Not sure, but it's worth a try. This might be metagaming a bit, but I feel like this whole ordeal wasn't set up to just be a random encounter with a powerful opponent.

>You back out of the burrow, relieved to be back in the fresh air. A few moments later, Dreamy emerges from the burrow, carrying a palm-sized rock with both hands.

>There is only one rock. She offers it up to you, and you see that has been chipped to come to a kind of point, and would fit neatly into the brute's large palm. The point and the edges leading to it are reddened with old blood.

> "Can you retrieve the animal skin next, Dreamy? If it comes with the maggots, that is fine."

>"Okay, but it's really nasty!" she says, as she marches back into the hole. You can hear her dragging something across the dirt a moment later. It takes her about a minute to emerge again, struggling to pull out precisely what she described; a rotten untanned deer hide clearly shot through with maggots and other parasites. It it probably at least a few weeks old.

>"Okay," she says, accenting the first syllable before she returns down into the burrow.
>A few moments later, she return carrying what seems to be a deer's leg bone and a rib of something smallish, probably dog-sized. They are both yellowed and bear clear scrapes on their surfaces.
