EoSD on Vista

Hey there, I need some technical help. I have Embodiment of Scarlet Devil (1.2) installed and patched (0.8 ) on my Windows Vista laptop. It runs fine, but at the main screen all that I can see is the background image. I know that this was asked recently but the thread didn't have this sort of problem. Has anyone managed to fix this?

I remember a reboot was able to fix this for me.

Are you sure you're not missing any of the .dll files? Sometimes my Touhou games don't work if I'm missing a .dll file...

Are you saying that when you start it up, it just stays on the loading screen?

I remember asking this question on a different forum, and I was told to switch over to Japanese locale, reboot, and try again. Worked fine after that.

I don't mean to bring up an old topic, but I also have a question about EoSD.

I'm running it on Windows 7, and it works fine, it's just that the framerate is rather low.  Somewhere in the high 40's.  Every other game plays at a usual constant 60.  Is this a programming problem, or is there a config file I can edit?
