Also, when I'm not using swords, I like the idea of naginata. They are damn cool.
I love those too... I have a replica practice naginata in my room, although it's a bit shorter than normal. Funny thing: Before Slaves designs came out, I was gonna give one to Ijiyatsu!Jan. I think I could still keep one around for backstory; I always kind of liked the idea of a casting magician with an enchanted polearm like that. I know this is supposed to be ZUN-style with minimal backstory, but I've already mapped out IjiJan's growth as a magician in my head...
(I was quite the sword nut in high school, but it's been a little while since I indulged myself. I'll have to find you to chat on IRC sometime, Ruro~)
Sengoku Basara Weapons
I like all of those too. It's not exactly the same, but the weapons and styles in the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series have always held a special attraction for me. As much as I may dislike him as a ruler, Cao Cao's sword is great.
This all reminds me of my plan to draw the various ways Jan would weaponize her instruments. I'm a lot better at drawing blades and stuff, but I've had practice with that Erhu... It'd be a shame if I didn't at least design IjiJan's signature Death Mandolin (of Impalement).
