Well, in the last games thread, I said I'll be getting this game started 3-5 days from yesterday but I seem to have time now so will be making this thread now for recruitment purpose since it might take long...
Anyway, this map is going to be a modern variant of Diplomacy set in 1994. This game is completely different from the game you all are used to playing because it'll have a new unit type called Wings, oh and it's bigger....anyway, the rules for the new unit and some notes for this map:
Rules of the new Wing unit:
- They can be build on any supply center you own
- They can move on any terrain, whether it's land or sea
- They can move, hold and support like any other unit but they can't be convoyed
- Wings cannot capture SCs, instead they 'Blockade' it. The Blockaded SCs still belongs to the nation last holding it but does not count towards victory for either nation until that blockade is removed
- If a country has a SC blockaded, that country does not have to remove a unit until the second winter phase after that blockade is made (This one is not official since apparently there's different rules not listed in Jdip for what happens to units from a blockade, so I decided to go with this)
- A blockade us only in effect if a Wing unit is on the SC at the end of every phase and if not, the SC will be no longer blockaded after that phase
- In the beginning, no one owns any Wing units and they must be built from a SC if you have enough
Notes for this map:
- Istanbul (Ist), Cairo (Cai) and Hamburg (Ham) act's just like Constantinople in standard diplomacy in that Fleets can pass through them to go to the other side by using the canals.
- A Fleet unit can also move through Rostov (Ros) and Volga (Vol) to move to the Caspian Sea (CAS) and vice versa.
- Iran (Irn), while having two coasts, can't have Fleets move through it and if you want to build a fleet there, please specify whether you want it built in the north or south coast.
The victory condition for this map is for a country to own 33 supply centers. All active players can agree on a draw if they think this condition can not be achieved.
All orders can be PMed to me or posted on this thread (PMed orders take priority over posted orders). Players can also PM each other or post in this thread to form alliances and such.
Oh yeah, nearly forgot this...here's the map I'll be using on this thread, hope it's small enough...

ShadowehAlso, here's the best map I could find with all the names (Shortened and full):
One more thing, I'll be doing a reporter/commentator style thing when this game gets started cause diplomacy games on this forum is too quiet and I'd like to add some flavour to it.
Also, can someone with a knowledge of this map tell me if I forget to include anything, cause I feel like I'm forgetting something......
Edit: Ah right, also if your new and wanting to try this out, here's the link to the rules of
diplomacy.
