Title: A Kingdom of Loathing thread? That's ridiculous. It's not even funny.
Post by: Janitor Morgan on July 26, 2011, 03:38:29 AM
Old one here. (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,7690.0.html)

So, it seems that Mr. Skullhead, one of KoL's "founding fathers", has started work on a comic book with webcomic artist Doug Kallberg (http://www.freerangecomics.com/), and while the first issue isn't out yet, what's there so far is pretty awesome. Check out the progress here. (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1120283609/kingdom-of-loathing-comic-book-for-great-justice)

Also, my alt is a bad person, (http://i55.tinypic.com/ic0bvd.png) spending all her money on booze.

Because his alt's entire reason for being is to get so drunk the drunkenness counter rolls over. And see at what point that is, if ever.

It's KoL thread II.

I was going to say "it's eleven in base 2" but then I realized a) it would actually be twenty and b) nobody does jokes in base 2.

And I'm going to say that...

It's KoL thread II.

...this was a complete coincidence. Makes it more amusing, though!

WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?!

I mean hell it's being written by one of the guys behind KoL itself. So I'm sure it will be made of the awesome we all know and love~

I wonder if it's possible to get the 69-dollar sketch to be a short comic instead of a normal picture...I have an idea I'd like to see drawn.

I recently finished my last Bad Moon run and simultaneously got the Wrong Place At The Right Time trophy (for
defeating every nemesis in order
) so now I'm back to normal runs and yay familiars and CONTENT and... me levelling up slower in Hardcore than I was in Bad Moon what is this.

For those who haven't already seen it, the new seasonal challenge -- Way of the Surprising Fist -- is up! In this challenge, you
cannot equip weapons or off-hands, cannot autosell items or pull meat from Hagnk's (even in softcore), donate any meat you get from items to charity, and receive drastically reduced meat drops in combat.

Day 2 of my Hardcore run of this is today,
without Kung Fu Hustler
...let's see how it goes.

Oh god I generate like 200 turns a day now what is this nonsense D:

Uh, on another note though, THE TRAVELLING TRADER IS IN TODAY.  The item is a consumable that gives you
a total of 20 potions - each gives 30 turns of +Noncombat, +Combat, or +15 Monster Level
.  Because of this, I think most of us won't find it that useful.  On the other hand, speedplayers are abuzz with excitement over the idea, since you really only have to pull a single one to get some massive bonuses - and so it's potentially going to become a major item for optimal players.

A major item that is in ultimately limited supply.

Good on you! I myself just broke the prism on the shortest run I've had so far-- 18 days. I know it's not exactly that short, but it feels positively speedy to me! :D

Gonna kick around for a few more days and then do an AT HC run, I think. To prep for the seasonal challenge. :3c

I bought eleven. :3c Don't intend to sell anytime soon, though. Like the CRIMBCO manuals, those are gonna go in my attic/museum collection.

As soon as I can, I'm gonna finish this run so I can work on Fistcore. It looks awesome.
Title: Re: A Kingdom of Loathing thread? That's ridiculous. It's not even funny.
Post by: Garlyle on August 28, 2011, 10:35:13 AM
...okay seriously.  Minus the meat penalties, Fistcore is stupidly ezmodo.  It's even better if you're a Disco Bandit/Accordion Thief, since it [spoilers]hands you really effective combat skills for 0 MP for minimum effort, meaning no need for muscle or mysticality when you can focus on moxie and dodge everything and then kill it.[/spoiler]

Seriously, minus a couple parts where it is an unfortunate disadvantage to not be able to use a weapon (and they are rare)... it really is pretty easy.

Oh boy oh boy the new ITEM OF THE MONTH is out.

The Tome of Clip Art.  Usable in Softcore or Hardcore, you can use it up to 3 times a day for 2 MP each casting, I believe.  You then get ten symbols and pick three of them.  The combination you use generates different items!

For instance, I was able to make
A "Box of familiar jacks", which when used, gave me the familiar-specific familiar equipment that I would normally get from the arena.  For free!
.  I was also able to make some
bucket of wine, and an Ur-Donut which didn't give me much in the way of adventures but I would probably summon on the first turn of a future game because 60+ in every substat
.  There's a goddamn tonne of combinations, it seems.

One of the most notable discovered so far is
Borrowed Time, which gives you 20 of your adventures from tomorrow on use.  Came up just short of finishing an ascension?  WELL HERE YOU GO!

EDIT: Holy crap.
the Bucket of Wine is 10 drunkenness for about 19 adventures; which doesn't sound too great, but if you use it as nightcap with Ode to Booze, it's 29 adventures to end the day.  That's stupidly huge.  There's also apparently a +5 Adventures/Day accessory in there somewhere too

I am definitely saving up meats to get this tome. Talk about incredibly useful and flexible.

Heh, I took a good portion of a year off KoL, and I only realized yesterday that I had a Knob Goblin Organ Grinder. Didn't use it much before I took the break, so I guess that's why I forgot. :P

And, the IoTM isn't late this month?! *gasp* But man, there's some cool stuff in there, even though I have a Sugar Tome and a Sticker Tome, I still want this. :< Mostly because of the
familiar jacks because they make familiar equipment WAY more viable in a (speed)run, but especially because of the bobcat grenade. Description: "Instead of gunpowder, bomb contained bobcats. Would not summon again." LOL, MUST HAVE.
But I don't have enough meat, and Mr. A's are so expensive these days...  :ohdear: On the other hand, this is an awesome item to invest in if you ask me. It's been 2 years since the last tome, and they're up to at least 20mil, not mentioning how awesome this tome is by itself.

"Your item (lemon popsicle) was purchased at the Flea Market by sellbot for 50 Meat. The Flea Market took a cut of 1 Meat."

Repeat this eight more times. Forget playing the actual game, I'm having too much fun playing the market :P

UPDATE: And now I've broken the Money-Making Game.

You eat the Ur-Donut. Any problems that you had resulting from not having just eaten a donut have now been solved.

You gain 3 Adventures.
You gain 51 Beefiness.
You gain some Muscle points!
You gain 52 Enchantedness.
You gain some Mysticality points!
You gain 86 Sarcasm.
You gain some Moxie points!
You gain some Levels!
You acquire an effect: Sugar Rush
(duration: 10 Adventures)

Well, so much for ever starting the game at level 1 again.  I can summon that right off the bat as any class, for 2 MP, and it puts me to level 3.  I love this Item of the Month.

Fair enough.  I guess Astral Hotdogs are pretty cool for that anyway, since unlike booze (Which you can get good booze from the barrel and tavern quest day 1), it's hard to have good food to eat on the first day.

Aw yeah, just finished a 4-day HC Fist run. :D

So what do you guys think about the Fist path, now that it's been out for a bit? It's pretty cool, but to be honest, in my opinion, Beecore had this certain...thing about it that made it seem funner to play. I dunno, maybe it was the humorous/awesome connection of not being able to use anything with a 'b' in the name. Nevertheless, going around as a moxie class completely ignoring my Moxie stat, pumping +ML like crazy, and just smashing everything with Drunken Baby was pretty damn awesome too. I wonder what the next challenge path will be at this rate...

The best thing about Fistcore is being able to do insane damage by stacking Salamander Kata. That's...about it. The meat reduction forces a change in playstyle that I don't think I could stick with.

Gonna spend a while going for the
one million meat donation trophy
, then finish up the run, perm the one permable skill, and go back to regular HC until the next challenge, I think.
Title: Re: A Kingdom of Loathing thread? That's ridiculous. It's not even funny.
Post by: Garlyle on September 08, 2011, 09:29:56 AM
If you want the
million meat donation
, the easiest way is probably to
just make a shitload of dense meat stacks out-of-run - like, 1000000 meat of 'em; then play softcore and go long enough that you leave Ronin.  Then pull and donate 'em all, bam.
Or that's how I'd do it.

Also I'm really fond of Fistcore.  Being able to play with minimal MP management thanks to Salamandernity and 0-MP Combat Skills is kind of awesome.  Honestly if it wasn't for the meat restriction it would be even more badass.

...I'm nowhere near 4-day in speed though. D:

Oh, by the way, do you guys have any tips about meat farming? Because I spent today in the Castle farming for the new tome (I'll need maybe 250k meat a day), and I disappointingly only got ~190k (~685MPA). A bit of it is because I can't equip some things because of the stat requirements, but I remember having higher MPAs, so I feel like I'm missing something. Are there any better zones to farm nowadays or do I just have low +meat/+item? (got about +300% and +70% respectively 'cause I'm using a Hobo Monkey)

For Giant's Castle, pump Noncombat and meat drops. Middle Chamber is generally better though. There you pump items as much as you can. Some things get sold in the mall, others auto sold.

God damnit me, this is the second time in a row I have ascended without purchasing something to perm.

Mind you last time it wasn't so bad; I wanted to perm Master of the Surprising Fist anyway; but this time... lolnoep.  I was gonna walk out with Overdevelopped Sense of Self-Preservation and Smooth Movements... but nope.

Oh well.  One more Disco Bandit Fisting run and then whatever I pick to Fistcore next I will be able to HP three different skills from.  Heck yeah 8D

So, Fistcore makes Hamster, Whacking Stick, and Overcoat runs possible for us in Hobopolis. I'll need to find a guide but I think we can do this if we know what we're doing. We have to manage a single day run under a certain turncount. I'd like to help organize these. If anyone with neat Google tech skills could make me a spreadsheet, I'd like to get a list of who has Hobo Code Binders, the number of codes, who has Hobo Instruments, who has Bonus Hobo Damage, and overall who wants to be part of these single day teams and what times they can get on.

I also suggest people interested get to 20 codes ASAP. There will be a couple softer runs so you can collect the other stuff.

I forgot to put a thing for availability, but that maybe we might wanna organize on a run-by-run basis anyway.

(P.S. I also added conditional formatting and Slime Tube stuff to the clan dungeon loot distro sheet while I was poking at Google Docs stuff.)

The Wolfram Alpha calculator spits out ~14,393,400 damage at the top range to do exactly 25,000 modified damage, which is exactly what Hodgman's HP is. At 5 damage per turn of Salamanderenity, that's...2,878,680 turns = ~87,232 casts = ~436,165 MP. D:

Post-Frosty is much more reasonable, with ~195,601 damage needed = ~39,121 turns = ~1,186 casts = ~5,930 MP, but post-Frosty wouldn't be feasible for a hamster run...

Something tells me that less-MP-to-use-skills enchants would really help, though!

Tricky but doable. Means the optimal class for this would be Turtle tamer. I'm sure that Purvis would have advice for genning that much MP. So far my plan consists of a pure Dr. Lucifer Diet for charging the laser, and as you say, less MP to use skills things.

Don't Jumbo Dr. Lucifers, y'know... take up fullness?  I mean, while they can definitely be a fast way to restore MP combined with Scrolls of Drastic Healing, I don't think you'd want to spend too much of your fullness on MP restoration if you can help it?

Since you're probably going to reach a pretty high level anyway before taking him on you might as well just use a truck of meat and Magical Juices, which shouldn't be too hard to get even if you're not a mysticality class.  Or that'd be my guess?

If we have a Pastamancer, they can actually reach 1 MP cost per Salamandernity simply by wearing Oscus' outfit apparently... if anyone has it.  Otherwise, you could reach 2 MP cost with other effects (Plexiglass Pocketwatch, Brimstone Bracelet, or simply getting Dreams and Lights in the Gallery once collecting all the MP restorers), or 1 MP per cast if we activated a stacking effect (Arcane in the Brain, which requires a bit of Llama Llama Gong manipulation to activate; or it being the Festival of Jarlsberg)

So that's the situation.  With 1 MP cost it drops down to 87,233 MP, which... just for example, at level 30, would cost a Mysticality class only ~290,700 meat for enough magical juice to do.

Which is probably not that huge an investment?

@Garlyle: Remember, you charge up Salamanderity BEFORE doing the run. It shouldn't take that long if you're paying attention to your MP.

As for being high level...the barrier is going to be HP and taking his first hit. After that you kill him. Hell, if you can pump up your init to beat his, even THAT'S not a barrier

Well, I have Oscus's outfit, but uh, doesn't Scratch remove buffs? So, uhh, wouldn't that not work? But, why don't you guys just use spectral jelly and pufferfish spines to kill SuperHodgman anyway?

From what I'm seeing in a few places on the KoL boards, winning initiative gives you a turn before Ol' Scratch strips you of buffs (and Zombo with everything else, etc). ...though this begs the question of whether Frosty acts on the same turn as the other bosses, or at the start of the fight regardless of initiative.

And I'm guessing "rule of cool" for the other question.

EDIT: Actually, Purvis, where was that picture of Mystia one-shotting Hodgman with Flying Fire Fist?

The attack seems to be especially devious because, from what I understand, it was sent from the official KoL server itself. Or seems to be. All signs point to a database hack -- especially Jick stating in the discussion thread on their forums that he had to go wake up the server guy to figure out what happened.

So since it's on my mind while UK's setting up her item choices for OCD Inventory Control (http://kolmafia.us/showthread.php?1818-OCD-Inventory-control), who all has random silly cheap item personal collections? It might be nice to start amassing a list of them so people can send things to each other~ (if they want =P) I picked some fairly arbitrary stuff myself recently too.

Ones I know:
Purv (The Captain, #91349): Amulet of Yendor, disease, lihc eye pie, Mad Train wine, meat vortex, mind flayer corpse, ring of aggravate monster
Ruro (Sakura Rurouni, #2117721): strawberry
Me (ArashiKurobara, #2118636): ballroom blintz, flute of flat champagne, shot of blackberry schnapps, star (EDIT: also pr0n legs)

And rdj's alt DrunkenTester (#2189688) doesn't formally collect with a display case, but needs massive amounts of cloudy potions and Yummy Tummy beans (and maybe 668 scrolls) for his attempt to someday see where the drunkenness counter rolls over.

So yeah, anyone else?

I'm working on my meat-making scheme.

1. Buy up bang potions which are below the standard market rate.
2. Stock them in my store at the going rate (or higher if I'm able to do so)
3. Direct the profits into the Money-Making Game, using my special technique to get roughly 120%-150% of what I put in.
4. Use my winnings to buy even more potions.

That's for casino games where you're betting against the house. The MMG has you betting against other players. And clearly if I'm wagering more than I'm willing to lose then I've been doing it wrong this whole time anyway

I'm willing to accept the possibility I'm massively wrong on this, and if the MMG turns out to be a bust I can make money just as easily (if maybe a bit slower) through market speculation, which I'm actually finding a bit more fun than the actual game.

The house still takes a cut. You will equal out to winning half an losing half over any decently long run, and you will lose money because of that house cut.

Okay, screw the casino, found better and more reliable plan.

Buy blends of herbs and spices for 200-250 at the mall, combine them with ingredients I already have or can get for zero cost, create meals that can be sold for 1000+ meat or higher.

Low risk, minimal investment required, decent returns if I'm willing to be patient.

If I could suggest a system that could be lucrative with minimum effort, I'd suggest going Sauceror, learn Advanced Saucecrafting, The Way of Sauce, and get the Gravyskin Belt of the Sauceblob. You'll get 8 scrumptious reagents every day, and the ingredients you combine with these are often pretty cheap (or very easy to find). Not only that, but with each reagent, you'll make *3* potions, which you can sell for 1000+ meat. That is to say, that's practically a free 24,000 a day if you were to sell what you make every day at a minimum of 1k meat. =O

or you could be lazy like me and let those 8 free reagents a day add up and do nothing with them beyond make milks of magnesium with them. My sauceror alt has 465 of them at this very moment :V

So I'm guessing we have enough clan funds to keep the basement in a semi-permanent state of openness for nickel farming etc?

(Info about the clan should probably be added to the OP, even though it's linked in the old thread.)

Remember, the NS
takes away all your buffs,
so don't rely on those for taking her on. And remember that damn
Wand of Nagamar
!
Best of luck with the rest of the quest. :toot:

I already have
the wand
made and I've been hoarding a bunch of other items just in case.

As for the
buffs
, I never relied on them anyway, preferring to plan out my equipment if I'm trying to do something specific (unless I'm to be told that's no good for this either)

Planning out your equipment is good. If you're going for total evasion, you'll want your Moxie to be around 215
for her second form
. Otherwise, pump up your Mysticality so that
the NS blocks fewer of your skills.

For a while, at least; I should probably start sticking meat in the coffers more often, and my alt hasn't been filling up the ball pit lately like she should >_> (though did just get a relatively big-ticket item out of the way so she probably can go back to that now).

And speaking of my alt, she mostly went down there to get hobo code binder because if I do ever stop ascending her Purv's suggested I turn her into a Hodg-killer for hire; might go down after getting all the codes I can for this run and farming up more nickels, but I'm totally leaving bosses for the rest of you and you don't need to give her any loot (though I'd hardly be opposed to getting some. :V)

so theres a new clan dungeon, which is awesome

it also has non combats that raise ml, such as the boombox and fog machine

stop hitting them please railgun, the enemies have gone insane

edit: oh whoops i just hit the windows which do the same, the enemies are now batshit

i don't reccomend anyone enter atm, just let me clean up my mess

Editedit: mess cleaned, though it seems it was all my fault in the end, whoops!

anyway basically no one touch the fog machine or boombox in the house, that'll increase ML and they get pretty fucking tough, it's reversable through doing the same choice.

this means railgun didn't do anything whoops sorry

i do wonder where the spontaneous power came from though. :/

i suggest even if you don't want to clean up enemies, you do actually happen to stop by and drop a ray or two if you have the time, the enemies there are rayable

Man, I can't wait to hit some kind of lull in fistcore so I can head down there and punch a few skeletons in the face.

It's fine. I just saw the new zone and I was wondering what was there. I got some items, but I didn't touch them at all, seeing how there weren't wiki articles on them when I found them. I haven't encountered any non-combats (yet) but now I know what not to do

Yeah I kinda freaked out because god damn, those sorority girls HURT.

Anyway, More on the ML- Having it high is the only way to allow all items to drop. 1 on allows a booze item to drop, 2 on allows a potion to drop, and 3 on allows an equip to drop, if I were to guess.

Either way, the ML has benefits- But I'd reccomend trying to turn it down before you finish up your own adventures!

Remember all those skill books that are too awesome to use because you have to perm them or lose them?

Skill books from limited-time events now turn into non-tradable used versions (http://forums.kingdomofloathing.com/vb/showthread.php?t=189489) instead of vanishing.

Lunch breaks for all!

Does that mean they're reusable now? o___________________o

Yep!

Still gonna have to perm them eventually if you want 'em for HC (or even really speedy SC since you probably don't wanna use pulls for them all the time), but in the meantime you can enjoy them in aftercore forever and ever! (The Traveling Trader books still require being the correct class to use, though, at least when new, I can't really check used without ascending so my Pastamancer one I just bought is used and I'm something different =P)

Oooh, neat! :D

Well then, I should try to get as many of those books before their prices skyrocket then. ~

EDIT: Done. Grabbed all of them except for the Crimbo Carols, Field Guide to Skeletal Anatomy (I already used the one I had long ago :<), and the ones I already had.

I dunno, if anything I'd expect them to go down a smidge, since it means no one ever needs more than one. I mean, they'll still keep gradually going up over time as there's fewer in the system, but I don't expect them to go way up either.

Eh, I suppose so. Either way, I've collected pretty much all of them now, so yay reusables \o/

The only one that set me back a bit was Inigo's Incantation o(ry anyway. The rest are fairly inexpensive.

I think it's the only limited edition book I lack, too.

WARNING WARNING WARNING!

Tonight I'll be doing my solo run of the haunted house! Please to not be doing anything in it while I do that. (There might be an instance that needs clean up before I go though, check the IRC! It's not hard to use webchat, and we're in #maidensofloathing!)

Please to not be doing anything in it while I do that.

Well, I set up a user level for soloing dungeons (it's got no permissions aside from stash and adventuring/administrating Haunted House and also Slime Tube 'cause I wanna keep it around in case anyone else wants to solo stuff ever =P). I'll turn off adventure permission to all other user levels once current instance is cleared, gimme a head-up when you're done so I can promote you back up and let other levels adventure again. =P

Oct 24 23:32:17 <UncertainKitten>   It was...a dark and stormy night. Well, it wasn't actually, in fact it's a quite clear evening, but that has little bearing on our story :|
Oct 24 23:33:13 <UncertainKitten>   An Initiate of the Surprising Fist approaches the dojo with trepidation, but swallows her fear...
Oct 24 23:33:34 <UncertainKitten>   She steps in the courtyard, and is immediately greeted by a wizened turtle that looks up at her, as if to say "follow me"
Oct 24 23:34:14 <UncertainKitten>   The turtle leads her to the entrance (slowly, of course)...a bolt of lightning cracks as she pushes open the wooden panel...
Oct 24 23:34:25 <UncertainKitten>   Probably some sauceror messing with forces they can't understand :|
Oct 24 23:34:54 <UncertainKitten>   A shadowy room awaits her, briefly lit up periodically with what appears to be flame, revealing a female figure in the darkness!
Oct 24 23:35:08 <UncertainKitten>   You notice her look up at the next gout of flame
Oct 24 23:35:30 <UncertainKitten>   "What is it, child of the Fist?" she says, in an old, wizened voice
Oct 24 23:35:52 <UncertainKitten>   The initiate gulps and says "You know...that voice isn't fooling anyone!"
Oct 24 23:36:24 <UncertainKitten>   The flames pause! "Oh, fine, geez, I try to be dramatic, Sakura, and you have to ruin everything!" a much more youthful voice, replies, in about her mid 20s
Oct 24 23:37:01 <UncertainKitten>   The figure steps over and turns on a light switch, revealing an ecletically garbed Turtle Tamer repeatedly doing her Salamander Kata
Oct 24 23:37:15 <UncertainKitten>   She has an impressive red aura around her by this point
Oct 24 23:37:20 <UncertainKitten>   "So, what is it anyway?"
Oct 24 23:37:46 <UncertainKitten>   Sakura responds after a proper bow to this Master of the Surprising Fist "I hear...that it's back"
Oct 24 23:38:16 <UncertainKitten>   "Oh, what, again? Fine, I guess I better get my stuff together..."
Oct 24 23:38:30 <UncertainKitten>   "Do you want me to call the others?"
Oct 24 23:38:38 <UncertainKitten>   "No...this time...I'll face him...alone"
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 00:08:15 <UncertainKitten>   Uncertainkitten, Master of the surprising fist, knew that she'd need to prepare for a long night. After eating many foods, with dangerous implements nearly as firey as herself, she headed down to the city of Hobos, Hobopolis
Oct 25 00:08:42 <UncertainKitten>   She looked around for the marketplace, punching hobos left and right until she found it, and then soon realized she couldn't actually understand the squiggles without her binder!
Oct 25 00:09:13 <UncertainKitten>   Blushing bashfully, she took it in hand as well as a lawn dart, and proceeded into the market to buy some of the greatest food and drink she's ever tasted
Oct 25 00:09:58 <UncertainKitten>   She found the drink area fine, and consumed Arthur Finn's World-Record Homebrew Stout, which invigorated her greatly!
Oct 25 00:10:17 <UncertainKitten>   She felt stronger, more awake...ready to deal with the necromancing menace in the haunted sorority house
Oct 25 00:10:49 <UncertainKitten>   She then proceeded to the food stand for a protein shake but...was puzzled when she couldn't find Big Merv!
Oct 25 00:11:05 <UncertainKitten>   She shrugged and got another frozen banquet, eaten with another one of those firey salad forks
Oct 25 00:11:25 <UncertainKitten>   Tossing aside the implements in her hands...she found her way to...the haunted sorority house!
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 00:15:50 <UncertainKitten>   As she approaches, she searches for that stack of staff guides she found on her way to the basement with the directions to the house...after reading it, she makes her way to the attic, finding a variety of interesting things
Oct 25 00:16:25 <UncertainKitten>   First a mimeograph she quickly uses to make more copies of staff guides, and she approaches the pile of broken appliances when...suddenly, she hears something
Oct 25 00:16:53 <UncertainKitten>   There's a banging noise picking up nearby...
Oct 25 00:16:58 <UncertainKitten>   She cautiously approaches it...
Oct 25 00:17:25 *   Anemone-Matsuri reaches into bag of infinite popcorn, joins the audience
Oct 25 00:17:43 <UncertainKitten>   After a twisting maze of cardboard boxes that she navigates by listening for the banging, she's nearly deafened as another one reports just a few feet away!
Oct 25 00:18:20 <UncertainKitten>   There's a frat boy with a shot gun, being menaced by a pack of cheerleading werewolves! Thinking quickly, Uncertainkitten fishes in her pocket for a silver shotgun shell, throwing it to the fratboy!
Oct 25 00:18:57 <UncertainKitten>   After a tense moment as the werewolves realize what just got thrown to the frat boy, a deafening bang occurs, and the bullet tears through the entire pack
Oct 25 00:19:07 <UncertainKitten>   "Shoulda shaved those pits, ladies," the fratboy sneers, as he re-pops his collar.
Oct 25 00:19:17 <UncertainKitten>   Uncertainkitten rolls her eyes, and continues exploring the house
Oct 25 00:19:57 <UncertainKitten>   Taking out another guide (she dropped the first one in surprise when she saw the werewolves), she decides to explore the main floor
Oct 25 00:20:46 <UncertainKitten>   There appear to be several room choices. Having eaten so much, she steers away from the dining room though, and ops to explore the closet, from which she hears a faint rattling
Oct 25 00:21:11 <UncertainKitten>   The door opens with a groan, that's echoed by UncertainKitten as she finds SKELETONS!
Oct 25 00:21:17 <UncertainKitten>   The groan would be at the implied joke
Oct 25 00:21:59 <UncertainKitten>   Unsurprised (for she is a master of the surprising fist), she steps back as they surge forward, pulling a funhouse mirror from her backpack (don't ask us how she fits things there, must be an ancient technique or something)
Oct 25 00:22:32 <UncertainKitten>   Anguished at their distorted figures, they wail and collapse, and UncertainKitten chuckles at their vanity
Oct 25 00:23:14 <UncertainKitten>   She searches for her staff guide again, seeing as she put it in her bag to show the girls their "figures", but is distressed as she can't find it
Oct 25 00:23:19 <UncertainKitten>   Grumbling, she pulls out another from her pocket
Oct 25 00:23:52 <UncertainKitten>   She considers heading to the basement, but knows there's absolutely nothing of interest there. At all.
Oct 25 00:24:15 <UncertainKitten>   She instead sighs and enters the dining room, trying to hold down her gorge at the thought of more food
Oct 25 00:25:05 <UncertainKitten>   She hears a faint groaning as she approaches, and opens the door hesitantly, and immediately notices a frat boy in gray coveralls and a stupid looking mask standing on a dining room table with a chain saw that doesn't appear to work
Oct 25 00:26:01 <UncertainKitten>   Ah, the folly of weapons, UncertainKitten thinks, but smiles as she pulls out a chainsaw blade quickly and throws it at a zombie, tearing into her skull
Oct 25 00:26:20 <UncertainKitten>   The frat boy jumps down and retrieves it, thanking UncertainKitten as he starts up his chainsaw
Oct 25 00:26:25 <UncertainKitten>   The engine starts up with a roar when he pulls the ripcord, and geysers of arterial blood fountain nearly to the ceiling as he begins decapitating the zombies with an exuberant cry of "Hail to the king, baby!"
Oct 25 00:26:50 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten steps out, preferring her outfit not to get covered with blood, shaking her head at the frat boy
Oct 25 00:27:12 <UncertainKitten>   Anyway, she continues exploring the house, taking out zombies, skeletons, and werewolves left and right
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 00:29:03 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten gets ready to deal with more werewolves in the attic, before noticing two strange things
Oct 25 00:29:25 <UncertainKitten>   One, there's no banging...and two, there seems to be a faint music playing...but it's far to quiet to discern what it is
Oct 25 00:29:33 <UncertainKitten>   Looking around, she spots a boom box, which she turns up curiously
Oct 25 00:29:38 <UncertainKitten>   Oh, it's spooky sound effects...
Oct 25 00:29:45 <UncertainKitten>   Despite knowing the source, she feels a chill down her spine...
Oct 25 00:29:46 <UncertainKitten>   Spoooooooky
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 00:34:07 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten makes another trip up to the attic...that frat boy seems to find himself constantly in trouble!
Oct 25 00:34:30 <UncertainKitten>   She hears the now familiar banging of the gun as she winds her way through the boxes, having memorized the path
Oct 25 00:34:42 <UncertainKitten>   She looks around for the frat boy and werewolves but...fails to see either!
Oct 25 00:35:11 <UncertainKitten>   She still hears the banging though, and wonders what it could be coming from. With a quick search, she finds it's just a shudder on one of the attic's exterior windows
Oct 25 00:35:16 <UncertainKitten>   With a shrug, she leaves the basement
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 00:39:51 <UncertainKitten>   At one point when UncertainKitten approaches the house, chainsaw chain in hand, she notices someone in the distance pointing a bow and arrow at her!
Oct 25 00:40:33 <UncertainKitten>   She tries to dodge as the arrow is loosed, but it seeks her, planting itself firmly in her side. Rather than feeling injured though, she feels further invigorated!
Oct 25 00:40:57 <UncertainKitten>   There is a note attached to the arrow: "Thought you might need this, Master - Randomeh"
Oct 25 00:41:09 <UncertainKitten>   With a smile, she pulls the arrow out and puts it in her bag, and proceeds!
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 00:43:23 <UncertainKitten>   With a smirk, UncertainKitten approaches the dining room once again to see how many brains she can help serve.
Oct 25 00:43:45 <UncertainKitten>   To her surprise, there is merely a bowl of peeled grapes on the table...
Oct 25 00:43:50 <UncertainKitten>   Oh, and a bowl of cold cooked spaghetti
Oct 25 00:43:52 <UncertainKitten>   How childish
Oct 25 00:44:27 <UncertainKitten>   Then her glance reaches the end of the table. There are the remains of a frat boy with his stomach torn out, his intestines spilling out onto the floor in a bloody tangle
Oct 25 00:45:11 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten cringes but does what she must, carrying the frat boy's body out for a proper burial, doing a chant of gentle repose so that he may reincarnate as something nice on the great wheel of life
Oct 25 00:45:20 <UncertainKitten>   Maybe a knob goblin!
Oct 25 00:45:45 <UncertainKitten>   Laying a single beer on his burial site, she steels herself to reenter the house
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 00:53:12 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten once again approaches the closet, mirror at the ready. Those dumb sorority girls never learn, do they? It's a shame they didn't learn something useful, like martial arts. UncertainKitten fondly remembers her own Master, the famous Dynamite Superman Jones, who was so adept at kung fu fighting, that he was fast as lightning. It was a little bit frightening, but he taught her expert timing, which aided her discipline in the Way of the Surprising Fist
Oct 25 00:53:50 <UncertainKitten>   Shaking her head, having no time for such reminiscing, she approaches the closet, throwing open the door, gasping as she finds...coats
Oct 25 00:54:04 <UncertainKitten>   For good measure she punches a couple but there are very clearly no skeletons here
Oct 25 00:54:10 <UncertainKitten>   ...those coats will need repairs though
Oct 25 00:54:34 <UncertainKitten>   She closes the closet with a sigh. Her task is not done yet...there remain ghosts and vampires in this dark place...
Oct 25 00:55:55 <UncertainKitten>   She pulls several objects from her back, various potions she quaffs greedily, seeming to fade into near nonexistance as she puts on her headphones and ring, and rubs rock salt under her armpits
Oct 25 00:56:16 <UncertainKitten>   Humming a soft tune, she seems to fade out even more
Oct 25 00:57:16 <UncertainKitten>   She then quaffs a few elixirs, seeming to become much stronger, and much more attractive!
Oct 25 00:57:42 <UncertainKitten>   Doing a couple test punches, and injuring the air in the process, she starts wandering through the house!
Oct 25 00:58:26 <UncertainKitten>   She first wanders into a ghost, a faded apparition of a sorority orc in a sexy journalist outfit
Oct 25 00:58:50 <UncertainKitten>   She approaches, saying "oooh, what would you say is the spooooooookiest part of this house?"
Oct 25 00:59:19 <UncertainKitten>   Not wanting to be assailed by dumb questions, UncertainKitten withdraws a ghost trap and activates it, causing the ghost and several others to be sucked in as she steps back
Oct 25 00:59:47 <UncertainKitten>   "Like... noooooooooo!" she screams, but this is quickly replaced by a silence. UncertainKitten smirks, satisfied as she continues on
Oct 25 00:59:56 <UncertainKitten>   Oh, she also picks up a staff guide
Oct 25 01:00:31 <UncertainKitten>   She then finds herself in the main room again, and looks towards the windows
Oct 25 01:01:07 <UncertainKitten>   Moonlight filters through the windows, because despite the sorority girls' efforts to cover them up with black construction paper, they left the windows open
Oct 25 01:01:29 <UncertainKitten>   Rolling her eyes at their stupidity, she closes the windows and a chill runs down her spine
Oct 25 01:01:47 <UncertainKitten>   Mucccccch spooooookier...this is a much more appropriate atmosphere
Oct 25 01:02:03 <UncertainKitten>   She turns around to see a vampire facing her!
Oct 25 01:02:54 <UncertainKitten>   "Oh, need anything? Wine cooler or something?"
Oct 25 01:03:06 <UncertainKitten>   Er, says UncertainKitten non chalantly
Oct 25 01:03:22 <UncertainKitten>   "I never drink wine . . . coolers," replies the vampire, launching herself at UncertainKitten's throat
Oct 25 01:03:28 <UncertainKitten>   "How about a Knuckle Sandwich then!"
Oct 25 01:03:52 <UncertainKitten>   Deftly sidestepping the lunge, UncertainKitten punches the vampire in the mouth, shattering her fangs!
Oct 25 01:06:16 <UncertainKitten>   The vampire falls to the ground, beaten and bruised as UncertainKitten dusts off
Oct 25 01:06:22 <UncertainKitten>   "Well...I guess that sucks for you"
Oct 25 01:06:32 <UncertainKitten>   She says, sauntering off. Her fight has begun
Oct 25 01:07:30 <UncertainKitten>   She heads down into the basement, punching a few more vampires and catching a few ghosts on the way
Oct 25 01:08:16 <UncertainKitten>   She comes upon a fog machine, putting out soft gouts of fog, but nothing spooky at all.
Oct 25 01:08:43 <UncertainKitten>   Can't these girls do anything right? Even if the fog juice is a rip off, there's no point going in a halfway, that's just completely wasteful
Oct 25 01:09:00 <UncertainKitten>   As a firm tenant of her teachings being "waste not want not", she turns up the fog machine
Oct 25 01:09:23 <UncertainKitten>   She coughs as the foul smelling fog fills the air, and shivers as the atmosphere is as spooky as it can get...
Oct 25 01:09:30 <UncertainKitten>   This is gonna get dangerous...
Oct 25 01:09:54 <UncertainKitten>   She runs into another ghost that she traps quickly before making her way back upstairs
Oct 25 01:10:36 <UncertainKitten>   She punches through more vampires, finding them much tougher than they were before, even against her fearsome drunk baby style!
Oct 25 01:11:43 <UncertainKitten>   She switches to straight fighting, using her mixed martial arts to demonstrate some true Kung Fu Fighting
Oct 25 01:12:26 <UncertainKitten>   Once in awhile, her familiar, a pair of stomping boots crushes a vampire to paste. It's a bit grisly, but one must do what they have to...
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 01:34:44 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten once again finds herself wandering in the basement, and then finds herself surrounded by vampires
Oct 25 01:35:03 <UncertainKitten>   "Like, welcome to our lair, right?" one purrs as she wiggles up to you. "Let us introduce you to the pleasures of the night. And stuff."
Oct 25 01:35:21 <UncertainKitten>   She looks at the girl oddly, but knows she's in a bad position surrounded...an idea alights upon her though!
Oct 25 01:35:35 <UncertainKitten>   "Okay," she says, nonchalantly, "wanna play a board game? I've got Settlers of Cataan."
Oct 25 01:35:51 <UncertainKitten>   Looks of disgust pass the girls' faces as they slink back to their coffins
Oct 25 01:35:55 <Shadoweh>   They died of boredom.
Oct 25 01:36:07 <UncertainKitten>   "Ugh, get lost, nerd,"
Oct 25 01:36:12 *   UncertainKitten shrugs
Oct 25 01:36:14 <UncertainKitten>   "Your loss"
Oct 25 01:36:24 <UncertainKitten>   She stalks back up the stairs to punch more vampires
Oct 25 01:36:50 <UncertainKitten>   She notices on her way up that she hasn't run into any ghosts for awhile
Oct 25 01:37:00 <UncertainKitten>   With a light chuckle she says "Well...I suppose they didn't stand...a ghost of a chance"
Oct 25 01:37:07 <UncertainKitten>   She immediately cringes afterwards for making such a bad joke
Oct 25 01:37:11 <UncertainKitten>   "I think I'll just move on"
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 01:54:57 <UncertainKitten>   Breathing heavily, UncertainKitten punches the lights out of her 100th vampire with her fists still covered in what practically looks like a rave of elemental energy...
Oct 25 01:55:14 <UncertainKitten>   However, the horde of vampires surrounding her hardly seems to be thinning at all!
Oct 25 01:55:43 <UncertainKitten>   The Initiate that approached her to tell her of this house suddenly runs up behind her!
Oct 25 01:55:53 <UncertainKitten>   "Here! I dub thee Employee of the Month!"
Oct 25 01:55:56 <UncertainKitten>   She rushes off again
Oct 25 01:56:25 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten looks puzzledly at her, but lets the commendation sink in. Hey, that's kinda neat! She feels stronger, faster, smarter...and ready to punch hundreds of vampires in the face!
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 02:11:32 <UncertainKitten>   UncertainKitten continues punching her way through the vampire horde, her fists becoming raw against the flesh of these dark creatures of the night.
Oct 25 02:11:48 <UncertainKitten>   The horde seems to be thinning, she can see the door to the source of this evil in the distance...
Oct 25 02:12:04 <UncertainKitten>   An opening appears and she rushes towards it, only to be blocked by two particularly nasty looking vampires
Oct 25 02:13:16 <UncertainKitten>   With a heavy sigh, and sweat pouring from her brow, she enters her martial arts stance when SUDDENLY, Arashi, a fellow Master of the Surprising Fist slides by. Wait...that's not Arashi, that's Altrashi, her twin! She tosses vials of stuff at UncertainKitten, who drinks them greedily, becoming much stronger and faster
Oct 25 02:13:46 <UncertainKitten>   "Thanks! I needed that!" She replies as she floors the vampires, but finds herself surrounded again with no end in sight. Altrashi nods, leaving the area as quickly as she came!
-----------------------------------
Oct 25 02:32:51 <UncertainKitten>   Her muscles fading, and her speed dropping, UncertainKitten practically falls to one knee as she punches the final vampire out. The way to the Necbromancer is finally clear...
Oct 25 02:33:18 <UncertainKitten>   However, one would be foolish to go in unprepared. She pulls out a veritable pharmacy of potions as she prepares, to sharpen her vision and to increase her strength
Oct 25 02:34:09 <UncertainKitten>   She also changes her clothes, donning a straw hat, the shorts she obtained from the last time she fought the 'bromancer, a frosty halo, her war medal from long ago, when she destroyed two armies, and a monocle she got from an irritating rat...
Oct 25 02:48:26 <UncertainKitten>   Her many potions consumed, and her spleen filled to bursting, she busts into the Necbromancer's room!
Oct 25 02:49:14 <UncertainKitten>   Chilled by his icy stare, she returns it levelly regardless. "So, I'm supposed to say something dramatic here about how your evil deeds will be put to an end, but honestly, I just felt like kicking someone's ass"
Oct 25 02:50:35 <UncertainKitten>   The necbromancer chuckles malevolently. "Oh, s'that all bra? Well, you've drunk a bit more than you can handle, bra!"
Oct 25 02:51:05 <UncertainKitten>   He quickly casts a spell, frightening UncertainKitten a little, but she shakes it off and punches him in the face
Oct 25 02:51:32 <UncertainKitten>   It's a hard punch, shattering his jaw and covering him in elemental energy!
Oct 25 02:52:24 <UncertainKitten>   With a simple gesture, the Necbromancer draws the warmth from UncertainKitten's body, but she merely turns up her immense aura of heat!
Oct 25 02:52:50 <UncertainKitten>   She moves elegantly into kneeing the Necbromancer in the spleen, causing him to choke up a beer tab
Oct 25 02:52:56 <UncertainKitten>   "Heeey, thanks bra, I was wonderin where that went!"
Oct 25 02:53:13 <UncertainKitten>   Another giant paddle appears, not as frightening this time
Oct 25 02:53:27 <UncertainKitten>   "Don't you know any other tricks, you dark magician?" UncertainKitten replies
Oct 25 02:53:46 <UncertainKitten>   She follows up by two karate chops to his neck, rattling his skull a little
Oct 25 02:54:24 <UncertainKitten>   He slumps a little upon this, and mutters a few words, then stares UncertainKitten with eyes that glow an unearthly color. She steps back slightly, a little disturbed
Oct 25 02:54:47 <UncertainKitten>   But it's just to set up the stance for a Dragon Kidney kick, which the Necbromancer responds to with an oof!
Oct 25 02:55:23 <UncertainKitten>   He continues staring at her with those unearthly eyes, but she refocuses her chi, rapidly trampling him with kicks, flattening him to the ground
Oct 25 02:55:34 <UncertainKitten>   He raises his foul face to the sky, screams "WEAK, BRO!", and falls over backwards, his hands clutching at the earth.
Oct 25 02:55:47 *   UncertainKitten tenses as the earth shakes...
Oct 25 02:56:11 <UncertainKitten>   The ground splits beneath the Necbromancer, cracks radiating from where his fists grip handfuls of dirt. As the cracks get bigger, you see a horde of skeletons waiting just below the earth. They begin to trickle out, then pour forth from the wounded earth.
Oct 25 02:56:35 *   UncertainKitten regards them stoically, then focuses her flaming aura...
Oct 25 02:56:57 <UncertainKitten>   "Burn in the hell from whence you came! ...wait, that sounds kinda dramatic. I mean...uh...die a fiery death! Or undeath! Whatever!"
Oct 25 02:57:00 <UncertainKitten>   FLYING FIRE FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIST!
Oct 25 02:57:57 <UncertainKitten>   The skeletons are incinerated quickly, and UncertainKitten pants as such a large amount of power leaves her, her aura returning to a smaller, placid green.
Oct 25 02:58:30 <UncertainKitten>   As she gets ready to rest, something crawls out from under the bones...
Oct 25 02:58:45 <UncertainKitten>    The Necbromancer's gnarled hand reaches up from the bone pile, grasping and clenching. Then, in an explosion of tibiae, fibulae, patellae, and paella, he rockets from the pile and hovers above it, breathing heavily.
Oct 25 02:58:45 <UncertainKitten>    "Did you think that it would be so easy?" he asks. "Let's finish this, bro. I've got a date with a couple of chicks tonight: your mom and your sister."
Oct 25 02:59:05 <UncertainKitten>   "Your jocular humor has little effect on me. Here, have some ICE with your vodka!"
Oct 25 03:00:36 <UncertainKitten>   She pulls a sheet of paper from her bag, and starts...singing?
Oct 25 03:00:46 <UncertainKitten>   "Things are good between us, now,
Oct 25 03:00:46 <UncertainKitten>   There's nothing that we miss,
Oct 25 03:00:46 <UncertainKitten>   I have given you my vow
Oct 25 03:00:46 <UncertainKitten>   We'll always be like this."
Oct 25 03:01:03 <UncertainKitten>   It's a LOVE SONG, and the black heart of the Necbromancer breaks!
Oct 25 03:01:28 <UncertainKitten>   Shattered in two, the Necbromancer falls to his knees, turning to dust and being blown away, despite the fact UncertainKitten was fighting him indoors
<Bonus content from here because I was tired last night and didn't do the ending right>
A Stein, 10 wine coolers, and most importantly, the Necbronomicon drop from the Necbromancer's remains. UncertainKitten cautiously approached it, cracking it open to read the eldritch runes within. Necromantic power grabs her, causing her to fall flat on her back, unbreathing...Could this be her final adventure?
Oct 25 03:02:12 <UncertainKitten>   ...no, not really, she gets up like 5 minutes later and gets her loot
Oct 25 03:02:21 <UncertainKitten>   "Well, that's over!"
Oct 25 03:02:37 <UncertainKitten>   She leaves the haunted house as it explodes for no apparent reason, and is smart enough not to look back, and walk away slowly
-----------------------------------

Hopefully anyone who's read that won't be too scarred for life at my writing skill or lack thereof :P.

I have two extra designer handbags (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Designer_handbag) from the VIP Room Claw Machine for anyone who wants them. They aren't doing any one any good sitting in my inventory, so whoever pokes me for one first can have one~

EDIT: One left~

EDIT2: Both have been given away~

The remaining Hobopolis side zones have been cleared out, leaving the bosses (minus Ol' Scratch). Chaore has indicated he wants to take down Zombo; if anyone wants to claim any of the other bosses, do so here.

Hobopolis cleared, you're welcome. I want Hodge's Almanac and Chester's Medallion. The rest of the stuff is:

Wand of Oscus
Chester's Bag of Candy
Hodgman's porkpie hat  (This item is love)
Frosty's carrot

Feel free to fight over it.

I'm interested in the porkpie hat or the bag of candy, but I didn't do anything significant, so if anyone else wants them, obviously they should have the priority.

Pretty similar, I don't mind if anyone chucks things my alt's way but it's no big deal, I was just down there farming nickels.

EDIT: Though I mean for pretty much any item, not just those two.

I spent most of my time in Exposure Esplanade and the town center, so I'm most interested in Frosty's Carrot, but I've been itching for an item that gives me Hobo power to turn into something, so the Porkpie hat would be nice unless someone really badly wants it.

Ever have a day where you screw almost every last adventure up because of careless mistakes? That's kind of what happened to me today, after screwing up the Pyramid portion of the MacGuffin quest three times in a row. I hope I'll still be able to get the extra karma for fistcore even though I'll be finishing late. >______<

On a more lighthearted note, the 11th's ridiculous belt/earrings/sunglasses are ridiculously expensive in the mall. This makes me smile. :P

Thanks to my alt, I managed to end up with the sunglasses as well as the earring (and both the sandwiches and cocktails). I just need the belt to complete the triumvirate of ridiculous equipment that so symbolizes 11/11/11.

So, who's already started on the new challenge path? I thought it looked hard due to misreading it, but upon further examination, this seems like a really good source of free karma.

The big hits so far against me have been: No looking glass, no spirit hobo.
However, the scarecrow makes up for the hobo. Sadly, I have no way around the looking glass.

What will suck is when the fax machine rotates out ;_;.

So, recently managed to get my first ascension, going for a second Pastamancer run so I can carry Pastamastery and Transcendental Noodlecraft on whatever I roll. Going to probably use Sauceror on my next run or two so I can abuse scrumpdiddlyumptious solutions for fun and profit

Also, stores in the mall are starting to catch on that I'm just buying 1/day potions at the floor price just to resell and I've been blacklisted :V

So I've been busy with Trendcore Sauceror (first Sauceror ascension, in fact) and schoolwork, too busy to look into things. Has anyone gotten this month's Item of the Month yet? How is it? I heard something about epic food and booze being possible last I checked.

Yep, if you harvest it every day and don't fuss over the bigger stuff you can get three epic booze or one each epic food and booze out of it (given enough base booze, and these are all 2 fullness/drunk). There's also some equipment, a familiar, and some combat junk. I'll probably keep using mine for consumption and once prices go down a bit more buy the sprouts for the bigger items and the giant candycane on the mall (and, well, my alt only has the mall option =P).

tl;dr it's actually pretty sweet because yay epic consumables. If you missed getting pumpkins like most of us did it's an amazing buy, though I think the pumpkins might be slightly better overall.

And it's not just the food and booze that are interesting me-- the cane-mail shirt looks pretty useful, and the peppermint rhino and giant candy cane (along with the licorice roots) make me think that +candy drops are gonna be a thing this Crimbo season. :o

I can imagine a lot of people wanting to hunt you down and murder you for that kind of RNG, Ruro.

Me, I never really cared about the Clockwork stuff(Haven't Ascended many times, only gone Moxie once), though I think I DID get a Clockwork Maid when I did so.  I just don't do enough crafting to need the crafting helpers, I suppose.

(Especially in THIS run, where i'm going OxyCore anyway...Figures I'd be doing that when Crimbo came up, eh?)

You know what really trivializes clockwork keys? Transcendent Olfaction + Rave Steal. My alt got the Gadget Inspector trophy in just two days just using those two techniques. In the case above, I was just using Olfaction since Saucerors are cooks, not ravers.

And speaking of Sauceror aaaaaaaagh I have to break the prism as fast as I can so I can get in on Crimbo already >_<

Haha, I imagine Olfaction would help...for those woh've actually taken the time to farm their Lucre, anyway.  I kept meaning to before, but kept getting distracted.  Might pick it up after this Pastamancer run's over (So I can finally have that Pocketwatch I've wanted, and such), and I'm not sure if i'll keep working on THAT until after Crimbo's over, so I don't miss out on anything particularly good if possible.  *sigh*  All that, and a clan me and my friend are trying to gather Meat for needs to be funded cuz he want to open a Basement so we can eventually start going to places like Hobopolis, etc.  Oy vey.

You gain 270 Magicalness.
You gain 777 Smarm.
You gain a Moxie point!

Muscle:   1644 (249)
Mysticality:   1728 (254)

Psh, lemme show you my stat gains when I get to my powerlevelling segment today~. I'll edit this post then.

You gain 273 Strengthliness.
You gain a Muscle point!
You gain 270 Magicalness.
You gain 777 Smarm.
You gain a Moxie point!

Granted, I only run that for 60 advs.

(My datums if it helps:
UncertainKitten
Level 20
Disco Bandit
Muscle:   1644 (249)
Mysticality:   1728 (254)
Moxie:   4133 (388))

Niiice, that's a lot of buffs. But yeah, I know it could go a lot higher, I'm just being frugal with my buffs since I'll be Crimbo farming for a while yet. (I'm only running hair spray and serum of sarcasm + equipment (hooray Brimstone!))

That's why I only do about 60 advs (I did forget my brimstone boxers though!)
For about 150K I can run Purity of Spirit, Cock of the Walk, Superhuman Sarcasm, Gr8tness, Je Ne Seis Porqois, Tomato Power, Izchak's Blessing, Butt-Rock Hair, Towering Strength, Mitre Cut, Knight Life, The Royal We, Full of Wist, So Fresh and So Clean, No Worries, Stuck That Way, and probably stuff I'm forgetting for 60 advs. This also takes 2 fullness for the queen cookie effects. Either way, this gains me 1.5 levels per day, so far.

With today's fantastic Crimbo update, we may want to organize our gift-giving in some way so that we don't, for example, have tow different people giving someone the same big-ticket item. :V

Would probably be a good idea, yeah. At least with last year, I'm pretty sure no two people got the same Secret Santa; here, there's no way to guarantee people won't get multiples.

I know UK's already sent some gifts out; should we start making a table?

Hm, according to the forum, you apparently can't get sent the same big gift twice anyway, so no worries about that.

Who'd like a gift?

Hm, according to the forum, you apparently can't get sent the same big gift twice anyway, so no worries about that.

Oh, OK.

I am totally in favor of as many gifts as possible on both characters. :V (Both giving as well as getting, so never fear =P)

EDIT in order to not double-post: Apparently the best candy credit yield per adventure seems to be playing Porko in spaaaaaaaaaaace and then spending your isotopes on Comet Pops to trade in. Each pop is 25 credits and Porko does cost one isotope to play but will usually yield you multiple isotopes.

EDIT EDIT: oh man they changed COmet Pops to be only one credit. D:

A table sounds nice.

Well it turns out we don't actually need a table 'cause you can't give someone a big-ticket item someone else has given them. So just trial-and-error until you get one through, or give to the needy and you shall receive in return~

Since most of the people seem to have the big ticket items already, I'll just be sending out stocking-stuffers as I can afford to do so.

In the meantime, I'm spending all of my adventures on putting together gummi fossils; just drop me a line if you want one.

I think I'm fine with having one of each on each character for myself since they're a time sink; actually posting to say I'll gladly toss you some extra fossils for free if you want since they're not worth enough on mall for me to bother selling, I think. Though you're probably swimming in 'em too with the amount of mining it takes for enough ingots. =P

At this rate, definitely. The main issue right now is getting enough lollipop sticks/fudgecules to make molds from (I'm a cheapskate and would rather gather the materials myself rather than buy them)

So I hope everyone's start-of-the-year (or Ruro's end-of-the-year) Festival of Jarlsberg went well!

So, about that libram that's in Mr. Store this month. Its effects seem pretty interesting;
you can summon resolutions that give you stat boosts! And possibly rollover adventures too, I can't remember if that one was spaded.
What do you all think?

I don't recall a festival of Jarlsberg. I did get a Feast of Boris I kind of let go to waste by not getting as much holiday food as possible, though.

Today was January 1st/December 32nd, so since no other KoL holiday was happening, Festival of Jarlsberg.

The aforementioned Feast of Boris is the entire reason I'm Teetotaler this ascension! I wanted to get the Three-Tiered Trophy out of the way before I forgot it existed. :P

Well, Festival of Jarlsberg is happening for me now. Going to use the reduced skill costs to blow through the Mysterious Island battlefield and claim a victory for the hippies this time around. Half-cost Cannelloni Cannon is one of the most useful things ever, especially when you have the full set of cookbooks to set whatever element you want.

EDIT: And had juuust enough adventures to blow through to the Frathouse.

So I'm back to playing this game again... wonder how long I'll last this time.

Anyways, one thing I'm wondering about the "special path ascensions" - are you still able to do older paths (like Bees Hate You) even after it's no longer the current challenge path?

Yes, you can still go back to those. They just won't give you bonus karma once they've stopped being the seasonal challenge.

That won't stop me from going back to Way of the Surprising Fist once in a while, though.

I still need Good Will Punching, so I'm gonna go back at some point if I find the current seasonal challenge underwhelming. And I need to do a Bees Hate You run at some point anyway, for the trophies and the honey drops.

Ok. So, here's the deal. I have a Loathing Legion Knife. I would rather have an Obtuse Angel. I'm going to be selling my knife in two weeks to achieve said angel. Why two weeks? As you all probably know there's a trophy/tattoo associated with the knife. I'll be loaning the knife out over the next two weeks for people to get said trophy/tattoo. Poke me either here or on IRC to borrow the knife.

I myself don't particularly need it, but when Railgun's done with it, I have a friend who likes to collect trophies and stuff, and neither he nor I have NEARLY enough Meat to consider trying to get one of those ourselves(And if we DID, it'd be going toward our unlocking of our own Basement instead anyway)...When it's back in your posession, could I borrow it if said friend of mine is able to receive it?  (Not sure if he ascended today or not, if he did he'll be in HC, so...)

I've messed around in it.

It's like Bad Moon Seal Clubber+, pretty much.  If you don't tend to stack on the ML, this path will be decently easy once you get used to securing food. But if you do like ML, it'll be a hard balancing act. As far as the skills go, I'm sure there's a way to optimize it, and I don't know what they are.

Overall, I'm digging on it.

For first run, it's likely Demand Sandwich ASAP, then Shouting up to Song of Solitude, then finish Feasting however you can. Song of Solitude looks like it can really save a lot of turns.

Ergh, so close to being able to play it...Just beat the NS today, but I want to get to L15 so I can perm both Adv. Cocktailcrafting and SHC this run(HP AC, P SHC) with my Karma from it being Trendy...  Oh well, I guess I can't complain TOO much, since out of the possible familiars I could've needed, one I already had at 20lbs(Potato), and the other I just barely scraped to that level(Mosquito).

Tomorrow I can hopefully get to the level I want and get OUT of this run!  I don't dislike Trendy-it was basically free Karma for me...I just really wanna play AoB, especially if it's potentially a pretty quick run like it looks like.  If I can finish a runthrough in like 2 weeks, I'll be happy.  All that Karma I can build up and perm stuff with...  Probably starting with HPing my P'd Sympathy, followed by something like, I dunno...Maybe Pastamastery so I can do pasta dishes later?

So close...

Every time you use the Trivial Avocations board game cards, you should record the card data so the spaders can get a full list on the following spreadsheets:

When? (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dE83U0hoYTNnbWd3bWVEVEUwamxRM2c6MQ)

Who? (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dElDUHR2UGpnVzcxRDhqT3dFdUx0R0E6MA)

I try to plug in the number, question, and answer fields whenever I use 'em, myself.

Imagine that you're on your 4th day in a HC ascension, and somehow you have reached level 13 with about 20 adventures to spare (after exhausting all turngen resources available). You have never even gotten close to 4 day HC before, but with a bit of good luck with the lair it may actually happen.

Imagine that you then click on the three doors and found out that it wants a handsomeness potion, and a DoD potion you don't have.

Just the imagining getting close to a 4-day is hard enough for me, haha.  Even with Boris, my vest run that I'm pretty sure I'm en route to finishing tomorrow will be an 11-dayer.  Guessing I coulda made it down to 10 had I done some things differently during L11/L12 which I'm on now, as well as with better RNG and such, but either way...Haha, getting an ascension down to under a week would be a huge deal to me, much less a 4-day.

Either way, I definitely feel for you having gotten that freaking Handsomeness Potion, much less the DoD potion you didn't have...  Oh well, I'd say anything sub-a week is still plenty good.

Yes, this is going to make me a few million meats richer given that I got 54 brines, 152 dills, and 149 vinegars, and 160ish ghost cucumbers. I also have 14
mime soul fragments
. However, the items I spoiled do nothing yet, and I'm not sure I would bank on the items being changed anytime soon. Stupid brines were being tsundere on their adventure chances, though, despite the fact that crafting the spectral pickle cuts into my profits.

Oh, I'm Thilk09, despite the fact that I'm already in another clan and would prefer to stay that way for now.

EDIT: I swear to god, people are going crazy over the item I spoiled, because the lowest prices are 64k at the moment. Oh well, looks like getting 14 of these paid off, because I can exploit the prices. On the other hand, part of me is thinking they'll change the item into something usable. However, this has a low chance of happening, so hm...

Ohh, you're a full-time HC player then.  I would be, but since I've still not gotten TOO many skills permed yet, much less HCPermed, I like going into SC to play with my other stuff some just for fun between HC runs.  I'm planning to go full-on HC eventually, just not yet.  Though Boris will help speed me up in that regard, for sure  haha.

Mm, yeah, I definitely understand that in the context of trying to get to leaderboard spots or some such, but just to increase one's speed in general, softcore would tend to be faster since you get both the stuff you have in Hardcore anyway, as well as up to 20 items/day that could help you out later on, or good food from a previous run, etc.  *shrug*  Hardcore gives you cool toys though, but only if you end up playing Softcore or Aftercore stuff can you utilize multiple items in said sets, sadly. (Things like Stainless Steel or Plexiglass, I mean.)

No news on the soul fragments yet.

Also, I plan on doing a lot of slime tube runs over the next month or so to work on getting lubricated (lack of VIP key is putting a damper on my motivation to ascend), Is it OK if the slime tube is opened in about two to three days? (I want to get to level 30 first to make it easier, while getting a trophy en route) I'll pay for the opening, of course.

EDIT: I asked an admin to open it for me for tomorrow. If it opens, and you guys have some time, please help me tickle in it (adventure until you get the adventure Engulfed!, and choose to Tickle the Uvula). Thank you.

I was hoping for a use for the soul fragments from the four-shadowed mimes (Yes, that almost reads like foreshadowing so I doubt they would let it go to waste), but eh, I made 1.2 million off the 13 soul fragments I sold since I was in need of meat anyways. I did keep one, but it kind of feels like they just put that item in there for everyone to try and collect. EDIT: Apparently the mimes are faxable for some reason. So if you saved a copy for some reason, now is the time to abuse the fax machines while prices are at over 100k. :V

Anyways, when rollover comes over, I'm eating 30 out of 42 spooky surprise eggs and see what I get (yes, I know I'll only get 120ish adventures at most, but eh) although I'm not putting my luck into stock for the figures.

After two more slime tube runs, i will have enough nodule-smithed gears that I can start doing 2-nodule runs very easily, and I won't be needing them any more, so if any of you want them, give me a holler.

EDIT: I can do slimeling too, but it costs a lot of meat in potions for ML so I'm not going to do it for free. I did some rudimentary calculations and 800k should cover everything I need.

Remind me to take you up on that offer once I'm in aftercore, RegalStar. (I, for one, am lacking in the brains to plan such a run, but I've wanted a Slimeling for ages so :< )

Sure. You'll have to wait for a couple of days, though, since I still need to smith two more bandoliers to complete my Slime Hates It suit.

Oh, awesome, I could use one. How does this work? (I won't be ascending for two to three days though)

First of all, I can only do one slimeling runs every two days anyways since I need to bank up turns (no way I can get the turngen needed for the tube and the 42 turns on llama gongs while being forced to use up the majority of my fullness/drunknenss/spleen on slime consumables).

Anyways, when you see a pristine slime tube (no one had spent any turns on it), just max out NC and keep +ML 0 or negative (if you have a space trip safety headphone, it's perfect for this task), free runaway in the tube from any slimes you encounter (if you don't understand what free runaways are and don't want to look it up on the wiki, then stock up on tattered scraps of paper and spam them when you encounter slime monsters), until you encounter the non-combat Engulfed!. Choose to squeeze the bladder, and after that you're done with the tube - I'll clear it and give you the larva when I'm done. Coated in Slime will hurt you at the beginning of combat for increasing damage as its duration gets lower, so either time it out by doing non-combat related stuff, or take a bundle of chamois from the clan stash, use it, and then click on the bucket to choose to wipe the condition. The Hot Tub in VIP lounge will also remove it if you have access to it.

I do have Space Trip :O. I can do all that. I just need to ascend first. I *might* be looking at a 4 day. At worst it'll be a 5 day. I'm on Day 3 today.

If UK's gotta wait, I suppose I'll dive in whenever it's ready. Shall I wait for you to start the next tube up, Regal?

EDIT: It's okay if I'm still in HC, right? I haven't really played much on my main lately, but I can totally stock up on tattered scraps of paper and such.

Well, you guys are admins and I'm not, so I suppose it will be you that reopens the tube whenever you're ready. I'm fine at any time - I'll bank ~100 turns per day, and if I see an empty tube with one turn spent squeezing, I'll dive in and do the run.

Also, another option if you don't want to use tattered papers is to CLEESH the slimes. I'm PRETTY sure that this doesn't count as a turn spent for the log (check the log for sure, though), but this is not really a good option for people still in HC because this will run down turns on Coated in Slime, which can kill and people in HC can't get bundles of chamoix from other people. I guess you can always get a multi or another person in the clan not in HC/Ronin to put in the chamoix, though.

I'll be breaking prism tonight/tomorrow it looks like (I got to the gates on day 4 ;_;. I even got my gate stuff (I think)...I just didn't have the adventures to get past)

So yeah, I won't be able to do a simeling run tomorrow since I have to bank turns. UncertainKitten, you can open the tube any time you're ready after that.

Done.

Any further requests will have to wait until at least 3 days later, because I'll be basement running for tomorrow and the day after.

If any of you guys are interested in getting more slimy eyeballs for PvP, the easiest way is to get all six 120MP hobopolis spells and buff your myst to a specific range so they do just under 500 damage to Mother Slime. Make sure you turn off all sources of +ML and passive damage (especially saucespheres!)

Some simple target Mysts, using no spell damage increasers other than Pieces in the Skyes:
Mother Slime with 0 +ML: 3932-4051 (target damage 492-499)
Mother Slime with 20 +ML (one squeeze): 3986-4051 (target damage 495-499)
Mother Slime with -100 +ML (Space Trip Safety Headphone): 3620-4051 (target damage 475-499)
Mother Slime with -80 +ML (Space Trip Safety headphone + squeeze): 3692-4051 (target damage 479-499)
Mother Slime with -115 +ML (Headphone, Drowsy Sword and Nasty Rat mask): 3583-4051 (target damage 473-499)
Mother Slime with -95 +ML (Above gears and one squeeze): 3638-4051 (target damage 474-499)

So, who's started on the new ascension path? I hope all the early bugs have been worked out.

I barely started on it yesterday.  Had been neglecting KoL for other things, like PS2 game binging(Ar tonelico II and Shadow of the Colossus, to be precise), so I wound up just dropping my then-current ascension and starting anew.  (It was a Boris run, so it's not like it'll take too long to do another one, even at my crap pace.)

Anyway, from what I've read and from my first day it seems sort of interesting, and i'm glad the tower's gone, but having to do all the quests AND the entire ship is leaving a sort of bad taste in my mouth.  If they've got that big ol' ship there, why couldn't they just say "Do the main quests enough to unlock the areas to get the bugbears to fight, then just clean out the ship"?  I knew they said the new path would make ascension take longer, but this feels almost artificial to me.  *shrug*  Might just be me though.

I'm started on the new path; this is the first seasonal challenge I've done so far, and right now I'm still kind of early so I haven't really had a chance to experience the significant changes.

Meanwhile, going for the Boss Boss trophy; Boss Bat and Baron von Ratsworth have been defeated at maximum level with the help of buffs from the recent Crimbo items, Goblin King should be fairly soon.

Once you're past Ratsworth, isn't that basically the end of that challenge, given that the other stuff can more readily be buffed past as well?  Me, I don't go for trophies, but I collect ones I can do just as a random thing or if I've already basically completed it without really trying, like the 'cook x recipes' type things, but I've got a friend who's trying to get as many as he can get.

Yeah, Baron von Ratsworth is actually probably (IMO, at least) the hardest part of Boss Boss since he scales. Absolute worst case on all the others just plow through right before you hit up the NS's lair, though in practice you'll be quite solidly fine to take the others on even unbuffed well before that.

This would be more useful if the sword behind inappropriate prepositions was not two-handed :<

But as a bonus, it's available earlier, and you don't need skills to make it IIRC, so it kinda balances out, right?

Yep! I imagine it being more useful in the middle of a hardcore ascension if you don't have access to Innabox and/or Super-Advanced Meatsmithing.

Innabox can't even make the Chrome Sword that beCOMES the SBIP, so it's even more useful.  Don't know what all Innabox could smith that gives +advs, given he can't do anything that would normally require a skill.
