Well I'm going to proceed to tell you tell you about the event so far since I completed a portion of it:
E-1: The Campan Gulf Campaign: Sub nukingHonestly, if you don't know how to fight subs at this point, then I'll be baffled because honestly this map is insanely easy... EVEN on hard.
You put
Kasumi as your flagship, and then fight some subs, go south, fight surface ship like destroyers and light cruisers for two nodes. And then you just fight the boss...
Submarine HimeLet's face it, one would expect her to be a troublesome opponent. Since she's quite tanky, but in this event she seems to have been toned down a bit. She comes with 2 Ka-class subs, a light cruiser and some late model destroyers.
All which are easy to kill even without guns.
Best recommended crew is to have Kasumi, some CLs, a light carrier, and an Aviation Battleship. It's more than enough to nuke her and her team.
Honestly this is the one time I did a run where every run ends with a successful win with no fails at the boss node... it was a bit.... too easy...
Once that over I got my rewards, which included some basic Mamiya/ Irako and Repair Goddess stuff follow up with this....
The 16 in. Triple Gun Mount Mk.7The famous
Iowa class gun that forshadows what's to come in the future. Now we can own one... if you beat the sub hime on hard mode.
Oh and if you explore the nodes to the east, you can partake in something new which I reffer to as a "Land Based Air Attack Node" where you'll find an Airfeild Hime armed with these.
Abyssal Land Based BombersThese new abyssal planes are different as they are more larger and can in some occasions land a heavy blow. But otherwise they're pretty trivial. There's also the stronger
Ace Bomber version as well.
You're going to be fighting these just about anytime you meet an airfield hime in this event. So bring some
Air Defense might be a good idea.
Your rank on these battles is dependent on how much damage you take. That's about it.
E-2 Operation Rei-Go: Revenge Against the NerdOn this mission you're assigned to go to the Mindoro Island to attack the beach head where a
Supply Depot rests.
This map features something new which I can reffer to is
"Mutiple Starting Paths" The path you start on for this map is dependent on who you have.
The most important thing to note is that for Operation Rei-Go, bring
Team Rei-Go "Kasumi, Ooyodo, Ashigara, Kiyoshimo, and Asashimo" along with one other ship (Aviation Cruiser it the best option to go with here) will automaticlly set you on the
North Starting Path which is deemed to be the easier path to go.
I don't know much about the southern path, but I have heard it's manageable, just more intense compared to what Team Rei-Go" goes through.
The following is based on my routing taking
Team Rei-Go:
You start off fighting subs which are mostly easy, followed up with a branching path which isn't hard to consider... (You go east)....then you fight a few surface ship fights, an Air Attack from land based planes, and then
PT-Imp Groups which have been underfed slightly since the last event they're still annoying, but more manageable now.
Then finally you reach the supply Depot where you fight...
The Supply Depot HimeAs you probably know, the Supply Depot Hime is a
Installation Type so for me:
WG42s and Type 3 shells are a MUST for her. She's not very strong so the effects of the
WG42s are actually noticable on her. As long as you have on DD (prefferable Kasumi) on Air Defense node and the rest of the team on offense. You should be able to pick her off. She comes with a few transports and DDs in tow.
The final kill however she get really peeved.
She becomes weaker in terms of HP, but stronger in her plane count and offensive strength. Along with that, she has 3 PT boats replace the DD ships from before hand. It's a manageable fight except you're more likely to have more trouble getting up to her than the fight with her.
The enemy fleets become tougher in route to the final kill and her fleet is also somewhat tough as well. She is however manageable... I had to resort to a boss suppot since I wanted her taken down in one go.... which is what happened....once I got to her.
Ashigara delivers the final kill upon her which ended this battle and with that...
Counter Attack Operation "Operation Rei-Go" is completed! And so I earned the next
Akizuki Air Defense DD - HatsuzukiJust like any other Air Defense DD, Hatsuzuki is going to have very high AA to help take down planes, which will make her role quite productive when combating planes. So she's worth training along with her sisters. Of course like all members of the Akizuki class she pocesses a
10cm HA gun + AA Director which are always useful to own!
Follwing the completion of this map you are unable to partake in the 3rd operation because you have to take care of
two quests first:
1.
Carry out Counter-Attack Operation "Operation Rei-go"This one is straight forward... beat all Main Stage Operation Maps..... have that quest selected and it's done.
Then you have to do the following:
2.
Partake in a "Friendly Ship Naval Review"This is limited time expedition that a part of the event, upon completing Operation Rei-Go, you have to complete a new quest where you go and make contact with a foreign fleet from overseas. The expedition is #175 which is also called
"Friendly Ship Naval Review"Send 6 ships of any choice and send them out... 15 minutes later, they should make contact with a forgiener and come back from thier expedition. Please be sure to have the quest on when doing this.
Once the expedition is done, the quest can be completed and you earn:
203mm / 53cm Double Gun Mount a gift from your "new foreign friend"
And finally...
Operation Sho-Go 4 is now openHere's a fun note for you all
Operation Sho-Go 4 is a
what if campaign as in this is a
naval battle that never happened in WWII it's actually based more on a
plan Japan developed in the event the American Navy advanced toward Hokkaido. Which as you know wasn't the case since they instead advanced into the Lefyt Gulf where the performed
Operation Sho Go 1 instead. So this one is probably going to be much differnet in comparison to the usual "historic battles" we generally face in events.
Guess I'll prepare for E-3 now...
