I beat Shinki with one 2hu :V (yes, she was hundred)
And I'm wondering, why my computer instead of making the game run in Japanese it runs in some strange and stupid mess of characters. Anyone know how to prevent it? (I tried running it in Japanese locale program, but then game just shows the black screen sometimes flashing blue square at the bottom of the screen). I have Win 8.1, if that's important.

I run 8.1 but I have my region set to Japan and I run it normally without applocal. You may need to go into your language settings and download a Japanese language pack to have it display Japanese.

I'll try it.

Reisen is pretty good, but she's sucks against sound poppets. Like every illusion puppet.
I also caught Mystia and I'm on the way to Bamboo Forest now, where I'll catch rest of my team (Mokou, Kaguya and Eirin).

Don't know. Merlin did level up fast. Koishi has the item from Kanako... Hatate was my starter. I simply don't know how I reached such high levels before Shinki...

My Mai also got level 100 before Shinki. I didn't skip wild battles until late in game and I used her a lot. My Nazrin was also pretty high-leveled. Other 2hus were pretty new and had much lower level than this two (I constantly changed my team)

I'm more worried about over leveling my party...

I entered Chireiden recently and every time I get a new party member that I want, they're always 20ish levels below my weakest party member (who is 8 or so levels below the strongest). And then I grind, and suddenly, I'm over leveled.

Okay I hate Kanako.
Her Speed Suwako can one shot half of my party. I really wanted her level-boosting item, my poor Toyohime is underleveled comparing to rest of my party...

Edit: I attemted second time and it wasn't all that hard. I just le stupidly die my party instead of doing something to kill that damn Suwako...

Edit2: Mystia is the best! She has nice attacks, level-ups pretty fast, is fast herself and has nice type combo. You can also catch her pretty early in game.

Just a heads up: a partial (functional) patch for version 1.18 was let loose a few days ago. With this most all gameplay-related assets are translated, while flavor text (story, etc) will have to wait for the full translation. Needless to say this makes the game a good deal more enjoyable!
The easiest way to get this working would be to rename your old .dat folder and move the downloaded .dat into the Touhou Puppet Dance Performance folder. Don't delete the old one- you need it for future patching.

Yeah, overleveling is a problem. Because of the built-in experience share system every time you get a new member up to speed you end up overleveled, and this compounds with each new addition.
Also it's worth mentioning that 80 cost puppets are fairly ridiculous: for the experience it takes to bring a 120 cost puppet to lvl 50 you could have an 80 cost puppet nearing 62, and many of them are very potent in spite of the overall lower BST (cough cough Power Kana). If you want to see the exp data for yourself check out this link.

Once the full translation hits I'll probably start a new run myself and switch out all main members when raising new ones. I'll also probably avoid 80 cost puppets to keep the challenge right.

The patch doesn't seem to work if you've patched to version 1.19. I just get an error when I start the game.

EDIT: Figured out how to get it to keep a backup of 1.18, so I just swapped out the .exe and it works properly now. :V

However, for the exact same reason it's never necessary to raise new puppets at all: just leave 'em in the back row while you go on with the game and they'll catch up soon enough. Stopping to raise them is the sole source of your problem. I was even bringing level 1 reincarnated puppets to the post-game bonus bosses.

Oh, that was easy. I changed my unicode to Japanese and reinstalled the game. I play mostly Japanese games, so I'm fine with that. ALso thanks to that, pathes finally worked and I have version 1.19 now. Now I'm waiting for English patch.

Edit: Okay Reimu's cheating. Her freaking Aya ALWAYS hits me five times. That's bullshit!
