[RPG] Gensokyo Trollolympics
« on: September 11, 2016, 03:27:49 AM »
First time hosting a forum game! And it doesn't even matter that I'm a host, this is the kind that moves along on its own, and is driven completely by you guys.
This is and always will be open to everyone.
Roleplaying time!

Rules and Info

How this works is rather simple.

You pick a character that hasn't been taken yet, and become them.[1]
Feel free to use first person, just make sure you tell the rest of us who you are. (you have to announce yourself anyways)

And then you follow along in the story, with only two objectives.
1. Become the greatest troll in Gensokyo using your powers[2] and if I insult Yukari she will smash my face into the HEwgs8x5cKTD7JE^8cechyfRycr she even took the backspace button! Hey, give that back![4]
2. Try not to get trolled yourself
(you are trolling them in game, not in real life)

Of course, it would go really slowly with only a few actions a day max, so you are allowed to make minor[4] decisions for other characters to move the story along.

Starter/Backstory

Marisa just finished pickpocketing a god. Perhaps this would be enough to finish her collection.
"This is enough spell cards for a Stage 6 boss fight. And I even got a last word! I can't wait to test these out on somebody," thought Marisa as she snuck away quietly from the Moriya shrine.
So far nobody had noticed. Not even Sakuya had noticed the open window in the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
Where was Suika? She was designated as the host of the 2016 Trollolympics. It seems like she broke the record for the earliest trolling ever by simply doing absolutely nothing.
There wasn't even a sign saying it was cancelled or something.
It looks like Reimu would have to go investigate...
...right after lunch.

Current List of Players
Everyone, active or not, updated whenever I feel like it. These aren't ranked, the numbers just make it easier to keep track. They're ordered by time of joining, so the newcomers are at the bottom of the list.
1. EPICI - Reisen
2. EvilNazgul0616 - Rumia
3. Purji Costavis - Komachi
4. the old guy - Ran
5. Starlighthawk - Flandre
6. Miniking - Sakuya
7. GenoCraft - Mamizou

If this gets popular, every now and then we'll start fresh with a new thread and a new timeline to be more open to newcomers.[5]

[1] "Main" characters are preferred, but not required. The line is very blurry, so I need to get glasses but in general if they've been playable at any point, they're a main character, and if they've only appeared in one game, they're not.
[2] Nobody is allowed to die though. Except for Kaguya and Mokou, because they'll just respawn.
[3] Try to avoid getting too meta, it can end up breaking the game.
[4] Koishi can use subconscious manipulation to get you to do it anyways. Yukari could change the border. And I bet at least 10 other characters can get around this rule somehow. So it's more of a guideline than a rule.
[5] When? Around the point when the story gets too confusing/complicated to figure out in a day. So less based on post/page count and more on the complexity of the story we create.

Hmm... Seems like an interesting concept... I may or may not join in on this...

Would Cirno, Daiyousei, Sunny, Luna, Star, Common nameless stage enemy fairy, or Lily White be exceptions to rule 2? Fairies can respawn as well.

On top of that, what about Eirin and undead characters like Yuyuko?

Question: Would the three fairies count as one person, or are you to pick just one of them?

They're more like guidelines than rules.

Anybody that technically can't die or stay dead is sort of an exception to #2.

Anyways, pick a character so we can start.

I was going to be Yukari....but that would be too OP.

So instead I will be Ran! I shall conquer the battlefield with my math skills!

Can i take a OP character that is nerfed in here for safety reasons with some story plot device ?

If so give me that Flandre.

Also have her mofumofu Ran's tails in the meanwhile.

Why not?

About overpowered and underpowered characters, it doesn't really matter.
One of the reasons I chose Reisen is because despite her being relatively weak, there's a ton of things you can do with insanity manipulation. From what I understand she is able to create controlled, vivid hallucinations which can be anything. So basically the otherwise greatest troll is still susceptible to my trolling. Unless it's Reimu, because apparently Reimu is immune to everything[1].
Various other characters, including Koishi, are more than capable of claiming the title of the ultimate troll without using force.
If you want to take the "strongest" character, there's no reason why you can't. I just prefer a character with a lot of flexibility.

[1] That includes Icicle Fall on Easy and the occasional Nosebleed "Final Spark"

I already said I was picking Rumia.
Sorry, I knew the quote seemed familiar, I just didn't know who it was from.

And then i hug you and make you my troll pal.

....and pet you, and call you Rumia-chan !
And then there will be none.

Anyways, let's get this started! (note: you don't have to write in proper story format, I'm just doing this because I can insert more minor details)

    "Wake up already!"
By the Sanzu River, Komachi woke up from a nap. She sluggishly turned her head sideways to look at the spirits crossing to the other side.
Guess my powers still work while I'm asleep, thought Komachi. How convenient.
By using distance manipulation Komachi was able to make the river thin enough for her boat to be usable as a bridge.
She tossed her hand outwards, sweeping around until she grasped the newspaper Aya had conveniently dropped off while she was napping.
The headline read, "2016 Gensokyo Trollolympics Hosted by Suika."
Eiki's serious voice brought her out of the trance. "You know that's not an excuse to not work."
"But look! The spirits are crossing just fine," said Komachi.
"It's fine as long as it stays that way."
Komachi stood up, and started walking away. I can't let this opportunity go to waste, she thought.

Somewhere in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Sakuya was watching over Flandre. Despite being just over 500 years old now, Flandre still acted like a child, creating spell cards in the same manner a human child draws with crayons.
There was a nice warm breeze. Sakuya relaxed, knowing she didn't have any orders from Remilia.
A nice warm breeze, Sakuya thought, as she realized, there must be an open window somewhere. She paused and resumed time, scouring the entire mansion for the one window, not even noticing an unusual visitor walking in through the front door.
Finally, Sakuya found the open window, and closed it. She remembered Patchouli putting spell traps on all the possible entrances, in-case anyone were to come in without permission.
Sakuya rushed back to the library to fetch the log and find out which spell was put on that window, to confirm whether someone opened the window normally or intruded. And sure enough, like many other books, this one wasn't on the shelf.
Not wanting to interrupt Patchouli, Sakuya set out to investigate herself, counting her spell cards as she walked. And at that point, she noticed one missing.

I'll add more individual stories as people join.

The one that used so many knives Remi was in debt after.
You secretly hope Reimu never asks for Lunatic difficulty ever again.

>So where are we right now ?
>Have a look at our awesome spellcard drawings !
Well, you're still drawing creating spell cards.
One of them seems to be very overpowered. No wait, you just spilled your drink. Dammit.

Anyways I intended this to be community driven. So instead of giving me prompts and waiting for me to respond, you should interact with each other, something I need to do more often in real life.

Kuya-sama... cute... I thought to myself as I did a brief curtsey.
"Yes. Please excuse me young mistress." I started heading to her drawing area again.

She begins to speed up and dart around in panic at the feeling of something foreign on her face, unaware that her now erratic flight pattern is putting her on a direct collision course with the red mansion in the distance.
