>Ah, hell. Bats, right?
>Try to shield your head/face with your arms and scrabble out of there

>You don't know if they are bats, but it certainly seems like a good guess.
>You shield your face and with your arms and try to get out to there. Every so often, something slams into your back, which the cacophony of shrieks is long enough to make it hard to think! You feel something tugging against your hair!

>Manically flail your arms in the general region of whatever is doing this tugging and try to shake off whatever it is
>Don't stop running

>You flail your arms manically, but that doesn't really seem to discourage the tugging at all.
>You keep running, stumble, and nearly fall as the floor levels out again. The cacophony is mostly ahead of your now. You don't seem anything moving around you.

>Does it seem like a living thing, tugging on us, or could we just have gotten tangled in something?

>Try to pull it out. Carefully, at first. Might only make things worse if we tug too hard. Use more force if necessary, though

>You try to pull it out, but its flailing wings don't make this easy, nor does the chance it might bite you...
>You're trying very hard not to freak out. It's just a bat... only a bad...it's a bat...oh god.

>So, uh... are we on the other side of the bats from when we started? Like, farther into the cave? Or did we backtrack... hopefully we don't need to go through bats again to get farther... unless this is the wrong way altogether.

>You turned back. And...you're not sure if this is the right way or not.

>Well, we only stared at her AFTER she got knocked out... but that was still probably scarier than a bat...

>...Maybe it was. You didn't have an oni wriggling about in your hair.
>The bat flies off, squeaking in what you imagine is mutual disgust. It's quieted down a lot, though you can hear a few distant squeaks.

Considering there wasn't bats in the other Purvis' quest stuff, we should probably go the other way.

>Walk back to the intersection and take the other way because oh my god bats.

>If we're not sure which way that was, try moving AWAY from the smell
>Walk back to the intersection and take the other way because oh my god bats.

>You make your way back to the crossroads, and decide that the way out probably wouldn't be full of bat crap
>You head southeast. After a little time, the path starts to rise again. You also start to notice spider webs in the stalactites, some of them with bats caught in them. ...You shudder at the memory that brings up. God, you wish you could wash your hands! Curiously enough, one of the webs seems to have writing in its strands, though a bat partially obscures it: "Shop at Kou-" Obvious exits are northwest and south.

>You keep going forward!
>It is definitely getting less gloomy, which burgeons your spirits a little bit.  The cavern floor is growing more broken and irregular, making it a bit slower to pick your way through. Up ahead...you see a blonde woman in a poofy brown dress dangling from the ceiling by a line, pulling bats from a web.
