So kancolle kai just got released. Any footage?
There has been lots of people who have been streaming it.
I hope you got a Nico Nico account, cause you're going to need it!
Here's what I can summarize about early game play in a nutshell:
1. The game can be summarized as
"Kancolle Lite" or
"Kancolle for the busy person who doesn't have enough time to play a browser game."2. You're mainly taking fleets out into waters and you start out in the Naval Base Waters much like the orginal game itself. You'll need to fight off abyssals to expand outside of the base waters and explore locations further outward.
3. You have to keep the waters in check because Abyssals Fleet
CAN and WILL try to reclaim them. (The hex will change gradually from white to yellow, to red.
4. If the Hex goes red, Abyssals fleets will be attempting to reclaim said waters, you'll need to use what fleet you have there to launch a counter attack to stop thier attack. If you successfully drive them away, you'll prevent them from claiming the area.
5. Alternative ways to keep the waters in check is to constantly sortie in waters.
6. Combat looks awfully cheap looking in appearance due to the 2D Cut outs on 3D waters. But in some sense you have some degree of control over what you kanmusus do in battle. You can focus on using guns, toredoes, planes, ect. So if you prioritize on only guns, your kanmusus will fire, but won't launch torpedoes. Combat mechanics are definetly different to the browser in some degree.
7. You can skip battle sequences.... and by that I mean litterally just jump to the results upon the engaging an enemy unit.
8. You can manage up to 12 fleets.. and you WILL be using them all.
9. Everything in the game has been changed to turn base (turns are marked as weeks). This includes construction, repairs, expeditions, and so forth.
10. There is
Fleet Practice much like the original game. But since this game is a single player game, it's not PVP based. Instead you use your other fleet members to engage in Naval Practice.
11. There is a
Fleet Drill which serves as an alternative to Practice, where your kanmusus can take a turn practicing firing thier augments. This will allow them to gain exp and boost some stats.
12. Each fleet has thier own office which can be customized.
13. Kanmusus in 2Dlive are kinda simple, but cute to see animated. Thank goodness they did not go overboard with it.
14. There are 4 difficulties in the game Easy, Normal, Hard, and
Historical which I can assume is the equivalent to Touhou's Lunatic mode.
15.
Iowa is confirmed to be the USN Kanmusus to appear in the game, but she will not appear likely till
New Game + As of current, no one has made it that far...
16. Exp gain is very huge in this game. You can level up Kanmusus rather quick.
17. There is still furniture, coin boxes, and the premium shop and quests much like Kantai Collection.
18. Preimum shop is drastically different in this game due to being a single player game. During your game, as you capture locations or fend off Abyssal Fleets you'll gain
"Strategic Points" which act as you equivalant to D
MM point currency to buy things like construction slots and repair slots.
19. Additional slots for Construction and repair are really important since you racing against the Abyssal fleets.
20. Plane animation during Carrier fights look really nice.
21. Think of this as
"Kancolle: The Strategy Simulation Game"I still have yet to see anyone get Akashi so I don't know how her workshop works though I know it exists. And I know that
SOME event inspired waters are within the game including
AL/ MI and
Operation FS.
Outside of that it's just going to be a waiting game since it's going to take some time before someone beats the game first. Under my personal opinion, this is the kind of game I recommend to someone who isn't into playing the browser game, but still want to try something equivalent to it that they can play at thier own pace. It can in turn get them hooked. It's kind of a way to introduce players to the Kancolle franchise outside of the internet. For the veteran admirals out there. I'm not sure it has much to offer, but if you're looking to play the same game with a twist thrown in...or want to desperately see Iowa badly... then you might want to take a look at this game.
