Title: World of Ijiyatsu - The Mystical Bibliotheque Archives
Post by: Gappy on November 17, 2009, 11:33:55 PM
So, I've picked up yet another little pet project that I think will keep me entertained for a little while - namely an ijiatsu spinoff fiction project.

What I really want is a little information on your iji-selves and the world around you.

What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.

EDIT: What race are you?

How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?

What do you do for a living?

What are your objectives/goals/ambitions in life?

Would you be interested in starting a 'disaster' or taking part in one? If yes, what sort?

Who around you are related to you? In what way?

Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?

What sort of person are you? How would you react to a threat? A challenge? A plea for help?

Please keep in mind I may alter things to fit in my story. However, an idea of what your preferences are may serve as a guide.

Even if this doesn't produce a (good) piece of fiction, at the very least it'll serve to flesh out the world of Ijiyatsu.

This is not limited to those already in the game, so if you aren't already in ijiyatsu, this your opportunity to get some sort of an iji-self created.

Hmm...I have nothing else to do, and need a break from the fic/stepping.

What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.
Uh...we have an age? Let's keep it unknown like ZUN does with his characters.

How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
Just wandering around thinking of Koishi-chan and, if possible, hang around with her a lot.

What do you do for a living?
I'd rather be wandering aimlessly, bothering others for fun and all.

Other than that, step files for Touhou, harass people for fun, I dunno.

Who around you are related to you? In what way?
Kanako, known each other since FFR.

Trance. Had somewhat of a history back in the old forums :V

Donut, Prody, Drago(ry, hung out at the livestream channel a lot last summer when there's nothing else to do.

Ruro, motivator for fic-writer and fellow Koishi lover <3

Sana, rape victim

Theorist, ex-troll attempted victim. Now just casual friends.

I have two others whom I will not mention because both of them are banned therefore not related to ijiyatsu.

Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
Uh...I dunno. Anywhere I guess? CPMC? Palace of Earth Spirits?

If I could live in Palace of Earth Spirits, then whoever lives there canonically (Koishi, Satori, Oku(ry

If I make my own place, then just say some random house in the Forest of Stupidity. People comes in and hangs out, but other than that no one else I guess.

What sort of person are you?
Looking at my portrait, I'm guessing the Koishi-loving mindless perverted Satori =/. Probably a bit annoying about it too.

How would you react to a threat?
Wut?

A challenge?
Why?

A plea for help?
Rape.

Don't want to talk into other people's stuff without permission, but it's no good, no good. A series have to reach at least the second game to expand its world. It needs the first game to lay down the foundations, but a complete world can't be made until the second game. It's unwritten rule.

Age unknown :V A bear youkai with a great love of collecting hats. Her "Manipulation of bears" power allows her to communicate with most kinds of animals, and turn into a giant bear-monster.
She seems nice enough, and doesn't talk much, but mind reading youkai tend to stay away from her...

Usually just hangs around wherever everyone else is at, occasionally making some small talk.
Her hobbies are collecting strange hats, and rating people's "Bear points"

She occasionally gives people rides from place to place. It's not her actual job, but people pay her anyways

Post by: Letty Whiterock on November 18, 2009, 06:29:23 AM
What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.

Letty Whiterock is only 23 years old, as she only lives 3 months of every year.

She is not to be confused with the true Letty Whiterock of Touhou fame. This Letty was actually hired by the original Letty as something of a winter stunt double while she left Gensokyo to traverse the Himalayas. The real Letty is either having a lot of fun or has been incredibly lost, as she hasn't been seen since this Letty was hired.

Like the original Letty, this Letty is a lady of the winter with the power to manipulate cold, though her abilities are not as strong as her namesake's. Letty's primary ability is manipulation of emotion. Using her cold stare and unpredictable demeanor, she can cause her enemies to feel great happiness, sadness, anger, or anything in-between. In doing so, she can easily take advantage of her target's vulnerabilities and strike when they least expect it.

Letty is well-known for two specific things: the gear on her left shoulder and the suitcase she carries. The origins of the gear are unknown, and no one is sure whether it holds any sort of significance. It turns very quickly as she releases more powerful attacks and spell cards, so there are theories that the gear acts as the turnkey to her abilities, but no one has confirmed this. As for the suitcase, no one, perhaps not even Letty herself, has any clue what it contains. Perhaps it is best never to know...

How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?

Letty spends most of her days either relaxing by herself. Occasionally, she visits a few people, but she's seldom seen in crowds outside of youkai staff meetings.

What do you do for a living?

Letty simply does the job of Letty, whatever that may be.

Who around you are related to you? In what way?

Kilga is an old friend of Letty's, and Slaves appears to be on her good side through gift-giving. Beyond that, everyone else is merely an acquaintance.

Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?

Letty has no real home and simply sinks into the snow whenever she feels like sleeping. Since she (supposedly) hibernates through most the year, she spends much of the winter out and about. No one's sure if she actually hibernates, so it could very well be that Letty either lacks the need for sleep or just doesn't sleep.

What sort of person are you? How would you react to a threat? A challenge? A plea for help?

While she does not lack empathy, she is quite critical of others and sometimes feels no sympathy for anyone around her. Because of this, people often feel intimidated by her presence or avoid her entirely on the conclusion that she's just a jerk. Letty reacts primarily out of obligation. Threats are taken care of in order to protect the rest of the higher-ups, challenges are responded to in order to uphold Letty's honor, and pleas for help are answered because often, no one else will.

Post by: trancehime on November 18, 2009, 09:36:43 AM
What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.

Being a tatsu, TranceHime has actually been around for over two hundred years. Definitely not as old as some of the Touhou youkai you are all familiar with, but definitely older than your typical person (TranceHime claims to be 252 years old). It's been known that TranceHime wears somewhat regal attire, so it begs the question of her lineage, it seems that though she conceals her history and treats herself as a mendicant, she is actually a princess of a faraway land.

The crown diadem she wears on her head appears Western, but actually is supposed to house TranceHime's trump card, the Hexalung Diadem (六龍宝玉), which is rumoured to house six legendary swords by hammerspace means. Actually, the Hexalung Diadem is at present empty bar one because someone stole them all except the single one the thief probably thought looked worthless. The said sword is the Fenris. This is one of the reasons why TranceHime is wandering the land, in search of information of her lost, remaining five blades.

They are the Caladbolg, the Wyvern Caliburn, the Ryuujintou Gram, the Cunei Claymore and the Daimetsuken Brisingamen. These weapons are all actually kinda weak despite their fancy names, mainly because they draw their power from the user. TranceHime's draconic tatsu powers were drained from her being by an otherworldly force, leaving her with her innate ability to manipulate gender. Whoever stole her powers, that is who she is searching for, as they likely have her five other swords. It is said that when TranceHime regains her powers, she attains dragon-like features.

Quote
How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?

Now being a wandering mendicant, a vagrant, TranceHime wanders towns, villages and a whole host of other places aimlessly, asking people and youkai about potential leads on who stole her weapons. It hasn't been going too well.

Quote
What do you do for a living?

Nothing, because TranceHime is a traveler on a MISSION

Quote
Who around you are related to you? In what way?

TranceHime has some sort of bad history with Gpop, which is why although she knows Gpop has some information, she chooses to stray away. Furthermore, it appears that she has some sort of relationship with TSO, though what this relationship is is unknown by everyone. E-Mouse, Dragoshi, Sana and a bunch of others have provided as advisors and friends to TranceHime in her travels, and have proved as a great source of moral support. In actually, during the events of the Ijiyatsu game proper, it can be assumed that TranceHime accompanied Gpop because she was promised information on the location of her missing swords. During the course of Ijiyatsu, TranceHime serves as an advisor and provides words of wisdom in dialogue.

Quote
Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?

As TranceHime is a nomad, she lives in no single place at once, and usually stays with whoever is in the same lodgings as her.

Quote
What sort of person are you? How would you react to a threat? A challenge? A plea for help?

Being unseeming in nature, TranceHime uses this to her advantage in becoming a true mendicant. However, as she is a tatsu binded to human form, she still DOES have some semblance of power, and can easily deal with minor threats by using her Fenris sword. However, with her reduced power, she would much rather deal with threats by use of words or diplomacy. She is sagacious with her words and tries to help advise those who are in need. When challenged, TranceHime won't back down unless she knows she will lose badly or win an empty victory. As an unseeming mendicant, she rarely gets pleas for help nowadays, but won't refuse to help someone being attacked or being mistreated.

Thanks for those of you who've posted info. I've already begun to piece everything together. Plus I just finished my exams so I'm free...for a while....

That said, I need the following:
A) A youkai/non-human character who eats (or at least attacks) humans.
B) Any sort of character who might protect humans.

Sadly, I cannot help you there.

AGE: Roll a random 3-digit number. I don't care.

APPEARANCE: i has a laptop. Somehow.

LIFESTYLE: E-mouse/Mus/Maus/Fatmus/(assortage of other nicknames) lives his life somewhere between that of a hobo with a laptop, a cowardly wandering wanna-be do-gooder, and that one friend that sleeps on the couch and only helps with the rent three months a year. He usually stays at Purvis and Slaves' place, lurking somewhere in unused rooms or cabinets, but sometimes gets bored enough to wander around outside, occasionally taking genuine trips through the region.

PERSONALITY: Normally acts smugly amused (bemused) by events, making wisecracks or flashing images of related content at inopportune times. Stays detached from the 'real' topic of conversation unless things get genuinely serious or dangerous, in which case he'll serious it up immediately. And stop with the images. Mostly.

COMBAT/CONFLICT: Tries to talk it out first, as calmly as he can manage. Eager to flee if physically threatened, but can and will raise a stink about the fight once out of harm's way. Still sometimes loses his temper and attacks blindly, but he's not very good at it. Will attempt to intervene if something nasty's happening to someone else, but isn't around most of the time and still flees easily.

Sana is not the most assertive person around, and is mostly oblivious to a multitude of things. Since her power is temperance, she rarely gets angry. Should someone confront her, she would try to talk things out with the other person. If that fails, she runs. Combat is usually not an option, so nobody has ever seen Sana in a fight. Sana would try to help as much as possible if someone asked her for help.

I'll talk about my plans for the world in my story later when I get home.

The basic parameters that would be established for the topography of the world in 'canon' is: 1. It's like Gensokyo. 2. There is a sea. 3. There are important places, but complete maps likely do not exist. 4. There is an 'edge of the world', where OMES takes place (i.e. border between Ijiyatsu and the forums) but it's not something widely visited or known by any means.

The current development of Ijiyatsu is sorta backwards right now (Since 'fanon' based on the 'canon' game is coming out first). And since 'fanon' usually expands upon details implied or not-mentioned in the original, the 'canon' Ijiyatsu constructions will actually be less fleshed out than they would here, characters AND world. Since the primary reason to establishing vague and somewhat skimpy world parameters is to give derivative work more options.

I think that as long as you keep that in mind, along with being receptive to the idea of possible  revision to fit into the 'canon' better, then go crazy.

Post by: Jana on November 18, 2009, 05:27:24 PM
Shouldn't be too hard, considering I did most of this for the spreadsheet some time ago.

What race are you?
Youkai Magician (Formerly Human)

How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
Travelling and performing music to lift people's spirits, perhaps a random Danmaku game to spice things up.

What do you do for a living?
Jan is a Magician Musician, specialized in magic that can make herself and allies stronger, her enemies weaker, or restore energy (buffs/debuffs/heals). Casting by song, she prefers to support her allies, but is quite formidable with her Death Mandolin if she needs to be.

Who around you are related to you? In what way?
Moerin, another magician and old friend.
Trance, a fellow wanderer.
Many other acquaintances gained through travels.
(I'd kinda like to throw in a Sana/Jana gag.... Maybe they're familiar enough that Sana calls her Jana.)

Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
Jan doesn't stay in any one place for very long, but enjoys rooming with a friend for a night before moving on.

What sort of person are you?
Normally nurturing and easygoing, Jan can become a serious threat if she is angered. While she tries to avoid it, she seems to enjoy being angry.

How would you react to a threat?
Through the utilization of both her buffing magic and her natural anger, Jan can become a fearsome physical fighter when she feels seriously threatened. Her Death Mandolin's impaling spike is a usual favorite. It may be worth noting that Jan doesn't remover her glasses in combat.

A challenge?
A challenge that isn't a serious threat will be treated like just another Danmaku game to Jan. Her magic style isn't tailored well to Danmaku dueling, but she prefers to make patterns that follow a rhythm/beat while she strums a spell to summon the patterns themselves.

A plea for help?
Jan will usually heal or increase the abilities of an injured person or youkai until they can fend for themselves. Being a former human, Jan helps both humans and youkai on equal terms.

Edit:
What age are you?
Jan's age is ambiguous, but she has lived much longer than most humans ever would.

Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.
Her clothing choice, a pajama top and pants, are a small homage to Patchouli (if we're going with the 4th-wall-breaking route).

Well it kinda became more than one question. Just because I've had an idea that the world of Ijiyatsu resembles the forums in one way or another. Like, there's a Hakurei Shrine here too on the borders, there's a Trash Gap, and a big Mental Hospital called "The CPMC" (but nobody really knows what "CPMC" stands for so its name is constantly changing).

She is a silly little cupcake in a frilly red dress happy-go-lucky goofball, rather bright, and a bit of a smartass, though never maliciously so. She's usually cheerful and outgoing, but she has a bit of a shy streak, making it somewhat hard for her to actually connect with specific people, but once she's gotten the hang of being around someone she has as much fun in their company as anyone else. She got her shyness from a few run-ins with youkai-hunters, before she eventually made her way to MOTK fairly recently. Her actual age is about 24 or so.

She possesses a pair of sunglasses (with a design which would allow them to be worn over a regular pair of glasses) which contain the power of Rock and Roll. She can't actually do anything with them except use them to look cool.

Quote
What race are you?
"Manipulation-of-whatever"-youkai of the Unexpected.

Once upon a time, in a magical forest, there was a rather distinctive-looking rock; it was about twelve feet tall, and when viewed from the proper angle, it seemed to have a rather astonished looking face. After it was discovered, it gained the nicname "the Unexpected Rock" (望外の石/Bougai no Ishi, for you translators to use) and by something of a coincidence, unexpected things began happening there. You know, people finding something they'd lost, or just minor surprises, or making the opposite decision from the one it looked like they were about to make, or suddenly getting an idea that seemed brilliant at the time. It only happened when people were around, though -- you can't have something unexpected happen unless there's someone there not to expect it, or to expect something else.

You can't have something like that happen in a magic forest without something funny going on, and as a result, the magical aura of the immediate vicinity began to take on the nature of the unexpected, which led to more unexpected things happening. Since people began to associate this with the Unexpected Rock itself, it began to absorb more magic of this nature -- a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy, on a similar principle to how gods come about and gain Faith. It got to the point where you'd only be able to find it unexpectedly (or if you'd gotten lost looking for it and given up).

Finally, the magic built up, until one day a youkai appeared, fully-formed (and fully-dressed) on top of the rock, with a fully-developed mind to boot. That youkai was Kimiko Fusoku, with the unexpected nicname of "Muffin." This rather surprised the sorceror who'd stumbled upon the Unexpected Rock while he'd been looking for spell-ingredients. She thought this event was splendid (壮大/soudai).

Quote
How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
Mostly just trying to get by, really. She's still in the "getting the hang of being around" stage for MotK itself, adding to her difficulty with connecting with people.

She tends to use her power over the Unexpected to come out with puns, or to come up with outlandish connections between unrelated things, or to take metaphors slightly farther than you thought you could while still working. When she goes out, she can often be found doing silly things, like sitting in midair curled up in a little ball (like in the official art), or flying around by somersaulting in that position.

Occasionally, she likes to pull unexpected pranks, or to leave hidden messages in plain sight where they won't be found.

Quote
What do you do for a living?
She's still finding her feet, so she still hasn't worked that out yet. She has assured people, though, that whatever it is will be unexpected.

Quote
Who around you are related to you? In what way?
Not really anyone, in particular, mostly due to her hidden shy streak. She's recognizable, due to her various antics, but she doesn't really have any close friends yet.

The Unexpected Rock is still there. It's quite possible that the process has happened again.

Quote
Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
She lives in a small apartment near the edge of the population center, but not too near. It's somewhat cluttered and messy.

Quote
What sort of person are you?
She considers herself only slightly further-removed from humans than a youkai-magician; she's a rather human-like youkai, even if she acts rather catlike (and can purr). There's a rather affectionate side to her, too, which comes from the "catlike" bit.

She often acts as if she was the one in control of things, or at least as if she expected unexpected things, and it seems difficult to surprise her. She has a tendency to add qualifiers like "a bit" and "-ish" to things that make her sound a bit less definite. Sometimes, therefore, her catchphrase of "Splendid~" comes off as being like "Just as planned."

Quote
How would you react to a threat?
If it was a generalized threat, she'd try to help deal with it. Threatening her might cause her to shift into "go ahead. Make my day, punk" mode.

Quote
A challenge?
She'd be somewhat interested, in an amiable sort of way, though she won't usually accept if she thought it was too likely she'd lose (her preferred "odds of losing" are lower than most, too).

Quote
A plea for help?
She would do whatever she could to help, if she thought she was the best person for the job; this would include getting someone who would be better at it than her.

What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.

Erebus' age is unknown, and may even be immeasurable by 'human' standards. Erebus herself never actually speaks of her age either (although she doesn't appear to be embarassed by how old she might really be, it simply maybe to keep those who want to know in the dark). Erebus has a rather demonic appearance, bearing black horns and 5 green spaded tails. Her attire consists of a navy blue robe-like garb with large sleeves and bloomers that she appears to wear as shorts.

However what seems to be the biggest mystery about Erebus is what type of creature she is. It is already known that Erebus originated from Makai, so she could be a form of demon, how some argue that Erebus is some form of "Reverse" Baku who doesn't consume nightmares but evokes them to her will and manipulates them, while a few claim that Erebus could be an Eldritch Abomination that was given form from the negative emotions of the many demons that live in Makai. Which ever it maybe, it is obvious that Erebus maybe something much more than a simple 'Death Fairy'...

Erebus' power lies within the ability to manipulate 'Nightmare Fuel', using such a power she can bring an opponents worst fear to manifest, manipulate her body to form an eldritch horror that breaks the mind and soul of any sane individual, or just to sprout things out of her body that really should NOT be there. Generally, anything that is regarded as creepy, unsettling or just flat out wrong and is considered a crime against one's sanity is within Erebus' jurisdiction. Interestingly enough, Erebus' tails have the uncanny ability to shapshift into many different things and are quite prehensial as well, so much so that Erebus uses them as extra hands to multi-task.

Quote
How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
Erebus finds joy out of 'scarring people for life', so she usually spends her days summoning forth 'Nightmare Fuel' to torment any poor soul that steps within a few feet of her.

There are even reported sightings of Erebus in the dreams of various individuals. Apparently, when someone is about to have a nightmare, it is said that the victim will see a faint projection of Erebus somewhere within their dream before said projection vanishes into thin air. Shortly after, the victim's dream becomes nothing more than a twisted hell of mindfuckery. Whether this is the doing of the actual Erebus, or something else entirely remains unknown...

Quote
What do you do for a living?
Although it is not an occupation per se, Erebus claims that it is her 'duty' to cause nightmares. Outside of this, Erebus also appears to be the so-called 'Leader' of the Three Mischievous Death Fairies which consist of Dustyjo, Slowpoke and herself.

Quote
Who around you are related to you? In what way?
Despite being unapproachable in many senses, Erebus actually has several relationships with other individuals

-Dustyjo: Partner/Estranged Friend
-Slowpoke: Partner/Estranged Friend
-Mode: Former Death Fairy member, Disgruntled about her having been exalted to Mid-Boss status (May even be envious of her position).
-Slaves: Mother

Erebus has no real tie in with the events of Ijiyatsu (as far as plot goes), but she appears alongside her partners to attack the herorine.

Quote
Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
Although she lives alongside Dustyjo and Slowpoke in a single home, Erebus' exact location is unknown.

Quote
What sort of person are you? How would you react to a threat? A challenge? A plea for help?
Erebus is, in every sense of the word, Weird. It is difficult to understand what goes on in Erebus' head most of the times and usually if one were to find out, the end result is usually not a very pleasent one. Erebus is extremely impulsive and will do things just because she feels like it, whether it be scarring someone for life or devouring their dog, if Erebus has an urge to do something then she'll do it. Alongside this, Erebus also seems to be mentally unstable as well, and will erupt into bouts of random violence at a hair's trigger usually for no reason at all.

Erebus has a strong distaste for positive feelings, especially that of "Love", seeing such things will evoke her hatred of the emotion in the form of extreme violence against the one who emanates of such a thing. Strangely enough, Erebus seems to have a good relationship with her fellow Death Fairies; Dustyjo and Slowpoke. How this is, remains a mystery, but then again it's Erebus...no one can truly comprehened too much about her as it is >_>

Threats to her are usually brushed off and generally, not taken seriously unless the opponent acts against her. At which point, she'll make sure they regret every second for attacking her...or she'll probably just eat you, depends on how bad of a mood you put her in. Challenges may be responded to in the same manner. Pleas of help will usually be laughed at while Erebus continues to make things worse for the victim, tormenting them both mentally and physically for her own amusement before getting bored and going elsewhere.

Q: What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.
A: She is really 522 years old, though she look about 10 right now because she started her 33rd 32-year cycle.  She doesn't talk much, but she really loves fireworks. She keeps roman candles on hand at all times. She dresses modestly (no swimsuits 'cause she can't swim) but also has a thing for hats of all sort.

Q: What race are you?
A: She is a Huma bird, a symbol of kingship in Sufi tradition. Unfortunately, she is the type that doesn't have legs, so she can't rest anywhere or do anything that needs legs. She hides this fact by wearing long sweeping dresses and hovering close to the ground using her skill. She has the unusual and extremely versatile ability to manipulate rotation and any sort of curved motion. That means she can to some extent make herself and other objects defy gravity (centripetal force), spin rapidly (angular acceleration), and stop them from moving (angular velocity because of gravity). If she tried hard enough, she could stop a planet from spinning. However, she doesn't use it for anything other than the most basic applications.

Q: How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
A: Mostly she spends her time gathering new materials for fireworks or designing them. Every once in a while, she comes up with a startling new and exhilarating pattern, but most end in disaster. She is also a vegetarian, so she has no problems food-wise until winter. Then, she will resort to go for anything that crosses her path and looks delicious.

Q: What do you do for a living?
Although she does work with pyrotechnics, she does nothing important for a living other than trying to make a sale.

Q: Who around you are related to you? In what way?
A: No one in particular, except once she tried to court someone. It ended in failure.

Q: Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
A: She has a reputation for being a restless wanderer, but she makes a habit of staying at random places at night. She doesn't need to sleep, so she is always awake. Always.

Q: What sort of person are you?
A: She is mostly timid. She doesn't talk much, and it is generally assumed she is mute. She is not.

How would you react to a threat?
A: She will usually try to talk down threats. If she knows she is in a situation where she cannot run, she will hold her ground.

A challenge?
A: She takes anything she thinks as a challenge at face value and will fight full force. This includes insults and any attempt to gain royal status or to lift her skirt.

A plea for help?
A: She usually doesn't answer these, since most of them are humans trying to become kings when she flies over them.

[/narcissism]

Q: What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.
A: Old like really old.

Q: What race are you?
A: An Archaeopteryx which is traditionally acknowledged as the first bird. This also means She has three clawed fingers on her wing tips. Due to this and the very long life they have lived they can command insignificant birds. Those that are Youkai themselves are generally unfazed by this though.

Q: How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
A: They sit around making comments about random information... Usually it's something bird related but some concepts that come to her mind are out there. Might attack others who look interesting if they get bored.

Q: What do you do for a living?
A: Amazing fun things like harassing people, and ranting about how flight originated from birds. Also gives lengthy Ornithological lectures to random passerby.

Q: Who around you are related to you? In what way?
A: No one she has no friends...
Except the small generic uninteresting birds. But there only nice because she makes them nice to her.

Q: Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
A: She wanders and sleeps while balancing on a single foot in high places.

Q: What sort of person are you?
A: Looks down upon Humans because most are incapable of flight. Overreacts to threats and insults. Occasionally attacks those who look interesting for fun.

How would you react to a threat?
A: Claw them with the silly claws on my wings. without a second thought.

A challenge?
A: Sit and consider the challenge and if it would prove beneficial to them they would go through with it.

A plea for help?
A: Not interested

Yes, I'm trying to cast the main characters and 'bosses' of the story.

Also, think about your relationships. Remember how in Touhou there are a good few families and households. Any of you interested in sorting yourselves into families/households? One good current example is Moerin's household, which consists of Moerin, his headmaid Stein, Lady's Maid Xan, and little sisters Nobu and Mode.

What are your objectives/goals/ambitions in life?

TranceHime's present objective is to regain her five missing weapons and her stolen power, whoever it may be with. This is the main objective with which she has been striving to achieve for the best of a couple of decades now, so it seems evident that the culprit is quite old. Afterwards, TranceHime intends to settle somewhere and secretly rebuild her abilities so she may return to her land and reclaim supremacy there. However, her loneliness and her desire for company may burn stronger than this...

TranceHime has no interest in causing such trouble, and is definitely not interested in taking part in such trouble either. She has her own mission, and if STOPPING the 'disaster' is going to help her attain her goal then so be it.

TranceHime being part of a royal family line of Tatsu can't really be cast into a certain household, but you can use this element of her character as you see fit

Gpop has no real goal to achieve, except for the unrealistic goal of meeting Koishi some day in her life. Luckily, she's smart enough to know that this is highly unlikely.

Would you be interested in starting a 'disaster' or taking part in one? If yes, what sort?

Depends on what the disaster is and what the reward could possibly be. It it's for attention, fame, and a ID position, then more likely. It if involves Koishi, then yes.

Else she'll more likely pass on it.

Also, think about your relationships.

She's generally alone and more likely hangs around with those I mentioned before. She enjoys a bit of solitude.

Name: Purvis (additional names, titles, and so on are added as desired with little regard for reality)
Age: Like a fine wine and older than you.
Race: Human? Archon? Devi? Whatever it is, it involves pathological lying about it.

Purvis is many things. She has claimed to be a doctor, a historian, a hobo, a political scientist, a writer, and more. Regardless, it can be safely said she has more interests that she has time or attention span to actually pursue. She is also a liar, at least in regards to herself, and takes great joy in misleading others about herself. Still, with enough observation a few facts can be worked out. She is a doctor, or at least poses as one and offers treatments to anyone on her clinic days where she will part her van outside a prominent location. It's rumored that she is CEO of a shadow corporation called Purvis Hobotech, but it never seems to produce much of anything. Still, she collects tin, plywood, hobo nickels, rusty iron rebars, and god knows what other hobo trinkets. It can be safely said she is a vagrant. She seems to be something of an intellectual, or at least poses as one well enough to fool people.

Purvis delights in practical jokes and wordplay, sometimes going to great lengths to pull one over on somebody. Typically, her japery is not malicious, but should she take a disliking to someone they can be quite mean-spirited. Though typically a staunch and loyal friend, no one is safe from her barbs and pranks, and she'll happily plot against a friend if she thinks the result will be hilarious enough. To a large degree, however, she has a fairly good sense of humor and is likely to laugh along with well-executed tomfoolery against herself. Poor-executed or outright mean-spirited japery will quickly get on her bad side to the detriment of all involved, herself included.

Despite her delight in tormenting others, Purvis can generally be considered an okay sort. She doesn't like hurting others or seeing others hurt, though she seldom has the heroic impulse to do more than say harshly-worded things against it. She is also not above taking advantage of people she finds personally unlikable unless their situation is particularly bad. She also has a deep respect for learning and well-reasoned arguments, one of the fastest ways to distract her from anything is to catch her attention with a bit of social science or literature. Despite her love of deception, she tries to maintain a rigorous honesty about such topics, and is often considered at her most tolerable in such a state. In the end, though she is often a jerk and a pest, she is seldom malicious and has no interest in perpetuating maliciousness. But she may well accidentally inspire such things in others. And in certain cases, she may make exceptions for a short time.

Purvis is chronically poor and tends to live out of her van when not staying with others. Periodically, she'll attempt various get rich quick schemes. However, should they actually work, she tends to lose the money from self indulgence and paying back debts real and imagined. Much of the time, she can be found roaming about, alternately befriending and heckling others.

She considers herself a friend of nearly everyone, often claiming odd relations with such; such as declaring Slaves to be her offspring, or Theorist her wholly-owned subsidiary.  Whether or not any of these are true is hard to tell, given her love of misleading people. Still, it's safe to say that she probably knows just about everyone in some way. Or rather, that no one is safe.

Purvis doesn't fight very often, considering combat to be foolish and counterproductive. When pressed into combat, she tends to have no qualms with fighting dirty, but it is rare that she'll continue a battle any longer than necessary unless truly enraged. She claims to possess the ability of Manipulation of Manipulation, but no one's sure what this actually means. It could be quite dangerous if she ever put it to use; but her actual bouts of combat are so rare that few ever get to see her fight at all, let alone try anything fancy.

So another addition:

What are your objectives/goals/ambitions in life?
None really, Erebus just does what she feels like. If there's something she wants she'll work to get to it no matter the cost. If not, then she'll probably eat chips while watching someone scream bloody murder after realizing their bath tub is full of blood.

Quote
Would you be interested in starting a 'disaster' or taking part in one? If yes, what sort?
Yes.

Probably starting a cult to Shinki-ism and trying to recruit more members in all the wrong ways.

Also see: Manipulation of Nightmare Fuel

Quote
Also, think about your relationships. Remember how in Touhou there are a good few families and households. Any of you interested in sorting yourselves into families/households? One good current example is Moerin's household, which consists of Moerin, his headmaid Stein, Lady's Maid Xan, and little sisters Nobu and Mode.
Dustyjo, Slowpoke to name two of her closest ones.

Now, ideas for disasters?

I have a few. I might cover more than one or two disasters in this story, since it'll be more about following characters around than the actual disasters themselves. I'm open to suggestions. Plus if you could link your characters into them it'd be a great help!

It might be for the best if there was some sort of variant or nickname of Mima-sama that would be used.

Quote
What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.

Unsure of how old she is, she's lost track after it stopped mattering. Being a ghost means age doesn't matter very much after a while.

Pretty laid back and chilled out, but many things bring a smile to her face. Her love of stupid jokes and lack of awareness can sometimes make people upset or offended without any intention. On the positive side of that she's more passive and apologetic than not so things will usually settle down very quickly unless she herself feels the other person is being truly unjust. She does have a propensity to become very passionate about some things though...

Quote
What race are you?

Ghost in the world of the living

Quote
How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-self?

Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool. Takes advantage of just about any opportunity friends offer to get out and do things or just talk. She spends most days alone, resupplying her stock of seafood, working her stand, and sticking inside her hut to read if she comes across any books. Occasionally visits the sanzu if she really wants to relax.

Quote
What do you do for a living?

Runs a little grill that sells shrimp tempura as it's main food, but other seafood is available. It's just nearby her hut but along the main road to the human village.

Quote
What are your objectives/goals/ambitions in life?

I want to be the very best. Like no one ever was. Each touhou is my real test; to beat them is my caaause!

Actually, it is to have a fulfilling undeath to compensate for such a short and unfulfilled life, she's not sure what to do so she's always up for trying new things as a way of searching for what can help accomplish this.

Quote
Would you be interested in starting a 'disaster' or taking part in one? If yes, what sort?

If it would help her to pursue something she thought could help her to feel more fulfilled she may very well take part if any terrible consequences were hidden well from her.

Quote
Who around you are related to you? In what way?

She has talks with Komachi occasionally by the sanzu on the living side when she's slacking. Mima is her hero as the most powerful ghost in the world of the living and she's been learning how to form her legs into a tail sometimes to mimic her and propagate her main seafood dish, though that doesn't always go so well.

Quote
Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?

Has a little makeshift hut between the Sanzu river and the Human Village. It's open to
people to stay the night if they have nowhere else to go, but they'd also have to be okay with staying in the company of a tailed ghost.

Quote
What sort of person are you? How would you react to a threat? A challenge? A plea for help?

Laid-back if not downright careless and tactless for some of the time. Loves bad jokes and fooling around, generally tries to make everything something that can be fun and taken lightly. There are times when she'll become very serious when there is something that comes across her mind as something she simply must do.

Depending on what the threat is to and for what reason, it will be met with extreme vigor or rather carelessly. Depending on whether it seems completely unfair or wrong or if it's completely justified.

Similar with a challenge if it is from someone she barely knows she'll back off almost immediately unless it's from a good friend, if it's from someone she's had a very bad past with or has an very low opinion of she'll get extremely vindictive and get into it solely for the purpose of crushing them as much as possible. Usually the latter won't happen though, since she likes most to anyone she meets.

Will go the extra mile help out good friends or people she likes but she tends not to get close to helping anyone she doesn't know much about or isn't at least a friend of a friend if nothing else.

I hope this is satisfactory. ???

I'm not sure exactly, there's not really much of anything else to reference off of. =P But even though we're trying to avoid direct Touhou canon connections, purely for reference puposes: the kappa equivalent of roughly 5 human years older than Nitori.

Hrm. I'm perfectly satisfied with the concept art for detail level, but I really have no clue for colors, for what that's worth. =P She probably swaps out the jacket for a longer, more lab-style coat most of the time when working though.

Quote
What race are you?
Kappa~

Quote
How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
Her primary pursuit is research, so she spends a lot of time cooped up in her chem lab and library. Certainly not to the point of being anti-social, however - most of the rest of her free time she spends out visiting people (or entertaining anyone who may choose to visit her themselves).

Quote
What do you do for a living?
Since when do we actually to work for a living in-universe? =P

I suppose there's plenty she could do with her SCIENCE!. If nothing else, it makes her a competent enough cook.

Quote
Who around you are related to you? In what way?
I'm not really sure, especially since aside from Moerin's household no particular groups seem to be forming. ^_^;;

Quote
Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
In terms of Ijiyatsu-setting regions, I'm sure we've got somewhere pleasantly warm and sunny, perhaps near a large stream/small river or lake. Maybe just on the edge of a forest too?

Her house is relatively modest, and the majority of the space inside is dedicated to a science lab. The rest is divided among a cozy library (well-stocked and furnished, but much smaller than, say, Patchouli's library in Touhou canon/fanon), an equally cozy bedroom, and a moderately-sized kitchen (though arranged to seem more spacious than it is) with a little breakfast nook. All are set up quite practically, though the non-lab spaces are also nicely decorated.

Alternately, a similar setup within someone's larger household, though in that case her own kitchen could probably be dispensed with.

Quote
What sort of person are you? How would you react to a threat? A challenge? A plea for help?
The image she projects most of the time is that of absent-minded scientist. Most of the time she's pleasant and friendly, if a little quiet and often lost in thought. She does have a moody, short-tempered streak though, and in a particularly bad mood she's liable to view anyone she considers stupid with scorn. Considering the universe she's in, it may be a good thing that in such moods she's mostly inclined to retreat into solitude, then. =P

She also relishes friendly competition, and does her best to both win and lose gracefully.

She has a taste for the finer things in life, especially as a reward if she's accomplished something or as a treat for her friends.

Threats: She won't retreat unless things look particularly grim, but will primarily defend - she's not inclined to take the offensive more than is needed to neutralize the threat.
Challenges: Bring 'em on!
Pleas for help: Her first reaction is looking around to see if someone more suitable for the task is around, but barring that, she will make an effort to resolve the problems.

Quote
What are your objectives/goals/ambitions in life?
Nothing particularly concrete, just a general accumulation of knowledge (scientific in particular, but any knowledge is nice - if I may borrow from a book series I like, her personal motto would be something along the lines of "All knowledge is worth having").

Quote
Would you be interested in starting a 'disaster' or taking part in one? If yes, what sort?
On purpose? No.

... which certainly doesn't mean she won't end up starting one anyway. It's not like Kanako was trying to cause "incidents" (as far as we know) when she was basically responsible for SA, UFO, and UNL...

Either/or.

It's Ruro's birthday.

>:3

Also, have this before I forget.

Quote
What age are you? Describe yourself a little, perhaps add details beyond what we see in the concept art.

Sakura Rurouni, "Ruro", is only seventeen years old. In the past, she was a wandering ronin who wore tattered clothing, but now that she has settled down, she has long since switched to a uniformed look, complete with YumemiCape and YamaHat.

As for personality, she is straightforward and honest to a fault-- to the point that she can feel physically sick if she perceives that she's being deceitful.

Asking her if she has any powers, she will laugh and say that her only ability is to tend flowers, if that. Unknown to her, Ruro's ability is manipulation of charisma. She doesn't consciously control it, but it does manifest itself as a subtle manipulative streak in that she can very easily bend others to her will, without either party quite realizing it. Recently, she has begun to suspect that something's wrong, but hasn't quite figured it out yet.

She had an alternate personality named Sakura Battousai ("Bato"), a remnant of her early ronin days, but has since brought together the two personalities as one. The downside of this is that she can go slightly crazy at the mere sight of blood; as a rurouni, sworn to defend humans, she's ashamed of her own blood lust, and tries to suppress that desire as best as she can.

Despite all this, she is firmly optimistic, and loves to be alive. Ruro is the sort of person who is always moving forward, who may be sad about the past, but unwilling to let it consume her. For her, tomorrow is always another opportunity to have a better life.

Quote
What race are you?
Purely human, albeit one with above-average sword skill. She used to be very fast, to the point of having "god-like speed", but an accident in the past left her with a weakness in her left leg, and she can no longer use her formidable speed in battle.

Quote
How do you envision the everyday lives of your iji-selves?
As may be implied by the name, Ruro was a wandering knight errant, who righted wrongs, saved damsels in distress, protected kittens, etc etc. But she prefers the quiet life of a housewife of sorts, staying home and tending her expansive vegetable and flower gardens, and getting to read anything she can get her hands on. She spends long hours in the outdoors.

Quote
What do you do for a living?
She has settled down as the keeper (and former Deity of) the Rurosaka Shrine, the small temple she still maintains with her household. She has a knack for cleaning things up, so she does sometimes go out with a broom and sweep everything she can.

She still has her holy sword and her skill from her ronin days, so she rents herself out as a bodyguard from time to time.

Quote
What are your objectives/goals/ambitions in life?
Ever the idealist, her goal is to save the world. As she sees it, this means preventing the death of any human she possibly can. She wants to be morally upright, so that when Shikieiki receives her spirit on the other side of the Sanzu, she will say, "Go on and have a wonderful afterlife."

A secondary goal would be to build a functioning Probability Hyperspace Vessel.

Quote
Would you be interested in starting a 'disaster' or taking part in one? If yes, what sort?
Ruro would start a disaster just to prove a moral point (usually to teach someone a lesson), so long as she was assured that no one involved would die. She usually only gets involved in a conflict when someone is being oppressed, anyway... though she has been known to be unnaturally drawn to the sight of blood, and will sometimes enter a conflict that way.

Quote
Who around you are related to you? In what way?
Everyone - Harem (unwanted)
Kanako - Fellow former deity, and good friends.
Donut - Former shrine maiden, love slave (along with Kanako)

Quote
Where do you live? What sort of place is it? Who else lives in your household?
The Rurosaka Shrine, a somewhat dilapidated temple long past its glory days. It's still a respectable place to live, though, and the expansive gardens outside are full of blossoming flowers year-round. Kanako and Donut still live there, and the Rurosaka Shrine gets enough visitors that its inhabitants never get bored.

Quote
What sort of person are you? How would you react to a threat? A challenge? A plea for help?
Threat: ?My, my. Are you sure you should be going there? I'll be sure to put flowers of rue on your gravestone!?
Challenge: ?I've grown a bit rusty... let's see if you'll wilt next to the fires of justice!?
Plea for help: ?How dare you attack someone defenseless! In the name of justice, I will punish you!?

I'm doing someone else's biography by request~

Name Zengar, the Zengar of Zengar.
Race: Human
Age: 23

Zengar is Ijiyatsu's premier swordsman, cleaver of all things evil, and generalized busybody. She is driven by a hatred of all things evil and an otherwise unsocial love of cutting things up.
She considers himself defender of the defenseless (regardless of actual ability to defend themselves), champion of goodness, and Swordguy Extraordinaire. Zengar does her best to break the world into a black and white dichotomy of Evil and Not-Evil, having learned a few painful lessons about neutrals some time ago. When she encounters evil, she will tirelessly chase it down until becoming too sleepy to carry on, then resume the chase after a good nap.

Unfortunately, cleaving evil doesn't always pay the bills, and has resulted in Zengar having a number of evictions from various apartment complexes and rented rooms. It is not that she is unwilling to pay rent, just that she is often out chasing evil to cleave when it's due. Still, generally Zengar can at least count on a couch to crash on from the many people she has helped until she can get a new place. Though she has friends everywhere, she has few that she considers true allies, having found that today's ally is often tomorrow's litterbug in need of a good cleaving. Conversely, she has few bitter enemies, as she will gladly help a wronged soul today that she personally thwarted the day before.

When not out cleaving evil, Zengar is typically chasing after the other great love of her life: Cheeseburgers. She has gained quite a reputation among outdoor grilling enthusiasts and restaurants all over Ijiyatsu as both a gourmet on the subject and a terror at parties. It is not that she is particularly gluttonous, picky, or obnoxious, but rather that she is quite exacting, spending great deals of time positioning condiments and able to spent hours talking about the particulars of cheeseburgers. In cases where the food is deemed subpar, she has been known to take control of the grill by force and apply her vast knowledge and unfortunately mediocre skills to try and improve things. She claims, when evil is no more, she shall devote her life to developing a cheeseburger like none other.

It's not known when or where Zengar really developed her intolerance of evil. Most people don't pay too much attention to her past, though those with good memories can recall a time before she found her first sword when she as was known as "Zengar who shouts "Hey!" at Evil". As for the woman himself, she seldom sees a need to bring it up, considering her upbringing humble, wholly unremarkable, and painfully humilating.

Opinions of Zengar vary from person to person and from day to day, as she has a tendency to accidentally stir up trouble while trying to stop it. Still, in general she is loved and respected by the weak and the downtrodden. Most people who know her tend regard her with a bit of caution, uncertain if they may accidentally fall into her definition of things needing to be cleaved. When things are peaceful, she is often regarded as a harbinger of trouble and cheeseburgers, while when an incident is going down she is a welcome sight.

In combat, Zengar is relentless and unwilling to surrender under any circumstances until beaten up very badly. she fights primarily with her sword, always the largest one she can find. At one time she possessed the legendary Durandal, but tossed it aside in favor of a pitted claymore she found later on. When pressed, though, she is perfectly happy to improvise and make use of whatever non-evil tools and methods she can. Though Zengar spends a fair amount of her time fighting or preparing for such, she tries not to enter into it lightly. When she does take the field, it is always in either self defense or because she is absolutely convinced of the evil in her opponent. Often times, she can be dissuaded from combat by an explanation of events, or glib words that make things seem reasonable. The rumor that she was once put off by someone misspelling evil are probably false.

Everyone suddenly has various gigantic objects in place of their arms. ...And may or may not be forced to only say "I have giant <object> instead of arms!" with varying degrees of emotion.
