I hate to get this wrong...but isn't that the Vulcan symbol?

And non of the characters struck me truly as loltastic (setting the fact aside that the premise of the characters is always "little girl/young woman capable of destroying large armies")

I do still giggle at the Kirby hat Ran wears though...and the concepts of Utsuho (nuclear powered, super powerful, pet.) and or the good Captain (Anchors away!) amuse me to now, amongst others.

Oh, and then there is the Evil Eye Sigma Tank...

I saw the 'armless' comments long before I played SA myself but when I saw Satori in person I realized that the comments were spot on.

Also, Kaguya looks mildly fisheyed.

Add another vote for the giant catfish. That one caught me by surprise as well. Also, UNL Shanghai.

I can't think of any character that made me "lol"... Usually if I laughed it's more of a "Oh god that's so freaking awesome" kind of laugh, like with Ichirin/Unzan and the catfish.

The only character that even really got close to that kind of reaction from me was, um, Yuyuko. The first time I saw her, I found myself questioning whether she actually was the final boss or not. I mean, her artwork hardly makes her look threatening. Like, at all. Seriously, look at it:

Does this look like a final boss? All poofy blue nightdress and pink hair and Dreamcast logo hat?

Of course, then you actually see what she can do and you get more of a "HOLY CRAP!" reaction from her. The butterflies... DEAR GOD THE BUTTERFLIES!

Haha when you say it like that i did kinda felt the same way but not really in the comical sense like the way you described ahah. i was kinda like "what the hell? that's the final boss? I mean i thought it would be a ghost but i was expecting a vengeful looking ghost." and we get this cherry.....cheery happy ghost instead.

This post reminds me of that doujin that tells you how to measure your 9 level. (Screw the circle.) I think... being tricked by Yuyuko's cute appearance was among the highest 9 levels or something.
Or maybe I'm confusing everything.

Back when I was in my first week of Touhou, I hated Yuyuko's guts because I could not beat her on easy (yes, believe it or not such a time did exist). I wanted to rip her face off because that ditzy smile was kicking my ass all over the place.

I got better thankfully.

I almost forgot about Orin. It was like, WTF catgirl Wendy? Did ZUN run out of ideas and think no one would notice if he ripped off some 'obscure' american fast food icon?

I think the day I quit is when when they introduce a clown character. I almost thought Yuugi was a clown at first with her ridiculously pale skin.

Sakuya's sleeve has "Red Magic" on it, which is of course Remilia's final card on Normal. I always thought that was kind of cool.[/sakuyabias]
