Happy Birthday, Toyosatomimi no Miko!
« on: February 08, 2012, 02:31:30 AM »
1438 already! Boy where do the years go when you're busy being dead?

Let's all gather  'round and sing "For She's a Jolly Good Prince" for our favorite Taoist political manipulator!

I wore my favorite headphones all day in celebration.

It's not like we have a lot of Touhou characters with exact birthdates, so I heartily welcome this. We ought to have done something special.

How many of the girls have known birthdays, and by that I mean right down to the day?

Oh shit, I had read her age wrong, she was born in 574 and is 1438, not the other way around.

I am so sorry my prince!

I'm slightly ashamed it took me this long to do this.

Also that song was just the tip of the Queen iceberg. Someone remind me to make a thread here after I get home.

Yes.
Hell yes.
Hell fucking yes

We really should've done something special. I think she's the only Touhou with a known exact birthday.

Flandre was born in 1508 A.D. That's the only other one I'm aware of, though.

Also I'm not really a fan of Miko but I'll throw my celebration in anyway.

Remilia is 5 years older, meaning 1503 A.D., but still no exact date.

Chiyuri and Yumemi also have ages, but no date AT ALL.(They're 15 and 17 respectively.)

Reimu was 12 in 1996...

So she'd be 28 or so by now. Same thing with Marisa.

"Boundary between age and youth" has something to do with it I'm sure.

Marisa's just a midget.

Marisa's just a midget.
I thought this was common knowledge, given ZUN's e-mail.

She could be a dwarf, which explains her pack-rat syndrome and her kleptomania.

Logically, her birthday would be less than a century away from Miko's (assuming (s)he hadn't already blessed (him/her)self with longevity before immortality).

That whooshing sound you hear is the "down-to-the-day" concept going over your heads. Also Unzan's breath as he reads over your shoulder, but that's another matter entierly.

On a more serious note, having characters stay the same age despite time passing is an acceptable break from reality, unless you want to replace the protagonists every three games. I get thrown more by the way some of the characters' apparent ages fluctuate from one installment to the next so much.
