The World God Only Knows' first episode was pretty lackluster, I felt. I'm not really that familiar with the entire magic girl genre, so maybe that has something to do with what I felt it was kind of a jarring character introduction. Someone over at Anime News Network said that this show had a lot of potential as a concept, and could have gone the way of NHK, but pretty much ruined it. I'm not sure about that. I think there's a time and a place for every genre, but I do hope the series isn't this guy going through "here's another example of how dating sims are different from real girls", over and over again. There were parts that made me laugh, and the art is good, so if the plot stays fresh, I don't see why this couldn't be a great anime.
