I just finished up my profile, so I'll be checking out the story thread for a bit before figuring out how to insert myself into the Kojiro/Gpop group.. In a mansion surrounded by some pirates? I'll need to read for a while longer... Is anyone else near the mansion, and is the mansion even near Karuisuwa at all?
Day 2
Late morning: Jan arrives at the town of Karuisuwa from the forest, checks into the inn and immediately leaves for the woods. (A little before anyone else conducted business at the inn, hopefully... Is Maribel's dorm a separate building?)
Five PM?: Jan manages to find a conflict near a mansion and lays low to see how he should proceed.
Welcome aboard. Not sure if there are pirates at the time of your arrival (not even sure those people were pirates to begin with. I mean, what, pirates?). Maribel's place is in another nearby town I think, an hour or so by train.
Ok, this is how Karuisuwa is set up overall (I wish I could draw a map...)
The abandoned Saniwa shrine/inn/dojo is located atop a broad, shallow hill, towering about 75 meters above the surface of the lake, surrounded by a grove of cherry trees. It is set immediately adjacent to the lake. Part of its grounds make up the lake's borders. There is a pier and a boathouse by the lake that belongs to the inn. Furthermore, there is a small bridge that goes about 50 meters into the lake to a small shrine that used to be where ceremonies honouring the lake's dragon goddess were held.
The Saniwa shrine is a little ways outside the city proper on its southern side, in the outskirts. There is a good view for miles around. In fact, it has beautiful views of the sunset to the west and sunrises to the east over the lake. Rather scenic. Karuisuwa itself is set in a bowl-like depression with the lake at its center, surrounded by the Yatsugatake mountain range to the south and east and another mountain range to the north.
A plot device will be triggered soon. We will find the keystone Sho mentioned and it will provide us with mana while we're on the shrine grounds so that we won't have to stick to our partners 24/7. However, whenever one of us leaves the shrine grounds, our partners would always have to follow.
Koji's mansion (does it have a name?) is located nearby, within 15 minutes walking distace of the shrine.
Tourist Helpers, where Nemoma is staying, is located down the hill from the shrine. We'll need to work together to promote the shrine.
There is a shopping district further down in town called 'Market Avenue'. It's a street lined with small speciality shops.
A short distance away, there is a deparment store called 'Junes'. They just set up shop recently and are ruining business in Market Avenue. We're about to trash their place a little with the Yakuza fight. Right beside it is a small communal park.
Any further ideas to develop Karuisuwa? What do you want to see in town? Feel free to suggest ideas.
Future plans, a few spoilers, just to let you know what to expect:
- Reopening the shrine. Reimu and Sanae try to teach the other girls the ways of the miko. Some wit decided to go buy everyone miko costumes from the nearest cosplay store (imagine the look on the shopkeeper's face).
- Reopening the inn. Some wit decides to go buy everyone traditional maid costumes, much to the annoyance of the girls.
- Promoting the shrine - We discover that the more worshippers we get, the stronger the shrine's mana supply. We immediately start concocting ideas to promote the shrine further. Shrine festivals! And entering in town idol contests (Marisa, Reimu, Patchy, Sakuya with guitars!) and hosting concerts at the shrine. Hey, even fans are sort of worshippers, right?
- Visit Reitaisai in Tokyo to find ZUN. We end up getting dragged into the cosplay and singing competitions. Guess who wins? We probably won't find ZUN though.
- Mahjong tournament where we go and support Yoh and Meira while fighting off attempts from the Yakuza to foul our team.
- Continued hostilities with the Amakawa and the yakuza.
- Some band of ultra-powered self-righteous group of 'heroes' leading an organization of 'justice and love' declare that team Gensokyo are resurrected demon lords hell-bent on destroying the world. Well, at least they got the demon part half-right..
....btw, what on earth happened to Gpop? Seriously.
Oh, and thanks to everyone for supplying their timelines. I'll get to arranging things sometime today (got a little work to do before that).
Oh, and gotta read too....
