GOOD MORNING FRIENDS

Who am I seeing and where today I think I'm losing my husband to Artemis again soooooo
Goooood morniiiiing~!

Absolutely no idea what's gonna go on myself other than the Protomen later.  Gotta raid the dealers' room, I know that much.  Though there isnt as much there that I'd want as previous years.  Oh well, save money I suppose.

Will probably find myself hanging out in the arcade or something a lot most of the day like usual unless me and my other friends who I'm rooming with find stuff we all wanna do before the evening.

EP you too man, saw a group of Payday cosplayers but none of them looked like you. #pleaserespond
I saw them on Fri but that was when I was in Spy suit.

Plenty of parties and pizza yesterday made it a great day - but alas! I had to depart this morning back to normality :<

Either way it was a fantastic weekend and I hope to see you all again at another time!

Seems I got it too....

Yeah...I counted at least 5 drinks over at the IRC party suite, maybe more. MJP and I were a bit concerned, but at least things did not go too far at that time :V

Got my pic taken by some of the mostime unexpected people today.

Already recovering from it here thanks to snoozing on most of my ride back, as well as plenty of acai and orange juice.

Now that I am back, it is off to catalogue and maybe sketch my experiences....

Our plans have shifted dramatically because of an apparent approaching wall of doom. We're at Aniki's with nothing but packing left to do and even that's alost done. We will be ready to go at about 5 tomorrow morning.

And with a foot and a half of snow in our future we'll be heading out shortly.

Lots of fun! Except I have most certainly been hit with con plague, my voice sounds like I've been chain smoking for 40 years and all I want to do is sleep until Wednesday.

But hot damn do I love this con.

We're about to check out of our room so once they grab our luggage to hold onto I'll be at the arcade and see what rhythm games they haven't brought in yet, so if you want a final chance to find me, this would be the best time. I'm wearing a white sweater with some navy blue and red outline. I'm the latino with black hair :V

id say MAGFest went mostly well...until today when my flight arrived half an hour late and the bus I was to take was not in fct connected to the airport so now I get to be stuck in the bus terminal in Buffalo(went anyway to see if I could find another time to get where I wanted) til someone can collect me or something.

Joy of joys, lemme tell ya.

Crisis averted, got money sent over to me thanks to Western Union so I can take the bus to Olean(a town only like 20mins away from home) and get picked up there.

Buffalo is like 2, 2.5 hours of driving, I believe.

Back up in your ass with the resurrection
It's the group harder than an erection
That shows more affection
They wanna ban us on Capital Hill
Cause its die muthafuckas, die muthafuckas still

Or for the unimaginative: http://youtubedoubler.com/?video1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DGm0HdQD3yTk&start1=&video2=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DeF8c3BjFWsw&start2=&authorName=MJP

MAGfest did not nearly have enough table flipping, Artemis and Starship Horizons to satisfy me.  I spent a lot of time just walking around and stuff, didn't really go into any concerts, and I probably won't be back next year but it was still enjoyably spent.

Big ups to all the people I finally put names to faces to.

Home safe and back at work.  Heading south means we missed all winter weather lolol

Good things:
  • Barcardi Gold
  • Neon FM (surprisingly enjoyable[finally got to play Girlz Buttz{*clap*}])
  • Seeing cool internet people
  • Long overdue conversations with cool internet people

Bad things:
  • Gosling's Black Seal 151 fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
  • Lack of inexpensive places to eat in walking distance
  • Gaylord not having their shit together wrt paying for parking on Monday early afternoon
  • Honestly, MAGFest in general

This was my first MAGFest and in all likelihood will also be my last.  None of the panels interested me, I didn't care for nearly all the music/artists at the con, and I'm really not a gamer.  It was cool to meet internet people but I could see them all at different anime cons.  Of course, none of this is set in stone.

:( :( :( :(

I wound up a fan of 3 bands I never expected to like, willfully damaged my hearing for MAXIMUM ROCK EXPERIENCE, played through probably 10 arcade games with both close friends and total strangers, went out for meals with a group of 6 or greater no less than 5 times, socialized with old acquaintances and brand new friends, drank some lolita, viewed some crazy indie games, got some plaudits for successfully managing the room situation, was awarded some props to my trapping skills for the first time ever, had my picture taken in costume with everyone from hardcore Touhou nerds to a pair of Muslim ladies with a kid in tow, got some awesome stuff that I always wanted, and came away with and something that'll net me a karma point from a friend, and got 600 streetpasses. :V. Hell, I even had a very normal non-threatening moment with someone I typically avoid for good reason. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the funk emanating from the suite across the hall.

In your case, however, it's too bad that it didn't work out. But if it just wasn't your pace, no point in trying to make things fit.

Welcome to National Harbour! The problem repeats itself in Katsu too. :\

Aww. :( Well Mag has quite the different focus from most anim? cons, so it's definitely an understandable opinion.

Hm..anyways, let's see here....

Awesome things:
  • Loads of lovely meetings and conversations with you lovely bunch! Considering most of my contacts are rather far-out, this alone made the entire trip worthwhile.
  • Getting positive commentary on the silly improvised cosplay from earlier, including photo requests (eg. "Planning a heist I see", "I must say, that mask scares me....:P", "Hey, Kokoro, why are you wearing pants instead of the skirt? :V")
  • Finally playing through 6-player X-Men while the machine worked fully (insert Colossus yell here)
  • Loads of lovely STG madness at the arcade. All the Cave and Raizing games with a side of Parodius, always fun.
  • Plenty more vintage computers this time! :D
  • Booze. Even though I'm not a heavy drinker.
  • Machinae Supremacy concert was neat
Perhaps this could be better....
  • Not too many things interesting in the con programming this time around. Maybe I am spoiled by Magfest 11's dual Koshiro-H?lsbeck madness (which was absolutely fantastic), but this time I found things lacking aside from the concert.
  • Con plague
  • RIP wallet, thanks National Harbour prices
  • The freaking schedule this year >:(
  • Missing my chance to get an official ENTRY DENIED slip from MJP the Arstotzkan Customs Official :<
  • Having to leave a day early >_<

Pros:
-Finally got to hang out with someone who me and my group-of-friends-who-go-to-MAGFest wated to meet in person for the past few years
-Meeting some of you MotKers properly, even if just for a bit
-Concerts, my favorites being the Powerglove and Protomen ones, though in the end all the ones I went to were really good to me.

Cons:
-Needing to work on social ability still
-Forgetting to eat until only the expensive places are open
-NOT BEING IN THE GAYLORD oh man this was such a pain for so many reasons.  Pretty much right after they have MAGFest 14's dates lined up we're gonna be reserving.  Not EVEN gonna deal with that crap again.  (Although to be fair the Red Roof Inn's room was pretty good for being so cheap.)
-Transportation woes upon trying to get back home

All in all, a satisfying experience.  Definitely liked being a Supporter, too; if I can I will probably keep doing so, or at least every other year or something.

Had some extra photos to share even if I'm not a shutterbug:

Nice pretty view of the ferris wheel from the hotel room~

I put somewhere on the order of a few hundred hours into this game over the years and never managed to find an official copy until now. Never really had any means of getting my hands on one. The vindication is so sweet. Yes, the instruction booklet is wonderfully detailed and reeks like musty 20 year old paper that was sealed away from the start.

A friend's badge number produced a most fortuitous number.

THE LEGEND NEVER DIES

OH YEAH

The end of the Bit Brigade concert...

And the rest of the crowd. The place is as big as a football field and I can't really tell how far back the crowd goes.

Best con experience I've had in a long time. See you guys next year.

It went Hella Back, I am told they hit whatever they deemed capacity and had to implement one in, one out.
BUT SO GOOD AHHHHHH

They're putting up a survey for potential dates for next year, one of them being the weekend after Katsucon welp if that happens I know which I'm picking!

It went Hella Back,
I am confused and angered by this unit of measurement. Still, the fact that the room of that size that open with that high a ceiling with that many doors was deemed one person shy of a fire hazard is a feat unto itself.

Voted for January 7th-10th next year since so many people had to keep away for schooling this year. Also MAGFest + Katsu back to back will be too rough on some people. ALSO it's super easy for me to get PTO the week after the Christmas and New Year's rush for gobs of time off has ended.
