-An IE enemy will return IE if it disappears.

-When you reach a maximum IE (the base point value at the time), you can raise base point value while grazing as well for a time [PCB]
-----I suppose an equal graze-point ratio

-Dying will make you lose a fraction of your IE (and thus decrease your base point value) [PCB]

-Bombing will as well, but it will also gather all IE on the screen.

-Grazing will fill up a multiplier, while the multiplier is at max grazing will collect points and power at max value, but not IE [SA]

-Collecting below POC will gradually devalue point items

-Going above POC will collect everything at max value



I just combined SSKye's idea with PCB, SA and UFO's scoring system in a simple system with only two peripherals (Graze multiplier and IE). Huzzah.

I was thinking if the player uses a bomb or dies, the IE drops a bomb piece. Otherwise a life piece, kinda like Boss bonuses.

Another one. The name was something I pulled out of a book, but don't mind it.

There are several points, so I'll go in order.
1. The caster is stationary at the top-middle of the screen.
2. There are six large bubble-danmaku chained to the caster by more little danmaku. As you can see, three are closer to the center that the other three. They spin around the caster, the outer ones go clockwise and the inner ones go the other way. In addition, they are also shot-mounts, spamming 12 slow-moving danmaku all around them. The chain connecting them the caster varies in length throughout the spell, pulling/pushing their respective shot-mounts accordingly. However, the three closest ones all move the same distance and the three farthest do the same.
3. The caster radiates even more dakka in a pattern of 12 lines (like the face of a clock). From there you know the drill: 6 move right, and 6 go left.
4. Lastly, the caster bursts out 4 rings of fast-moving little danmaku every couple of seconds. Obviously, their spread is far more concentrated than the lines on the paper.

I'm trying to find a way to make this even harder, so I was thinking of putting in even more fire by making the 6 rotating shot-danmaku respawning Fireworks (going off simultaneously) which can also fire almost-tracking rounds every second. Also, by giving the 4 ring-formation danmaku a bounce-off-the-wall-once sort of thing, that'll spice things up. Even more upgrades include tweaking the shot-danmaku (making more, increasing rate of expansion/collapse of their chains, more fire, faster rate of fire), the danmaku direct from the caster (faster rotation, more fire, faster rate), and the ring-form danmaku (more tiers, faster speed, more shots per tier). But that's all speculation.

I originally thought there would be a problem considering people might want bombs more than lives because they're easier to gather (3 bombs per life vs two bombs per life, or whatever), but because each bomb only needs 1 piece it doesn't really matter. The real problem is that if you're collecting bombs on purpose, you would have to die/bomb to get one, which is pretty redundant. It has to be something else.

Perhaps, if you kill it before it disappears you get a bomb and your IE, and if you survive the entire thing it gives you a life piece as well as your IE. If we reduce the life pieces needed to two, then there would be a pretty even ratio of bomb-life-survival:

If normally you get two bombs after dying, then either you kill the enemy and get an entire bomb, usable immediately which means two bombs in two enemies, or you go the little extra mile to get the extra life, which is two bombs, plus a bit of extra survival in two enemies.

I was referring more to shmups in general than an isolated case like UFO

I also haven't played UFO

As discussion in the info thread reminded me (what? wasn't that the point of the thread split?), it's also possible to have two 'routes' to follow with the game, like in HrtP - you get to follow one of two routes for the rest of the game after making a choice at, like, stage 5 of 15. Possible explanation could be having a choice of who to pursue next for information after getting hints from the stage 3 boss, which leads to different stage 4/5. Or something like that.
There was something here once. Wonder what...

What I would like is for the "random enemies" to possess pools that are determined by stages, so that the player have an idea of what to expect from them. The difficulty of the enemy (bullet patterns) will be determined by what stage it is, as usual. In short, high-level characters would only have a chance in appearing at later stages (6, EX, Phantasm). Of course, each pool could extend beyond one stage, for example, a specific enemy could appear in Stages 1 through 3.


Also, in the meantime, we need people to put personality, likes, dislikes, etc into their character.

I would think that character's personally = actual forum personality.

By the way, this scoring system shouldn't be too hard to incorporate. We could just have everything related to the scoring in a separate functions+variables file and add it to each script. I can see how it should work. I've never done a scoring system of that scale before, it'll probably need a lot of CommonData, though.

Meanwhile, it's hard to work on music when you have a sinus cold. This thing sucks, I want to do more.

DJ Helepolis looks like a real bro. I know it's the wrong style of music,but would you mind if I strummed with you for just a bit?

I don't think there's anything I can say on the scoring system or anything, given that I'll be playing this on Easy or Normal, but I like the idea of letting non-boss MotK members appear through non-acquisition of Idiot Points.
