Jeez. Brazil has looked overwhelmingly unimpressive in two games, and both Spain and Portugal seem destined for dead last in their groups. If there was ever a tournament for Germany or Holland to walk away with, it's really looking like this one.

Well, this game happened.

A glorious humiliating defeat for Spain.

Here's to hoping Portugal gets the same treatment!

Nice! Chile never fell apart like Australia did and retained control throughout the entire game. A fine, clean win.

Conqueror, that really cracked me up!  :] :]

Spain..... wow, this must be the first time in 8 YEARS that i feel sorry for them! What a disaster.... (i'm still smiling like a loon about their elimination but having suffered the same fate in 2010 we know how it feels :-/)

Kudos to Chile, they played like devils for the entire match!

They were wasting time on purpose near the end even when spain had given up a long time ago. That fake goalie injury comes to mind. Team went straight on my shit list after that. Hope they fall off as soon as possible.

That's basically a lot of teams when they're winning with the game near the end. I mean why wouldn't you? Welcome to football :V

Also, dat celebratory salsa dance after the Columbia goal.

Because it's unsportsmanlike as fuck?
I've watched most of the games so far and there was no instance of this as blatant as Chile's was.

But it's fine, they'll get eliminated by the first competent team they come across anyway.

I noticed maybe small instances of that and I usually get ticked off when an entire team decides to be a big dong about things, so I dunno. What I do remember I lump with what, like, 90% of teams do, because 90% of teams do it.

Apparently the skipper of the Uruguay team can slam his arm into our player's throat in full view of the ref and assistant ref and not get a 2nd yellow.

And yeah I like; only watch footy during England WC games.

It's like American football where they run out the clock by going on their knee to run out the game. Of course, getting more goals is good for insurance, but safety is always first :V Besides, football is that one sport where time never runs out so of course anyone would take advantage of that.

I'm sure Spain preferred them passing the ball around anyways instead of getting humiliated 5-0 once again.

Also Chile is a competent team, they've always been a pretty decent team. They're weakness is just that they aren't too physical because they focus mostly on the technical skills like most South American teams and Spain does. Of course, that'd only go so far :V

Wait, what is being called "unsportsmanship" exactly? I agree that pretending you're hurt is simply wrong, but trying to run the clock down by passing the ball around is a perfectly valid way of controlling the match. When faced with such tactics, you need to apply aggressive pressing and recover the ball which allows you to perform a quick, killer attack against a surprised and temporarily disorganized enemy. If you can't do that, you're simply the worse team.

We had a guy get knocked clean out and while he should be going to hospital to be checked for concussion he's back on the pitch.

As in; he was twitching on the ground levels of out.

Running the clock down is irritating but in small doses it's manageable and it's an understandable strategy.

Divers on the other hand can all go die in a fire.

Remember how everyone hated Suarez for that infamous hand ball save in the last world cup? :V

Well I'm sure people still hate him for that, but he's playing on an injury, I have great respect for him.

2 games down, two 2-1 defeats.

England have no chance of making it through with how they've been so far. And I'll do some stupid a** dance and post it in here if they some how fluke through~

Let's see if Japan can do better~ XD

I'm predicting a pretty safe 9-3-3-3 for this group. Someone remind me how this works? Are goal differences the tiebreaker?
