Vidya game music
« on: January 06, 2011, 03:54:57 PM »
There are other good video game songs besides the ones in Touhou you know. Post them hereeeeeee

I'll start off~

It's Fiesta Time from Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius, the most overwhelmingly happy and celebratory final stage theme to ever exist. While other final stages are like RAR RAR EPIC FINAL SHOWDOWN YOU MUST WIN, which is fine, this one knows it's the final stage and simply wants to go out with a bang. It's also a remix of a Gradius 3 song.

Akuma Drops from Disgaea is delightfully kooky and sounds almost like something from a circus. A demonic, murderous circus.

A Searing Struggle and The Strongest Foe from Ys: The Oath in Felghana. Both are extremely awesome heavy metal/rock things, and both are totally awesome. Searing Struggle is one of the best lava stage themes you could ask for, and The Strongest Foe is one of the best final boss themes I've heard in practically anything. In fact, more or less the entire soundtrack from Oath in Felghana could be posted here.

Crack on the Wall and every single song related to Crimsonwood Keep from Maplestory. Once you escape the tedium that is Victoria Island, you encounter some surprisingly very good music. Crack on the Wall is the theme of Alishar, one of the big party quest bosses, and is a perfect creepy, ominous boss theme for such a creepy, hulking aberration. Crimsonwood Keep, on the other hand, is a super high-level area full of nasty traps and and enemies with a party quest that culminates in you being attacked by evil masters of the game's main job classes in a massive, all-out brawl between at least twenty players and four incredibly powerful bosses.

Balls, sorry, I didn't know that everyone had posted about this sort of thing before  :fail: Can this topic still exist since that other one died long ago?

Also damn that is an epic list

Yeah, old linked thread is old, starting a new one keeps things rolling.

I'd put forward some links, but it's easier to just say to search for NieR OSTs on youtube. There is no track on there that is not one of the best pieces of music I've heard in a while.

The Ace Combat soundtracks.

Yes, all of them. Some of the best video game music I've ever heard. In-freaking-credible.

Final Fantasy X - Someday the Dream Will End
This song will make anyone sad. Not only does it make you sad, it gives you the motivation to move forward.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Infinite Loop
BROTHER! IT'S NOT OVER! NOT YET! One of my personal favorites. I can't believe I didn't hear this during the escape and the epic battle against RAY.

Super Street Fighter IV - Secret Laboratory X
The reason why I always pick this stage. "Witness my limitless power!" *block* Screw you Seth! Eat a Psycho Abortion!

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead - Good Morning Takistan:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttB49WckG5o
Awesome for chopper landings.

Freespace 2 - Numbers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8cG-GZO5ww
My favorite background music for space battles. It has just enough variation to be interesting but is also repetitive enough to stay in the background and not distract from the action.

Falcon 4.0 - Menu Theme 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npDXllk8D4U
In my opinion, Falcon 4.0 is the greatest combat flight sim ever made. This theme helped set the mood.

X3: Reunion - Kingdom End:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi1M747Iw48
A pretty song to go with a pretty sector. Flying around with this is quite relaxing.

Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield - Menu Theme:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snQctE-GXpo
My favorite FPS for a long time. This theme brings back memories. "Tango down!"

I'll come up with an evil scheme later. First, it's time to build a giant robot!

You can't have a good evil scheme without a giant robot!

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and Super Meat Boy are the ones that first came to mind. Crimzon Clover is also a good one (shakes fist @ Sapz), but I can't find the OST for it. =( That's too bad, the music sounds great, so the best thing I can recommend is to watch his videos and see for yourself.

Great music all around. Seriously.

In addition to the ones in the other topic and this one, which I won't relist

Most Shin Megami Tensei music. Nocturne, P3, and P4, as well as DDS. Still need to play DDS 2 so I'm not familiar with those.

Nefertiti (Mana Khemia Chapter 10 and 11 boss theme)

Incarnation of Devil (various Tri-Ace games)

Although I can't find it, the one where you're fighting Proclaimer in SO3.

Way too many FF music to list

FF III Boss Theme, Dreadful Fight, Decisive Battle(both), Battle on the Big Bridge, Dancing Mad, and way more that I'm not going to list

Battle Conditions( Lost Odyssey, when you heard this one, you knew you were screwed)

Most Cave game music.

Just a small list here. Not going to search for a lot of songs and their names. There's way too much.

Needs some Strobe Action.

I could go on a list pretty much the entire Space Channel 5 soundtrack but I wont.  :V

And in a completely different direction, there's this highly epic jazz: Arid Sands Nighttime. Yes it is amazing.

And for my last current suggestion, have some really calming snow music: Snowpeak and Ice Cap

Sapz

Seeing as I've been spamming it in IRC, I feel compelled to mention Crimzon Clover. The BGM is awesome, awesome stuff, and works incredibly well with the stages/bosses it's set to. Examples are the third boss theme, fourth boss theme, Unlimited stage 1's theme, and stage 5's second half's theme (it's a long stage :V).

If you want to see the BGMs in action, which I recommend as they fit really, really well, the links are here: stage 3 boss, stage 4 boss, stage 1 Unlimited, stage 5B (yeah, I know a bunch of these are shameless self-plugs, but there aren't many CC videos around yet :derp:).
Let's fight.

While I do like that, it really doesn't sound like menu music to me.

This, however, does.
