Of course there is!  You either vote for the rights of all workers to live in utopia or you vote to enslave everyone and live the life of excess and decadence and sloth.

Looks like another misguided capitalist needs to learn the meaning of hard work.

The snowman stands for all that is wrong with the aristocracy.  He is fat like the decadent and slothlike nobles.  He is sessile like the kings who sit in their chambers while the workers toil in the muck.  He is as cold as the lack of compassion the capitalist has for his fellow man.

Personally, I do not hold with this notion of convincing the plebians to devote themselves to some philosophy. They are more easily kept content with bread and circuses. I suppose that is a trifling matter best left to the Senate, though.

If you'll excuse me, I have legions to command. We invade Gallia at dawn.

Our eyes are fine.  It is you who is blinded by the light that is the glorious Revolution.  You have spent too much time staring at your material wealth and life of sin rather than the sky of a perfect Workers Utopia.

Customers and employees are merely pawns in which to extract wealth and live like a parasite without contributing to society.

What material wealth? Life of sin...eh I can understand but Communist deprives people a lot. And there have been some corruption~ going on in communism
Corruption is caused by nonbelievers and malcontents such as yourself who are willing to sell their fellow man in order to obtain material wealth.

You will merely bring about the blood of any who follow you on your futile attempts at victory. When power reigns supreme, when the misguided concept of altruism indoctrinates the people, you will only serve as an example as to what happens to those who choose to go against the men of Moscow. And all of them will watch, all of those who you choose to "spare" will be your downfall, those you foolishly label as innocents.

There are no innocents, only heroes and criminals.

Title: Re: Vote for the People's Theme!
Post by: Esifex on November 11, 2010, 08:12:02 AM
The original was soft colors - not stark contrast of vivid colors. This is the difference between sitting in a well lit room and having someone shine a torch in your face at midnight. The snowman theme was easier on the eyes - this one forces my focus to slide away towards the borders, where the bright red and yellow are complimenting each other. White and blue blend into each other and make a better background; one that you can ignore.

I'm not getting this effect myself, I don't feel particularly impelled to look away from the action myself. But given fairly strong white background with darkish color in it, which about the strongest contrast you can get, the other should have been pretty hard on you as well, no?

Like that saying in which I am forgetting "If it isnt broke, dont fix it."

If you too feel the need to dissent from glorious soviet country, there's always a workaround... you can set your browser to ignore the style sheet altogether, or use your own. Firefox without plugins doesn't handle that so well, but it's still good enough to have a plain black and white version (it's under View -> Page Style -> No Page Style). It's a bit ugly, but it should be good enough until the revolutionary flame dies off...

At least until we all get walled in CPCM.

...I mean, bright red on bright yellow is pretty retina-burning.
There is no bright red on bright yellow. Who keeps saying that?

It is reguar yellow on dark red, wite on dark red, and black on pastel yellow for the quotes. The only parts where different "bright" colors clash (and those still are quite different from one another) are 1. the borders of the pages where it is not a problem at all because you don't have to focus on it at all and 2. the white part of the "posting" box against the yellow that surrounds it, but nobody has ever said anything against that until now.

...in case you didn't notice, my previous post was not exactly serious...
Title: Re: Vote for the People's Theme!
Post by: Tengukami on November 11, 2010, 02:49:36 PM
The reason why it appears to "clash" is because red and yellow are in the same neighborhood of the spectrum. It's why you don't wear yellow and orange together, for example, without making the hues look very different from each other. Green and blue clashes more than green and purple. The individual colors on this site are not themselves "bright". It's just that they're near each other, spectrum-wise.

Personally, though, it doesn't bother me at all.

Personally? I think we can enjoy having a little fun with the forum for a day or two. For me, this color scheme isn't a bother at all.

As a permanent change for CPMC, though? I don't think it'll work. Eventually we should change back to good ol' snow, but this is a fun change for a time.

Also, now I can actually read people's names. That's a plus.

OK mentioning LR in a derogatory manner is banned.  It's bad enough you guys gave us a black eye for "invading" them.  If it's so painful and disagreeable just ignore the fucking site and move on.  Complaining about it and making fun of them doesn't serve any good except to make us look fucking petty.

Agreed with TSO.

This is just like whining about Caves > Touhou visa versa. Replace the two by forum names or any context and you got the same shitty non-mattering discussion.

I'm sorry, but it's pretty hard to ignore how poorly constructed the plot was after the first episode. It could've been up there as a spy thriller along with other action titles like Big O or Cowboy Bebop, but L/R ended up falling short with plot holes and other direction issues. Call me petty, but such criticism cannot be avoided.

If you do not like the guillotine, take the following steps to avoid it:

1) Volunteer other people to be beheaded for their capitalist crimes.
2) Do some productive work while the executions are happening. This can range from creating threads, such as the second rendition of the love thread in RPG, to actively supporting the regime of Big Sister.

Of course, Sakana may find you and guillotine you anyway. :P

It doesn't bother me != nobody is bothered by this.

All of a sudden people are saying they hated the snow theme.  I personally felt it was fine.  Others disagreed.  This is totally irrelevant.

The relevant point is that quite a few people have expressed extreme dissatisfaction with this.  I really would hope that you guys actually give a damn and are going to change it back, or just to the default skin if the snow theme bothered you so much.  It was fun as a gag, but a lot of people aren't enjoying it.

Who is saying that? What I'm seeing are people getting pretty ragey about an effin' color scheme, threatening to leave the site and what have you, in which case the only rational response is to tell people to calm down. This isn't mutually exclusive with the possibility of changing it back.

Just that I'm not saying that if I don't see a problem, then no one else does or should. I've even made suggestions on what people can do to alleviate their "burning retinas", I believe someone said. What I am saying, though, is that making light-hearted jokes to relax at people getting all GRAR about the theme is, to my mind, a fair response. And that making said joke does not mean it's never getting changed back. That's all.

We're just having a bit of fun. I like the total lack of ability to take a joke on the part of CPMC's userbase.

There's a point when a joke stops being funny and clever and becomes tired and overdone, though - and like I'd said, having every instance of someone voicing their discontent with the obnoxiously bright new theme being followed with immediate dismissal, especially from the moderators, can get rather tiresome. It's the same thing with trying to have a mature debate, and then the other guy just starts bellowing U MAD BRO? U MAD? It grinds the entire thing to a halt and no further intelligent dialogue can be had, because of one person being overly obnoxious and rendering all further attempts to even be civil useless.

Maybe if it weren't just TSO coming along with the LOLCOMMUNISM joke after every request to go back to the snowman theme, it wouldn't have felt like someone in power were trying to force a joke on everyone else.

Of course, I'm hitting this point of irritability probably because I'm ill, and even though I still don't like the color scheme, I'm appreciative of the fact that it was dimmed down a little.

Only we're not having a mature debate and an intelligent dialogue; we're posting on a joke forum. I don't see anything wrong with yucking it up in response to some pissing and moaning over something this trivial. And then there's Vic's point (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,7667.msg484113.html#msg484113), which bears repeating.

In other words, no one is "disrespecting" you if they joke back at you, nor does it mean your concerns aren't being taken into consideration. It means this is CPMC, and sometimes folks need to lighten the hell up.

Typical Capitalist pigdog demanding his excess and decadence back and willing to ignore the will of the common Worker.

Serious answer:
It's a goddamn fucking joke.  Deal with it.  My responses were "lolcommunism" because I was playing along with the meme we were building.  Learn to have some fun and stop being so serious.  It's a temporary (you really think I'd keep something this ugly permanent?) layout change, in the joke forum, to fit along with the names Edible changed most of the staff to.

Seriously, if there's going to be a goddamn crisis every single time we try to have a little fun, then why the hell do we even bother?

For the record, I found the whole communism thing hilarious just because of how absurd it was. The theme was annoying at first, but the more I looked at it, the more it added to the hilarity. If someone didn't like it, they could have just ignored this board for a few days until it was gone - it's not like anything particularly important happened during it, anyway.

As a side note, "Cirno's Petty Moaning Center" sounds like a bad hentai.

The title's getting nuked next oh my god

Now that you've said that, I can't think of anything else when I read the board name.

Folks need to learn how to not give a shit like I do on most occasions.

In b4 "Erebus, you bitch about yuri all the time though."

As a side note, "Cirno's Petty Moaning Center" sounds like a bad hentai.
You too, huh?

Yes we have, but they're not in this topic :P
Really, what does any of this have to do with trolling? :/

What really makes me wonder is how adamant some people are that brushing off the complaints is such a terrible thing.
Yes, the complaints were given a :dwi: because it was a minority complaining, while the rest had fun with it and didn't mind. You're not going up to the host of a party and telling him the music sucks and he should change it when everyone else has fun dancing, do you? You'll be told "Just bear with it, song's over in a bit", and nothing else happened here.
Some people even gave advice on how to turn the custom skin off for the time being if you really hated it so much. Is CPMC so important to some people they can't leave it alone for a few days if they absolutely can't stand it?

CPMC is our crack.

But seriously, I have to agree. The insistence that this was horrible and we should have no more fun got kind of ridiculous. Anyway, at least the storm's over now.

Well, the Soviet Union of CPMC may have fallen, but Patchouli's Soviet Library still stands strong :V

Now that the experiment in the communist revolutionary-imperial paradigm has collapsed, leaving the old guard in a shambles in a defense against enemies both inside and out, I think it's high time I stepped forth from my shadowy recent movements and claim my spot as either an exploitative industrialist or brutal mafioso.

How does THAT happen!?
You sure it ain't your network connection? That also looks like FF 3 to me, so it shouldn't be the browser...

To tell you guys the truth, I like the snow theme. It just shouts "Cirno" to me. And I like Cirno.

Its my chip set. Its burnt out so the motherboard has to run what little graphics it can.
The Commi theme had a lot less for me to render.

The Color Yellow causes Eye Fatigue. Excessive use of yellow can lead to eye-strain. Additionally, it's attention getting aspect is typically used for warning signs that ask quick reaction, like Yield, the Yellow Light, and of course, Police tape. The color yellow can also harness feelings of frustration - people are more likely to lose their temper, and babies subject to rooms painted yellow cry more frequently.

The color red invokes intensity of feeling. It is linked with deep passion not just in love (Hearts, Romance, Roses) but in war as well (Blood). It creates feelings of excitement, and leads to more intense actions amongst humans.

So, Irritability + Frustration + Intensity = ???

Meanwhile, blue is the color of calmness and serenity. It also harbors sadness, rather than anger. People surrounded by blue tend to be slightly more productive. It is related to aloofness. Hilariously enough, it can also reduce the pulse rate, which in turn reduces body temperature.

White on the other hand creates a sense of space, and creates a sterile image in the watcher's mind. Typically representing purity and innocence. If too much white is used, it creates a cold, empty space.

Really, the color switch was very jarring for people, and it had a deep psychological impact. I'd almost go so far as to say that it's really no one's fault that this happened in particular. No one was aware in a timely enough manor that we practically set up CPMC regulars to suddenly switch gears as if someone pulled a full moon out of the sky and forced everyone to go hakutaku. I remember one of my thoughts when browsing the new theme was that the forum somehow looked a lot smaller than it should be, which I think is related to how I was use to CPMC being white.

If we do end up making another theme change, I'd like to offer a Green with mild dashes of pink, except that would probably get me kicked out of here for trying to murder Letty :V

Also, all hail free stuff. Communism.

Which is what makes it awesome. 8)

That explains why my room is so cold, having blue walls... but lol productivity :V

You mean things like suddenly having a gaudy, eye-burning yellow background? :3

The ordinary Red and White scene was pretty nice, to be honest.

There never was a yellow background. It was a yellow outline/border/whatever, and the only place where it was really that irritating was at the top of the screen. :/

I disagree, but this is probably a subjective difference, not really worth pursuing.
