Fair enough, but I'm just wondering if it isn't too much of a nerfing since it basically casts doubt on all investigations barring flips of the investigation falsifiers. But then again,.

Conq: I think that's a good thing. Cop's an unfair role: No matter how well Mafia play, a lucky shot-in-the-dark can unveil them. How fair is that?

I think even-night is a bit too much of a nerf imo.

Appartently,

cop
cop
voyeur

vs.

goon
scum tracker
scum rolecop

is about balanced in a 13-p  closed set-up with some advantage to town.

Don't lynch me.

Optionally you could make the Scum Goon a Framer and throw off the Cop.

Oh, and /in

I found the answer to my quandary in a bowl of delicious pho!

The cop will be a Rogue Detective who may only investigate on odd nights due to red tape and paperwork.  S/he may choose to SCREW THE RULES and investigate on an Even night, but doing so eliminates their ability to investigate for the remainder of the game.

Don't get me wrong; I dislike cop roles because they're basically impossible to use incorrectly - any chump with a role pm can take a shot in the dark and come up with a useful result with little to no negative consequence. But then we're getting into the discussion of why we're using power roles in the first place. Is it just "for fun" or to "spice things up", or is it to give one faction an advantage they need to make up for inherent advantages the other faction has (which is why some people espouse 2-11 Mountainous as "balanced", why the White Flag setup is seen as "balanced", etc)?
That said, this situation is a little different because :open setup: means there's the issue of confirmable townies and the lot. I suppose my opposition to a "secret miller" is more a visceral reaction as a player than anything else. I don't mind effectively gutting the cop if that's what we're trying to do.
Cut by Edible coming up with a creative solution. Pho is indeed delicious.

Also Dan, 2 (sane) cops in 13p with no scum rb/framer/gf is not balanced; I think you're quoting your source wrong.

If anyone'd like to, I can read along with the game and jot down all the things you're doing right (and those you could do better). This offer is limited availability since I can't do this for everyone (probably), and is intended for those who think they can use such a thing to improve their play. You won't receive any comments until after the game ends, though.

I'm going to do this thing called "positive solution-focused thinking", which means I'll tell you what you did right, and then what you can do better instead of what you did wrong. Telling someone to "not do that" limits their actions whereas enforcing positive strengthens their choice towards specific actions. We want the latter, not the former.

Noted.  :V I'll probably end it at you two then due to limited time and all.

I don't care about the choice of words, the main point is I hope to get a few things of the "uh, I never noticed / thought of that" variety out of this.
Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to do this. =)

Well, it's to see how it goes, too. :V So no problem, it shouldn't be a huge problem... certainly not as time-consuming as Mafia.

If there is I'm /in.

If there's not and hydras are allowed+anyone is interested, I'd be up for that, even if means I'm stuck in a QT and not allowed to post, because AWW YEAH MAFIERS.

[08:25 pm]  Aristocrat -- Raitaki, if both of us ended up as mafia

When multiple players are in the same slot.  Usually only 1 of them is allowed to post, but they share a QT.

As much as I understand the purpose of this game is to get town back on track, I can /out for this game if need be to avoid the hydra. I'm not absolutely jonesin' for another Mafia game right now and I'd really rather not play with a hydra anyway.
