Alright everyone, so I'm not going to beat around the bush on this, but everyone who has been in the #dots-meido channel for the last few months will have realized that the game the channel was created for, DotS, is rarely played anymore.

I think we should rectify this issue and so I'm calling all of you to assist, we're going to bring this channel back to its origins and we're going to get back to DotS. It has really been too long and we've strayed from what we all came to the channel to do.

tl;dr I demand we play more DotS games.

People have been coming to DotS-Meido for Dota more often now, and I don't blame them. But I agree whole heartedly: we need to play DotS. More.

With the changes to the dev team, I think we should give it a chance. What with the imminent full remake, now is the time to fix what we don't like about DotS. Or at least suggest fixes.

Dormio's general rant about DotS and the MotK playerbase.

I'll say something that I've been thinking for a while now, but a lot of the balance complaints were largely unjustified in my opinion.
Of course, I'm not suggesting that DotS is balanced or whatever, but a lot of the complaints that I heard sounded like not much more than bullshit to me.
IE. Remember the old complaints about Wriggle being OP in previous versions? Of course she was when nobody ever bothered to buy wards. :V (Even now, nobody really bothers getting truesight)
There's also the problem of meta. Here, the plan is always "Farm your lane until we go group pushing."
This is made worse by our playerbase, where it's clear that some people are better than others. We always play to accommodate the lesser players, which doesn't help the better players improve at the game at all. Alas, it's to be expected with a playerbase as small as ours.

RE: Suggestions,
As for suggestions of my own, unfortunately, I have not played much of the latest version of the map, so I have nowhere near enough confidence in my own viewpoints to go so far as to suggest changes.

The changelog for 980 -> 981 is was expected to consist of only bugfixes until you-know-what-happened.  :V

What ideas are you looking for?

Actually, I don't know. The chinese players submit a tonne of ideas to the dev subforum on touhou.cc and some of them eventually make it into the map after some consideration. Some are suggestions for new heros, some are suggestions for the change of game mechanics, some are suggestions for tweaks to existing heros, etc. Just looking to see if we have anything similar here. There was a hilarious one for Hieda no Akyu sometime ago as an int hero with not much more than 500hp at max level but whose skills all have either global or mega-long cast range (enough to cast across lanes) and are mostly strategic skills in nature, similar to old Kaguya's skillset minus that nuke. However, Tenshi. Usually we try not to pin ideas down into specific categories while brainstorming.

Satori has 5skills she can steal. She has none of her own
Make the lightning animation from kanakos innate like iiw lightning967
Tewi makes pitfall traps
Yukari can gap anything permanantly
Komachi and china randomly fall asleep
Chen has perma roll
Insta loss if mystia is eaten by yuyuko
Yuyuko can eat ANYTHING no exceptions
Kogasas suprises fail most of the time
Reisen2 can make the moonfall
If patchy loses to much mana she dies from exhuastion
Aya can take pictures it removes anything that isnt a unit
Alice can summon goliathdoll
If ran and chen fight ran will lose hp overtime do to bloodloss
Everything leaves a corpses
Rin can revive anything
Etc...

If these are added i like where the game is going

Some non serious suggestion

Every 10int increases magic resistance
Koishi and kanako remake
Change tenshis innate
Throw a damage cap on chen
Change sunnymilk to str scale on her skills
Rather then have sakuyas blink increase aspd have it reduce cast time or something
Tojiko markers cant be seen by enemies
Was myon and keystone fixed for when youmu/tenshi went invis?
Reisen2 throw a max duration onto her ult
Give the basher item a 1sec cd

Eh yea thats all i got for now. Im pretty content with most things. Just that somethings need a limit rather then let it go on forever

Last game I played here was YJ 's event, and hell that was fun. (especially because I just came home at 2 am :V)

Back to basics imo. Back to true DotS (aka no LoL imitation). Take the last known map without the scaling system as base (0.967g) and start balancing/tweaking from there.

New heroes/tweaks/items are not the isue. The entire system is.

I know, though like I said: balance come later. It is more like to get the latest "non-LoL" version as a base and work your way from there. Unless you have a better version in mind, feel free to say here.

Working on the later added heroes like Tojiko etc isn't a problem.

Edit: Just to clarify. I don't mean: "get map 0.967, and continue working on it" but using the heroes dmg values/durations/etc as something to start out with. Otherwise you will have to reinvent the wheel again and start guessing numbers. Logically the map has to be rewritten (which is good)

Whats wrong with the latest dots versions again? Im actually fine with all these changes and systems. I dont really have a problem with the game mechanics in LoL so it doesnt really bother me that its in dots.

I believe that it's better balanced than 967, at the very least.

aph just fire eveyrone in suggestion department and put rawr in there so we will see the "true" 981 dots
also i prefer play with 100ms delay rather than seeing derpy pubbies in DotS game on local battlenet that raises your urge to kill some1 irl really high and takes away your sanity ASAP

Well someone else is already working on the HJ map. As for me, I'm still tinkering around with systems. Some of you in IRC might have known that I made a certain character in a Touhou map that I started making before I joined the DotS dev team. This character might end up as a nice surprise later on. :3
