>You make your way southward, finding another roadway through the statue garden to follow. It has a reasonably steady flow of traffic, and a couple of small vendors off to the side, selling various foodstuffs; most of them foreign even to you. Soon you leave them behind, and make your way toward the Avalonian Ward. The buildings here seem to feature a lot of blocky places made of stone and wood, interspersed with more exotic structures of metal and glass, and a few rude huts. Interestingly, you pick out a few kappa homes huddled around a small pond not too far from the road you're following. The people here seem to favor long gowns, though you also notice some dressed as Sir Kay and Sir Ector were, and some more like the peasants at True Glorian. Among them are a variety of other fashions, you note some traditional clothing here and there, and some of the brightly colored cottons from around Nue's tea house. The youkai here, in particular, seem to favor silken gowns; many of them have various kinds of insect-like wings and a particularly noble bearing that Mistress would be proud of. You even note a few small faeries flitting around here and there.

>Approach someone who doesn't appear to be particurlarly busy.

>There are a few people you can see that don't seem busy. One is a person hanging around outside a cooper's shop, a woman wearing a curious hood that covers her neck as much as her face, and drapes down to a kind of leathery capelet. Another is a person who...seems to be human, who is just browsing an outdoor stall, but something about her seems off and convincing you she is a youkai. She wears a heavy coat with a fur-lined hood, currently pulled down, with animal teeth dangling from the sides like tassels. A youkai in a gossamer gown with dragonfly wings lingers near a post, apparently lost in through. Her hair is curiously upswept. Finally, you do not a few faeries playing on a rooftop, their clothing western.

>The woman snorts in a way that simply screams "travelers", or possibly "foreigners". "You take this road down to the smithy and make a right. Follow that road to raven Seelie house, it's a tall one with all the balconies, can't miss it, and take the road that goes off southeast from it, right? That'll drop you right in Cullenwell. After that, you're just looking for the big house, easy peasy."

>You make your way down the road. Few of the signs here are in any language you know, but some do hold words that are familiar-looking, if not familiar. You think you've seen their like in various book titles in the library, or perhaps on some artworks in the galleries. Still, you aren't in any position to derive much meaning from them.
>You almost miss the smithy, in fact, as it is unlike any smithy you've seen. The front is simply glass, and inside you can see several people scurrying around large machines; one of them pouring out molten metal. You also note that the street is question is mostly blocked by an overturned cart and a large...something you can't identify. Cabbages are scattered all over the cobblestones. A small kappa with hair dyed bright orange is loudly arguing with robed, bat-winged youkai wearing a skullcap.

>It looks like...a lion statue, made of wood and cloth? And it seems to have a large split along its torso.
>The bat-winged youkai is a tall, red-haired woman with a round face and a wide mouth, currently quite passionately arguing with the much shorter kappa. You notice a tail peeking out from under her robe, every so often. You can't tell much about it, but it doesn't seem to have any hair on it.
