So, I don't know about you guys, but I'm loving this series so far. It's got the same kind of low-key surrealist humor that I enjoyed in Soremachi, only with a few extra doses of mo? included. Where normally I would avoid this kind of plot-free cutefest, something about the direction is compelling to me. It's funny, absurd, often adorable, and never makes any sense.
Thoughts?

So just started watching this... I became curious because of weird things like the windup key, I'm now utterly sold because of the humor. I'm not usually fond of slice-of-life series, but this is so far from the norm I can't help but love it.

The interlude with the guy watering the flowers was neat. Overall, though, I feel episode 3 was kinda weaker than the others. Nothing really made me cackle in it like the prior two did. Still worthy, though.

This show can get a bit bland at some parts, but mostly, more or less I'd be laughing my heart out the next moment.
I absolutely love the Hakase Household and Mai. Yukko and Mio don't really appeal to me that much, but yeah, they can be funny too.

The guy who made Nichijou and the guy who made Azumanga Daioh are two different people. Kiyohiko Azuma created Azumanga Daioh (and is currently working on Yotsuba&!), while Arawa Keiichi created Nichijou.
Now that I think about it though, the similarities ARE kind of uncanny. :3

I liked how me and my friend were introduced to the series haha. We were walking around with nothing to do early morning with nothing to do at fanime and we happened to walk by an open door at first we weren't interested but then we saw the robot girl trip and explode. We laughed... and a girl sitting by the door looked at us funny. But happy to say were hooked. Nichijou is down right hilarious!

I thought the scene with the policeman was only funny when Mio was attacking everybody but the part leading up to it didn't really do anything for me.
the scene in the restaurant made me laugh but ugh Yukko. I really liked the scene when she went to visit Nano, it was the only time I didn't find her annoying.

No, it's alright. Part of Nichijou's charm is that the humor tries to do something different, often minimalistically. Sometimes the jokes are gonna flop. But hey, no one bats a thousand. Some bits are bound to be "meh" in a 26-episode series.

Been watching Nichijou with my roommates; it's the nice treat in the middle of each of our weeks. I got a huge kick out of the board theme change as well. Random stream of consciousness babble-time!
Mai is a huge troll and picks on her poor ADHD friend Yukko. Hakase torments Nano but she's too cute to dislike. I'm really looking forward to seeing Igo-Soccer ala the opening. And I'm really glad Yukko finally got to have a happy time with Hakase without Murphy's Law kicking her curbside for once.

I'm amazed no one has mentioned the fact that most of what's in both openings are starting to make it into the episodes.

One of the things I like about this series is that even if an episode is kinda meh, there's at least one sketch that was very good. In episode 18's case, I think the two stand-out sketches were the first Helvetica Standard - some pretty pitch black comedy there - and another one of Yukko's dreams. I love the fable-like story, with absurd humor the show does best. I still enjoy the shorter pieces, too. Maybe it was just average in comparison to how amazing 17 was, but I thought it lost me most of the time. Still, one person out of another being dropped from a blimp by a displeased Parsee made up for it.

Goddamn Sakurai continues to kill my heart. I find the discover of her brother's porn to be the cutest reaction with Nano's discovery of Yaoi a few episodes back

Second to last episode. A lot of loose ends being tied up rather nicely.
The lottery
really choked me up, and the series' title was used in a really touching way.
And the chase scene
is a perfect example of one aspect of Nichijou's humor that they don't exercise so much: parody. Which was a shame, because they did it well.
I'm just glad Season 2 of Ika Musume will be starting shortly after this series is done, because it's really been a pleasure.

I was just basking in the awe of the end of the chase scene, along with how meta Mio was being. Did anyone else feel it too, while she was laughing.? It was like she was talking directly to the viewer, about the appeal of this series. Especially after
the burglar gets clotheslined and Mio says "See?".

Now I am sad, I'll miss my weekly dose of funtimes. But we ended on a very high note, and that's good for me. About the only way it could have been better would have been for the zeppelin to show up, some Helvetica Standard, or for Mohawk to try to be aggressively atheist one more time
Also, I really want to take a katamari across that ending sequence, so bad.

"Nichijou" just means "everyday life". Sasahara made an interesting little comment about the "small miracles" (remember how that popped up often in the series?) that comprise everyday life, and here Nano ends the series by talking about the joy of her everyday life.
