Yes, many of the localized names were ill-thought out.

And there's been complex designs and simple designs in every generation of Pokemon.

Your Garbador argument could just as well be an Exeggcute argument. What on earth were they thinking? We just didn't care because we were like 10

I still haven't gotten back to catching a Metang in Black.

Catch Rates of 3 suck

Woobat's Japanese name, コロモリ (Koromori) is an amalgam of the Japanese words Kokoro (心 [ココロ] or Heart) and Koumori (蝙蝠 [コウモリ] or Bat)

You can blame the localizations for that name.

Woobat and Swoobat actually make sense to me.  To "woo" someone is to try and win their heart.  "Swooning" is another way of saying you've fallen in love with something.  Love... Heart... you guys get it.

You really can't expect everything to translate over very well, just like how some jokes don't make sense outside their places of origin.

And come on... at least it isn't "Showers".

Been there, done that.

Went through ~70 balls and destroyed my party with Agility + Meteor Mash attack gains.

I'm still scarred.

Fuck Metang. Worse than Beldum in DPP's sandstorm place in the post-game area. And that had a catch rate of 3 too.

Fair enough, doesn't really affect me much, I was just saying that if people really hate the names that much they know who to blame. I've never touched a Pokemon game in English barring Yellow and Gold anyways.

I wonder what the music of B2 and W2 will be like.

Same region? Same music! Hahahahaha~

And if there aren't battles in excess of level 85 then I will be upset.
I was pretty surprised that the Champion has one at 77 in the first games- why not pump that up, huh?

The original fifth generation (what a funny statement) was already one of the more infuriatingly difficult for me, so why not cater to the more hardcore crowd with this one?

Atlus should co-develop! :V

I don't know :/

Several of the gyms flattened me a couple of times (like, haha, lenora) and the Elite Four took me a good three or four tries.

Also, Ghetsis. Five tries, and that fucking hydreigon
That thing was equipped to sweep over half my team and it did

I dunno, I thought Johto was the easiest region to go through, barring Claire and possibly Whitney. With Unova, a few trouble spots for me were Lenora, Elesa, Drayden/Iris, Marshal, and the final two battles. Though I blame the fact that half of my four-'mon team was Route 1 Normal-types. >_>

Personally, thought 5th gen was quite easy. Then again, i did have a Haxorus on my team. :P

Anyways, i'm still really looking forward to the 2nd 5th gen. I just with that there were a little more info though.

Unova was kind of weird. The second gym was annoying but aside from that things were fine. Elite Four is moderately tough but nothing to write home about.

Pokemon should never be "hard", since it's designed to be an easy game, and RPGs are always as hard as they are designed to be. "Harder than usual", maybe.

Easiest game is Johto or Hoenn. Kanto is a huge 'nope', haven't played DPP in ages so I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure it wasn't specially easy.

Lenora isn't hard at all, especially if you listen to what everyone and their Lillipup tells you about there being fighting Pokemon to catch on the next route. >.>  I'm currently going through a new playthrough on White and my Throh pretty much one-monned her entire gym.

...Did Europe, like, get the easy-type version of the game or something?  Or is this just my long experiences with RPGs combined with the almost zen-like tranquility level grinding gives me finally paying off?  Hmmm/

Nah, Lenora's just easy if you grab a fighting-type.

The only gyms that gave me any trouble were 3 and 6, and I was screwing around rather than typing to beat them.  B&W, like all pokemon games, weren't terribly hard.

It's Pokemon. You're supposed to ram through gyms without thinking.

When you're expected to go to future routes to find good mons (which is obviously an impossibly complicated RPG skill), you know the game just became harder than it's supposed to be.

By the way, fighting types won't save you from STAB Take Down. Unless you grinded a bit, which ALSO something un-Pokemon-like.

...You can also catch Roggenrolla during the previous route, which is resistant to pretty much all of her attacks.  Her Herdier is weaksauce and goes down in, like, two or three hits, and the only thing you really need to watch out for is Watchog's Retaliate.  I'm... Honestly surprised that she's apparently seen as one of the hardest battles in the game.

And grinding?  Un-Pokemon-like?  Um... Now I know we're definitely not playing the same game here. >.>  Especially the part about not thinking, seeing how you're constantly told to think about type match-ups and the like.  Throughout the entire series, not just in B&W. <.<

If by Pokemon games you mean Gen1 and Gen2, yes. Maybe Advance too if you're really lenient, but it's almost impossible to get away with doing that in Gen4 and Gen5 unless you go out of your way to grind. In fact, the only reason why I found B&W reasonably difficult was because I was underlevelled for the initial Elite 4 (minus Champion) series of fights, and I had relatively underpowered Pokemon as well, except Gigalith and Serperior. Note that I played the Japanese version too on release so I didn't have any background knowledge on what I was facing.

It is nice to see that you are trying to dodge a perfectly valid counterpoint though :V

The thing that struck me as difficult in B+W over the others was that grinding actually tended to be tough. Compared to other games, you really have to start looking at type advantages very early on, and some Pokemon were simply not trainable in certain areas. Routes/dungeons/etc were more difficult than I remember other games being because of this.

Maybe that's just me; I did, after all, try and train almost everything I caught rather than sticking with six(dropped that 2/3 of the way through the game). When those Blitzles started showing up, though... ugh.

I beat b/w in under a week :/ It was really easy for me...but I've been a pokenerd since 12...

Then again, getting a Fighting type in the beginning of the game makes it really easy to beat half the trainers you end up fighting against. Almost everyone has a normal type.

I don't think I'll want to play b/w 2 unless it seriously changes things. I'm sick of beating 8 gyms/E4 over and over. Hopefully, because this is a sequel, maybe you will just start off from your house with everything beat, and you can just transfer your Pokemon without any hassle?

I suppose that's just wishful thinking. Nintendo and Gamefreak probably are swimming in cash from their, "challenge everything AGAIN and then some" gimmick.

But you know I'll just buy it regardless of what they do with it.

Hoenn is definitely included in this "breeze through the game" club.

I could honestly believe this, since the last time I played like that (the head-in-wall way) was before Gen 4 started.

It is nice to see that you are trying to dodge a perfectly valid counterpoint though :V

Yeah. The difference between Black Kyurem and White Kyurem is amazing.

As in, White Kyurem is butt ugly, and so is its boxart. :V

But the black one looks slightly less so.  So that'll probably be the one I pick up first.
