, especially when you have to make your own safespot (and often can't, resulting in "how the eff do I dodge this D:")
-
Shikigami "Wizard Fox Thoughts"
When everyone reaches this card for the first time, they go WHOAOMGOMG BOMBOMBOMB. And then you figure it out. How easy it is, so easy that you don't even have to look, you can just watch the patterns and listen. And what happens after the card is perfect. Ran drops you a 1-up piece. It's like a welcome. You've passed her first trick and are now worthy- and now let the true battle begin!
HM to:
Shikigami "Banquet of 12 General Gods"
Because I keep giggling at the thought of 'dodge towards the 12th general god in the bottom-right'.
Illusion God "Descent of Izuna Gongen"
For being one of the most popular 'WTF WHY YOU THROW ALL THAT SHIT AT ME FOR' screenshots.
-
Danmaku Bounded Field never stood out to me much because by the time I actually beat Yukari I had already captured the "upgraded" version in IN. :(
I'll go with...Subterranean Rose, I guess. I love the Koishi battle in general (my favorite boss fight in the series <3), while none of the other bosses' final cards really stand out to me much. I also have never gotten past Nue's second card, and haven't played any PC-98 Extras beyond MS, where I've gotten past Alice's second phase once.
-
Shikigami "Wizard Fox Thoughts"
What is your most favorite Extra Boss Final Attack(s) / Spell Card(s)?
<_<
-
IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT, STAY OUT OF THE COMPUTER ROOM! :dragonforce:
Gengetu Rape Time, easily. If you don't count timeout attacks, Descent of Izuna Gongen. It's a little on the easy side compared to Border of Life and Death, but the concept is something I always wanted to see in a game: An attack that starts out simple, gradually adds on layers, and keeps at it until eventually you're dodging for your life. Have I mentioned Ran is what addicted me to Touhou?
-
Mokou's Imperishable Shooting is probably my favorite because it looks amazing, with Suwako's Mishaguji-sama coming in second for being beautiful, deadly, and simple all at the same time.
Honorable mention to Danmaku Bounded Field, because it's also pretty cool, although I don't like it as much because it's all memorization.
-
<_<
Shh I'm learning :(
-
Scourge Sign "Mishaguji-sama"
-
5. Ultimate Buddhist for being one of the few neat things in a post-game run I otherwise have zero interest in going through, as well as being a rare instance of aesthetic beauty via lasers and not bullets.
4. Danmaku Chimera for being probably the cleverest non-gimmick gimmick (if that makes any sense) I've ever seen in an extra stage.
3. Flaw of Forgiving Shrine for being a non-gimmick straight-up dodger that I can actually do. I think it was the first extra card I sight-capped. <3
2. Seven Stones and Seven Trees for the same reasons as Flaw of Forgiving Shrine except it's a bit harder (and thus more thrilling).
1. Pandemonium for being balls-to-the-wall hard for all the right reasons.
-

What is your most favorite Extra Boss Final Attack
>.> I guess Pandemonium counts though.
-
Q.E.D. for being incredibly simple in concept (expanding circles of bullets that crisscross yay?) and yet becoming incredibly batshit once Flandre's HP gets low.
-
Descent of Izuna Gongen. Honestly, most of the final cards are meh to me though.
-
For the favorite attack one, I would have to say Alice's Alt.22B/C, Seeker Wire. Its just too satisfying getting someone stuck in a net of that. Special note for that for using the doll strings. HM to Focus Power "Trip Wire" for also using the same mechanic, and to Patchys Philosopher Stone, just for being awesome.
For the Extra Stage Spellcard question, I would have to say Moukus first one, Limiting Edict "Tsuki no Iwakasa's Curse" if only for being the only card that I cant catch that she has that I still find fun. Disoherable mentions to Hollow Giant "Woo" just because I hate it and cant catch it ever
-
EES' suicide laser!
Grudge Bow. Maybe I'm biased, but it just seems great all around; the way the lasers get fired upwards into the sky before descending to wreak havoc gives an awesome sense of impending doom, the actual danmaku is gimmick free and relies on pure dodging skill, and the random nature keeps it challenging and exciting for repeat playthroughs without ever screwing you over Peerless Wind God-style. Q.E.D. and Pandemonium come close for similar reasons, but Grudge Bow has the flashiness and is just plain more fun to attempt, so Nue wins this one. :V
-
Danmaku Bounded Field.
-
Grudge Bow for gimmick-free danmaku dodging goodness. HM to
Descent of Izuna Gongen Boundary of Life and Death.
-

<_< How the heck do so many people miss the "final" in "What is your favorite Extra boss final attack"?
-
Goliath Doll, those last 10 seconds are intense.
HM to Gengetu Rape Time.
-
<_< How the heck do so many people miss the "final" in "What is your favorite Extra boss final attack"?
When I posted my answer, Baity's post looked like this:
What is your most favorite Extra Boss Final Attack(s) / Spell Card(s)?
The phrase "Final Attack" is to cater for PC-98.
I assumed the "Final" in "Final Attack" applied only to the term "Final Attack" given the PC-98 clarification (and thus did not imply "Final Spell Card") and that the question just meant any ol' special bullet pattern in an Extra.
Given the change, my answer of Pandemonium remains the same. I have yet to see another final extra spell card I have enjoyed.
-
ran is awesome....
just thought i'd point that out...
-
I'd put Boundary of Life and Death here, but given the conditions, I'll have to go with the slightly less awesome Descent of Izuna Gongen.
Dishonourable Mention to Evil Stare "Self Destruction Laser". (If you don't know, don't ask.)
-
I never played an Extra Stage enough times to beat it .-.
-
I never played an Extra Stage enough times to beat it .-.
*
-
Which is Pandemonium from? Shoot the Bullet?
Anyway, I've never beaten a single Extra, so I don't really have an answer...
Evil Stare "Self Destruction Laser"
I think we need specification for whether or not fangame stuff counts for dailies not specifically about them...
-
I think we need specification for whether or not fangame stuff counts for dailies not specifically about them...
I think some people need to stop pretending PC-98 doesn't exist
-
Poking my head in to say I can't post tonight, so next poster gets it in four hours. Enjoy!
-
Okay then~
-
What Kilga said. Pandemonium is fuckawesome.
An especially honorable mention goes to Grudge Bow, though, because it's like a throwback to StB, which is far and away my favourite Touhou game. It's the one thing I can unequivocally like about Nue. No gimmicks, no trickery, and like Pandemonium, it's difficult and tough for all the right reasons. I freakin' love it.
-
Koishi's because of the giant worm thing
-
Koishi's because of the giant worm thing
They're Roses fyi.
And...I dunno. Like I said before, whatever I can dodge.
-
Yeah, I accidentally put the starting - " - in front of final instead of attack, which led to quite a bit of confusion. Probably because I accidentally pluralized the word "words" and my mind just followed it through. I personally blame myself for not proofreading it before. Anyway...
I'm going to say "GRT" (obviously). Though, doing "Mishaguji-sama" No Vert and nearly surviving the last phase without being hit also increased my respect for the Spell Card by a lot.
Also, the question should be coming up either now, or really soon if you want it "on time" :V
/me makes gestures
-
:dragonforce: :V
I'll mention Yukari's gap hax spell card with lots of colors and stuff.
GAP HAX.
-
I think some people need to stop pretending PC-98 doesn't exist
PC-98 has spellcards now? When did this happen? =V
-
Oooh GRT is awesome :D
-
Alright, clearly ShiningDrake isn't going to deliver, so it's time for another one of those questions only I would ask:
Who is your favorite character from HRtP?
Ya heard me. >:(
Mine is Konngara, who is so badass she single-handedly inspired me to get into PC-98. Honorable mention is the yin yang orb, who is quite a free spirit.
EDIT: Okay, not counting Reimu. >_>
-
...what is HRtP?
>_>
er... Reimu >_>
-
Reimu. Then Yuugen Magan. Everything else is pretty down there.
-
Reimu. Then Yuugen Magan. Everything else is pretty down there.
-
Reimu
-
I guess I should have said "exclusive to HRtP." >_>
And yes, I'm aware I'm probably the only person to have given a personality to everyone in that game.
-
I guess I should have said "exclusive to HRtP." >_>
Dammit, there goes Mima.
Sariel then.
-
I guess I should have said "exclusive to HRtP." >_>
You realize that makes this a very exclusionary question, then, right? Not too many people have played HRtP, after all.
-
I haven't played it.
But I like Konngara's design.
-
You realize that makes this a very exclusionary question, then, right? Not too many people have played HRtP, after all.
I do, but even the one who asks obscure questions runs out of ideas, yes?
-
I guess I should have said "exclusive to HRtP." >_>
And yes, I'm aware I'm probably the only person to have given a personality to everyone in that game.
Uhhh...Sariel...I think...
-
Kikuri, hands down. Even though "it" killed me about a thousand times on Easy.
-
I forgot that I was going to ask the question >_< If he hadn't said "in four hours" I would have just asked it immediately, but sadly, I was forced to have time to forget <_< >_> Was gonna ask about least favorite stage 3 theme...
Anyway, as far as the question that DID end up being asked, Sariel I guess.
-
(http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/1975/587224.th.jpg) (http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/1975/587224.jpg)
Shingyoku, definitely. A split personality male/female hybrid character would make an unusual & interesting addition to Touhou fanon. Also, the girl side is hot.
(http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/8004/2483467.th.jpg) (http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/8004/2483467.jpg)
A very minor HM to Kurumi Elis.
-
ELIS!!!
-
Screw you and your "Reimu doesn't count" rule, she looked totally awesome on the score screen at the end of the game. >=V
-
Probably Kikuri
because she's the only HRtP character I know.
-
Prob Elis. I don't know/care for anyone else, nor do I care about this game at all.
-
Konngara for being a very interactive boss.
HM to Sariel.
-
Probably the Eternal Shrine Maiden~
-
Konngara, of course.
-
Shingyoku, and then probably Kikuri.
-
Shingyoku, and then probably Kikuri.
This.
-
Yesterday - GRT. What, is this supposed to be hard?
Today - I suppose Elis, but the answer is really nobody. Also, tHRtP is a DUMB GAME.
ANNOUNCEMENT!
I'm going home on Tuesday the 5th until January the 17th. Weekends, the 5th, and the 17th, I'm out. I have no idea about any other days; I suspect I may be able to post some but not others (I have a desktop in my dorm, so my internet access is going to be sporadic at absolute best). If someone wants to take over for the full twelve days, they're more than welcome, just try not to miss a day. (Frankly, I'm impressed with myself for not missing anything yet :V)
-
Wow. Wow.
This question is damn hard. They are all awesome, but...
Oh well, just let it be a tie between Sariel and Konngara.
Honourable Mention to Kikuri for introducing the first complex danmaku pattern to the touhou series (her first attack phase).
-
I seriously do not care about almost everyone in this game, but the sole exception to that is Elis. I find the little star tattoo below her left eye to be incredibly moe.
-
Hmm. I hardly know HRtP or any of the characters in it, so ill go with Sariel since I like her design
-
Blaaaagh
What is your least favorite stage in the Touhou Project?
This one is TOUGH. There are an awful lot of stages I detest. I'm probably going to have to give this one to UFO Stage 3, for being such incomparable BS (though right now stages 4 and 5 both want pieces of it), and an obligatory HM to SoEW Extra and to MoF Stage 1.
-
You've already asked this one. :V I'm sure of it.
But to repeat myself, HRtP stage 17 Jigoku route. Piece. Of. Shit.
-
SA Extra.
-
You've already asked this one. :V I'm sure of it.
I'm sure of it as well considering I remember Donut's answer. I don't remember mine, though :V
-
It is not on the list and I don't remember doing so. But hey, you try remembering every question. There have been quite a few, now.
-
It is not on the list and I don't remember doing so.
And I couldn't find it as well so yeah I think it wasn't asked after all. No idea what other question could have "Jigoku 17" as an answer, though. ???
Mine is PCB 4, by the way.
-
Found it. o/
http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=3986.msg201664#msg201664
-
Hmm... probably PCB Stage 4. It's just... not enjoyable.
-
PCB STAGE 6. I'm serious.
DHM to UFO Stage 3 and SA Stage 5. They have similar post-midboss autobomb section spam.
-
UFO Stage 3. Eww
-
Hm... EoSD stage 2. Fuck it, seriously. >_>;
-
SA stage 3 and UFO stage 3
-
MoF Stage 4, obvious
-
PCB Stage 4. I love the music, but I can't stand playing through that long ass stage...
-
Obviously any of the EoSD stages.
At least I enjoy SOME of the things of all the other stages in the Windows games. Not counting PC-98 games as I don't remember them much.
-
Lol I love stage 4 PCB :S
Probably UFO 3 or SA 5 as least favorite
-
PCB stage 4. Longgggg.
-
EoSD Stage 4 , boring...
-
UFO Stage 4
HMs to EoSD stage 4 and UFO stage 5
UFO stage 4 is random trajectoried bullet hell, and here's how random bullets work.
The line is the trajectory the bullet follows.
-
MOF Stage 4.
-
EoSD stage 2
-
UFO Extra, stage part. Love the music, and Nue's fight is good, but the stage is sdhksdkfdskjsas.
-
UFO Stage 1 and 2, can't choose between them. Both are far, far too hard considering where they're placed in the game. On top of that, Stage 2 is utterly boring, as the easy stage section is mostly just a case of 'wait for the static bullets to go away, shoot some of the enemies that follow you around and pose no threat to you until close because they will spawn bullets on you, repeat', with some simple streaming thrown around. Stage 1 is slightly more interesting, but still not great, and although this is admittedly completely subjective, after over four hundred attempts in a row I am utterly sick of the sight of that goddamn mouse and her pendulum guards. <_<
-
Just like last time, UFO Extra. Absolute worst stage in the series.
DHM to UFO Stage 2 for being so utterly boring and Kogasa so utterly bullshit.
-
It has to be SoEW Extra. Followed by most PCB and UFO stages.
-
EoSD stage 1 for bad music, bad design, bad background and a bad boss.
It's pretty bad.
-
UFO everything.
-
UFO Stage 1/5.
Don't see what's so bad about stage 2. Most stage 2s are pretty bland, but the post-midboss spam is entertaining at least.
-
MoF Stage 2.
It's 5 minutes of tap tap tap right tap tap tap left.
-
SA Stage 1 :(
-
SA Stage 5 and UFO Extra
That damn cat and that damn umbrella...
-
I was going to restate my answer of UFO Everything, but then I remembered MS stage 4. White bullets against a light blue-white background is not my idea of a good time. And those stupid white pinwheel things always run into me. :/
-
induringufohaet
My answer:SA Extra.
-
Nazrin isn't that annoying..After a couple tries UFO stage one is rather easy now. What gets me is stage 2...Kogasa is the most overpowered umbrella in the history of mankind. Speaking of overpowered, SA stagge 3 is mega laser fest for me.
A bitg part about surviving Touhou is to not panic.
-
zzzz...wha...top'c...?...ohyeah...mmmff...
What is your favorite theme from Story of Eastern Wonderland?
Obscurity! And an intent to punish people by making them play SoEW! Anyway, I give this easily to Himorogi, Burn in Violet, because it's great, and just about everything else in SoEW is not.
-
Extra Love. Name says it all.
EDIT: Won't be around next Friday.
-
Forest of Tohno. I have a belief that I am the only person in the world who likes this song, and it happens to be my favorite ending theme.
-
Forest of Tohno. I have a belief that I am the only person in the world who likes this song, and it happens to be my favorite ending theme.
Actually, I kinda like both SoEW's ending and credits themes. :V
Extra Love. Name says it all.
>:(
At least you didn't say EES, or I'd really have to hurt you.
-
End of Daylight.
chirp chirp.
-
Boss Theme: She's in a Temper!!
Rika is awesome.
8)
Stage Theme: End of Daylight
-
Tie between End of Daylight and Complete Darkness.
Honorable mention to World of Empty Dreams.
-
Hakurei - Eastern Wind
Yes.
-
Himorogi, Burn in Violet
is now my favorite.
-
Complete Darkness, unpredictably enough. :V
-
Staff roll theme , and two of Rika's theme
-
I'll listen to the themes on YT to save myself the trouble of playing SoEW.
-
The title theme
-
Complete Darkness. Although I have to admit, I didn't go back and listen to all the songs in the music list because I'm lazy, but this is the one that sticks with me.
-
World of Empty Dreams, seriously what's wrong with you people?
Honorable Mentions to Power of Darkness, Bet on Death, and Tank Girl's Dream.
-
Tank Girl's Dream.
seriously what's wrong with you?
-
World of Empty Dreams is alright by SoEW standards, but it feels rough much like most of the other songs in the game.
Also, I kind of like The Tank Girl's Dream. :P
-
OK people, I'm heading out. Again, my internet access will be spotty at best until the 18th. Anyone want to take this until then?
-
I will! :V
As for today's question, Love-Colored Magic.
-
Himorogi, Burn in Violet
HM to Extra Love/the actual boss theme (forgot the name olol) and Complete Darkness.
-
Himorogi, Burn in Violet
HM to End of Daylight, World of Empty Dreams, The Tank Girl's Dream, and (I suppose) Record of the Sealing of an Oriental Demon.
(I kinda notice a pattern here. :V)
-
Tank Girl's Dream
rest sucks
-
Hakurei ~ Eastern Wind.
She's in a Temper!! is great too.
Hell yea Stage 1.
-
The title theme
You are now my favorite user.
-
Complete darkness and the credits theme.
-
Complete Darkness
because it's the only song that doesn't suck / sound like FF6's battle theme / isn't LCM.
-
Record of the Sealing of an Oriental Demon.
-
Never played it. But uh, Complete Darkness, I guess.
HM to World of Empty Dreams.
-
Okay, so, I attend boarding school, and so my internet is also provided by the school (which is why it's so horrendously slow). They also shut off the internet at 11:30PM Sunday-Thursday. So, with the exception of weekends, I'll be posting questions at 11:20ish EST time, so I can get them in time and you guys don't lose 7+ hours :V
What is your favorite scoring system from the games?
ie, your favorite method of gaining points, anything from careful Cherry manipulation in PCB to beating the shit out of things in IaMP.
I'm gonna go with SA's Communication System on this one. Raising the point items through grazing is a great idea, especially in a game like SA, and the full-value auto-collect for repeated grazing is wonderful~
HM to EoSD for being so simple. Shoot things to get points, go to the PoC to get more points, get Extend!s for points. No gimmicks, just straight-out shooting.
DHM to Mystic Square, where the DreamBonus system requires you to essentially perfect the entire game in order to score high. :c
-
to beating the shit out of things in IaMP.
I was going to say SA, but you can't top beating the shit out of things. :V
-
PCB
HM to MS, because it makes stage 1 FUN.
-
Subterranean Animism
-
Bombing an entire stage worth of panels in HRtP for an instantaneous mega combo. :V
For the regular shooters, SA by a wide margin.
-
Lotus Land Story's, in that most of it is in grazing, which the game provides ample amounts of. :V I hate scoring in any game not named Star Fox 64.
-
Subterranean Animism. HM to IN for tons of points.
-
Super Marisa World.
>_>
(StB if I have to pick an official game)
-
I think I'm gonna go with IN for this one. Careful manipulation of familiars to maximize scoring and time points is a fantastic system.
-
I've always liked SA's the most. Aside from letting the Communication Gauge function as a full-screen POC (and thus letting you focus all your attention on the bullets themselves), it also helps that the game's danmaku patterns (more graze-heavy than some others, in my experience) really complement the CG system. This level of synergy means not as much work is needed to make it effective.
-
The Touhou games have scoring systems?
In that case, probably MoF for faith-chaining.
-
You probably will call me crazy or insane, but I find UFO's scoring system the most entertaining.
-
Scoring...meh. I just try to survive. That's all that matters.
-
SA's for sure.
-
Scoring...meh. I just try to survive. That's all that matters.
This.
-
Scoring...meh. I just try to survive. That's all that matters.
-
Faith.
or
Scoring...meh. I just try to survive. That's all that matters.
-
Mountain of Faith followed by Subterranean Animism. Not that I'm good at scoring in either of them.
-
Since I as well try to survive more than I try to get a good score, I like the PCB one the best, due to it rewarding you with the Supernatural Borders. Nothing like getting a short while of invincibility for that stage 6 spam.
Second place to SA for the convenience of being able to autocollect without having to hit the PoC.
-
UFO and PCB for giving you things that actually help you beat the game. I play mostly for survival rather than score, but I try to follow some general scoring guidelines, so it is nice to get an actual benefit from timing UFOs/borders and trying to maximize item collection.
-
Animism. I'm godawful at scoring anyway.
-
Any game where points give Extends. Particularly LLS for getting HUGE amounts of score through graze. I honestly don't really care about points most of the time.
-
PCB for being a great combination of scoring and survival via borders.
Time it right and graze a lot for the full duration and earn bonus points.
or
Break it and and survive/clear the screen.
-
Probably either SA or EoSD, just for being the easiest to work with.
-
I don't have a favourite scoring system, since I've never played for score :V
-
I have to get to sleep extra early tonight, so you guys get this question even further in advance :V
What is your favorite power in the series?
I'm talking about the individual abilities that the girls are officially stated to have in their profiles. Yukari has control over all boundaries, Yuyuko can instantly kill people, Shizuha can...control the color of leaves. etc
I'm gonna go with either Keine's manipulation of history or Remilia's manipulation of fate. Keine's lets you change the past, Remilia's lets you change the future! :V
HM to Nitori's water manipulation. I always thought that would be a really cool ability to have.
-
IMO you can't beat Yukari's power. Call it overpowered, because it is, but the versatality and the near limitless possibilities it has is one of the reasons she's my favorite character. Honorable mention goes to Kurumi's power of hypnosis, even though it's an attribute I gave to her myself. :P
BTW, from my understanding of Keine's power, she can't actually change history; She can merely change how history was written or temporarily block out certain events.
-
Iku's Dancing Utsuho's Nuclear Fusion
-
IMO you can't beat Yukari's power. Call it overpowered, because it is, but the versatality and the near limitless possibilities it has is one of the reasons she's my favorite character. Honorable mention goes to Kurumi's power of hypnosis, even though it's an attribute I gave to her myself. :P
Can I steal this?
A project I'm working on involves a lot of the PC-98 cast or other cast members without predetermined abilities, so I've been trying to come up with 'em XD For instance, I gave Daiyousei the "Manipulation of water currents", making her the water fairy of the lake (As opposed to cirno, the ice fairy of the lake)... BUT ANYWAY.
Favourite canonical power goes to... hmm. Yeah I have to admit I'm fond of Yukari's. I know it's broken as hell, but it's broken in a way that no sensible person would have ever thought up. It's just so out there it's wonderful to me.
-
Yukari's boundary power, most definitely. The superpower I would like the most is the ability to open gates to elsewhere (this was before I heard about Touhou, it's originally based off of the Gatekeepers OVA (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GateKeepers21)) and I thought that Yukari's power was like mine taken to a ridiculous extreme. The fact that her power was so much like mine, and the fact that it seeme so unique in fiction was one of the reasons why I initially played Touhou, and the reason why I chose to 1cc PCB for my first game on normal.
-
Yuyuko's.
Manipulation of "lol u die nao k" is pretty awesome.
-
Can I steal this?
Sure, why not? If you're interested, three other powers I've given are Mugetu's ability to control dream worlds, Gengetu's manipulation of dreams (as in, she can enter someone's mind while they sleep and have limited control over what happens in them), and Yuugen Magan's ability to cause hallucinations.
-
Magic
Probably "The Ability to see things in black and white."
HM to Manipulation of supernatural phenomena.
-
Yeah, I think I like Shikieiki's power myself. Reisen's is pretty cool too.
-
GAP HAX. HM to Sakuya's time manipulation.
-
Reisen and Shiki as well.
-
THE POWER TO SURPRISE HUMANS
I bet you were surprised by this choice.
-
"Manipulation of distance."
HM to Nue's Seeds of Non-Identification.
-
I think Sakuya's time manipulation power is pretty cool, but not as hax as Yukari's power.
But the power I'd like to have would be Maribel's.
-
Power to manipulate the subconcious
I still have no idea how this is supposed to work...
-
(http://i.imagehost.org/0257/4789391.jpg)
It's close between Satori and Utsuho, but Satori wins out. Mind-reading is an absolutely fascinating ability, and very high up on the list of powers I'd like to have for myself assuming I could exercise some control over the damn thing
. I'm strangely endeared to the fact that it's a power that carries with it obvious adverse consequences. I also approve of how it's such a strong defining aspect of Satori's character; it gives her an incredibly unique personality that I didn't fully appreciate until I read through SA's dialogue properly.
As for Utsuho, Nuclear Fusion/gigantic explosions are brilliant for reasons that need no real explanation. She absolutely blew me away with her boss battle in SA & attacks in UNL.
-
Manipulating the subconscious.
Why? Because reading minds are boring. Also, Koishi <3
-
Sanae's Miracle power, or as I call it "The Power to Oppose Anything". Yukari changes the boundary of Win and Lose to never lose? It would take a Miracle to make her Lose then!
-
Remilia's power to make you CRUSH A HUMAN SKULL with BARE HANDS
-
Whoo-ee, catch-up time.
What is your favorite theme from Story of Eastern Wonderland?
I absolutely do not give a shit about SoEW and as such I will respond with a "dunno, lol".
What is your favorite scoring system from the games?
Scoring? What's that? It's all about survivin'. For that, PCB has the best scoring system, it's like getting an extra bomb, gotta love it.
What is your favorite power in the series?
I'm with Solais on this one, though maybe that's just because I've been studying systematic theology for far longer than any teenage girl ever should. The power of miracles > all. Even Yukari's borderhax means nothing next to an ability that literally defines itself by screwing over the laws of reason.
Speaking of:
IMO you can't beat Yukari's power.
Suck it, Yukari. Shikieiki's black-white moralityvision gets an honourable mention.
-
Remi and her fatehax. Why does everyone go crazy about Yukari's supposed omnipotence and completely overlook Remi? =/ I mean... Think about it, controlling fate? Depending on how you look at it, this could mean controlling reality.
-
Shikieiki and Koishi are win, and :
Dishonourable Mention to Shinki, because creating Alice is FAAAAAABULOUS? horrible power.
-
Yukari's Gaps. Hell, I don't need the vague "border of life and death" and all that jazz, just give me the wormhole gaps so I can go anywhere and I'd be happy forever. =)
HM to Hina's curse gathering power, because it sounds like something I would do. Too bad she's so misunderstood. ;_;
-
Remi and her fatehax. Why does everyone go crazy about Yukari's supposed omnipotence and completely overlook Remi? =/ I mean... Think about it, controlling fate? Depending on how you look at it, this could mean controlling reality.
But then it takes a MIRACLE to change reality!
-
It may not be as h4xxx as Yukari's border manipulation, but as it comes close and as it is applied in much more interesting ways in acual canon, I'll go with...
Suika's manipulation of density, or, to be more specific, the ability to gather and to scatter. Creating clones of any size, including "house" and "mist droplet", who share the same conciousness is awesome enough in on itself. However, seeing as her powers extend to any other things and even people, this ability is second to Yukari only in terms of the more Lovecraftian applications of gap-hax, and you probably wouldn't want to try those, anyways.
Creating black holes or turning anything into a huge dust explosion is all the offensive power you'd ever need, period. :V
HMs to Satori's mindreading.
Borderline offtopic rant: Yukari's ability is nowehere near as powerful as fanon portrays it. This starts with the range limitations that she shows in SSiB
and ends with the fact that she can't uphold the fixed border between night and day angainst Kaguya's onslaught of attacks. Conclusion: Using gap-hax is exhausting and thus Yukari's can in fact not hax too often in succession or on a too large scale.
Shikieiki, on the other hand, is much more powerful than she is usually portrayed in fanon. Not only does she beat every character in PoFV multiple times and without much of a problem (you winning is actually her stopping to shoot at you because she thinks you have learned your lesson, as is evidenced by what she says if you loose to her), but in ZUN-written supplementary material (http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/A_Flower_Blooming_Fragrant_Violet_Every_Sixty_Years), Yukari admits to being no match for Shikieiki. The only question here would be if she is merely the undisputed master of danmaku battles or if her yamahood enables her to go "lol, overruled!" on Yukari's powers. Both seem entirely plausible, really.
-
Here's a thought: Yukari's "Border Between Your Power and My Power" She could potentially use anyone's power.
-
Remi and her fatehax. Why does everyone go crazy about Yukari's supposed omnipotence and completely overlook Remi? =/ I mean... Think about it, controlling fate? Depending on how you look at it, this could mean controlling reality.
The fact that Remilia doesn't consciously control her power. :V People need to read PMiSS before making assumptions about everyone's abilities.
About Yukari not upholding the border against Kaguya, it's probably because when she fails is when she gets HIT.
-
First of all, danmaku != real battles.
Also, let's not get into another power level discussion please. We all know that it will always go nowhere.
-
I've always loved Parsee's "manipulation of jealousy". There's a lot that could be done with that kind of power if Parsee had enough mind to.
...Like making everyone jealous of everyone else and causing a giant war.
-
Shikieiki's ability to tell Yuka to terrorize more humans.
-
Okay my roommate is yelling at me to let him sleep already ):
What is your least favorite Touhou meme?
The one that just bugs the hell out of you whenever you see it and you just wonder "why the fuck do people think this is funny."
I'm gonna go with McRolls on this one. I have never understood why people find them funny/creepy/whatever. It's fucking Ronald McDonald put to Touhou songs. IT'S IRRITATING TO LISTEN TO AND IT'S ALL OVER THE PLACE WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE THIS ):
Dishonorable mention to Mannosuke.
(quick meme list if you need to look through them) (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Memes/Touhou)
-
(9)
DHM to McRoll.
-
Yukkuris. I will forever despise them. There are many others I don't like, but dishonorable mention goes to the running gag of Kaguya being useless without Eirin, and in the process turning her into a completely different character.
-
I hate, hate, hate Malice.
Super Dishonorable Mention to Yukkuris.
-
Cho-Marisa
-
Malice
If there was ever a more annoying and out of place pairing, it's this.
-
Romantic pairings of any kind, really.
-
Tsundere Alice. Way to ruin an awesome character.
Also: Kaguya and Mokou interacting in any way that isn't fueled by absolute, pure, unadultered mutual hate.
-
Tsundere Alice. Way to ruin an awesome character.
This, and also Reimu's donation box.
-
Oh so many choices. So many choices indeed.
Tsundere Alice (and along the same route MAlice) and Ran nosebleeds.
DMs to Yukkuris, Fat Letty, Fat Yuyuko, NEET Kaguya, and ⑨ (in the sense of making her as smart as an animated rock).
-
Genocidal/Hitler Sanae
DM to Tsundere Alice
-
All pairings plus all Cirno.
Plus tsundere Alice.
-
Mannosuke. It pushed Rinnosuke's character past the point of no return for me. Now I'm not even interested enough to read CoLA and actually give Rinnosuke's character a chance to redeem itself thanks to that shit.
-
I don't like seeing Letty being referred to as fat.
Probably more but that comes to mind first I guess?
-
I don't feel like catching up to all the crap that I missed, at least not right now.
What is your least favorite Touhou meme?
Fanon Alice for the reasons already mentioned, but just about all of them are garbage.
-
fanon Alice definitely
and any and all romantic pairings.
-
10) Cho-Marisa
9) Every remix that got a stupidly popular Flash animation (Marisa Stole, Perfect Math Classroom, Kero 9 Destiny, etc.)
8) McRolls
7) Yukarin is 17 (There's only one Yukari that's 17, and it sure as fuck ain't Yakumo. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midori_Sugiura))
6) CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN
5) Yukkuris
4) Youchrist
3) Fanon Alice
2) China
1) Padding
I can actually hear my blood pressure rising just by thinking about this list. Holy fuck. What an unholy conglomeration of awful and suck.
I've actually somewhat come to terms with Crowslut and Useless Rabbit, which is why they're not in this list.
-
(http://f.imagehost.org/0481/yukkuri.png)
HMs to ⑨, Cho-Marisa, fanon Alice and Ran nosebleeds. Also loli Siki if that qualifies.
The fact that Remilia doesn't consciously control her power. :V People need to read PMiSS before making assumptions about everyone's abilities.
It is not sure whether or not she is not using it consciously
Emphasis mine.
-
Mannosuke. It pushed Rinnosuke's character past the point of no return for me. Now I'm not even interested enough to read CoLA and actually give Rinnosuke's character a chance to redeem itself thanks to that shit.
This is really quite a shame.
-
Umm... probably Cho-Marisa just for sheer disturbance factor. I don't mind MANnosuke too much but I think of them more as different people so... it kind of helps on that @_@
I also don't like similar things that seem to completely throw off a character's established personality (Various Ran portrayls, Tsundere Alice, and I never thought of Wriggle or Utsuho as being particularly stupid enough to earn Team 9 or (6) positions)...
Also I rather enjoy the McDonald MAD Mixes (McRoll, etc. etc.) - I keep a whole playlist of em. But with that said, I enjoy MAD mixes anyway for no understandable reason.
-
Touhou memes? I hate most of them. Most are either stupid, overused or both
-
Pads.
It was only funny for about 6 seconds at first. Now it's so damn annoying. Seriously.
Oh and McRolls. They make my ears bleed.
-
Oh god I forgot all about Tsundere Alice. Agh, way to fucking ruin a great character, fanon.
(pairings in this game in general annoy the shit out of me anyway)
-
McRoll. Ugh, I feel awful just typing that.
Yuyuko eats Mystia gets second-last.
-
Pads.
It was only funny for about 6 seconds at first. Now it's so damn annoying. Seriously.
Oh and McRolls. They make my ears bleed.
McRolls aren't that bad...you learn to tolerate them after a while, but the pad jokes aren't even funny. Just annoying. Annoying like fanon alice.
I like canon alice much more.
-
Every single meme out there.
-
Every single meme out there.
-
McRolls aren't that bad...you learn to tolerate them after a while, but the pad jokes aren't even funny.
I really do think they're pads. There's NO way those are natural. :V
Also, I forgot about fanon Alice. Both her and Kaguya (and Tenshi too) have had their personalities dragged through the mud by fanon.
-
ITT, a whole lot of people treat a video game series made while drunk as serious business. :V
-
ITT, a whole lot of people treat a video game series made while drunk as serious business. :V
ITT I tell you to stop trolling.
-
Pretty much all of them, Yukkuris don't bother me anyway...
Also, I can use CHEEEEEEEEEEEEE[EEE]EEEEEEN for a heavenly manifestation of RAGE on PCB Stage 2 - Hard...
-
I really don't care about memes. They're fun to watch once or twice, but that's it.
-
I hate all the memes that are used to lower a character to the level of it's pathetic fanbase.
-
I hate all the memes that are used to lower a character to the level of it's pathetic fanbase.
-
This is really quite a shame.
Oh, I'm fully aware. The problem that comes with fanon personalities is that if fanon taints a character enough for you, you won't even have an interest in looking at canon to give them a chance to redeem themselves. I can't stand Yukari or Remi, for example, but I'd like to think that I give them every chance I can to make themselves improve in my eyes (hence my adoration of SWR Remi, who is the best Remi ever.)
However, Mannosuke's bullshit pushed Rinnosuke past the line of no return and now I'm not even interested in him enough to read the canon and give him a fighting chance. THAT'S how much I hate Mannosuke. No other meme provokes me the same way this one does. (Slut Sanae and Koishi's penis obsession come close, but at least I liked them to begin with.)
-
Oh and Remilia's supposed charisma.
Goddamn that irritates me :(
-
Oh and Remilia's supposed charisma.
Goddamn that irritates me :(
She is respected by most youkai, but her charisma doesn't stem from her personality; rather, it comes from the fear that they have for her kind.
She's charismatic, just not in the way you'd expect.
-
She's charismatic, just not in the way you'd expect.
Oh I know that, it just really annoys me when people go "oh charismatic remilia is so charismatically charismatic with the charisma-y charisma, i charismatically wish i was as charismatic as her charisma."
IT'S NOT EVEN A WORD AT THIS POINT
-
Oh I know that, it just really annoys me when people go "oh charismatic remilia is so charismatically charismatic with the charisma-y charisma, i charismatically wish i was as charismatic as her charisma."
IT'S NOT EVEN A WORD AT THIS POINT
I thought that was the whole point of the whole "charisma break" meme.
The meme I dislike the most? Probably Suppatenko
-
Well, anyway, moving away from things that make us rage
What is your favorite head accessory in the series?
Anything ranging from Shikieki's fancypants-superhat to Suika's horns.
I'm gonna go with Sanae's hairclip/snake hairband. I think they look really cute on her, and I love how they symbolize Kanako and Suwako together, without really drawing attention to themselves (mostly in MoF/SA where you're just gaping at the neon green mass that is Sanae's hair :V).
HM to Koakuma's head-wings and Aya's adorable little hat with the cottonballs on it.
-
Judgehat <3
Surprising second place honors go to Alice's headband. I don't know what it is about it, but it looks really cute on her.
-
NO HATS !
Yuyuko's hat. HM to whatever Shou wears on her head.
-
inb4Suwako'shat
I like Youmu's side ribbon thing. It's just really cool-looking.
-
Kaguya's hat Renko's hat.
-
Iku Hat
-
Sanae's frog and snake, Iku's oarfish hat.
Dishonorable mention to Keine's and Shiki's what-the-hell-are-these-things-anyway "hats".
-
Them's fightin' words, pal.
-
Uhhh I don't know. Maybe Shikieiki's hat because... well, look at it.
But HM to Yukari's puffy ribbon hat, Shingyoku M's priest hat and Meiling's beret. I like them for some reason, even if they're simple.
-
I would have to go with Alice's headband on this one.
HM to yama-hat and Renko's hat. Oh and Marisa's omg-huge-hat. Is it just me or is it getting bigger over time?
-
Gengetsu's super-oversized hair ribbon is adorable. <3 Honorable mention to Renko's hat, which is totally badass.
-
Tenshi's hat is <3
Second place goes to Mokou's paper charm ribbons.
-
Sanae's hair accessories,
HM's to Keine's bento box hat and Renko's Fedora.
-
Patchy's nightcap. I like the things she stuck to it.
Honorable mentions:
Keine's head pagoda. It's awesome.
Yukari's fluffy hat. For some reason I like the girls that like like they just woke up.
Dishonorable mention:
Marisa's UFO hat. I don't know what I waws thinking when I first saw it but for some reason, I thought it was a cowboy hat or something.
-
Satori's heartful headband. Simple but sweet.
HMs to Iku, Renko and Koakuma if her head-wings count as accessories.
-
Suwako's hat, Just awsome.
HM to IaMP Marisa's hat that is 2 times bigger than Marisa herself.
-
I've always liked Nitori's cap. It's really simple but it adds something of a tomboyish charm to Nitori.
HM to Wriggle's bug antennas, Mokou's amulets, Hina's uni-pigtail thing.
-
I've always liked Nitori's cap. It's really simple but it adds something of a tomboyish charm to Nitori.
I love you.
-
The best hat in the world of course. All other hats are inferior.
http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/File:ZUN_thenetstar.jpg
-
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- how come I forgot that one !?
-
I really like Yuyuko's hat.
Remilia's hat is cool too. I've always seen these two hats as the classic "ZUN caps" for some reason.
-
Youmu's head band <3
-
Aya's Tokin with the white puffs xD
HM to Sanae's frog & snake accessories, Marisa wizard hat, and Shiki judge hat... not to mention Renko hat.
I really like Yuyuko's hat.
Remilia's hat is cool too. I've always seen these two hats as the classic "ZUN caps" for some reason.
Perhaps because a number of them wear one. (Remi, Flan, Patchouli, Yuyuko, Yukari, Luna Child, Mary and anyone I might've missed)
-
Keine's mini-pagoda and Patchouli's nightcap.
-
Mokou's giant ribbon, Suwako's hat.
-
Dunno why, but I've always been a fan of Ran's pointy nightcap.
Special HM to Rumia's ribbon because I believe it's the only headgear that canonically has a purpose.
Regular HMs to Renko (Fedoras ftw), Patchy, Nitori, and Hina.
-
Aya's hat.
-
Gah, dunno why I haven't looked at this topic for so long. Anyway... Least favorite Touhou meme... Honestly, there's too many sucky ones to just pick one. Favorite hat? ...No idea.
Also,
The fact that Remilia doesn't consciously control her power. :V People need to read PMiSS before making assumptions about everyone's abilities.
...Look again. It doesn't actually say that she can't use it consciously, it just says that it's unsure whether she actually does so when it affects people <_<
-
Favorite hats: Iku, Tenshi, Renko, Sanae's Hair Accessories, Alice's Ribbon.
Seriously, if it's got a brim (@Tenshi/Renko) it is awesome. The Bad Apple!! Tenshi silhouette made me squeal.
-
Aya's hat.
How the hell do I keep forgetting this.
MoF version specifically, it's not anywhere near as cool without the puffballs.
-
Does gradient hair count? :V
Anyway, Yamahat wins by far. HMs to Keine's bento box, Aya's tokin hat (+puffballs), Sanae's hair ornaments, and Yuyuko's hat (mostly for the white dangly bits on the side).
-
I had no idea my roommate was so whiny when it comes to sleep :(
What is your favorite scene in Shoot the Bullet?
I'm not going to lie, I despise StB in general and think it's one of the least fun games ever, but I really have to admit, EX-8 Pandemonium is amazing. It's probably the only thing in the series that I can fail over and over again in rapid succession and not get angry at.
-
This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh4EHa_F98Y)
-
I don't think I can answer this question. :x The only scenes I remember are the ones that gave me a lot of trouble. I guess I can go with 9-6 simply because it drove me to temporary insanity, and that makes it a pretty cool guy.
-
- Satellite Himawari (that green whip looked almost 3D)
- Life of Drunk, Vision of Death
(http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/touhou/images/8/83/StBsc59.jpg)
- Mysterium
(http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/touhou/images/1/19/StBsc69.jpg)
Since we're talking about StB ... what is in Extra 1 ? The one past Stage Ex ?
-
Tie between EX-8 and 10-8. Pandemonium wins for being incredibly difficult and fun for all the right reasons, but Shiki's Cleansed Crystal Judgment is probably one of the things that made me love her (and Aya) so much. Confronting, fighting, and beating your own sinful self in the final battle? Holy hell, Shikieiki, could you get any more awesome?
Dishonorable mention to Five-Coloured Turtles, as it is the sole card responsible for starting me on the path to complete hatred of Mokou.
-
Border of Wave and Particle.
-
My favorite would definitely have to be Devil Sign「World in Nightmare」. At first it was unbelievable difficult, but now it's just crazy fun.
Ghostly Elegance「Fatal Light Trap」is also a really pretty card, too.
Oh, and Mad Dream「Dream World」is also amazing.
-
Spread Sign "Rocket in Mist" because I was able to clear it with a score of 0. :3
9-6, 10-8, EX-1 and EX-8 all are worth mention.
-
Head accessory: Tie between Keine's bento hat and EX-Keine's horn/ribbon, funnily enough.
StB scene: 9-6 by far. Dodging walls is a sign of manliness. 8)
-
[Mad Dream] Dream World is the only one I remember that entertaining and didn't make me want to break my computer.
Though I still haven't gotten terribly far into StB yet...
-
(http://i.imagehost.org/0994/StBsc57.jpg) (http://i.imagehost.org/0589/StBsc77.jpg) (http://i.imagehost.org/0984/StBsc85.jpg) These three.
(http://i.imagehost.org/0088/StBsc67.jpg) also deserves a special mention for DIE IN A FUCKING FIRE
-
In this order:
Ex-08
10-6
I am somewhat in a love/hate relationship with 9-6. :V
HMs to 5-6, 5-8 and 10-8 for having ludicrous amounts of style, even though I haven't beaten the latter. Yet.
-
Border of Wave and Particle.
-
They are all pretty attacks. This is impossible to answer properly.
-
I... Um, have no idea =/
-
Ones that don't shoot solid walls at you.
-
I dunno. I just try to beat 'em all.
-
Come on, people, stop with the boring answers and pick something. >:|
-
Come on, people, stop with the boring answers and pick something. >:|
But I really don't know. And I don't have StB atm to test these out again ;_;
-
10.6
Bubble bullets are fun.
HM to BoWaP and Pandemonium.
-
For some reason I am not too sure of, I really like Tewi's second card (4-8). Yes, it is basically just "BOUNCING STREAMS OF CURVING BULLETS EVERYWHERE AAAAAAA", and it quickly degenerates to "let's just sit in the middle and hope nothing hits me", but I still somehow like the sheer craziness of it.
Honorary mentions to Cirno's exploding bullets attack (Minus K?) for being the only card I can remember prior to level 4 (which, by the way, is the last I have cleared) that isn't just random dodging, and to 4-9 for being the only card outside of level 1 that I captured on my first try.
-
Cleansed Crystal Judgement and Kaguya's BS DANMAKU WALLS.
-
Well, gotta update before the internet shuts off here. :(
What is your favorite Last Word from IN?
Much like StB, I hate IN in general and think it's by far one of the worst games in the series. But the idea of Last Words is, I think, a really cool idea (you'd think I'd like StB since it basically is just a LW collection but :V).
I'm gonna vote for Yukari's card, Danmaku Bounded Field [Phantasm, Foam, Shadow], for being the first LW I captured and also incredibly fun, despite all the memorization involved (it's also much more fun if you do it no-focus!).
HM to Tei's Ancient Duper for doing exactly what the name implies, but once you figure it out it becomes really fun to play (and especially to time out).
Very dishonorable mention to Remilia and Marisa's cards for being made of ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
-
Fantasy Heaven
-
Total Purification. Fun times.
Hey Serafie, mind if I take tomorrow? I've got a good one in mind (and it's not PC-98 propaganda either).
-
The Phantom of the Grand Guignol. HM to Fantasy Heaven.
Dishonorable mention to Yukari's for being 100% memorization and therefore crap as far as I'm concerned.
-
Deflation World for being loleasy, and Unseasonal Butterfly Storm for being the prettiest.
-
Where's the love for Saigyouji Flawless Nirvana ;_;
I have a lower history on it than Deflation World (and I haven't successfully captured Deflation World YET)
-
Last Words all suck loads of ass except for that Resurrection Butterfly ripoff one.
-
Heaven Spider's Butterfly-Capturing Web because I sightcapped it somehow. I have yet to play it since because I enjoy having a perfect record on a Last Word.
Scarlet Destiny gets props for being the best combination of difficulty and not-stupid-boring-memorization-bullshit, and Ancient Duper gets props for being really clever.
-
I always thought Alice LW looked the nicest... plus being downright mean D:
-
(http://i.imagehost.org/0278/INsc216.jpg) (http://i.imagehost.org/0725/INsc221.jpg)
These two.
-
Unseasonal Butterfly Storm
I found this to be one of the harder ones to capture.
-
Deflation World for being fun to dodge (for me at least).
HM to Ancient Duper, because it's the only time Tewi's portrait is visible in the game.
-
SFN and Fantasy Heaven after capturing it in the loluckiest way as possible (http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=6762).
-
Yukari's
Honorable Mentions to Wriggle's and Eirin's.
Dishonorable mentions to Sakuya's(I haven't gotten close to a capture or timeout since my capture), Mystia's for walling me any time I try to time it out, and Kaguya's.
Interesting fact: 1st one I captured was Keine's and the 17th one I captured was Ex Keine's.
-
This
(http://i.imagehost.org/0278/INsc216.jpg) (http://i.imagehost.org/0725/INsc221.jpg)
for Yuyuko's being what seems to be Resurrection Butterfly from PCB.
and Marisa's for Ohmiga--- large mobilized Spark o_o;;
HM for Keine's for happy evasion from bullets being shot behind you, and Yukari's.
... wha-- playable characters (excluding Reimu & Marisa, and Yukari's) actually had Last Words!? *apparently haven't gone through much IN Spell Practice*
-
Heaven spider's etc. because it looks awesome!
I like blazing star aswell gameplay wise and Yukari's for being total uber asskick
-
Hey Serafie, mind if I take tomorrow? I've got a good one in mind (and it's not PC-98 propaganda either).
As long as it's not one of those super-obscure things that only you and about six other people in the world pay attention to (favorite HRtP character pffffffft), sure :V
-
Heaven Spider's Butterfly-Capturing Web because I sightcapped it somehow. I have yet to play it since because I enjoy having a perfect record on a Last Word.
What, you too?
Also, IN is the worst game in the series. As such, I have no "favourite" Last Word. :S
-
Heaven Spider's Butterfly-Capturing Web because I sightcapped it somehow. I have yet to play it since because I enjoy having a perfect record on a Last Word.
Ahaha me too. I still have the replay of it I think.
-
IN is the worst game in the series
>:|
-
Saigyouji Flawless Nirvana, obviously.
-
Catching up:
Power goes to timehax ZA WARUDO; HMs to Mokou's Phoenix (Immortality++), Shinki for being a GODDESS (and none of this Kanako tomfoolery neither), Yuka for taking something like Flowers and turning it into DIE DIE DIE HA HA HA HA HA HA HA, and Kogasa, because she is surprising.
Least favorite meme is a tie between yukkuris (CREEPY AS HELL) and McRoll etc. (see yukkuris). But almost every one of them gets a DHM.
Head accessory...Keine's lunchbox-on-a-head. HM to the Prismrivers' hats, and Rumia's ribbon, because she can't take it off. And Suwako's Hat, because it's capitalized in its own right. And Koishi's hat, for reasons that would take too long to explain.
StB: DO NOT WANT
Last Word: Fantasy Heaven, but I'm not a big fan of Last Words.
-
As long as it's not one of those super-obscure things that only you and about six other people in the world pay attention to (favorite HRtP character pffffffft), sure :V
Hey.
Hey.
I learned that I'm apparently THE only person who cares about the HRtP cast, so don't oversell it. :V But no, this is a question that actually excludes as many PC-98 characters as Windows characters.
What, you too?
Also, IN is the worst game in the series. As such, I have no "favourite" Last Word. :S
What about HRtP? :3
-
What about HRtP? :3
That's not a game. It's an abomination and I refuse to acknowledge its existence.
-
Touhou: The series that skipped the number 2 for some reason
See, I can ignore things too!
So anyways, Blazing Star.
-
I learned that I'm apparently THE only person who cares about the HRtP cast, so don't oversell it.
Hey now, what about the link I had in my sig for several month (and still have, just under a different name)?
Umm, on topic:
Total Purification.
Because it's fun!
-
Saigyouji Flawless Nirvana since it took me the least attempts to capture by some amazing stroke of luck. :V And it looks awesome. Bonus points for it being Yuyuko's card.
HM to Deflation World for scaring the shit out of me the first time I saw it.
-
A bit early (though right on time from Serafie's schedule), but I'll forget if I don't do it while it's fresh on my mind.
What is your favorite handheld accessory?
We've done head accessories, but what about those ones the characters hold? Everything counts, from Mima's crescent staff to Orange's baton, from Yukari's parasol to Remilia's Gungnir.
As for me, there are a lot of cool ones, but nothing beats Elly's boomerang scythe. Honorable mention goes to Yuka's badass parasol.
-
Utsuho's Arm Cannon
Edit:I forgot all about it
-
Does Utsuho's arm cannon count?
-
Kogasa's freakily-tongued eggplant umbrella. That thing is awesome.
-
Does the MOTHERFUCKING GRIMOIRE OF ALICE count?
Kogasa's freakily-tongued eggplant umbrella. That thing is awesome.
Kogasa is the accessory :V
-
Kogasa is the accessory :V
In that case, still Kogasa. Her pretty clothes and moeblob faces she makes, HNNNNNNNG
-
Does the MOTHERFUCKING GRIMOIRE OF ALICE count?
>Is it held by the character?
If so it qualifies. Utsuho's arm cannon is a borderline example, but if I'm also counting Orin's catcart...
-
In that case, still Kogasa. Her pretty clothes and moeblob faces she makes, HNNNNNNNG
Excellent point, sir
-
The Roukanken and Hakurouken.
Honorable mentions to Remilia's Gungnir, Flandre's L?vateinn, and
the MOTHERFUCKING GRIMOIRE OF ALICE
-
Okay let's see...
Kogasa's umbrella
Jeweled Pagoda of Bishamonten (Shou's)
Byakuren's colorful scroll thingy
Marisa's wand in UFO
Alice's grimoire
Yukari's/Yuka's parasol
Aya's fan
Lyrica's keyboard
Lunasa's violin
Merlin's trumpet
JUST TO NAME SOME.
I really have no clue which I should choose
-
Utsuho's arm cannon for sure.
-
I've always loved Flandre's Lavaetein for the really wonderful, curvy design on it.
HM To Shikieiki's amulet and Elly's scythe.
-
The Prismrivers' instruments don't count because they never actually hold them. :I
Going with Aya's fan or Youmu's swords.
-
Elly's scythe. Too bad there's no way that thing is practical to use.
-
Yuka's parasol is my fave :P
It just screams "omg totally badass" for some reason.
I also like Aya's fan.
-
Hm... There's Youmu swords, then there's Kogasa... (If we're counting her as the accessory :V ) Can't forget Gungnir... Eh, I'll go with Kogasa :P
-
Utsuho's arm cannon.
If that doesn't count, then Alice's Grimoire or Marisa's Hakkero.
-
The Grimoire of Alice.
HMs to: Kogasa's Umbrella, Utsuho's Arm Cannon, Elly's Scythe.
-
Hm... There's Youmu swords, then there's Kogasa... (If we're counting her as the accessory :V ) Can't forget Gungnir... Eh, I'll go with Kogasa :P
Well she's a living umbrella so probably yes.
That umbrella or nazrin's rods...
-
Tenshi's Sword of Hisou does it for me. Lightsaber~
-
Ooooh, this is tough. I'll have to say it's a really close tie between Alice's grimoire and Byakuren's scroll.
HM to Marisa's wand though, came out of nowhere and it's amazing.
-
The Jeweled Padoga of Vaisravana
-
Nue's snake trident.
-
Byakuren's Scroll , Sanae's Spatula Gohei , Flandre's Laevateinn, and Sariel's Staff.
-
Utsuho's arm cannon and Orin's cart.
-
Tie between Shikieiki's Yamastick, Yumemi's cross (or her caduceus staff), and Byakuren's glowing scroll.
Honorable mentions go to Sanae's gohei, Kogasa's umbrella (or Kogasa herself, yum), Youmu's Hakurouken and Roukanken, and Tenshi's Hisou no Ken. Swords I like swords.
-
Byakuren's... thing.
Forgotten umbrella's Kogasa. :P
-
Gungnir > Patch's grimoire > Elly's fucked-up scythe
-
Tie between Shikieiki's Yamastick, Yumemi's cross (or her caduceus staff), and Byakuren's glowing scroll.
Honorable mentions go to Sanae's gohei, Kogasa's umbrella (or Kogasa herself, yum), Youmu's Hakurouken and Roukanken, and Tenshi's Hisou no Ken. Swords I like swords.

Hell yeah, man. Hell yeah.
-
We're a half-hour into the new day on the USA's East Coast, so I'm jacking this.
Who has your least favorite hair?
(I had a feeling that "Who has your most favorite hair?" would get a lot of responses that were people's favorite characters, or at least in their Top 3 or so.)
Judge on any combination of style and color you like. Try to ignore any existing accessories, though.
My vote here is for Kanako. The first time I saw her I thought she was a poodle and I frowned. Now I think she's a poodle mixed with Alice from Dilbert and she still makes me frown.
-
Nue's for being horrendously ugly in-game, though luckily I don't see it very often. Kanako's hair manages to get a chuckle out of me at least.
-
Nue
-
Talking strictly ZUNart hair: Eirin's "retirement home escapee", Sanae's "radioactive disaster victim", Nue's "roadkill".
-
Probably Kanako's gravity-defying hair or Sanae's minty toothpaste hair.
Wow, MoF has a lot of bad hair.
-
I hear that wasn't a good rt year in the first place...
-
Come on, Nue has Elvis hair. That's awesome. :<
-
Kanako's.
For some reason I don't like hair around that length on fictional characters (with a few exceptions). And it looks poofy in the ZUNart. I don't like poofy hair.
Really, I dislike Kanako's design just because of how much I can't stand her hair.
-
What is your favorite handheld accessory?
If the umbrella is the true Youkai, then definitely humanoid Kogasa. :V
Who has your least favorite hair?
Sanae's Zunart hair no contest.
DHM to MoF Kanako and Shou (http://littleshrimp.deviantart.com/art/Pirates-Who-Do-Everything-144873804)
-
Probably Letty's, mostly because of the ZUNart. It just looks plain silly. I don't know why.
Close ones would be Eirin and Sanae, but I still like them (outside of ZUNart, of course :3)
-
(http://i.imagehost.org/0266/Face_07_01_png.jpg) (http://i.imagehost.org/0340/Face_st01_00_png.jpg) (http://f.imagehost.org/0162/Shou2.png)
These three.
Edit: Changed my mind, Shou's hair is worse than Sikieiki's.
-
Yuugen Magan.
-
Tie between Kanako's shithead or Shou's mess.
-
These three.
Edit: Changed my mind, Shou's hair is worse than Sikieiki's.
Ahhh ! Come one ! Ran's hairs are BANANAS !
also, Shou for just being ugly
-
Possibly Kanako's ZUNhair, and Sanae's toothpaste ZUNhair. At least it's not homing, and became better in UFO.
-
Kanako's lolHair and Nue's "I just got out of bed" hair.
-
But Nue's hair is cute >=(
Kanako and Eirin. Slight DHM to Koishi's hair for being a REAL PAIN to draw.
-
But Nue's hair is cute >=(
Kanako and Eirin.
Fuck I missed Eirin. I don't like anything about her at all.
I love you so much more I'm taking both you and Halca home.
-
I'm...sorry about the missed question. Something came up suddenly last night, and...well, I completely forgot to make a question. Sorry.
Erm...Kanako's hair, I guess.
-
Kanako's Mountain of Hair (aka Touhou Fuujinfroku)
Sanae's hair looks like some kind of a toxic green shapeless lichen that's eating her face.
Nue's hair sucks just like the rest of her.
-
Accessory: Yuka's Master Parasol, followed by Hakurouken.
Hair: pfffffftKanako
-
Shou's hair.
-
Shou's.
They look like scrambled eggs.
-
Ran. Kanako's actually looks pretty cool.
-
Okay, I'm completely and utterly exhausted today from everything that's gone on today (very long story), so next person to post gets to ask the question for tomorrow. I'm really sorry about this, I'll get back to regular questions after tomorrow.
-
hmm?
-
If you post a Koishi question I will stab you in the eye.
-
If you post a Koishi question I will stab you in the eye.
Oh you.
Btw if I did it would be boring so no it won't be.
-
Handheld Accessory in order: Shou's spear, Patchouli's Grimoire, Ichirin, Shanghai, Hourai
Worst Hair: Kanako's plastic mess, Sanae's nuclear green. Reimu doesn't seem to pull off long hair well.
-
What's wrong with Kanako's hair :V
Sanae is also cool, unless it is the ZUNpaste.
-
I'll go with Kanako on this one
-
What's wrong with Kanako's hair
-
Hmm...I forgot I have to ask an hour early :V
Who is your favourite non-game Touhou character?
That's right. This is anyone who is introduced into the Touhou series and do not appear in any of the official games whatsoever. Examples are Akyuu no Hieda and Rinnosuke. Even mentioned characters are okay, like Youki or Mr. Kirisame :V
For me, it would have to be Watatsuki no Toyohime <3 Oh god after the Inaba comics I just fell for her. She's hilariously adorable, and I'm a sucker for happy-go-lucky characters. And I don't think she's THAT much of a bitch compared to Yorihime, even though she's horribly broken with that fan of hers. Still, lovely pure Lunarian is lovely, and the only Lunarian I like <3 (Reisen and Reisen II are okay too, Kaguya is...meh).
-
Akyu, easily.
Cute little girl, writes, and has the experience of hundreds of generations worth of women?
Holy hell I'd adopt her in a heartbeat.
-
Hieda no Akyuu, with little to no contest at all.
-
Akyu
-
Gonna be unoriginal and go with Akyu, just because I don't know much about the stuff apart from the games.
EDIT: ...*facepalm* No idea how the hell I forgot Rinnosuke <_<; Still, Akyu deserves an honorable mention.
-
Renko. Definitely.
Maribel is cool too.
-
Why Akyu? I mean, I respect her and all but...she kinda seems boring. I dunno.
I'm surprised that there's no mention of Renko or Maribel y-
Renko. Definitely.
Maribel is cool too.
Oh yeah finally.
-
Rinnosuke
-
Why Akyu? I mean, I respect her and all but...she kinda seems boring. I dunno.
Oh no you dint.
Don't you know how awesome it would be to have an hours-long deep and meaningful philisophical conversation with a highly intelligent and well-read ten year old girl??????
Get some perspective man!
-
Renko, mostly because of her pimpin' design. I actually don't remember Renko or Maribel's personalities from the CD stories that well. :x Honorable mention goes to Rin Satsuki.
-
Renko and Maryberry. I considered shocking everyone and saying Star Sapphire but that wouldn't be right. :P
-
I considered shocking everyone and saying Star Sapphire but that wouldn't be right. :P
She's definitely an HM for me. My favourite of the three fairies, although the other two are just as awesome.
-
Renko <3
Honorable mention to Sunny Milk, because I just wanted to mention her :v
-
Renko, Maribel, Akyuu.
-
(http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/4884/neilarmstrongb.jpg)
Baddest motherfucker the Touhouverse ever did see.
If I have to pick an original character I choose Watathingy no PurpleHime because she's really hot.
What's wrong with Kanako's hair :V
The first time I saw her I thought she was a poodle and I frowned. Now I think she's a poodle mixed with Alice from Dilbert and she still makes me frown.
-
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/4884/neilarmstrongb.jpg
Oh dammit Kilga XD
Unfortunately I'll have to go with your Godmodhime choice though.
-
Yorihime
-
Youki, 'cause he's a badass Swordsman and he taught Youmu how to be badass as well.
HM's to Renko and Maribel for their Overall Cool level.
-
Maribel and Renko.
Also Akyu is really depressing when you think about it. :<
-
Definitely Renko for this one. Human compass with a badass outfit? Awesome.
-
(http://f.imagehost.org/0053/8578332.jpg)
WHO'S THAT POKEMON?
HM to Luna Child.
-
Favourite Non-game Touhou character? I don't much about them so Im'a just go with Youki
-
Every one of them. Really. I like all of them. Even Tokiko. Kourin is cool too. Akyuu is cute, even thought her "story" is sad. The fairies are awesome. And Mary and Renko doesn't count, because they're Yukari, and I like her too.
-
I really don't know too much about the non-game characters besides what I've read on their wikia pages. But from what I've read definitely Renko and Sunny Milk.
I've been meaning to get around to reading the manga and side stories for awhile now though. :P
-
Renko. It shouldn't even be a contest. :V
-
Tokiko, because oh-god-she's-so-fucking-cute-i'm-taking-her-home-with-me-hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh
-
I know only Rinnosuke so I'll go with him.
Renko looks pretty lame tbh *runs*
-
If you had asked me this question two weeks ago, I would have answered Watatsuki no Yorihime without a second thought. However, now that I've been writing a Renko-centric piece, she's starting to grow on me a fair bit, so I'll go with her, though Yoriyori is still damn awesome.
Honorable mention goes to Hieda no Akyu, whose story has always endeared her to me.
-
Tokiko.
-
I feel like such an asshole for keeping my roommate up when he's trying to sleep. How long does it usually take for people to adjust their sleeping schedule after changing timezones (my roommate's from Taiwan)? It's been two weeks already :(
What is your favorite spellcard background?
I think I might have to go with Utsuho's, for adding so much atmosphere to the battle plus THAT CAT, or Koishi's for being really pretty.
HM to Sanae's for being really damn helpful in capturing Nine-Syllable Stabs and Yuyuko's if you count the fan.
-
I don't know how long it takes.
And I've never really paid much attention as I'm usually trying to dodge stuff.
-
When I went to Japan it took about five days for me to get over the jet lag, and only two once I came back. :x
And I've never really paid much attention as I'm usually trying to dodge stuff.
Very few are memorable enough for me to recall them, but Kaguya's stands out for some reason.
Also, I've got another good one. Mind if I take tomorrow for you?
-
Yuyuko's Saigyou Ayakashi (stupid fan just gets in the way, I say), Shikieiki's boss summon which has a freakin' entire wall of the Sistine Chapel as its background, and Utsuho's radioactive kitteh thing. HM to Kanako's shrine, and everyhing else gets a big "meh".
-
Koishi's for being really pretty.
-
Oh hey, I'm from Taiwan too. My family usually take about 2 days to adjust to the time zone change. As for me, I don't think I've ever adjusted yet. And living in the US like that is very bothersome, naturally waking up at 3PM and getting sleepy around 9AM. Basically, I sleep when the sun is out. Anyways, adjusting to the time zone change is about 2 days, and no more than a week for people who are unaccustomed to jet lag.
As for background, I would have to pick Yuyuko's.
-
Gengetu's and Kanako's
-

Strange I'm from taiwan as well and it only takes a night or two to get over time zones when I go to the states. Then again I sleep on the plane so there.
BTW
I tend to not notice spellcard backgorunds as I'm too busy trying not to get hit to notice.
-
Kanako's
-
(http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/8284/cdbg06a.png)
-
Yuyuko in PCB, and Shikieiki's StB background for having The Last Judgment back there. So cool.
EDIT: Oh and Byakuren's Hokkai background + lotus, TY to Formless God for reminding me
-
Byakuren's Lotus.
-
Flandre's egotistical spellcard background which is a silhouette of HERSELF.
HM to Utsuho's radioactive cat and Kanako's shrine.
-
(http://i.imagehost.org/0787/198414.jpg)
HMs to Utsuho's and Eirin's.
-
Flandre's egotistical spellcard background which is a silhouette of HERSELF.
HM to Utsuho's radioactive cat and Kanako's shrine.
See, the effect is rather lost when every single extra boss (not counting Ran) until Nue does the same thing. :\
Also, I forgot about MS stage 3 Alice's background. It's unique in the series in that it turns into a landscape, one that is probably the prettiest background in PC-98.
-
My Favourite would have to be Utsuho's spell background. Honourable mention goes to Eirin's shifting Background
-
I don't pay attention to spell backgrounds except for Alice and Utsuho. And I like Utsuho's better for radioactive cats.
-
Shinki's final background~ Burning Makai
Nothing compares to seeing the aftermath of this attack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zhBuDOcZE0#t=4m00s) for the first time. I can't think of any other point in the series where the actions of the characters affected the surrounding area, and personally I like to think this may have been one of many catalysts for the creation of the spellcard system.
HMs to Alice's Mystic Square (s3), Kanako, Utsuho, Yuyuko, and Sakuya.
-
Erin's non-spellcard before Apollo 13. HM to Yuyuko's BG for Resurrection Butterfly
-
Fav. characters hands-down: Renko and Maribel
Learning Danmakufu to see if I can make them~
-
All of Eirin's nonspell backgrounds, if they count. Not because any of them are mindblowing on their own, but because of how they're constantly changing though the fight. It's a really cool effect that you don't see anywhere else in the Windows games.
If that doesn't count, then Keine's spellcard background.
-
this attack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zhBuDOcZE0#t=4m00s)
Oh look at that, it's my old 1cc video.
I'm going with EoSD!Sakuya's SC BG. Not IN's because that's too red.
HM to the entire EX-Alice fight. Yeah.
Also, anybody volunteering to take "today", or do I have to go back to my duties?
-
I have one in mind, don't worry.
-
Sure Donut, go ahead :V
-
Well, we seem to be issuing the question earlier and earlier, so why not? :V
Who is your favorite death fairy?
No no, I'm not foolish enough to believe anyone other than me has given the death fairies a personality, but who is your favorite to fight?
My favorite is Scarletty the EoSD death fairy, simply because it's pure dodging and no tricky learning.
-
The Fairies I like are:Bob, Bobby, Robby, Robert, Rob, Will, Willy, Steamboat Willy, Bill, Billy, Billy Bob, and Fairy No.47
No no, I'm not foolish enough to believe anyone other than me has given the death fairies a personality
Then you are not foolish enough
-
Anyone BUT the EoSD fairy.
Just because.
-
Pre-Mokou's Fairy because I can actually sit still and watch the danmaku :V
-
MoF Stage 6
-
IN's FinalB twin deathfairies.
-
To be fair, I'm only giving questions earlier because I'm forced to, so :V
Pretty much all death fairies are annoying, but I guess...the dual death fairies at the start of FinalB in IN.
Very very very dishonorable mention to the death fairy at the end of PCB Stage 4 for being retarded and stupid.
-
Fav Death fairy? These are the strong fairies before a final stage/extra stage boss right? Since I have only gotten that far in EoSD... I would have to say EoSD >.<
-
The death fairies are the fairies, one per game, that appear and fire a shit ton of bullets and usually are tougher than the average fairy to boot (I never really considered the twin fairies in final B as death fairies since the method to kill them makes them really easy). As I consider them, they are in:
EoSD extra
PCB stage 4
IN extra
MoF stage 6
SA stage 4
-
I hate them all.
PCB's has some nice background music though. ^_^
-
Cherry PCB's death fairy is easy if you go off to the side in the beginning. That's the only hard part.
-
How are you supposed to deal with the IN Stage 6 ones anyway?
The way I do it is to just press X.
-
Position your hitbox above the youkai kanji on the human/youkai bar, when the fairies fire, stream right. When one dies, stream the other way.
Or at least that's how the border team does it. Anyone else is just screwed. :V
-
Lily White.
-
SA Stage 4
-
Who is your favorite death fairy?
HM to the pre-Utsuho souls in SA stage 6 if they count. Otherwise, probably the MoF stage 6 fairy.
-
Changing my vote to Lily Black if she counts.
Actually, fuck it, I say she counts. Donut gave me YuugenMagan on the hair question, I'm giving him Lily Black on this one.
-
Yup. Lily Black. No contest here.
-
EoSD extra
PCB stage 4
IN extra
MoF stage 6
SA stage 4
No mention to MS stage 1 deathfairy? :V
I'll go with EoSD extra's for fun dodging.
HM to IN for being one of the attacks with the most bullets onscreen.
-
IN - Fills the screen, looks impossible and can easily get done consistently allowing for showing off!
-
Pre-Mokou Death Fairy.
Or Lily White.
-
That bunny fairy that appears before Mokou.
HM's to Lily White and Lily Black.
-
Yeah you know what? Fuck that Lily White all the fucking way (and Lily Black, and she's equally as cool).
HM to all others BUT EoSD fairy.
-
Should the LLS stage 4 midboss be counted as a death fairy? It definitely looks fairy-esque and is easily more lethal than any other death fairy.
Not that I'd vote for it, though.
Spring is drawing closer and closer...
-
http://i.imagehost.org/0515/827994.jpg
Nothing else matters.
-

Spring is drawing closer and closer...
One of the defining characteristics of a death fairy to me is that they don't have a lifebar and therefore aren't proper midbosses. They simply appear and look the same as a normal fairy, but have a lot more firepower. But if you guys want to include them, I'm not gonna stop you.
@Jaimers: I once gave that fairy a mock-tragic story about how she worked so hard to become a midboss, inspiring all of her friends, and then the heroine just mows over her like she's nothing. :V
-
@Jaimers: I once gave that fairy a mock-tragic story about how she worked so hard to become a midboss, inspiring all of her friends, and then the heroine just mows over her like she's nothing. :V
She certainly did inspire a few - when I see any MS midboss I immediately think, "free resources! stage stalling! probably couldn't lose a life here if I tried!"
-
Lily White.
HM to Lily Black.
I don't care for any actual death fairies.
-
IN - Fills the screen, looks impossible and can easily get done consistently allowing for showing off!
It's still a forced bomb to me. I can get through most of Mokou and capture it, and that is still messing me up.
-
Border team, I just safespot that thing. Anything else is an autobomb, though I have captured it a few times when I had no bombs, I'm not consistent at it.
-
Lily Black inspires blind, mindless rage whenever I have to fight her, so she wins this. Lily White is less cool, but decent.
HM goes to SA stage 4 fairy, who you can bomb for free, since she gives you back the power you lost in bombing her and then some. 8)
-
I also have a question in mind, but I'd obviously wait for approval.
-
Yeah, Lily black. No contest here
-
I also have a question in mind, but I'd obviously wait for approval.
DENIED No, go ahead.
-
Okay
What is your favorite character title/description text?
In case that confused anyone, these are things like Reimu's Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise, Sakuya's Perfect and Elegant Maid, Marisa's Ordinary Magician, etc.
If you need to, look them up on the wiki. Even the midboss only ones have these, and it's different for some characters in different games.
For me, Hell's Traffic Accident
Honorable Mentions to Super Youkai Warhead, Little Sweet Poison(despite how much I hate Medicine), and Thoughtless Not-so-Thoughtless Daughter of the Heavens.
Edited because that Kaguya title mentioned on the IN Character page wasn't an actual one.
-
Wow, we're asking these questions early now, huh?
I'll wait until the day actually rolls over for me. >_>
-
For me, Hell's Traffic Accident
This.
-
Oh, so many. Let's see if I can't choose five out of the ones I like so much...
Yuka's Flower Master of the Four Seasons, Shikieiki's Nagging Helpful Lecturer, Sanae's Deified Human of the Wind, Youmu's Kirisute Gomen, and Yumemi's Fantasy Legend.
ESPECIALLY Yumemi's Fantasy Legend, as a matter of fact. Yuka's is damn cool, but Yumemi's just got the coolest title in all of Touhou.
-
Utsuho's The Scorching, Troublesome Divine Flame, Alice's Seven-Colored Puppeteer, Yukari's The one behind the spiriting-away, Chiyuri's Resident of fantasy that runs through time, and Yumemi's Fantasy Legend.
And of course, I share this exact sentiments:
ESPECIALLY Yumemi's Fantasy Legend, as a matter of fact. Yuka's is damn cool, but Yumemi's just got the coolest title in all of Touhou.
-
6 : The Great Unmoving Library
7 : Ghost Girl of the Twilight
8 : The Eternal Moon Princess
10 : Super Youkai Warhead
11 : Closed Eyes of Love <3
12 : Disciple of Bishamonten
-
Wow, we're asking these questions early now, huh?
I'll wait until the day actually rolls over for me. >_>
Seriously, people. I ask them early because
a) my school shuts off internet at 11:30PM EST
b) my roommate goes to sleep early and I don't like keeping him awake
WAIT UNTIL IT'S ACTUALLY THE NEXT DAY IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME ):<
-
Hell's Traffic Accident :V
-
Nagging Helpful Lecture
HM's to Newbie Goddess of the Mountain, The Girl Even Spirts Fear,Hell's Traffic Incident, and The Big Wheel That Guards and is Guarded.
-
WAIT UNTIL IT'S ACTUALLY THE NEXT DAY IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME ):<
After you un-daily-ed it for whatever reason, waiting the "next" day would un-daily it again, wouldn't it. ;D
My vote goes for Eternal Hax Miko. Oh wait, I just made that one up.
Well, the wiki says that Alice is described as a Superficially Busy Youkai in StB; I have no way to confirm this, since I never bothered to English-patch my copy of StB, but should this stand correct, that's where my vote goes, for a variety of reasons. And of course Reimu's Eternal Shrine Maiden which is all kinds of <3
-
The Closed Eyes of Love <3
Damn Koishi is just a moeblob for me <3
Also:
http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Character_Titles
-
Though it's not her real title, Eternal Shrine Maiden is an awesome title (as my custom title never being changed might indicate).
But because it isn't, hmm...I've never really paid attention to titles, but after reading the big list on the Touhou wiki, I have to say I like Beauty of Everlasting Darkness for Yuka. I also like Youmu's "Half Human, Half Ghost, and Half-Baked."
EDIT NOBODY WILL EVER SEE AND IF THEY QUOTE IT AS PROOF THEY GET A DONUT: Oh wate Eternal Shrine Maiden was Reimu's title in Shuusou Gyoku, so that's my vote.
-
Turtle, Maid,
Nagging Helpful Lecture, Hell's Traffic Accident, Shikigami of a Shikigami of the Sukima Youkai
-
After you un-daily-ed it for whatever reason
I ask them early because
a) my school shuts off internet at 11:30PM EST
b) my roommate goes to sleep early and I don't like keeping him awake
:V
-
Super Youkai Warhead. Nitori <3
Special mention: The Unmoving Great Library, Lunatic Red Eyes, The Unidentified Fantastic Flying Girl
Also:

Some of those are kinda confusing. How did Alice ever get the title "Witch of Death"?
-
Some of those are kinda confusing. How did Alice ever get the title "Witch of Death"?
As you can see, she was given that in MS, so it was before she was known as a puppeteer.
-
As you can see, she was given that in MS, so it was before she was known as a puppeteer.
I know that, I get the witch part. But where did the Death part come from, unless it had to do with the fact she came from Makai?
-
Probably cuz she was considered a demon at the time. Also, she was an EX boss with a deadly Grimoire, so that probably had something to do with it.
-
Super Youkai Warhead.
HM to Eternal Shrine Maiden, Phantasmal Sunshower, and Turtle.
-
For me, Hell's Traffic Accident
As much as I despise Orin, this title always makes me laugh.
-
Started with a list of 20 or so. Overall favourite and HMs respectively:
The Unidentified Fantastic Flying Girl
Beautiful Scarlet Cloth
What Winter Left Behind
Little Sweet Poison
The Girl Even The Evil Spirits Fear
Hell's Traffic Accident
Super Youkai Warhead
-
Let's see...
Hell's Traffic Accident
Newbie Goddess of the Mountain
Nagging Helpful Lecture
for the lulz.
The Girl Even The Evil Spirits Fear
The Dawn of Time
Angel of Death
for badass.
But my overall final vote has to be:
Forgathering Dream, Illusion, and Pandemonium
-
A princess dreaming of beauty in danmaku (Kotohime)
I've always loved Kotohime but this title makes her so much more lovable. <3
-
Youmu's "Half Human, Half Ghost, and Half-Baked."
-
Firstly Utsuho: the scorching, troublesome divine flame
HM to Kogasa: the cheery forgotten umbrella
-
"Hyperactive Monster Cat" and Genji's very elaborate description. :V
-
Half-Human, Half-Ghost and Half-Baked gets my vote.
-
Jackin' again.
What is your favorite Extra Stage Midboss?
This didn't appear in that giant list in the OP so I assume it's okay.
I am torn on this. Kanako is the fight I enjoy the most, but every bone in my body resists the idea of voting Kanako favorite anything.
I...think I'll have to vote Kogasa. Third card is whoafuck but the first is fine and the second is loads of fun. I also like how it played into the whole "surprise" gimmick.
-
「Hakutaku」Keine, of course.
-
Sanae
-
Patchy
-
Shuusou Gyoku midboss. Was this supposed to be hard?
Patchy, Kogasa, and that MS card dude all have about one fun pattern each. That's pretty good as far as Extra midbosses go.
-
That Damn Glowing Orb. No really.
-
Kogasa by a very, very wide margin. HMs to HOHO I'M DERANGED MIKO Sanae and LLS's circleballorbthing.
-
Keine, since she is the only one (out of the two Extra midbosses I have actually fought; the other one being Chen) whose attacks I can somewhat deal with.
-
Non-game characters aren't real. Favorite figment I guess goes to Youki (blame the Life of Maid ones for that).
Background has to go to the Radioactive Cat, but Shinki, Eirin and Sakuya all get HMs.
Death Fairy I hand to EoSD Extra's; as bad as I am at it (pretty bad, actually), it's during one of my favorite parts of the music. :V
Title: I've always had a few favorites: Super Youkai Warhead probably takes this, but Fantasy Legend puts up a very strong fight, as do Hell's Traffic Accident, Flower Master of the Four Seasons, The Cheery Forgotten Umbrella, The Little Pandemonium, The Closed Eyes of Love, and especially The Crimson Watchguard.
Extra midboss: Despite the fact that I'm terrible at her cards, this I give to Horatio Keine. HM to Patchy, who is fun, and Kanako, who is easy. And Nue. (If you don't get it, you need to play LLS more.)
HOHO I'M DERANGED MIKO Sanae
I lol'd.
-
Ex-Keine, because I play IN extra the most. And because they're just plain fun.
-
Kanako and Kogasa.
I still remember myself doing their spell cards effortlessly while listening to the sound of everyone's jaws dropping all the way to the floor *_*
-
Hakutaku Keine
-
Yuki and Mai.
[/Samidare]
-
Ex-Keine only because I can capture all of her cards 99% of the time. HM to Chen as she's also really fun and easy.
-
I hate them all.
But if I had to pick I'd choose Patchouli.
-
Yuka
Lots of variation in attacks.
See if you can figure out what I mean.
-
Yuka
Lots of variation in attacks.
See if you can figure out what I mean.
I hate how all her bullets suddenly speed up a ton right before she switches waves. Although, thats probably just because of slowdown... ^^;
Anyway, Kogasa. She's got pretty fun spellcards, and really; that last one makes me freak out no matter how good I am at it. Its awesome.
-
Kogasa probably. Most of the Windows ones are pretty bad.
-
Kogasa's fight won my heart because of the laughing music in the background. And her cards are just so much fun to fight~
-
Kanako's spellcards in Extra Stage are really fun, especially her second, which is like loleasy for me now. Honorable mention to Chen for being the second easiest (for me, anyway). :V
-
Kanako probably, her cards are awesome and I can capture them consistently. Espescially like her last one, I'm using a very weird movement tactic which somehow turns out the same every single time.
-
In general I don't really like the Extra midboss fights, so I have to give this one to
That Damn Glowing Orb. Midboss Nue.
Nice and random, not too difficult, and the whole 'fight', if you can call it that, is survival and keeps changing phases before any of them get boring. :V
-
Favorite Death Fairy?
Only seen 1 (PCB) and I hate her, so I'm gonna go with whoever said Lily.
Favorite Character Title/Description Text
Hells Traffic Accident made me laugh out loud when I first saw it, so it wins.
HMs to Symbol of loneliness and death (S. Aki), Half-human Half-ghost and Half-baked, and Turtle
Extra Stage Midboss
Never fought one. :V I like Ran and Kogasa though, so lets go with that.
-
every bone in my body resists the idea of voting Kanako favorite anything.
This, even though I dont even have to bother contemplating the idea :V
Anyway, Patchy. Because shes Patchy.
-
I'm going to be totally honest and say that I completely forgot to make a question for today. :V
Favorite character title: I'll be boring and say Hell's Traffic Accident and Nagging Helpful Lecturer or whatever Shiki's title is in StB. HM to Hyperactive Monster Cat.
Favorite Extra midboss: Kogasa. She used to be completely impossible for me, but after figuring her out, she's actually ridiculously fun to fight. That, and seeing her as the Extra midboss was a genuine shocker, especially since everyone mocked her for her "power to surprise humans."
-
So since Shim is back, I don't have to
forget to put up questions anymore :V
However, this is one that I've been wanting to ask for the past few days, so...
What is your favorite survival card?
The ones where you can't hit the boss (MAlice Cannon on Possessed by Phoenix doesn't count), and your only option is to time it out. In case you can't remember them, every Windows Extra boss has one as their penultimate card, Murasa and Aya have one on Normal and above, along with Ressurection Butterfly, Hourai Elixer, Kaguya's Last Spells, and Yukari, Marisa and Reimu's Last Words. Not sure about PC-98 bosses.
I'm gonna go with Response [Youkai Polygraph] on this one. Koishi has to have the most flat-out fun bossfight in the series, and Youkai Polygraph is just a blast to play, I think. The amount of grazewhoring you can do is also delightful.
HM to Flandre's Secret [And Then There Will Be None?] for being fun in general, plus surviving the last few seconds makes you feel like fuck yeah I just did that.
Very dishonorable mention to Murasa's Sinking Vortex card which has put an end to so many perfect UFO Stage 4 runs :(
-
Kokkuri-san's Contract, for being one of the few I can consistently do.
HM to Illusionary Dominance for being intense random dodging.
-
Yuitia.
-
Probably...Possessed by Phoenix, I think.
Also, I think anyone who wants to ask questions is encouraged. I have a good one for tomorrow night, but otherwise, fire away, people. I guess we should organize it somehow.
-
Not sure about PC-98 bosses.
Nope... unless you want to count those timeout phases in LLS.
Anyways, going with "Peerless BS Wind God" (and nothing lower). Followed by "Suwa War".
DHM to Ghost "-foo-" for being easier at higher difficulties, and harder at the lower end (that is, Normal).
-
I'll have to say Response [Youkai Polygraph] as well, since the concept is really cool and the pattern is awesome as well. Second place is [Nightmare of Heiankyou], because it looks really fun to do.
Funny, earlier today I was hoping for this question to come up here.
-
Nightmare of Heiankyou
Honorable mentions to Rising World(even though I can't go against it yet), Profound Field, Kokkuri-san's Contract/Boundary of Humans and Youkai.
Dishonorable mentions to And Then Will There Be None, Peerless Wind God, and Hourai Elixir Lunatic
-
Ghost "Sinker Ghost" for pulling a Kogasa on me
-
Formless Peerless Wind God
HM to Boundary of Human and Youkai, Youkai Polygraph and Nightmare of Heiankyou for being both intimidating and loleasy at the same time.
-
Hourai Elixir.
Voyage 1970 just goes so well with it.
-
I'm not a fan of survival spell cards, so I'll just go with Nightmare of Heiankyou for the same reasons Formless God mentioned.
-
Peerless Wind God, and Resurrection Butterfly which you heretics have been forgetting/ignoring for whatever reason.
-
Kokkuri-san's Contract
HM's to Sinker Ghost, Nightmare of Heiankyo, and Resurrection Butterfly.
-
Resurrection Butterfly, since it's really pretty (and I don't think I have ever gotten to any other survival cards apart from Eirin's and Kaguya's final spells). Honourable mention to Danmaku Bounded Field/whatever the IN version was called for looking generally awesome.
-
Hourai Elixir. HMs to Rising World and Resurrection Butterfly, though the difficulty of the latter fluctuates a little too much.
Danmaku Bounded Field is nice in a static-y kind of way.
-
Danmaku Bounded Field
-
Hourai Elixir Lunatic. That last phase... :V
-
Youkai Polygraph. Simple concept yet so fun to play.
-
Nope... unless you want to count those timeout phases in LLS.
Well, stage 6 Yuka has two survival phases which both last like 5 seconds and what about the LLS extra midboss?
As for my favourite, I'll say "Goliath Doll"
-
Goliath Doll, of course. :S
-
Yes, Goliath Doll
-
Goliath Doll.
-
...
I'd probably pick Goliath Doll, but I've never reached it above easy. :\ I should really go back to UNL someday and pick another character to beat lunatic with.
-
...
I'd probably pick Goliath Doll, but I've never reached it above easy. :\ I should really go back to UNL someday and pick another character to beat lunatic with.
Cirno probably has the easiest Lunatic, too. Utsuho's Jupiter spell (or Uranus or whichever planet it was) is probably the only significantly difficult spell in the entire thing, once you realize the correct way to handle things.
Oh, and either Goliath Doll, Nightmare in Heianyoku, or Danmaku bounded Field. They all have a unique and defining quality that makes me love them.
-
Perhaps it would only be a matter of learning which moves are the most useful, but I can't get past stage 1 with Cirno on lunatic. :< I still suck at fighting games, it just so happens each of the fighting games has someone who has an AI breaking attack (Yukari in IaMP), absurdly powerful moves that are god tier against story mode spell cards (Youmu in SWR), or have a great and easy to do combo when the opponent's spell gauge is drained (Meiling in UNL). Without stuff like that I'm an easy modo fighter.
-

5AAA 5B 5C 236C
You can now combo with 85% of UNL's/SWR's cast.
-
Slightly early question, because I'm tired! Hooray!
What is your favorite track title from the Touhou Project?
ZUN has some ridiculously wacky names for his stuff, I'll give him that. Let's see...this goes to, I think, Strawberry Crisis!!, for completely meaningless awesome, but HM's go for The Eternal Shrine Maiden, She's In A Temper!!, Disunified Field Theory of Magic, Sleeping Terror, Alice in Wonderland, The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls, Broken Moon, Deaf to All But the Song, Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke, Green-Eyed Jealousy (oh yes), Hellfire Mantle, and probably a whole bunch more.
-
Bad Apple for being a bad apple
-
"Future Universe of Wheelchair," for being oddly memorable.
Edit: Whoops, HM to "Love of Magical Chimes."
-
Mystic Oriental Love Consultation for making no sense at all and Bhava-agra As Seen Through a Child's Mind for being a perfect explanation of the whole SWR plot. HM to Be of Good Cheer! because of GODDAMN CATS
-
Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passenger Ship.
:V
-
Augh, there's far too many songs to even keep track of long enough to decide, so I'll just go with Eternal Shrine Maiden, which really appeals to me for some reason.
-
Captain Murasa.
HM to Ultimate Truth, Alice in Wonderland, and Eternal Shrine Maiden
-
I think half of the song names sound really meaningless and come across of awkward :|
But CAPTAIN MURASA is the greatest song title ever.
-
Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life. Few names scream 'EPIC' quite like that one.
HMs to Alice Maestra and Illusionary Sputnik Night, because... I don't really know why. <_<
-
Eternal Shrine Maiden
*kicks self*
how did I forget it
*kicks self again*
-
"Hartmann's Youkai Girl"
A youkai girl ! <3 *Rorschach'd*
HM to Alice Maestra, World's End, Septette for the Dead Princess, Diao ye zong, Maiden's Capriccio, Kagome-Kagome, Higan Retour, Wind God Girl, Because Princess Inada is Scolding ZUN, The Gensokyo the Gods Loved, Faith is for the Transient People, Last Remote, A Tiny Tiny Clever Commander and Heian Alien.
-
My two favorite titles because they are silly without being too silly....
Tomorrow Will Be Special, Yesterday Was Not oh ok Captain Optimism :V
Corpse Voyage ~ Be Of Good Cheer! Yes good cheer is exactly what I need when I'm in hell :'(
-
Gensokyo, Past and Present ~ Flower Land
UFO Romance of the Night Sky
Blue Sea of 53 Minutes
I just find these titles neat. Dunno why.
-
Record of the Sealing of an Oriental Demon ~ A Phantom's Boisterous Dance
For being one of the longest track titles in the series.
-
Hmm, missed yesterday's question. For that one I would say Koishi's but I never really played, as I only saw it through videos.
So intead I'm going with Aya's for SPEED.
For today's question, I'm going with Hartmann's Youkai Girl as it makes her sound that much cuter <3
-
Break the Sabbath. Not least because I so often do.
HMs to The Positive and Negative, Septette for the Dead Princess and Treacherous Maiden ~ Judas Kiss.
-
Let's Die All Together
8)
-
Magical Shop of Raspberry.
I have never heard the song but goddamn that is an amazing name.
HM to Alice Maestra for being a really pretty name to go with a really pretty song.
-
Now, Until the Moment You Die
or Let's All Die Together.
Maybe I just like people dying in titles >:
Perhaps it would only be a matter of learning which moves are the most useful, but I can't get past stage 1 with Cirno on lunatic. :< I still suck at fighting games, it just so happens each of the fighting games has someone who has an AI breaking attack (Yukari in IaMP), absurdly powerful moves that are god tier against story mode spell cards (Youmu in SWR), or have a great and easy to do combo when the opponent's spell gauge is drained (Meiling in UNL). Without stuff like that I'm an easy modo fighter.
It helps a little to try out Normal/Hard first, to get used to the spellcards (since you do most of them the same way on Lunatic, after all. Once you don't get hit by them much, it doesn't matter which difficulty you play for almost all of them.)
Also, Youmu actually isn't the best choice for SWR since she doesn't have a continuous dash, and about god tier spell-killing... Reisen can hax out everything with 3 perma-buffs from Grand Patriot's Elixir and a fully leveled skillcard. Youmu was probably a good choice though because you can really feel proud about winning with her. Same with Meiling in UNL, because Cirno 1cc feels like cheating :V
And basically to kill spellcards with Cirno, you usually use 5C and/or her default 236, and sometimes 6B/C. Throwing in other stuff can help, and 6C's piercing is awesome. Stack your deck with buffing system cards and four 236 skillcards, and many spellcards can end as soon as you get one Spell Break on it (Even Aya's system card was surprisingly helpful). When you spell break something, AAAA 5C 236B and then whatever after.
Oh, and on Sanae's second spellcard, it doesn't cost spirit to graze the frogs, abuse that fact to clear them out, along with maybe some 6C.
...*stops off-topic chattering*
-
I like the title "The Gods Give Us Blessed Rain". Although that might have to do with how it's raining right now. ;D
-
UFO Romance in the Night Sky.
A very official 3nd place to: Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Suziohime ~ Border of Life.
A very unofficial 2th place to: The Kappa Way as Said ~ One Way Accelerator.
-
I've always liked "Tomorrow will be sunny, yesterday was not"
Honourable mention goes to "UFO Romance in the night sky", which was nearly my pick for this
-
Now, Until the Moment You Die
I'm changing my answer to this.
-
Now, Until the Moment You Die
or Let's All Die Together.
These. Along with Hellfire Mantle and Lullaby of Deserted Hell. Honorable mentions to Complete Darkness and Casket of Star.
-
Also, Shim, questions not added to the giant list while you were gone:
Scoring system
Power
Least favorite Touhou meme
Head accessory
StB scene
Last Word
Handheld accessory
Least favorite hair
Non-game character
Spellcard background
Death fairy
Character title
Extra midboss
Survival card
-
Now, Until the Moment You Die is a weird title. :\ If it were saying what it sounds like it'd be awesome, but the "now" it uses is the same that Byakuren uses when she says "Now, in the name of the three treasures~" Taken into that context, it's nothing but a sentence fragment.

jsdsklakhskjabsfm,as
What is your favorite theme from Phantasmagoria of Flower View?
Flower Land. Next.
-
Fate of Sixty Years. Wind God Girl would win, but it is just a borrowed theme from BAiJR.
-
Flowering Night. Next.
-
All of them (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbEidQX9pw4)
-
The Flower Like the Fantasy.
Best ending theme ever.
I mean I mean I mean I mean um uh um
Higan Retour ~ Riverside View is <33 too :D
-
The Flower Like the Fantasy.
Lord Usa's Elemental Flag is great too.
-
Hm... Actually a tough choice between Flower Land (Opening is <3 ) Riverside View, and Fate of Sixty Years... Eh, gonna go with Fate of Sixty Years for the overall quality in the original. Flower Land mostly has the opening to speak for it, and Riverside View... Nice, but really its quality comes out more in remixes than the original IMO.
-
All of them, because they're all great. Except for Mystia's.
If I had to pick one, though, it'd be Higan Retour. Easily my favorite penultimate boss song in terms of belonging to a penultimate boss (as opposed to the quality of the song itself). Every other penultimate boss song is ramped up with agitation and whatnot while this piece doesn't give two shits about anything and just lazily floats down the river.
-
Edit: Whoops, accidentally answered yesterday's question, and wrote a comment about the question from two days ago. As for today's...not sure. PoFV is the one game which doesn't really have all that much memorable music, imho. I think I'm going to go with Spring Lane ~ Colourful Path and/or Higan Retour ~ Riverside View in the end, though.
(Dis)unified Field Theory of Magic, for obvious reasons :P
Also, all you people actually liking Danmaku Bounded Field yesterday should be ashamed of yourselves. Pure memorization clusterfucks are awful and should never exist, if I wanted a rhythm game I'd play StepMania instead.
-
Fate of Sixty Years. Wind God Girl would win, but it is just a borrowed theme from BAiJR.
-
In terms of new tracks only, Riverside View. Otherwise it's Phantom Ensemble by default.
-
Higan Retour ~ Riverside View, if only new tracks.
-
All of them
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbEidQX9pw4)
This, seriously.
-
Meh, I didn't enjoy much PoFV's music or it's arranges. But if I had to choose, it'd be Fate of 60 Years. It was pretty epic.
-
Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path is one of ZUN's best tracks and also one of his most ignored since everyone goes LOL DREAM BATTLE. :(
HM to Flowering Night and Wind God Girl's intro.
-
Fate of Sixty Years. HM to Wind God Girl, because I don't care if it comes from BAiJR, it is still fantastic.
-
Ghostly Band ~ Phantom Ensemble
<3<3<3
-
As far as new tracks go, Flowering Night is the only one I really like.
-
I would've gone with Phantom Ensemble, but the PoFV version doesn't sound as good as the awesome PCB version.
-
Fate of Sixty Years, of course. :V
-
Flowering Night
HM's to Fate of Sixty Years, Phantom Ensemble, Adventure of the Lovestruck Tomboy, and Colorful Path.
EDIT: How could I forget to Mention Forsaken Doll :V
-
Lord Usa's Elemental Flag.
HMs to Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path and Forsaken Doll.
-
Fate of Sixty Years, of course. :V
This. The rest is junk.
Seriously, you could atleast give Youmu her awesome theme instead of that piss poor stage theme.
-
I'm with Bananamatic. I only ever liked Fate of Sixty Years. The rest never appealed to me
-
Fate of Sixty Years.
-
Fate of Sixty Years, no contest.
-
Flowering Night. HM to Ancient Temple and Lord Usa's Elemental Flag (even if it's incredibly repetitive)
-
Fate of Sixty Years is pretty cool but i like Colourful Path as well. There is some all around decent music in PoFV actually. Not that that's weird given how ZUN composed it and stuff.
-
Crap, nobody put up a new question. Uh...uh...
What's your favorite football?
I-I like the oblong ones...heheheheheheh.
Okay, how about this?
What is your favorite Satori battle?
Self-explanatory. Don't think this has been asked yet...
My favorite is Reimu B's fight. Through all the bullshit it took to capture all her cards, I had the most fun with Suika's spell cards.
-
I only very rarely play not-Reimu-A, so I can't really answer this one EXCEPT WITH RAGE AND HATRED FOR DBDB RAAAAAAAAGH
-
I pretty much always play Reimu A =/ And I have to say... That battle is ARGH! But I cant exactly remember other battles that werent, so... Gonna just go with Reimu A here by default. And yes, DBDB RAAGEE!!!
-
I only have a lot of experience with Reimu and Marisa B, and I don't think I can choose between Suika and Patchouli's memory spells... I think I'll go with Suika's, though, because they just feel more fun. No real reason for it, I think.
-
Reimu A and Marisa B
-
Boring answer, but probably Reimu A. HMs to Reimu B/Marisa A, and a DHM to Marisa C for 'Exteeeending Aaaaarm' lasers (amongst other things).
-
ReimuB. Throwing Mt. Whatsitcalled and Pandemonium are awesome. :V
-
Border of Wave and Particle owns all :V
-
Any character, easy mode.
-
Any character, normal mode.
-
I only ever play ReimuA (I've never selected a different shot type for SA, even by accident). DBDB is stupid, but the other two are cool.
-
Either ReimuB or ReimuC.
DBDB just sucks. I couldn't even get past MarisaC's first spellcard when trying to unlock the stage and I haven't tried enough on the others. There's also the fact that I haven't even captured all of MarisaC's on Normal either.
-
ReimuC, easily. High speed dodging with no focus? Yes please. ReimuA is fun too, even if Satori's version of BoWaP is pathetically easy next to the real thing.
SA? Marisa? Who's that?
-
I wanted to nominate MarisaB on a matter of principle but I rage so bloody hard at Philosopher's Stone it's not funny. Those bullets are HUGE and I can't for the life of me capture that spell even on Normal.
The ReimuB fight is pretty fun though.
-
ReimuB by far.
-
Haven't played SA in a while, so I forget all the shot types. (Plus I've never used Marisa/Nitori or Reimu/Anybody but Yukari)
I did like the Marisa/Alice vs Satori battle though.
-
ReimuB all the way
-
Satori's version of BoWaP is pathetically easy next to the real thing.
are you shitting me
what difficulty
-
are you shitting me
what difficulty
Any of them. Imagine Lunatic BoWaP, except slightly faster/denser, and you have to be constantly in charging mode because if you don't take all the pictures fast enough BoWaP will loop and send a huge wave out and it will literally just be a wall. :V
-
watched a replay, it actually looks easier
you can photo her just after the wave part which eliminates that gay clipwall.
also, less pressure in StB. Fail, try again, repeat until you succeed.
SA - nothing better than a light speed clipwall on a 1cc attempt
fact: BoWaP made me lose 2 lives on my Hard 1cc.
also, /r StB score.dat
-
BoWaP is 1 death/bomb at most. Sometimes even none.
-
Meh, whatever I can dodge.
-
watched a replay, it actually looks easier

You're always requesting score.dats...do it yourself. :|
-
Ya, if you can't unlock the later levels, you're going to get destroyed by them.
I really should continue it, I was up to Stage level 9.
-
You're always requesting score.dats...do it yourself. :|
StB? Forget it :V
-
ReimuC for lightspeedmaku of death. Second card in particular.
-
Nitori!Satori of course. The hardest is
by far, the best of them. It more or less screams to me that I need to get better too. I prefer to dodge by reaction
. I'd give DHMs but it would apply to 3 of them.
Question, question... Let's see what hasn't been put on that list yet...
I'm certainly not thinking of many good ones, so... err...
What is your favorite Last Spell?
Please don't mix up Last Word (http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Imperishable_Night:_Last_Word_Spell_Cards)s and Last Spells please. There's one Last Spell per Stage with the exception of 6B, which has five.
I'm going with th (http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=5818)is (http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=5819) because... well... it kept me occupied for about 4 hours on and off.
...and I think I have a question ready for next week as well.
-
Last Spells are the epitome of everything I hate in IN. So I "love" them all the same.
-
Oh. Stage...5
-
Fantasy Seal - Blink is a pretty cool end to a pretty cool fight.
-
Rising World, duh.
-
Last Spells are the stupidest idea ZUN ever came up with. Hooray! You've won! Now here's something else which makes no difference at all!
Having said that, Future "Gods' Realm" is pretty cool, even more so if you adamantly refuse to memorize it.
-
Rising World and Hourai Elixir.
Those last phases :V
-
Hourai Elixir.
I hate the rest.
-
Haven't done any of 'em, aside from the Stage 6 ones, I think. I've certainly no favorite between them. :V
-
Mystia's. Just because.
If only it was remotely possible to end up seeing Marisa's
-
Hourai Elixir. HMs to Rising World [snip]
-
Last words are quite evil
It's bizarre when you're playing in normal and then, BOOM, here comes a card you can't even understand what todo.
-
Actually I don't mind Last Words at all from a gameplay standpoint. They're a bonus phase with no penalties, a chance to score extra, as a reward for players who're doing very well.
...Anyway though, my personal choice would probably be... Fantasy Seal -Blink-. Yeah, I think that's what I'll go with. I'm not actually too fond of any of them in actual design, unfortunately.
However if I can, I'd like to pick the entirity of End Of Imperishable Night as one card. That is my favourite part of the battle; there's a bit of relief since you can no longer actually fail, but a tonne of tension about seeing the climax through.
-
Hourai Elixir Lunatic. That last phase... :V
-
Never paid all that much attention to Last Spells, but I'll go along with Hourai Elixir
-
All of them, since I can't be arsed to try and clear them so I just ram the boss.
-
Imperishable Shooting.
But it's the only Last Spell that I haven't tried, so I guess that's why.
It's an amazing card, though.
-
Imperishable Shooting: 1/393
Hourai Elixir Lunatic: 0/303
Yeah, screw those spells. I'm giving this to Tele-Mesmerism despite me sucking at it.
-
Last Spells are the stupidest idea ZUN ever came up with. Hooray! You've won! Now here's something else which makes no difference at all!
lol, aside the scoring bonus on those spells. Final/Last spells are also required to be captured in spell practise or seen during gameplay for unlocking purposes. They are anything but stupid because it is "one mistake it is over" card.
Final Master Spark as last spell here. Because it is Marisa.
-
Whoo, catching-up time.
Favorite Satori Battle - Ehhhhh, Satori. Most of them, I have one or two cards that I love and then I hate the rest. Tengu Macro Burst is really fun, and so are Princess Undine and Pandemonium. I can't remember Alice's battle, I hate Yukari's battle, and Nitori!Satori should just go drown in her own Glimmering Depths :V
Last Spell - pfffffffffffffff, IN
I guess if I have to choose one, Reisen's, for being horizontal and thus completely different from everything else in the game.
-
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?! Ah, Gurren Lagann is fun times.
Who is your least favorite Stage 1 Boss?
I really can't say I care for any of them character-wise, so I'll go ahead and say Nazrin, for her last card.
-
Rika. She shouldn't be hard, and usually she isn't, but due to lol SoEW mechanics, occasionally I clip her bullets and it's back to the 2:30 worth of snoozefest known as stage 1. Dishonorable mention to Yamame. YAMAME'S SO CHEAP, SHE PAYS THE GUY TO "PLAY DANMAKU" WITH HER!
Personality-wise, Minoriko for being without a personality at all. Dishonorable mention to Nazrin.
-
Wriggle.
By default. IN is my least favourite game, after all. Boyish looks don't do anything for me either.
Similarly dishonorable mention to Nazrin for being a huge disappointment. Old Naz was better. Dual-wielding scythes. :<
-
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!
Fayt Leingod
Who is your least favorite Stage 1 Boss?
Minoriko
-
CharSort says Nazrin.
-
EDIT: Wait, I missed the least part >_< *fails*
Nazrin. Just... Nazrin. Her first card is annoying, and her second card is just utterly ridiculous.
-
I hate them all.
btw, I have a possible question in mind for tomorrow if theshim or anyone else doesn't mind.
-
Nazrin is in my bottom five characters and her last card is retarded with the shield mechanic that comes from NOWHERE and only serves to make non-MarisaA/SanaeB play harder.
-
I'd say Wriggle, if only because I'm not fond of bugs.
-
Wriggle and Minoriko, for (mostly) different reasons. Sure, Nazrin's last card is bullshit, but I can forgive that and then some more, Nazrin is <3
Rika
occasionally I clip her bullets
how the hell do you manage that
-
how the hell do you manage that
No focus.
-
No focus.
^_-
-
Yamame. THAT OPENER. I fail it EVERY FREAKING TIME.
DHM to Rumia and Letty because they're boring to fight.
-
Wriggle.
By default. IN is my least favourite game, after all. Boyish looks don't do anything for me either.
Seconding this.
-
Rumia from EoSD. It lacks the opener feeling for a touhou game.
-
I've only played the windows games, so out of them, I'd say Yamame mostly because she's not all that memorable. Her mid-boss is more memorable than her.
-
btw, I have a possible question in mind for tomorrow if theshim or anyone else doesn't mind.
Do this (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=4434.msg230321#msg230321) and I'll consider it.
(Nah, just kidding, it's all yours.)
-
Wriggle. DHM to Orange for being Orange.
-
Yamame, Yamame, YAMAME!!!
-
I've only played the windows games, so out of them, I'd say Yamame mostly because she's not all that memorable. Her mid-boss is more memorable than her.
-
Nazrin, because she also reappears later with curving lasers. THAT is inexcusable.
-
I want to say Rika. But I can't because I never played SoEW.
So instead I'm gonna say Rumia because lol EoSD.
-
Yamame. She's the reason I have over 200 attempts on Kisume's midboss card on one of the shottypes. Fucking opener. Final card sometimes gets me, but not as much as that.
Minoriko also gets a mention for how easy it is to die on some of her stuff.
Wriggle's fine as a boss, it's her midboss that fucks a run up, not the boss fight.
-
I found Rumia's fight kind of boring (managed to clear it on my suicidal Lunatic runs with only 1 error every time, and I'm an Easy/Normal player). I don't dislike her as a character, and I haven't played much PC-98, but I'll stick to that answer.
-
Letty.
I've checked- her card's curvy lasers kill me more than Shou's. Also, the rest of her fight is the most boring out of all the Stage 1s.
-
Yamame or Nazrin.
-
NAZRIN. I don't actually mind her as a character, but after seeing her for the 400th time or so while grinding UFO Lunatic... you get the idea. :V
-
Rumia, due to her battle being generally boring to the point where I can hardly even remember it.
-
Yamame, Due to her theme being my favourite stage 1 theme tune
-
Yamame, Due to her theme being my favourite stage 1 theme tune
I think you misread the question. The question was LEAST favorite stage 1 boss. :V
-
I'll go with Rumia as well.
-
Nazrin
Pendulum Guard is retarded clipshit and causes way too many restarts.
-
Whatshername from Mountain of Faith, for being one of the few characters I find forgettable. I can't even remember her name :V
-
Whatshername from Mountain of Faith, for being one of the few characters I find forgettable. I can't even remember her name :V
Minoriko
-
Minoriko
Sounds about right, I guess.
-
Oh right I said I'd do this today. :x Here's one that hopefully might make you think a bit:
Which Touhou boss has the prettiest bullet patterns?
lol no PC-98 4 u
I'll be my biased self and go with Yuyuko. PCB was my first Touhou game, and her boss attacks were the first to truly blow me away with their visual aesthetic. HMs to Eirin for the cool use of the red/blue motif and Sanae for starmaku.
-
It's funny; only recently have I actually begun to look at the bullet patterns themselves again. I'll have to abstain from answering for the same reason I can't answer the song title question: There's so many it's impossible to keep track of them all long enough to form an opinion. If I had to answer right here and now though, Kaguya's keep coming to my mind as particularly good, especially her last spells.
-
Because UFO was my first Touhou game, Byakuren.
HMs to the Prismrivers (those last two spells <3), Keine, Eirin, Kaguya's last spells
, Satori, and Utsuho's sunmaku.
-
Pretty, eh?
Tough to call. VoWG is bloody glorious, as are almost all of Yuyuko's attacks, and Danmaku Bounded Field, but I think i give this to Mokou for throwing Phoenixes at you and for IMPERISHABLE SHOOTING (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD9lM-jOrJg&fmt=18#t=3m58s) (that gets me every time).
-
Ichirin
-
Hard to choose between Yuyuko and Suwako, so I'll give it to both. Yuyuko's danmaku really match well with her multiple backgrounds, and Suwako's create some very exotic patterns.
-
Koishi. Rorschash in Danmaku is absolutely mesmerizing.
-
Marisa.
Stars and laser yeaaa.
-
Hard Question, but yeah maybe Marisa.
-
Prettiest I would say Yuyuko. HM to Meiling since I love the colorings so much on them.
-
Utsuho for Explosion Sign
Yuyuko for Flowery Soul, Repository of Hirokawa, and of course Resurrection Butterfly. Honourable mention to Patchy for her cards in StB, especially Satellite Himawari.
-
Utsuho and Mokou.
-
Marisa and Byakuren I think
-
Yuyuko and Marisa.
Pretty pretty colors
-
(http://f.imagehost.org/0280/58722.jpg)
Satori. This is the prettiest attack in Touhou.
-
Yeah, Satori's midspells are beautiful. I'll have to go with that, with an HM to Devil's Recitation, although that's more "holy shit awesome" than pretty.
-
Just about every spellcard Byakuren has is gorgeous.
I like some of Eirin's attacks too though. The inverted bullets are nice.
-
Yeah, Satori has some pretty cool looking spells. I like Orin's Midboss card in SA Stage 6 though
-
Everything Byakuren has. Her spellcards are beauty unmatched.
HMs to Yuyuko, whose danmaku is also excellent. Satori and Eirin as well for the red-blue colour interplay.
-
(http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/touhou/images/b/b7/StBsc81.jpg) (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/touhou/images/2/21/Th07sc141.jpg) (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/touhou/images/2/2a/StBsc80.jpg)
Well, yeah.
-
Yuyuko. HM to Yuka.
-
Marisa and Mokou, though Kanako deserves an honourable mention due to VoWG.
-
Utsuho. There giant suns give the fight a completely different feeling compared to others :V
-
Gotta give this one to Byakuren. All of the cards are very interesting to look at, especially LFO; playing through that card feels less like dodging bullets and more like dancing with them. And of course, Devil's Recitation, which I don't think I really need to explain. :V HM to Kanako.
-
I kinda wanna lame and play favorites, but I think I'll hand this one off to Eirin. I like the patterns her spell cards make more than anything else. I will say that Patchouli's spells are very pretty, though... And I like how they can all look different yet retain the Wu Xing theme.
-
Yuyuko, Byakuren, and Suwako.
HM's to Shou, The Prismrivers, Sanae, Flandre, and Yukari
-
Going with Byakuren on this one. Those glowing purple bullets on her first card stand out to me more than anything else in the series to me O_O;
-
Late answer, eh. I'll have to go with Donut and say Kaguya, for rainbow Danmaku, and the fact that I think "Brilliant Dragon Bullet" is a pretty name.
-
I was going to mention Alice, but then I realised it is the touhou boss. Alice's last word: Phantom of the Grand Guinol is imo one of the most beautiful patterns. But for the boss I have to go with:
Kirisame Marisa. Overhyped Satori or stupid Koishi have nothing on her.
Astroid Belt, Event Horizon, Non Directional Laser and Shoot The Moon. These cards 'blow away' the competition.
Overall Marisa beats them because both her NCs and SCs are colorful and pretty and perfectly fitting the harmony of Music + Danmaku + Character. Without harmony, the boss will be ugly, no matter what kind of pattern it makes.
-
the harmony of Music + Danmaku + Character. Without harmony, the boss will be ugly, no matter what kind of pattern it makes.
Not just Marisa. Everyone has this.
And Satori's is perfect.
-
Ooh, I hate having to think up new ones on the spot...can't anyone else pick up the slack? D:
Uuuuuuuh...
What is your favorite Daily Touhou question?
Lemee alone it's 3:00 AM. :<
-
If Donut doesn't like his question I'll ask one :V
What is your favorite spellcard name?
I'm gonna go with Flying Fantastica on this one. It's such an amazing name. HM to Legendary Flying Object, Brilliant Dragon Bullet, and Repository of Hirokawa. Also everything GREAT CATFISH has.
-
Not just Marisa. Everyone has this.
And Satori's is perfect.
I disagree, but then again that is not the purpose of this thread nor the place to discuss.
-

What is my favorite Daily Touhou question? "What is your favorite Daily Touhou question?", obviously.
If Donut doesn't like his question I'll ask one :V
What is your favorite spellcard name?
Hm, so many choices. Nitori has a bunch of my favorites, including Trauma in the Glimmering Depths, Monster Cucumber (one of the few non-Lunatic spellcard names I know), and Exteeeeeeeeeeeending Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarm. Other assorted favorites would be Froggy Braves the Elements, Border of Wave and Particle, and Genetics of the Subconscious.
I'm going with Froggy Braves the Elements, HM's to the rest.
-
Flying Fantastica is the best <3
HM to Hino Phantasm, Charming Siege from All Sides, Life Spring Infinity, Rising World, Emperor of the East, Total Purification, Saigyouji Flawless Nirvana, Peerless Wind God, Gray Thaumaturgy, Yamato Torus, Virtue of Wind God, Froggy Braves the Elements, Mishaguji-sama, Grandpa Hanasaka, Small Demon's Revival, Nuclear Excursion, Ten Evil Stars, Hell's Artificial Sun, Rorschach in Danmaku, Philosophy of a Hated Person, Subterranean Rose, Radiant Treasure Gun, Complete Clarification, Devil's Recitation, St.Nikou's Air Scroll, Danmaku Chimaera and Nightmare of Heiankyou.

Froggy Braves the Elements. It's the most EPIC name EVAR!
-
Suika's SWR card before it got an appropriate decryption.
Was something akin to
"Massacre Everyone".
rather than "Massacre on Mt. Ooe"
Awesome.
-
I thought we did that one...but maybe we didn't.
I'm sure there are ones I like better, but the one that pops out in the sleep-deprived Donut's mind is DIVINE VIRTUE OF THE WIND GOOOOOOOOOOD. :dragonforce:
-

-
No new question? Alright then:
What would you most like to see in Touhou 13?
This can be anything - a playable character, a returning boss, a new mode, the game's setting/motif (e.g. underwater) or even the style of the game itself (e.g. VS shooter).
Personally, I'd renounce my faith in Kanako not really
if ZUN would include some decent Practice Mode options for once. Playing Genetos has probably spoiled me in this respect, but having the option to skip straight to a stage's boss or set your Power level would be excellent. Heck, throw in a Boss Rush mode too while you're at it.
-
Tewi as the main character, with the objective being to piss everyone else off. :V
-
- Sanae being playable again
- IN style gameplay
- if not IN, then maybe a Phantasmagoria game, I mean we already had another "trilogy"; not to mention a Phantasmagoria game is always a fanservice game (before bashing: ZUN said this in one of his interviews, that PoFV is a fanservice game)
- if it's a Phantasmagoria game, please, reintroduce some PC-98 characters, Makai is open again now, there's a chance for a Shinki
- finish up MoF's story, and introduce the God of the Hakurei Shrine already, and why she's angry. Even Byakuren said in one of the endings that the Hakurei Shrine has a God and it's very angry
- it can work is that God is Mima
- if not the above, then a goddamn beautiful underwater setting.
-
No stupid UFO-esque gimmick >:(
-
Hard to choose one so heres my top3:
1. Alice (prefer as playable character)
2. Mystia,playable or not
3. 2-player mode,perhaps something similar to PoFV
-
Spell practice.
-
- Anything but a Phantasmagoria game.
- Only Reimu and Marisa are playable so that those Sakuya fanboys wouldn't have any reason to piss at anyone else.
- PCB/IN's life scheme.
- Phantasm Stage.
- Getting to a stage immediately unlocks that stage in Practice Mode (seriously ZUN, why the hell do I have to CLEAR a stage before I'm allowed to PRACTICE it ?)
- Spell cards that require skill, not memorization (IN, I'm looking at you)
- And because of that, NO SPELL PRACTICE, PLEASE. It was IN's excuse for its horrible difficulty.
- Underwater settings. Give me a sea already.
-
-Superdy Duper Extraphantasmtacular Bonus Stage
-Breaking of the fourth wall like in SA
-
UFO-style danmaku with SA's life system. PLEASE GOD no more UFOs. :V Anything else would be a bonus, that'd be my ideal Touhou game right there.
-
I'm very curious as to where ZUN can go in Gensokyo he hasn't already treaded. We've been to mansions, the netherworld and subsequently exploring Winter, the bamboo forest and subsequently exploring nighttime, the mountains and exploring Spring, the youkai mountain and exploring fall, the heavens, underground, and back to Makai while exploring the sky. About the only themes I can think of that ZUN hasn't focused on are water and forests, and since Gensokyo is landlocked...
Anyway, what do I want to see? NO MORE HITBOX SIZE DIFFERENCES. Make a freaking second loop if you want, just don't make me blacklist a bunch of shot types just because they have fat hitboxes.
-
Have a lot of gimmick/memorization attacks that are completely impossible to sightread-capture. Bonus points if they involve lasers. Also, replace all the point items with gold coins.
-
Shoot the Bullet 2.
-
Another Phantasmagoria game.
-
Shoot the Bullet 2.
I will bring the blackest of death down upon you all if this is the case.
Really, I'd be happy with anything that isn't as retarded as the UFO system, and a good S4 gimmick. I still think my prediction for UFO would have been awesome (you fight the other two together).
-
* Spell practice
* If ZUN brings back a pc-98 character (I don't really care if he does or not), they had better get an awesome remix of their original theme.
-
MOTHERFUCKING CO-OP! NETPLAY INCLUDED!
Screw that IN/SA thing, let two players control them both! Includes three modes, co-op story mode, high-score mode, and survival mode.
Now wouldn't that be a thing?
-
...I agree that Netplay Co-op would be awesome.
But I would never play it because I'd just cause detriment to the other player.
:V
I imagine that it would be somewhat beyond reason to do though. Desyncs and lag would cause major problems in a danmaku game.
-

:V

Well if your PC can run PoFV netplay fine, it could probably run this one fine too. When playing online though, you will mostly see yourself, and the other player will be slightly transparent so s/he won't distract you while dodging. Also, on your screen it will show you overlapping the other player, so you can still locate yourself. The other player may seem desynced, but it really won't matter since the game will really focus on you.
Also, 1up boxes will give BOTH players 1ups instead of whoever gets it first in story mode. Also, if the other player loses all lives, that same player will go into spectator mode until the other player either gains a life or loses all of his/her lives.
-
TOUHOUS UNDERWATER
Also same hitbox sizes for all characters. A mode that lets you skip right to the boss would be pretty nice too.
-
I'd really like another Phantasmagoria with a Shoot the Bullet 2 added onto it (Touhou 13.5?).
-
Random generated stage. Not having the same fairy patterns over and over again, have them come from the left, next time from the top, MAYBE EVEN THE BOTTOM?!!!
But maybe that would be unforgiving in lunatic, therefor we must have UNLIMITED STAGE! Yes, a stage without an end. You start and face one random patterns of fairies, with different shots/colors/angles, every x minutes a miniboss appears with a certain setup. Either 1 noncard, a card and survival card. 2 non cards 2 spellcards. Or 1 immune-to-bomb card with a big reward if you survive. I guess a this-much-points-per-life system would work best in this mode, with the ammount needed gradually raising. Scoreboards will include difficulty, time survived, points gained, life/bombs left incase you quit early, capture cards consistently for bonus streaks, survive X minutes in a row to multiply points gain by 1,5/2/2,5 etc.
the possibilities are endless :-\
-
6/7/8 life system, no useless shottypes, creditfeeding allowed.
And boss practice.
-
And boss practice.
Take it one step further; boss rush.
-
Take it one step further; boss rush.
DOOM mode
-
Hell yeah, Boss rush.
Spell practice and/or Netplay would be pretty sweet though.
-
touhou needs a freaking
TRUE LAST BOSS
and don't say that extra stage is a TLB
-
Kaguya kind of counts due to the 1cc requirement.
But yeah, I'd love to see a TLB.
-
A TLB should have complete bomb immunity.
It should appear only on lunatic after a 1cc...it's usually the extra challenge you have to do in order to conquer the entire game.
It's not ALL when you die at the TLB. And stuff :V
And it should be reflex based. No memorization shenanigans.
-
>Another second Extra Stage like PCB had would be awesome.
>[insert characters I really like here] as playable, but everyone probably wants that x3
and most importantly,
>INTRODUCE THE DAMN HAKUREI SHRINE GOD ALREADY D:
She's only been mentioned in each of the last three Sh'mups, and we know diddly squat about her, except that she is apparently mad. Probably because Reimu doesn't get any worshippers.
-
A second extra stage which isn't a freaking copy with higher speed but almost no extra difficulty.
Why does zun rate extra above hard and lunatic.
-
EoSD/IN style danmaku and life system. Continues start you from where you left off. Spell Practice.
And a lighter humorous tone like EoSD's.
Or, this:
Shoot the Bullet 2.
-
Shoot the Bullet 2.
-
MAYBE EVEN THE BOTTOM?!!!
No. That is stupid and horrible game design.
Also a TLB is taunting anyone who isn't good enough to reach it. >_>
-
No. That is stupid and horrible game design.
Also a TLB is taunting anyone who isn't good enough to reach it. >_>
Which makes them get better and reach it.
In the end, everyone wins.
-
Also a TLB is taunting anyone who isn't good enough to reach it. >_>
So pretty much every extra stage ever.
Yes, I've cleared a few of those myself, but I am under no illusions that everyone can do the same. Some people are just really bad at danmaku, and they'll never see all the characters in-game that they've seen in fanart.
Banana: That's another possible outcome, and the ideal one. But don't fool yourself into thinking that everyone can do that. I've known people that worked their asses off to beat IN easy (for some reason, they're usually artists; writers and artists tend to be REALLY bad at danmaku, I've noticed), and that's fine with me. Not everyone is meant to be a danmaku player, after all.
-
Also a TLB is taunting anyone who isn't good enough to reach it. >_>
Extra bosses do this too; the only difference is that an Extra boss requires less skill than this hypothetical TLB. It would be the logical next step (or few steps) up. :V Come to think of it, I'm extremely curious what a Touhou TLB would be like, since I've only ever seen the Cave variety...
[Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.]
Damnit, Ruro. :<
Still, I agree with Banana - it's something to strive for above beating the same bosses over again with more, faster bullets.
-
Well, SOME people get really angry if you assume that people will get better to achieve the goal. Sure that's the intention, but...
-
Oh yeah, a Phantasm Stage that's not Extra + faster bullets. That's why Yukari's usually regarded as so easy considering her position as "Phantasm boss;" basically everything you learned while fighting Ran applies to her.
-

Hey, I've been writing for years and I'm pretty good at Danmaku. Not Lunatic-clearing (yet), but I'm working on Hard and have come very close to several Hard 1ccs and almost cleared every Windows Extra at this point (KOISHI RAGE)...
...Also I love that the opener for this question mentions Genetos, considering I just beat that on Creator with an S+ while recording and am uploading that now (very very slowly D: )... but yeah. I really like the idea of an adjustable Stage Practice, considering that, for instance, always starting stage 6 in UFO at exactly 2 power is... highly unrealistic considering it's always either 1 or 4 for me @_@
My personal thoughts:
*I actually liked the UFO gimmick. One of the reasons I don't like MoF that much is that there's no real reward for risky playing (Grazing), and UFO rewarded you for risky playing in two ways (UFOs and Graze Bonuses). I like a scoring system that rewards you more and more for playing riskier and riskier.
*More bloody unlockables! I know it sounds bad but really I'd like to have a return of Last Words or extra characters or an extra extra stage or something. Having the game deliberately reward you for doing stuff you might not normally strive to do is always encouraging (so long as its not a tedious task).
*I want to fight another player character during the next one. Whether this means Phantasmagoria or just a 4/8-style "Vs. Other Protagonist" match, I don't care. I want a variable boss battle.
-
writers and artists tend to be REALLY bad at danmaku
Lunatic writer/artist here. Daytime job at the bank is an accident, honest.
UFO rewarded you for risky playing
Wrong, UFO kicks you in the teeth, then kicks you in the teeth again, then it kicks your dog. In the teeth. And then that red UFO fragment changes to blue. And kicks you in the teeth.
What would you most like to see in Touhou 13?
IKU
Failing that: another Phantasmagoria, or another Shoot the Bullet.

I'd like to have IN's you-can-get-good-end-on-easy-mode to return. I can't 1CC any of the games on normal, yet I want to see the true endings. That's how I usually play games; go through easy mode for the story, then try harder levels for challenging gameplay. Having to play through the game multiple times just to see the end is really frustrating.

You can get Good Ends on Easy Mode with SA and UFO... D:
and PoFV, and maybe PCB too.
-
You can good good endings on every game's easy mode except for LLS, EoSD, and MoF. It's just that you can't unlock extra on any game past IN on easy mode. :\ I see why ZUN does it, but it does obviously cause frustration to those who can't 1cc normal.
-
To be fair, if you can only 1cc Easy, you don't stand a chance in an Extra Stage :V
-
What I want in Touhou 13? Byakuren replacing Reimu as the main character~ *brutally shot, stabbed, and overall mutilated until nothing is left by Reimu fans*
>.<
Maybe also spell practice like in IN, supernatural borders like in PCB, but less game breaking *glances back at Prismriver fight that is easier on Lunatic than Normal* and... Not really sure what else.
Really, as long as it has awesome music, and isnt as UTTERLY STUPID as UFO, I dont have a problem. The UFO system feels like fake difficulty to me, and it is hair-tearingly difficult... Though part of me does like the idea of having somewhere else to go once the other games get easy.
...Actually, one thing I would find interesting to see would be a special mode where enemies have all have more spellcards, for longer, more epic battles. And of course, music that takes account for the length of those battles in that mode, rather than having < 1 minute long tracks on stage 1 bosses :'(
-
writers and artists tend to be REALLY bad at danmaku, I've noticed)
>:(
[ruro]Emka says hi.[/ruro]
and that's fine with me. Not everyone is meant to be a danmaku player, after all.
No, all you need is practice :V
[ruro]Emka says hi again.[/ruro]
-
PoDD Hard is surprisingly easy. And it gave me an idea!
EDIT: goddamnit
-
Hasn't this been asked before?
I think my answer was Shikieiki's last time. If it wasn't, then I changed my mind.
-
Hasn't this been asked before?
Yes, I believe it has.
-
bugger bugger buggerall
it was "accessory" last time and I wasn't here
you all suck
brb thinking up new question
-
ye'll pay fer this
Who is your favorite animal-type youkai?
I'm going to go with Utsuho for this one. Quoth Chernobyl-tan "nevermore".
-
Orin, Nazrin, Momiji, and Chen
-
Utsuho
-
Neko Miko Reimu
Genji, since nobody else is an animal-type :V
Ran.
-
Momiji~<3
Honorable mentions to Chen, Ran, Orin, and Utsuho.
Amazing, my favorites happen to be the ones that usually maul me in-game
-
Ran.
-
Orin or Ran. Can't really decide.
-
Nekoishi.
And Orin and Momiji.
-
Nekoishi.
* smack
-
I sure hope Nitori counts.
If that doesn't work, Utsuho.
-
Chen and Utsuho
-
I sure hope Nitori counts.
I wouldn't think so. Kappa are specifically mythological anyway.
-
So are Yatagarasu :V
Edit: Oh hey, Opera's spell checker thinks Yatagarasu is a mispelling of either Stratagem, Parasitology, Protagoras or Categorize
-
First one to post Aya
-
But she was a regular raven before consuming the yatagarasu, so yeah.
First one to post Aya
>:(
-
Utsuho for sure. But you saw that coming, didn't you?
HM to Ran since I've always been a fan of foxes.
-
Utsuho.
Those wings are hot.
-
Utsuho if a Yatagarasu counts, and Mystia if it doesn't. Mysti~<3
No, fuck it. Utusho's awesome and higher on my favorites list, but it's more for her cape, personality, and abilities. Mystia's bird-ness is cuter~
-
Mystia.
Orin is also a good option but does not match Mystia's cuteness
-
All of 'em, but mainly the Yakitori up above.
-
As far as I'm concerned Kanako counts because of the snakes. :V
HM to Mystia, Ran and Aya
-
Momiji!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
NeKoishi.
Don't give a fucking damn about others.
NO I DON'T FUCKING CARE IF SHE'S FANON.
...
Okay fine I'll choose one.
It's a tie between Nazrin and Utsuho. Utsuho for being badass and hot, and Nazrin for awesome dowsing rods and moe appearance.
-
Utsuho, of course. Aya would come second I guess, I dunno
-
is lawn gnome an animal?
-
Utusho. :V
-
Unnamed Giant Catfish.
-
(http://i.imagehost.org/0450/5368.png)
On the basis that Kanako isn't a snake youkai and Nue isn't a monkey/raccoon dog/tiger/cat/chicken/snake/whatever youkai.
-
I'm going to tie up between Wriggle (Who's an insect and therefore sort of on a technicality sort is) and Momiji (Who's a white wolf, but also a tengu, so again, sort of technicality).
-
Mystia.
Orin is also a good option but does not match Mystia's cuteness
Oh, how could I forget Mystia?! Add her to my huge list of honorable mentions~
-
Momiji, by far.
Mystia and Nazrin are some of the worst characters ever created btw
-
Utsuho and Aya for being badass and hot.
-
Ayayaya~
-
(http://f.imagehost.org/0888/787856.jpg)
Lack of Iku mentions is disheartening, so I'm amending my earlier answer to give an HM to Iku. And Utsuho.
-
Chen
-
Orin
-
Utsuho and Chen :3
-
Okay what? Where's today's question?
Hijack'd
Which Touhou character has the best name?
Yeah. Their names in general. Nick's don't count. I might reserve that for another day in case we forget again.
For me, I would say Watatsuki no Toyohime because damn that's a long name, or Captain Murasa for having FUCKING CAPTAIN in it, but my vote goes to Koishi predictably. Mostly because every time it's mentioned I just a warm feeling inside of me.
-
inb4Shiki
Instead of being predicatbo and choosing Shinki, I'll say Orange has the best name, simply because it reminds me of my favorite soda.
-

I forgot about Siki. She goes on the HM list.
-
Fatty Whiterock
Kurenai Misuzu
Teruyo
Hm. I think I'll say Nue for being Exactly What It Says On The Tin (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin). HM to Chiyuri Kitashirakawa for having the longest name to date and Mystia Lorelei because I like the sound of it.
-
Yukari Yakumo. I just like saying it.
-
Shikieiki Yamaxanadu and Keine Kamishirasawa, of course! (They also have the best HATS in Gensokyo! Coincidence? I think not!)
HM to Byakuren Hiziri, because her name just sounds badass.
-
Yakumo Yukari, good on the tongue.
Hm to Ruro.
-
Koishi and Byakuren Hijiri, of course :V
HM to Letty Whiterock, Lunasa/Lyrica, Yuyuko Saigyouji, Kaguya Houraisan, Fujiwara no Mokou, Shikieiki, Aya Shameimaru and Kanako Yasaka.
-
I'm definitely gonna have to go with Yukari Yakumo (http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Curiosities_of_Lotus_Asia:_Chapter_25) on this one.
-
Shikieiki Yamaxanadu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAoUgKVpe10), of course. :V
-
Yukari Yakumo is a badass name, sorry to follow everyone else. Also like Jana said, there's an entire chapter of CoLA devoted to explaining just how awesome her name is.
HM to Reimu Hakurei. I've noticed that Reimu is one of the few characters where if you type her first name into Google, you'll find results about Touhou exclusively. Is "Reimu" even a normal name? Yuka Kazami is also an aesthetically pleasing name.
-
I prefer the Western names to the Japanese ones, so Alice Margatroid, Remilia Scarlet, Letty Whiterock and Medicine Melancholy. If I had to pick from the Japanese ones it'd be Fujiwara no Mokou, Nue Houjuu, Yamame Kurodani, Kanako Yasaka and...
Captain Murasa Minamitsu, much as it pains me to admit it.
-
Alice Margatroid.
Especially when you say it Arisu Māgatoroido like how you're supposed to say it. :V
-
Alice Margatroid is a good one. Gives off a slight sense of power when I say it.
I'll say Utsuho Reiuji too, but that's because is Utsuho. :V
-
Fujiwara no mokou *shivers*
-
I like the name Nazrin.
-
Cirno
-
Yukari Yakumo, Fujiwara no Mokou, Cirno and Rikako Asakura.
Oh, and Ellen Fuwafuwaatama Aureus.
-
I'll go with Shikieiki Yamaxanadu. It just gives off a sense of power somehow
-
Raymoo.
-
Alice Margatroid.
-
Let's see, for today, I shall say Mystia Lorelei.
latelatelatelatelate
I'm almost out of ideas for questions. So this will be my last. Maybe.
Oddly enough, this question hasn't been asked yet, though many similar questions have.
What is your most favorite Stage 1 Boss?
I choose Yamame.
/me runs
-
Myself Uhh, I'll go with Nazrin, then. >_>
-
Rumia, with Wriggle at a close second.
-
Yamame as well
Does this include midbosses?
If so Shizuha
-
Yamame as well
Does this include midbosses?
If so Shizuha
Pretty much this on both accounts.
-
They all suck. :V
If this included midbosses, though, Kisume by far.
-
(http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6108/7791485m.jpg)
;_;
Honorable mentions to Orange and Yamame.
-
Letty Whiterock. Winter is my favorite season after all.
-
Minoriko
HM's to Rumia, Wriggle, and Rika
-
(http://f.imagehost.org/0962/0437416.jpg)
And Yamame, but I already put a picture of her up recently.
-
Yamame. Letty's not bad either, but she still doesn't match up.
-
Nazrin, Minoriko and Letty.
-
Minoriko
-
Wriggle, for being delicious reverse trap.
-
Stage 1 bosses all suck and are terrible things.
-
lily white, I say.
-
lily white, I say.
What is your most favorite Stage 1 Boss?
:V
-
Nazrin.
Everyone else sucks compared to her.
-
Orange, because she strikes me as being hilarious. I'm not entirely sure why. :V
-
Nazrin for actually being fun and mostly fair.
Dishonorable mentions to
Rika for messed up SoEW hitboxes and the long stage
Rumia for Lunatic Demarcation
Letty for being boring(at least on Hard, not sure about Lunatic)
Wriggle for her midboss card(or not if I can't use this as a reason)
Minoriko due to near instant random lasers
Yamame for the opener.
Damn do I hate Stage 1 on Lunatic.(except for UFO, and the few I still play on Hard)
-
Which Touhou character has the best name?
Reimu.
What is your most favorite Stage 1 Boss?
Rika. "Mini 「Eternal Meek」"!
-
I'll go with Nazrin, with HMs to Letty and Wriggle for actually being cool characters.
-
Nazrin, for actually having a bullet type of her own in those prism pendulums and thus not having a completely forgettable battle.
-
I hate them all. Though it's not so much that I find the fights themselves are all that horrible, it's just that I've fought them all a hundred billion times more than they really deserve.
-
Nameless Enemy Battleship from DDP
uh, probably Rumia because she's easy to perfect.
-
Wriggle, I guess. I'm not too fond of stage 1 bosses.
-
Don't know if I'll bother making a fourth, we've asked a hell of a lot of stuff.
I guess Rumia. Again, I must echo the sentiment that Stage 1 bosses = bleh.
