Patchouli Crawl Run, go.
Totaku has left Patchouli overloaded. This is not a good thing, as she would be unable to go up stairs and moves slower. In fact, it may very well get you killed. Avoid this at all costs.
After dropping some rotting meat, I reduce the load to encumbered and head back up to Lair 1, to deposit some unused items.
Heading back down, into Lair 10.
Accidentally went down a trapdoor. I didn't realise I was on Lair 9 at that time, and thought it would get me down faster. Ah well.
Food is good, but a meatshield is more important at this time.
Got a pair of orcish boots. We don't have any boots, so this is a good thing. Also, amusingly enough, for all the rings we have found, we do not have a single amulet.
Why hello there.
Expecting a fight, and my health bar only slightly more than half full, I don a ring of fire and flee behind my zombie before resting.
Heading back I found my zombie intact, and no traces of the fight. The mysterious missing enemy (TM) strikes again!
Aaaaand we've cleared the Lair.
At this point I must point out that Conjurations and Fire magic should be turned off, and stay that way. They are at a decent level already, and spellcasting would be a much better skill to train since it raises the chance of casting all spells and improves MP.
We're finally out of the Lair, and back into this cozy dungeon full of things that want to kill us.
Patchouli comes across a dusty old bookstore. This bookstore is filled with expensive tomes.
Book of Power seems useful, but otherwise the bookstore doesn't have much for us to use.
The next few turns pass uneventfully, until...
I wish for a book, and...
My wish came true!
I also picked up a staff next to the scroll. We don't have a scroll of identify on us, but it seems to be a staff of necromancy. (When casting Animate Dead, Crawl shows an extra line saying 'You feel a surge of power'. This is not present when the staff is not being wielded.)
Just after writing that, I cast a spell.
Close enough.
Found a potion of mutation and a scroll of identify. Nothing too notable.
I headed down the next floor. After killing a two headed ogre and a zombie, I head upwards.
And find myself ambushed.
I teleport, and find myself in a room with two bees. I dispatch them easily enough, but am running low on magic. Then a mottled dragon bursts through the door... I teleport, but not before it breathes on me. Many scrolls were lost trying to put out that fire.
Slowly, I work my way back and kill several enemies, including a cyclops. But I eventually find myself running low on mana, and still under attack- This time, by an invisible assailant.
I use several potions, but past our only potion of heal wounds, they are useless. I then use a scroll of fear, which amusingly says 'Nothing appears to happen'. This stops the attacks, however, at least for a time.
We receive a gift!
Got another scroll of aquirement! I use it promptly, since the mottled dragon is just next door.
I finally escape this floor, going up.
And thus I end this save at 36373 turns. A little too high, yes, but I did not wish to leave the next player with the task of having to deal with a horde of strong enemies.
We are not in immediate danger, but going down is very much dangerous. Remember to use your wands if you get stuck.
