Yumemi killed me once as well. She's pretty nuts at max rank, even on the lower difficulties. Don't hesitate to beat some of my other scores, by the way. I like having a reason to go back and improve them.

Didn't quite beat your score, but I felt like posting it anyway. The run had 2 deaths to Yumemi. Came very close to 30 million as well.

I think at this rate, I'll 1cc the game on Normal with all characters.

Such a horrible run. Yumemi has potential. I think I will try to get Rikako and Reimu to at least 70. Yumemi to 80, at least. I still need to get Marisa to 80 too. I'm holding off on Chiyuri for some reason, probably because I'm not good enough yet. Playing as Yumemi was good practice for spell spamming in the last two stages, at least. I'll keep playing her for a while.

Go for it. If you're interested in scoring, it may help to know that repeatedly using level 2 spells is a good idea, in case you weren't doing that already. Also, if Normal is so easy for you, you could probably beat Hard as well, at least with Yumemi or Rikako.

So close. Even Reimu has far more potential than I thought. Probably because I grew some balls and used level 2's on Chiyuri and Yumemi. Which is absurdly fun, by the way. Even if I don't end up uploading this run, I'm totally keeping it. At least the last two stages. And... I guess I shouldn't have let Mima kill me twice. She's such a nightmare though.

The Kana run was disastrous in general. For some reason I just closed the emulator as soon as the game ended. Luckily I was recording.
The Ellen run went pretty well, though I overestimated Yumemi. It's 40 million though, which is a nice score for Normal.

There are some Yumemi bullets stuck to Chiyuri. I've been noticing that happening recently. I don't know if it's just taken me this long to realize it, or if it's actually only started happening now.

1 miss. Was it good or bad? I'm not sure anymore. Would have at least been better to wait until she was near death. She was still at full health. It was my ineptitude that killed me. Clear bonus in the second round was about 6mil or something. That other Easy Chiyuri score that's 10 million lower was a no-miss run, with a clear bonus of about 9mil, but Yumemi didn't last very long and it was a bit uneventful. I think my previous notion about suicides was correct, then. Not that anyone else cares to read this. I may as well write it down for my own benefit. God knows when I'll play Easy again.

Hard - Chiyuri

Death to Chiyuri. Instant death to first round Yumemi. Accidentally won the second round. Something like 27mil after stage 6. I want to say 50mil after Chiyuri. Should've gone over the recording before trashing it.

But anyway, the highest score on each difficulty now belongs to Chiyuri. As it should be. >=]

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick. Putting it here in case I, like, die unexpectedly or something. But I'll get that 100mil. I was actually hoping to get it before the new year, but that likely won't happen. Slacked off to much with Mystic Square, etc. (And I was cowering from it, to some extent.) If I played all day now I'd probably get it (just got three 95+ runs in a few hours, after all), but I'd rather not force it like that. I'll get it eventually, depending on how my motivation waxes and wanes. In the end, I'm not playing for score.

So the last time I improved my Marisa score was... June apparently. Half a year ago. It was the highest score I had ever achieved back then. It's about time I took her out of the 70's, finally getting all non-broken characters into the 80's (or beyond).

It's much easier to read that way. I'd be willing to keep track of the code for this thread (or even PoFV as well) like Karisa has with the other PC-98 games, if that would make things easier.

Ah, thanks. Should be easy to keep it updated. And good idea about checking the early submissions. After a quick glance at the first page, I see that the very first score is actually missing.

Maybe Zengar came too close to my score. I had to do something. I was hoping for 70m, but this is perhaps a bit sexier. Early stages were meh. Kotohime and Chiyuri were decent, though Chiyuri killed me twice. Yumemi kinda had a death wish, but she still went pretty well. I think Hard has potential for at least 80m, maybe 90 with really good luck. If I could get 40m from the early game instead of 20...

Finally got the PoDD normal chiyuri 1cc I wanted. The run was pretty great in my opinion, no-missed up to Yumemi and had a pretty badass Chiyuri fight. Then only bad thing about it was being a complete retard against Yumemi and losing 3 lives. Still cleared with a spare life though, So I'll take it :V

I did another PoDD hard Chiyuri attempt.

The first stage went really bad score wise. The enemy died instantly and I barely reflected stuff. Stages 2-5 went pretty alright. Played it safe against stage 6 Marisa because I suck at fighting her. Stage 7 Kotohime went alright I guess, got reduced to half a heart really early on the match, so I had to play it safe and eventually I won. Stage 8 Chiyuri didn't go so well, died early on my first 2 lives, then I had a third life that lasted about 3 minutes where I played extremely safe and I got walled by streaming bullets, a spirit and a laser, but chiyuri died half a second before I lost another life by the wall, I got really lucky on that life, then the first life against Yumemi went pretty alright, lasted about 5 minutes but then I died by a stray white bullet. The other 2 lives I had left went horribly, got hit by a lot of dumb stuff and forgot to bomb and hyper a lot. I probably could have cleared if I had played properly on those 2 last lives. Oh well.

So the benchmark for submission, for me, is either 50 million or a 1cc at the moment. I played Chiyuri the most, she's is pretty much the best thing ever - until you get to Kotohime, that is. Kotohime makes me want to cry. Oddly enough I did not break 50 million with Chiyuri yet, and I've still only 1cc'd with two characters... But I'd rather be close to a 1cc, with a decent performance and score, than pacify for victory (which is easily doable, believe it or not. uhh... I never said anything.)

Yeah, I don't think a 1cc by itself really means anything (much), the run itself will speak its own language. That rings especially true in this game.

Well, now is my spring break, so it's about time I got back into this. (Cuz playing PoDD is totally the best way to spend a spring break.) But I'm taking it easy with Hard mode first. I was very disappointed with my performance against Yumemi in this run. No good scoring, just struggling to survive.

And I'm keeping the code updated and all that. I'm not gonna post it every time, but whenever somebody wants to paste it into the first post, just let me know.

I noticed my Marisa score was abysmal, so I went for that next. A much better run, though it still had problems. One very bad death to Chiyrui. Yumemi was okay. Not great but not terrible. Clear bonus. I wasn't sure if another suicide was a good idea. Ideally, it probably should be, but you can never trust Yumemi.
