"Are you on any anime-related mailing lists?" - I suppose this and forums are very much the same, forums being the successors of mailing lists... Still, Touhou =/= anime, even though it is from Japan and inspired fanmade episodes of anime... Well, let's say that it counts.

Self-diagnosis: 0 out of 10 on otaku scale. I hardly ever watch animu or read mango. I even got tired of Touhou for the time being and mostly spend time on these forums reading stuff in Shrinemaiden Cafe or playing Minecraft with the fellow maidens in my free time when I am not banned for griefing.

Test diagnosis: core corruption at 11.5 per cent. Peculiarity at 14%.

@Desu_Cake quiz:  33 (and growing).  Lower(slightly) than I'd expected, but money's a large part of a number of those questions, something I'm, shall we say...not exactly full of usually.

83 questions is tough to divide up by scoring, but how about:

0-11: Blissfully Unaware. You remember someone mentioning Pok?mon years ago, and thought it was a type of pasta.
12-23: The Edge Case. "I used to really like mecha when I was a kid." Probably has one working console, and an older one in the basement.
24-35: Casual Friday. Has weekly game time. Watches a couple series on streaming sites. Went to a con a couple years back, didn't buy anything.
36-47: My Hobbies Are Just Different. Likely has a favorite series, game, female character in an anime, and character in a video game. Visits local cons. Food becoming more microwavable.
48-59: Let Me Tell You Something About Precure. Follows a number of series, visits gaming boards, flies to cons. Not online most of the time yet.
60-71: Valkyrie Dwarf Has Ascended! Runs an anime blog, hosts a game server, can be found online on any number of IM clients and IRC channels. More myth than man.
72-83: So Long, Suckers. Lives in Japan, runs a doujin group that moves tremendous units at Comiket. Is interviewed by local media for his opinions on otaku culture, which are in turn quoted on thousands of blogs. Wins the little-known Nobel Prize for Eroge. Lives in a penthouse suite on top of a major hotel in downtown Tokyo, where maids serve him peeled grapes while a top manga artist sits in the corner, drawing and writing everything he sees.

Incidentally, I went to Comiket a couple of years back and I don't think I bought much there!

Whoa, that test is incredibly old.  I thought OverCoat only shared it with me to make fun of how old I am.  I had to explain what Ani Mayhem was for him.

I used to be way more of an otaku than I am today.  I had my VHS tapes, I went to various cons and even hosted a radio show centered around jpop/rock/anime music.  Once I stopped doing the show, I lost interest because I had no one to share my hobby with.  This is changing however (I'm posting here).

I took the other test and got a 31.

your score was: 67

DESU_cake's test is.... well, strangely pinching on me.
on the question with how much spent on anime/etc I put down 12, because over the years I estimated to have spend well over 3000 or more on such things.

there is only one problem:
60-71: Valkyrie Dwarf Has Ascended! Runs an anime blog, hosts a game server, can be found online on any number of IM clients and IRC channels. More myth than man.
I don't really run an anime blog but I have a general blog. What are game servers? lol IM clients, my skype hasn't been on in ages, IRC yes.

I am much closer to 48-59: Let Me Tell You Something About Precure. Follows a number of series, visits gaming boards, flies to cons. Not online most of the time yet.
I certainly am this one actually, but I think I manage my time pretty damn well most of the time. Though when I catch up, I often abuse said time management.

---

So I propose to add these questions:

84: If you lack time to watch something today, or play games today, would you catch up the next day?
85: How long do you tend to catch up on? > 3 hours > 5 hours > 10 hours? (+1 for every increment of double the previous number)
86: Do you currently use an anime wallpaper?
87: Does all your devices have anime wallpapers/themes/ringtones/songs?
88: Do you actively tell people what song that is playing (if it is anime/Jrock/Jpop?
89: Do you play Rhythm games and listen to Eurotrash?
90: You think dancing is the same as Para Para Sakura and Rhythm games are just a means for you to get on 'So you think you can dance' Season xwhatever.
91: You have a tendency to eat and watch anime at the same time.
92: Given a chance, you would wear proudly your anime merchandises (Cat ears, anime T shirts) to anywhere, including but not limited to workplace/college/social gatherings.
93: If parents give you money, the first thing you think of is what sort of anime / merchandise / game to buy.
94: Actively expect friends/family to buy games/anime/merchandise as gifts for Xmas/new years/etc
95: You LARP regularly in front of the mirror in the bathroom, likely while wrap in a towel and still wet from the shower.
96: You have had whole night long sessions of marathoning a series or a game.
97: You still LARP while no one is watching, in public places.
98: At some point you have tried using charms and pick up lines from anime and games on real girls/guys that you tried to hit on (and failed/succeeded) (Success -10 points/failed +1)
99: You condition your hair so you probably look like an anime character with thick bunches of hair.
100: In most cases, while listening to a Jpop/Jrock/Anime song you tend to sing to it despite not really knowing the lyrics or what they mean.
101: You took this test and realized your despair (+0 points)

Yeah, I just sorta banged out that scoring on a half-joking whim. If you want to take it up to 100 questions, I could adjust the scores accordingly.

My friend is a 8/10. He constantly talks about anime and how I should draw, "Naruto" and "Sonic" shit. But of course, my rating is a low 3/10. Not that much into Anime. I only watch a few animes( 2-3 ) but never talk about it. I wanted to get figurines but mom won't let me. Also, I read a few mangas, liked it, but that's every 2 months or so. Does this mean I'm a failure?

EDIT: Actually, I'm a 3.8

25 on the first 83 questions on this new quiz, 28 overall. For questions 46-50, I simply substituted 'doujin' with 'Touhou' .

72. Do you ever view real-life events as though they were part of an anime?
73. Do you ever wish you lived inside an anime/manga/game?
Wait a minute -- I'm not in an anime?!?  :o

101: You took this test and realized your despair (+0 points)

With Desu_Cake's test, I got a 70. Mainly because I got 18 points off of question 25. Including AF's additional questions, my total came out to be 81.

Wow, a completely different result than the previous quiz.

I'm a numberless but enthusiastic anime newbie but wasn't always that way.

I used to torment a young man I know by saying, "You're not watching those strange cartoons again, are you?" with added emphasis on the word 'cartoons'. "You're way, way too old for cartoons," I'd say, chuckling to myself. This went on for quite a while.

Anyway, one day he said to me, "They're not cartoons, they're anime and before you continue on with those comments, why don't you watch one so that you'll know what I'm talking about,".

I thought he had a point there. Though not fully convinced, I thought, at the very least, watching one or two would bolster my 'cartoon' theory so I figured I had nothing to loose...oh, boy, I was soooo naive  back then :)

Since I have watched the following (and counting) and probably others that fail to come to mind:

Last Exile
Noein
Madoka
Stellvia
Fate/Stay Night
Kamichu
Code Geass
Scrapped Princess
Bamboo Blade
And Azumanga Daioh, my all time favorite to date. Hey,what's not to love about Chiyo-chan?

I'm a numberless, anime convert and you know how shrill converts can be :) Also, If you have any suggestions for anime I just 'have to see', please let me know.
