EoSD Input Lag
« on: June 14, 2012, 04:54:59 PM »
Whee, even more problems arising!

After trying to play EoSD with Marisa, I noticed that I have some quite noticeable input lag. So I grab the vsync patch as I always do for MoF and lo and behold, nothing changed! Then I tempered with custom.exe, trying all sorts of combinations. Lo and behold, nothing changed!

Is there anything else I can try or am I out of luck with EoSD? Vsync works for fine for PCB, IN and MoF, but not EoSD. D:

What does your vpatch.ini file look like? The custom.exe/custom_e.exe shouldn't make a difference like it does on SA onwards.
I figured out how to play midi in games with a different device on Win7 ^^

Code: [Select]
[Window]
AskWindowMode = 0
enabled = 0
X = 0
Y = 0
Width = 640
Height = 480
TitleBar = 0
AlwaysOnTop = 0

[Option]
Vsync = 0
SleepType = 1
BltPrepareTime = 4
AutoBltPrepareTime = 1
GameFPS = 60
ReplaySkipFPS = 240
ReplaySlowFPS = 30
CalcFPS = 1
AlwaysBlt = 0
BugFixCherry = 1
BugFixTh10Power3 = 0

I tried setting vsync to 1 but that didn't make a change either.

Uh, now that's weird. Your .ini is the same as mine (except for BugFixCherry which doesn't matter for EoSD) so I'm not sure why that isn't working. :wat: Maybe it's something to do with your system. (hardware, drivers, etc...)

Hmmmm, I'm not sure. :(

If there isn't anything else I can do, I'll have to stick with the lag then. Or just play as Reimu where it's not really noticeable.

Did you rename EoSD to 東方紅魔郷.exe so it'll run through vpatch.exe?

Yeah, I had it installed in Japanese from the get-go. :I

Weird. Vsync always works fine to me (but I have to name the EXE into ?????g????.exe instead due to mojibake stuff).

Are you sure you didn't forget to copy vpatch_th06.dll into EoSD's folder? I just tried to rename it into something different and Vsync didn't give me any error message. Also, be sure to know that deathbombing is always hard on EoSD (with or without input delay), so that's not a reliable way to test. ;)

I find that faster characters are better for counteracting input lag, myself. Otherwise I might say to try changing arbitrary settings and see if that does anything, or maybe use a different version of the patch. Or if everyone else's is working with the English patch and your game is in Japanese, then... try patching it to English? :V
