Another thing I notice? If you go to your Edit Profile page, your normal avatar is still there so you didn't actually lose anything. It's just how the forum is displaying the images!

Nope, linking to scripts doesn't work.  For security reasons the forum downloads your avatar from the URL you provide and saves it locally for display.  So all that happens is the forum would grab the first avatar returned by the script and download that for your avatar.
