I think you mean Catonsville, which is on the southwest side of Baltimore.
I assume you're in the Pittsburgh area. You'll probably want to find a hotel that's right downtown, especially one that has parking. Downtown Baltimore has very little parking available that won't cost an arm and a leg. If you do stay elsewhere, try to keep it roughly due-north or south of downtown (like Towson). That way you can make use of the lightrail to get to and from the con, which is a major stop on it. Inquire with the hotel, they'll know if they're close to it. Also, if you plan to fly here, the lightrail also runs down to the airport (BWI).
If you're definitely sure you're going to come, you'll want to
preregister beforehand, because at-con registration lines can get pretty long.
Outside of that, I think it's about a 4-5 hour drive from Pittsburgh to here (I-70/PA Turnpike), so it shouldn't be too bad of a drive.
