I would name my daughter, Shinki or Luize, If I had kids. Luize might actually be a better name than Shinki but, I'unno. S'not like I'm having any kids soon anyway :V

I'd actually like to name my daughter Remilia if I ever have kids. It's the sort of name which is original but doesn't stick out too much.

Parsee's not a bad sounding name either. It just sounds kind of masculine like Chauncey or Kirby.

Teacher: "Introduce yourself to the class."
Son: "I am The Phantom of the Grand Guignol."
That would be one hell of a reference if you could slip it into a drama production or something. I don't know why I didn't notice this earlier, but some assistant prof's of mine name's Chen. Which is weird considering he's not even Asian. I really like the name Maribel, wouldn't stick out as well.

If I could name my child after a Touhou, I guess the best choice would be Maribel, cuz' like many others have said, it's a really good name. Marisa and Alice sound normal too...

Or I can always name my daughter Cirno... Or Wriggle... Or UN Owen... Or Tomboyish Beloved Girl...

This is, of course, assuming I ever have one... :foreveralone.jpg:
Meiling is ma' neighbour... though it's a pretty common Chinese name...

Would you or have you ever name(d) a child after a Touhou character? If so, who and why?

If not , why not?
No, because it is creepy and 2nd: depending on your culture/country, naming your kid a foreign name is imo weird. People who don't consider the possible consequences are egoistic and clueless. Life isn't a game. (is it?)

I think nearly everyone is self-conscious about their name, regardless of if it's too common or too out there.

I don't like my name because Winston sounds like a butler's name to me.

And besides, there are far worse names you could give your child.

Like "Guy." Or "Chrysanthemum."

That being said I think we can all agree not to name our child "Five magic stones."

I am personally inclined to say yes because:
1) My own name is very unique, and I think it has ultimately affected me extremely positively, despite how much I was made fun of as a child
2) A lot of Touhou names wouldn't sound too strange next to the last name "Yang."

It would be weird for Japanese's names to be used here.

People here aren't that accepting, one with weird name usually get mocked by his/her friends. Well, joke is a joke, but only if it's funny.

I don't know, I'd say at least Aya is pretty cross-cultural at this point. It's a reasonably normal name in a number of places.

Although if I were to name a daughter after a Touhou or other video game character, I would probably use the middle name for that unless it was a REALLY unassuming name and/or the wife liked it too.

Alice is pretty much the only name from touhou that is "normal" over here, but then there's such an ethnic diversity where I live that I personally don't really get surprised by names anymore.

I guess there would still be the kid's earlier life to consider but then again.

If I were to name my daughter after a Touhou character (if I ever had kids in the first place ;~;) I would name her Remilia or Maribel, or maybe even Yukari.
Japanese names are very rare where I live, but I know that people in my area would think Yukari as a pretty name, & won't find it weird.
Remillia or Maribel would seem more...'normal.'  (not as 'normal' as Marisa or Alice would be though)
Besides, I find all three names quite pretty.

I would probably, only if the name isn't Japanese sounding. (not from there after all)

Possible choices: Marisa, Ellen, Elly, Sara, Luize, Alice, Letty?(not to sure), and Maibel.

Seems a good amount of PC98 characters seem to work. Out of those I think maybe Alice or Sara if it was a girl.

It's not Luize, it's Louise. Which is a fairly unassuming name.

Oops... My bad. :colonveeplusalpha:
Hmm, if the spellings like that, maybe I would choose that over Sara.

Sunny isn't a bad name either. I think it would suck way worse for an adult than for a kid actually.

Hina too. It sounds more Nordic than Japanese anyway.
