I want to pull hard for the Netherlands to take this today because I've historically loathed Argentina's approach to the game (in the same way I loathe Italy's) but Messi is basically the anti-Argentina so I have a hard time rooting against him.

Really, now that Brazil is out, I'm happy with any of the three remaining teams.

Iceland is crawling with Dutchies and their pale gangly limbs, beer breath and ridiculous orange everything. Win or lose, we will have to deal with their phlegmy howling.

I am pulling for Argentina. They've been fun to watch, and I think the Dutch are getting tired, but I also honestly wouldn't be surprised if they gave this one their all. Should be an entertaining game either way.

*sniffles* ZUN made me go emotional with those words... ;-;
In the "delicious tears, I will sleep well tonight" way, not the "my sympathies" way.

That's what I meant. Sorry could not reply before, was sleeping :V

But anyway, I'm looking forward for today's game too.

EDIT: Also, I forgot to mention, but there's a bookstore in S?o Paulo that promised a 10% discount on every book for each goal Brasil would take from Deutschland.

Guess what? Their site is still offline since yesterday from so many people trying to buy books from there. 70% discount is a HUGE discount after all. This is simply hilarious.

This sounds familiar. Anyone remember that Simpsons episode where a free Krusty Burger was promised for every gold medal the US won at the 1984 Summer Olympics (where, it turns out, there was an even bigger sweep)? I can still see Krusty's tear-choked shouting: "I WILL PERSONALLY SPIT IN EVERY TENTH BURGER!"

Lesson learned: Capitalize on major sporting events; just don't gamble your business on final outcomes.

Google Search Mainpage:

#BRAvGER was the most tweeted sporting event ever (35.6 million tweets)

ZDF (German broadcaster of the game yesterday) got a new viewing rating record of 32,57 million viewers (87,8%) during the game yesterday.

Mediamarkt, a large electronic store all over NL, has promised that people who buy a TV during WC will get their money back if NL becomes world champion. Well then.

Well at least it sounds like a better idea to bet on your own team rather than against like the bookstore :V

The brilliant thing about this is that Mediamarkt loses no money on this either way. At best, they sell a shitload of TVS. At worst, they have to return that money, but I reckon that somewhere less than 100% of those who bought a TV from there today won't bother getting the refund.

E: Er, unless by refund they mean folks get to keep the TVs. Still, a nice bit of wagering.

Game is hard.

Argentina full lockdown mid-field. Robben, Persie, Sneijder are perma-deffed by minimum of 2. Same thing NL applies for Messi, but with minimum of 3 if possible. Persie also is not 100%. He's not present on the field. News sources said he had aches/pain but it seems his performance is really degraded by this.

Both teams seem stressful but Argentina has reached our goal dozen of times and we only twice? orzzzzzzzzz

Holland is tired, I think, while Argentina's making some respectable if miscalculated attempts at a goal. Holland has a great defense and can get upfield, they just need to wake up once they get there.

Yea I've seen lots of tired faces on some key players like Kuyt and BMI. BMI even held his knees for a moment when the whistle blew. Worse part is, even if we win, Germany had 1 extra day to rest compared to NL.
