It's a good thing there's some group interest going into this game. I used to play all the time back when Jick use to delete accounts that were inactive for more than three months.
And when I say "All the time" I really mean "long enough to reach level ten and then quit for several months at a time."
Needless to say, picking up from where I left off feels wonderfully refreshing.
I can already tell I'm starting to lose interest though. I'm almost finished getting the Wossname at level thirteen yesterday, but after spending about 200 adventures, and still having 145 left, I just decided that, suddenly, I was level 14 and went to sleep.

Yeah, it can be tough to stay interested for long periods when you've been through the content a few times (That's why people tend to pick up Greasemonkey, so they can burn through a day without actively doing anything when need be).
I actually donated and got a Mr. Accessory at one point, so my account is sticking around from ages ago. Man, I miss the days pre-NS-13 when everything was so simple. The majority of the quests have been overhauled so much since then!

I'm considering doing that before too long, either once friends pay me back from concert stuff or when I get some Christmas gift money. A lot of the past Items/Familiars of the Month and such sound pretty neat.

They have been substantially overhauling a lot of stuff recently. The Typical Tavern and the Bat Hole in particular I remember getting redone just in the past month or so, though I was past the Bat Hole on this run by the time that one happened. I really like the revamped Tavern though.

Yeah, I did both of those last night (I love that the good old early-game grind spot still works like a charm, I really do 8D). Bat Hole looks to almost be the exact same in actual mechanics, except the final room got changed. And the Tavern being cleaned up and all is nice. I particularly like that I can now go back and fight Baron von Ratsworth later instead of having to put off completing the quest

Yeah Pastamancers and Saucerors seem to have it rough at startup. Later on they can cast everything to death, but it's still a little harder then the Moxie classes.
I'm wondering if it'll be easier after a couple more ascensions.

The Hippy Store! It's on the Mysterious Island of Mystery, requires Filthy Hippy Disguise but that's not hard to pick up once you've opened the Island anyway.

Yeah if you've got the meat (and they're usually cheap) the filthy hippy stand sells all those fruits.
As for fruits in general? The only place off the top of my head is the tower ruins and the fruit golem. I know Knob Goblin chefs have tomatos too, but that's all I remember.

The drunkest you can be and still be able to adventure normally is 14. (19 if you have Liver of Steel; if you have it you'll know, you probably haven't gotten it quite yet.)

So. Would anyone like any of the following:
*Fancy Ball Mask (Helmet, 90 power, +10% Moxie)
*Can-Can Skirt (Pants, 90 power, +10% Muscle)
*Albatross Necklace (Accessory, +10% Mysticality)
I'll only do one per person (It takes a few adventures to secure one!) so obviously pick the one that will help you out the most. They're really nice equipment that only needs a 15 base stat to wear.
They're also something I don't think anyone else here can get for you, because they come from an area accessed via items from a Familiar Of The Month, which can be really tough to find your way around and scales to your level (so it's always dangerous), as well as is pretty unrewarding if you don't know where to go!
If anyone wants to try for an item themselves though, I'll happily hand over a bottle of absinthe along with general instructions. I drag my Green Pixie around everywhere so I rack up tonnes of bottles anyway.

Plus, it's the only one I can use at the moment (My other Base Stats are 12 each).

You can actually have 3 accessories on at a time. And as far as I can tell you only need the air freshener for Guano Junction, you can take it off as soon as you unblock the rest of the areas.

Okay, I sent out the gifts. Offer's still open if anyone else wants a hand up, since in the early game finding equipment that's worthwhile is a pain.
Also, I'm depositing any ten-leaf clovers I happen to pick up into the clan stash (Picking the sign that causes spontaneous ten-leaf clovers was probably a bad idea for a bad moon gateway run
). Feel free but please don't take them all for yourself, they're useful for everyone.

Of course, eating and drinking each day (and, if you have the money, damaging your spleen as far as it'll go (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Twinkly_wad)) is optimal for getting the most adventures each day. But yeah, you'll want to use more adventures than normal on stat days.

What do Ten Leaf Clovers do anyways? I found one from a barrel but I dunno what it's for. I can take it a apart and reassemble it but fwuh.
Also how am I supposed to reassemble this meat car business. I have a cog and sprocket assembly but I've yet to find a meat stack or rims.

Ten-leaf clovers can give you some unique adventures at certain places, but are consumed upon use. Either disassemble them or put them in your closet if you don't want to use them.
I'd save one until you hear something about an epic weapon.
You can make meat stacks yourself by going into your crafting menu and cramming 100 meat together in the bottom drop-down list. The rims can be found at the Hermitage.

Speaking of ten-leafs, you can't use them if you're going to unlock a Bad Moon run, but that's not until you have access to a Hardcore run. This (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Bad_moon) page has all the details (spoilers abound, obviously).

Yeah, worrying about the singular bonus from not using ten-leaf clovers shouldn't matter to most of you guys, since you couldn't even benefit from it right now anyway (It doesn't work unless you're under specific conditions - namely, in Hardcore mode, and you're not in that on your first playthrough)
Meanwhile though, ten-leaf clovers (They're disassembled clovers right now for you guys) are handy. You can use them to make them disassembled for a time, then use one of those to re-assemble them. They'll only trigger when they're assembled (Listed as "Ten-leaf clover" in your miscellaneous items). At which point, when you adventure in an area where they trigger a special adventure, they are guaranteed to give you that adventure and then vanish from your inventory.
There are three spots that are particularly worth the clover; although the second two are simply accelerators - only the first one listed here is a necessity.
During the optional Epic Weapon
quest, you'll need them to win a jackpot
During the final quest, they can save you adventures worth of pain on something random
They can also be used for powerlevelling if you take them to the top floor of Spookyraven Manor (One room for each stat)

Were you at the Orcish Frat House while disguised, or in Barrrney's Barrr? Those are the only two places other than the Typical Tavern where you could have gotten drunkenness from adventures, and I'm pretty sure you'd know if you were using Yummy Tummy beans or Dungeons of Doom potions...

Ran into a Tofurkey at the Degrassi Knoll and got a leg & gravy from it. Ate them and got 4 Muscle points out of it! They probably filled me up a lot, but I can't be sure since the wiki appears to be down.
Anyway, dropped a few weapons into the stash, including the Moxie class starters (disco ball & stolen accordion) in case someone made the same mistake I did and sold their starting weapon (had to Chewing Gum on a String farm to get another one). I also named my Smiling Rat Nazrin, since she's Nazrin.

You have an increased limit for food eating on the Feast of Boris, so you can eat the ridiculously fattening things that drop off of the special monsters in pretty large quantities. It's also the only day you can eat those things, so go nuts 8D

Do you plan to do it as a Moxie class? If so, just level up some and voila, instant immunity to the Bonerdagon when you hit an effective 100 Moxie. Means you have to wait a bit to get those rewards, but...

One of those Knob Goblin perfumes would be nice; I'm going after the Goblin King tomorrow and I could use another chance at him without having to farm up the Harem. Then again, if I use my 3 vials of Scented massage oil (full HP heal each, can be used mid-battle) and still lose I'll be needing to go there anyway or wait for the next day when I can afford to train the Stuffed Mortar Shell (I'm level 8 now and tested myself against the things at the Haunted Library. Didn't work out too well. Equipment restriction is getting the better of me).
Unlocked the Hidden Temple at the Feast of Boris yesterday, and today inadvertantly realized that you CAN eat FoB food after that day. I thought I had sold it all and realized I still had some Herbal Stuffing so I decide to try it anyway. It still worked, though my appetite was normal.

You can't. They're a former Item of the Month, way back from November 2005. The only way to get one would've been to donate during that timeframe.
Maximizing your adventures if you don't have obscene meat counts is pretty much down to learning effective ways to get good booze and food, because most of the items are a little way out of your reach. And honestly, if you know what you're doing there, you can easily be facing a good 100 adventures or more per day (even after counting the time needed for your daily harvesting, as it were).
If you want a few more for 'free' per day, however your options are pretty much as follows for reasonably attainable things:
Automatic ones:
*Join the MotK clan (Unascended/Casual/Softcore players only). There's +5 adventures per day from the Series of Self-Help Books. Some guilds can go up to +9 depending on what they have installed, but few go so far, because they take up slots generally reserved for the free meat or similar.
*Make yourself a Meat Maid to automatically gain 4 per day (Complete the process to build another Meat Engine, like you did when making the Bitchin' Meatcar. Combine that with a Frilly Skirt (Degrassi Knoll) for the body. The head is Smart Skull (Cemetary) + Disembodied Brain (Tower Ruins) + Maiden Wig (Degrassi Knoll, again)
. Be sure to install it in your camp!)
*Complete the Pagoda Quest to get a Pagoda for your campground, doubling your HP/MP recovery and adding 3 adventures per day (It's long, but worth it. See This Link (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Pagoda_Quest) for details
)
Equipment-based (You'll need these equipped when rollover hits in order to get the bonus!)
*Equip the Sword Behind Inappropriate Prepositions for +5 (Seal Clubbers can Super-Advanced Meatsmith them from Chrome Sword + Facsimile Dictionary, after the Level 9 Quest. Since that requires a once-per-ascension, nontradable item -and- a skill, it goes for around 30,000+ in the mall.

*Equip a Chrome Weapon for +3 (Seal Clubbers can Super-Advanced Meatsmith them from a Chrome Ore + Dense Meat Stack + weapon base. The rest of you will need to
buy one (super cheap!), although there IS a chance to get one as a reward during the Mt. McLargeHuge quest. Recommended to grab a Chrome Sword for the S.B.I.P.

*Equip a Dead Guy's Watch for +1 (Grave Robers and Grave Rober Zmobies at the Cyrpt and Mispelld Cemetary have them

All of the Items of the Month have had their own reasons for being awesome.
I personally am lucky enough to have two IOTM familiars. A Green Pixie (currently going for 35 mil meat), which raises item drop rate, attacks, and occasionally gives Tiny Bottles of Absinthe, used to access the Worm Wood area for special items unavailable anywhere else (Including the ones I gave away earlier); and a Penguin Goodfella (only 7mil meat), which raises stat gains, delevels enemies, and gives me contracts that can be used in battle to force him to attack for some fairly serious damage, including properly aligned elemental damage.
These two aren't even particularly high-valued Items of the Month, either.

First Crimbo item - A can of CRIMCOLA. Restores quite a bit of MP (I got 88 out of it while Temple farming on this Mysticality Day).
I'm amazed at how cheap the Wand of Nagamar can be. Maybe 900 Meat if you use the Flea Market (probably less) + 30 more for 3 wads of Meat Paste if you don't have them already. You think it'd be a lot more expensive for each piece (I was expecting at least 3000 total, possibly 5000), so maybe it's meant to decieve people. It's only a 30 Power weapon normally, so quite a few will think it's nearly worthless. Then you see the fact that it sells for more than 300 Meat...
Besides the Wand, some of the things at the Flea Market make me lol. 221 Meat for a Meat Stack? 1172 for a Cherry!? The... Wand for 680? FAAK!
I seriously need to think of a name to give Grofflesby, but I don't have any ideas. That and I need to find some more familiars (I still only have him and Nazrin).

Well, it's not like you ever need more than one, but you still have to make one every ascension if you finish it before leaving Ronin or are in Hardcore/Bad Moon. What else are you gonna do with it?
Also: You're limited to ten cherries per day. And that also includes Raspberries. Or Kumquats. Or Cocktail Onions. Or Bottles of Jorge Sinsonte. Etc. etc... long story short there's a limit to production and a demand that surpasses that - especially since only Disco Bandits and Accordion Thieves can ever make them, the latter only if you have Superhuman Cocktailcrafting perm'd. Other classes can't use them, however - unless they've got Superhuman Cocktailcrafting permanent, in which case, they need to get them from somewhere! And it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the drinks...

Since I'm still in item farming mode to garner money, I'm turning my attention to sea farming. Unfortunately, while I know the facts
(mass item and initiative(lol) penalty, needs fishy to avoid wasting lots and lots of adventures)
, I don't know anything about how to string those facts into an effective strategy. So, here are some questions I have:
1) Exactly what goodies are available for the able-equipped adventurers? (yeah, I'm a real noob for not even getting this, I know)
2. Is it worth it to get Salty Dogs, or is it more productive to just run mass itemfind to counteract pressure instead?
3. What are the most cost-effective ways of getting Fishy?

I took some number scrolls dealing with the Orc Chasm quest from the stash and had unexpected problems resulting in taking more than I was planning. I put in more extras that I found though.
On another note, good food and booze management is awesome. I got around 120~ adventures out of yesterday thanks them. You'd be surprised at how cheap and efficient fruit pies are. :V

Some assassin tried to take me out while I was in Mining gear about to clear up the Goatlet. Narrowly escaped by using 3 Stuffed Mortar Shells (It was hitting me for 30-plus a pop and one more would've done me in). The first 2 times I got jumped weren't too much of a problem, but I feel I'll be in over my head soon. I only have 85 Mys unbuffed (121 in battle gear, 99 when I was almost assassinated), and I'm sure the worst is yet to come.

You're on Bad Moon, correct? If so, there should be a random chance of getting the Big Rock from the slot machine that normally requires a clover to get it from. Not sure how likely it is, but it's possible if you're willing to spend a sizable amount of Adventures.

The very 1st section. I have a Meatsmithing Hammer(I assumed that was the item to buy) and I'm a Seal Clubber.

Here's a basic walkthrough of how to get what you need to make the weapon. I've marked it in spoilers just to be safe.
First you need the Big Rock which you can get from the casino. You can buy a casino pass from the market to get in. Have a Ten-Leaf Clover on you and use the... lemon machine I want to say it is. The big rock should plop out for you.
Second, you need something from the hermitage. You'll need a hermit permit and a useless/worthless/etc item. You can fish them out of sewers by using bubble gum on a strings, also bought from the market. The item you need from the hermitage is a seal tooth.
Third, you need to meatsmith the rock and seal tooth together then fuse that result together with a seal-clubbing club to get your legendary weapon.

Yeah. Fortunately they're based on your mainstat, so they shouldn't be too difficult. Just if you're in a costume instead of your fighting best it may be a problem. And they do send a final assassin after you at some point.
The Nemisis itself however... That was a tough fight. Sweet rewards though.

I have 538 Days played for my first accession, But that's not including the two previous accounts that ended up being deleted before Jick removed the "delete three month inactive accounts" policy. I never ascended with those accounts ever, so I guess that would technically make me the longest running.

Sounds like a Spaghetti cult assassin. Pastamancer nemesis quest enemy and such.You should fight Yakisoba the Executioner soon.
I think I got a little too paranoid for this fight. I was buying and spamming up Ben-Gal, Mascara, and Hair Spray until I ran into him and took him down with 2 Weapons of the Pastalord that did about 100 damage a piece (had almost 140 Mys buffed). He only hit me once for 20 HP and I had about 110.
Now I can fight evil with a Macaroni Duck :V

I never figured the ingrediants were easily accessible. And mind you, spices still aren't - but I don't have any cooking skills made permanent yet. Even still, thanks to the level 12 quest, I can easily make myself some completely awesome Peach Pies using nothing but shops. Not to mention a tonne of other things that I could have been making all along had I realised that I had the Bugbear Outfit and that it can be used to buy most of the necessary ingrediants for non-pastamancer cooking.
I'm already looking back at my previous days spent munching hot wings and cranberries and shaking my head 8D

Does HP and MP recovery on Rollover go by the day going out or the day coming in? We've got another Myst day in 2 days and I try to maximize the usage of my MP before rest, healing outside combat, and rollover.
I've also got 4 ten-leaf clovers and no clue what to really do with them. I'm planning on grinding up at the Hidden Temple for the Giant Trash Quest (I'd probably get whooped if I went to the Penultimate Fantasy Ship at only 82-133-87) but we also have a Feast of Boris this Saturday.

Surprisingly, I think Touhou is one of the few things not ever referenced in KoL.

If they do reference Japan-Only games and decide to make one for Touhou, I wouldn't expect much. A line of text that's easily missed or mistaken as another is the most I can seriously see them doing.
Personally I'd rather not see a Touhou reference in KoL, even if it actually references the games. Though I would find it rather funny if the first form of the Naughty Sorceress referenced Mima's Bad Ending quote in SoEW if you can't beat her quickly enough.

No, no, whitelisting isn't a bad thing at all. It just means that we don't have to automatically approve your application.
If you leave the clan for whatever reason, and then decide to come back, you're instantly back.

Pie Crust = Wad of Dough + Pie Tin. These areboth dropped by enemies in Degrassi Knoll, I believe, but If you get the bugbear set (hat and pants) from that area, equip them and you can buy these items for cheap in the Bugbear Bakery in the forest. Wads of Dough are also combinable with other items to make things like white chocolate chip cookies, and can be rolled/unrolled for more recipies like tortillas!
Then combine a Pie Crust with some sort of fruit, such as strawberries, lemons, etc. ; they're first and easiest available from Fruit Golems in Fernswarthy's Tower
, and later on you can directly buy them from the Hippy Stand on the Island, if you've gotten yourself the Filthy Hippy Disguise
.
I think each one is 3 fullness and gives 3-9 adventures and a single substat. They're not the best foods (If you're a pastamancer you can make FAR better things), but they're easily accessible and cheap.

If you clean out the produce stand during the war as a hippy you get access to 3 more fruits that make even better pies.
And of course baking a key into a lime gets you a key lime pie, which not only gives you good adventures/fullness, but also gives you the key (or most of it) back.

Not weekly. KoL follows a modified calendar, (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Kingdom_of_Loathing_Calendar) and in-game holidays typically fall on the days shown. Then, assuming the dev team remembers, they'll also put the corresponding holiday on the real-life holiday. That's why there was another Feast of Boris so soon.
That also explains why a few days or so ago, Halloween happened again.

I'm a Seal Clubber, and all I have is Attack and the 2 useless starting skills(+2 Muscle, and a weak dmg move) and until I get Ultimate Legendary Weapon or a 2-Handed club with power comparing to my current weapon(200 Power, Rusty Piece of Rebar), no Lunging Thrust Smack for me :< And no point in me useing anything other then that or Attack is I have the proper weapon.
Btw, I need a habanero pepper or w/e to make a food for my Nemesis quest. Does anyone have one available, or know how I could get one other then hermit?

When you're a Turtle Tamer with your Ultimate Legendary Epic Weapon, the Turtle of Seven Tails, which allows you to hit seven times in one attack
. Very useful. Also, as either of the Moxie classes, you have the chance to pickpocket your opponent and grab an item from them before combat even starts. And the Disco Bandits' Disco Combos can create all kinds of effects; more stat gains, more item drops, etc.
As for the Jaba?ero pepper, you can find those at 100 meat each at the mall.

Disco Bandits need Moxious Maneuver at low levels to overcome anything that scales to their level (Once they get the +ranged weapon damage skill they're fine), and there's also the Disco Combos which can prove useful later on. Also, pickpocketting is a cool thing (The kitten will not stop you from pickpocketing, nor will it take items recieved via Pickpocketing 8D[/spoiler).

need to be able to use skills. It's how they do... well,

According to the wiki, any 2-handed 'club' type weapon wielded by a Seal Clubber will get 100% accuracy.
Since the damage is 3x that of a normal attack... yeah.
Kittycore Update: I still love my kitten. He hardly did anything bad, other than batting away like 7/8 drops from fruit golems, but that's really minor - he didn't bat away the grave robbing shovel, much to my surprise, or any other important item that could have dropped today.
I also love the new adventures that show up in Bad Moon 8D

Nope. The Hermitage is required for each class to get at a part of their Epic Weapon. Use some Chewing Gums on Strings until you find a "Worthless" item. They'll want one of these and a Hermit Permit (you can bypass the latter after a certain point, but I'm pretty sure you aren't that far yet).

Like Ruro said, buying them at the mall for 100 meat is a cheaper way to do it, especially if you don't have the hermit script.

Actually you just need chewing gun on a string. Just use them from the inventory, you don't need a real sewer location anymore. (You'll get a lot of crap though).

Just a few more quarters and I'll have me a fancy beer-a-pult. I love abusing bonus elemental damage that comes on weapons. Especially with the Disco Bandit's bonus ranged weapon damage. It makes for lulzy damage on people.

I just started A Maze of Sewer Tunnels, but I'm not gonna get to Hobopolis before Crimbo ends sadly. I can take out the monsters there with strategy, but it'll take a while before I can get through it all. I have to use Entangling Noodles right away, summon my Spice Ghost (Level 5 ATM, haven't used him much except to get Spices which feels like once a day), spam WotPL until it dies (usually 3), and hope that (1) my Animated Macaroni Duck attacks, and (2) the monster doesn't break free before I beat it. If it breaks free or gets the jump on me, I take triple-digit damage (about 104-110 or so, I have 176 now) and probably worse once Having a Ball runs out. Even then I can't do it all day (you only get 10 summons a day).
All that's moot if I run into a Chieftain, which would beat me up on the spot (I most likely wouldn't even get a turn).
*gets utterly manhandled by a mutant zombie goldfish who broke out after one round* Okay, I'm just plain not ready for Clan Dungeons yet. I'll try again once I'm Level 20.

As for the monsters Triple Factorial, I suggest hunting down your ultimate weapon first, and picking up a battered hubcap. Noodles of Fire take them out of the fight for 3 turns, giving you plenty of WotP and duck shots, so that a cannon should take them out afterwards. That's how I'm farming hobos right now.

Basic Mechanic: Every encounter gives 10 Scrip and +1% Boredom. Use scrip to buy stuff in the store. Different adventures can occur depending on your maintained boredness level.
Items you can get:
Paperclips:Use Multiple
1 = paperclip sproinger, a combat item
10 = paperclip-on tie: Accessory, Weapon & Spell Damage +5, Stat Gains Per Fight +1
15 = paperclip turban: Hat, Attributes +5, HP/MP +5, 5 damage reduction
20 = paperclip cape: Accessory, Regenerate 7 HP/MP per adventure
25 = paperclip pants: Pants, Initiative +15%, +2 Adventures Per Day
(EVERYONE SHOULD GET THIS) (More coming!)
Wear at least 4 items for Paperclippery Outfit (Effect currently unknown)
Workytime Tea: Reduces boredom by 25%, down to a minimum of 25%. Since boredom adventures can occur starting at about 50-70%, and those give less scrip, it is useful to use this when you hit 50% (unless you intend to get order forms)
CRIMBCO Lanyard: Accessory. When equipped, Crimbo enemies are no longer monster level ~10; instead, they scale to your level

The effect/item given by the blank-out is reusable a few times, but will eventually vanish after 5-6 uses, according to the wiki.
EDIT: It looks like the photocopier gives you an item upon use that is infinitely reusable, although it can only trigger once per day. It lets you fight a special opponent. I... I politely ask nobody to spoil the identity of this monster, nor to look it up - rather, that you should go obtain and fight it yourself. It only takes 20 adventures to get the cash for it.

I was abusing A Yuletide Bonfire to get my class buffs up for a bit. Using the MP gains from the tales to spam Springy Fusilli & Manicotti Meditation while using Cannelloni Cocoon once my HP gets too low to last another story. As long as I can afford the Marshmallows, I can make these last quite a while (I have over 1200 Adventures of Pasta Oneness and 700 for Springy Fusilli from only 25 Marshmallows). I haven't even eaten a Roasted Marshmallow yet, which I'm sure is the main item for the holiday.
CRIMBCO HQ's going to be up for the rest of Crimbo, right? I've only got 106 Adventures left right now (yet to eat or drink anything today, got all the Booze from the Barrel Full of Barrels, and did the Daily Dungeon). There's also a Myst day tomorrow, but that's basically weekly (every 8 days) and not an annual thing like this.

There's one skill book that's a passive one bonus adventure per rollover. I'd definitely hold onto that since it's looking to be tier 4 or 5 at least.

There's two that are particularly great, though:
A set of shotglasses, consumable items that increase adventure gains from booze (These could be worth a FORTUNE someday due to consumable nature)

Why would anyone use a Rat instead of a Volleyball/Sombrero type for stats, though? It doesn't get better than a Volleyball until like 60 pounds or something, and they make the monsters harder to beat, too.

Smiling Rat, not Purse Rat. Smiling Rat is exactly identical to the Volley (and likely to come up in the course of clearing the revamped Tavern).

There are various effects and equipment that can increase familiar weight. In particular, sugar shields, Empathy of the Newt, and familiar-specific equipment (for instance, a Ghuol Whelp can equip a tiny knife and fork) will increase weight by a bit.

The El Vibrato Megadrone can have it's weight buffed to 100 with the full Vibrato gear and the right punchcards. I'm not sure if it's functionally or effectively (As in it works like 100 pounds more or it does get heavy lol).

ANYWAYS. Excitement as I finally got up to the Naughty Sorceress and beat her to death. Did some stuff and finally ascended like I've been wanting to. I feel leet. Before I did though I decided to sell everything I had. Yes everything. Even those christmas goodies I had gotten. Fuck me.
Though, I am going hardcore now and don't ever really plan to do a normal or casual so I wasn't going to see those items ever again anyways but still. The thought that I did that kinda sickens me a bit. But alas, what's done is done.
I deposited all that extra meat into the clan coffers. It was about 120k by the time I was done buying trophies. Successful day I guess... I wonder if my promotion carried over through that ascension or not. I forgot to check to be honest. Oh well, guess I'll farm up another paperclip set tomorrow.
For those of you wondering, I'm now on a hardcore boozetefarian run as a seal-clubber under the The Blender Moon. This should prove to be fun times.

You can actually access those things in aftercore, which might not be zero play time if in that particular run you want to perm a hobopolis or slime tube skill or something. Also, there will come one day when you've permed everything you want to perm and just play normally from then on...

Finally finished the frat-hippy war by killing off The Man. Tried to wrap up the nemesis quest, too, but Stella keeps kicking my ass even when I bring along a turtle familiar and use all my buffs. Guess I've got some grinding to do.

You might look into using some items with Damage Reduction, actually. Unlike Damage Absorption (which is what Astral/Ghostly Shell and the power of your hat and pants give), Damage Reduction is subtracted directly from the damage an attack does.

I don't remember where the heck I got them from, but Mother's Little Helpers can be a great thing to have for that boss. Although it takes away pretty much all combat initiative (-1000%) it also gives you a whopping 50 damage reduction. It can be a huge help on that particular fight.

Pretty sure that's 50 Damage Absorption, plus 10 Damage Reduction. Still a good thing to have, though.
You should be able to pick those up at the Oasis.

Either way it can take off a chunk of damage you'd take otherwise so give it a try and see if it helps. If your a moxie class, you can buy hair sprays from the market for cheap for an easy stat boost. Other stats may have something similar.

I Have Handbook Chapters 1-3 now (Got Ch. 1 twice and used one), photographed that special monster (but have yet to fight it), 4 Shotglasses remaining, the Calendar (4 tries to get, got a pair of BGE Tiny Plastic Toys and said Shotglasses before then), some Blank-Out, all the Paperclippery and about 130 more Paperclips. I have about 700 Scrip left but only a bit over 250 Meat as I just bought Flavor of Magic. I got a big crack at this line while facing a Hideous Slideshow under Spirit of Bacon Grease:

I usually go Noodles, Mortar Shell, whatever's sure to give me enough damage to win if I have to (I've finished with the Spear at times) to save some MP should Sgt. Donald not act for a few fights.

A second Promotion is possible in CRIMBCO, and I just got it. Now I'm taking Endless Conference Calls for 30 Scrip a piece. I'll have the last chapter of the handbook real soon now (I've got the first 4 and have well over half the Scrip for the last one), after which I think I'll be farming up for additional Ch. 1 books to sell once I buy a store at the Mall (Calendars are pretty luck-based to get).
Also, that Lanyard is working wonders on my grinding. When I started working at CRIMBCO I was an early Level 12. Now I'm only 5 Myst away from Level 15, sporting 156-195-160 at this point. Doesn't affect the new Hobo Elves, though.
EDIT: Fought that special monster yesterday. I don't like what I see.

Got an accessory for +4 monster level from my calendar today. Whee? I tend to prefer damage/stat gains rather than making things even harder on myself personally but I guess once you get towards end game it can be useful for getting to Level 15 for stuff.

Each +4 to Monster Level gives one extra stat point, and I think +ML also affects meat drops. So yeah, even if it isn't useful now, it'll be handy later.

This, pretty much. Harder enemies sound like a bad idea, but the stat gains increase proportionally. It's the key to speedrunning pretty much any ascension - along with a hell of a lot of item boosters, and a few other things.
Also, I -think- the calendar goodies for the past few days (the new accessories) were set in stone.

I'm starting to think that farming Paperclips instead of Ch. 1 Handbooks is much more efficient Scrip-wise, and will likely be worth more in the Mall later on. Which would you prefer: 125 Scrip for some Pants that give two Adventures per day, or 1000 Scrip for a Skill that only gives one?
I feel like an idiot for buying five copies of that book (even though one of them is for me to perm if I ever get that far, along with one each of the other chapters). Then again, I already have 582 Paperclips, enough for eight full outfits or 23 pairs of Pants (There's probably someone with at least 2000 out there, maybe even 2500).

To be fair, people will want *both*. So I'm not sure if the books will be as valueless as you propose, !!!. Also, there's the fact the pants will be forever once you get them (in Hagnk's, if I understand ascension properly), whereas the book skills would require perming.

More importantly, the book skill can be hardcore permed, you can't access the pants at all during hardcore. So despite being fewer adventures, the book is a lot more useful to a lot of players.

I decided to abandon the nemesis quest for kittycore.
Although I believe it to be doable, I'm fed up with it cancelling the skills I need to be using to get into the lair itself, because that's a LOT of skill cancelling that little kitty does. Disco Bandits don't even normally NEED combat skills - it's pretty much only for the nemesis quest that you ever have to use any.
Other than that though, I'm doing surprisingly well with my kitty. It has only really twice been irritating - once while trying to farm items at Degrassi Knoll (It took me WAY too long to get all the stuff for a meat maid, meatcar, and something else I needed from there. Seriously. Everything would have dropped at least 2 extra times before I got everything), and the second while trying to use the rampaging adding machine, but that was just an irritation not a serious threat or loss of turns.
I am dreading the number of times I will be faceowned by the sorceress' tower monsters due to item use denial

Today's the final day of Crimbo, and that means if you're grinding for something like books or BGE form items go until you can no more (1 Drunkenness away from falling-down drunk, completely full, and 0 Adventures remaining).
Here's where I'm at right now:
- 240 Adventures, and can gain no more today (15 Full, 19 Drunk)
- 47% Boredom and 1240 Scrip
- 12 copies of Ch. 1 of the Handbook, a copy each of the other Chapters, the entire Paperclippery line of equipment, a Photocopier (with a copy of
my ass
as well), 2 bottles of Blank-Out, and 582 Paperclips - 10 BGE Shotglasses, 2 Tiny Plastic Toys, and 2 Calendars
I'm going for Books all the way for my last rush (I'll almost surely have at least 15 copies of Ch. 1). What are you guys aiming for?
EDIT: Finished. Ended with 4750 Scrip, so I got 4 more copies of Ch. 1, 3 more photocopiers, and 3 more bottles of Blank-Out. Now to take a day or two from my usual roaming about and questing to get my Adventures back up (I can't believe I'm Lv. 17 and I'm not even halfway done with the Quest for the Holy MacGuffin yet).

The dietary paths are definitely doable but they severely limit your adventures since you're denying yourself some amount of food or booze (or both). I'd suggest saving them for later if you want to do them just as a matter of not driving yourself insane.
Hardcore is a lot more doable than the name would have you believe. The only time I could see you having some issues are with gathering shit for the Naughty Sorceress' lair or farming items for certain quests. But even then it's just a test of patience more so than actually being a difficulty curve. Definitely go for Hardcore if you've been considering it at all.
Picking a moon sign will determine what extra area you have access to for the run.
Mysticality signs get Little Canadia which has access to jewelry making for some powerful little accessories and a restaurant where one can buy food (eaten on purchase).
Moxie signs get The Gnomish Gnomad's Camp which has access to The Micromicrobrewery which sells alcohol (consumed on purchase. Also has the Supertinkerer which can combine 3 items at once (mostly for making a Clockwork Maid) and an area where you can learn certain skills including Torso Awaregness (allows you to wear shirts).
Muscle signs get Inside Degrassi Knoll which has access to The Plunger who can combine items for free without meat paste, a general store where you can buy mechanical parts and gear (as well as detuned radios) and Innabox who can smith items for free without using an adventure.
Each area also has it's own gym-type area (like the tanning bed in our clan) for it's specific stat, though they generally aren't worth using. Don't feel as if you need to match class and moon signs, it really doesn't matter much. I'm a Seal Clubber under a Moxie moon for instance. At any rate though, each area is worth getting so it's just mostly up to your personal preference.

Note that the sign-specific gyms are better for raising the stats than clan gym equipment.

And, given enough patience, you can make gloomy black mushrooms, which can be used to make a spooky gravy fairy, as well as trade one for an oily golden mushroom, to make a sleazy gravy fairy. :3

The mushroom field, thanks to Mushroom Fermenting Solution, can also produce a very limited quantity of some of the best booze in the game if you know what you're doing.

Either way, the generally accepted use for them is that you can adventure in them while falling-down drunk or in an emergency (Like 'FIVE MINUTES TILL ROLLOVER' emergency) in order to avoid losing adventures to the 200-turn cap.
I have done this before. At least I get more moxie instead of just letting those adventures go to waste.

You can also get an item from the Penultimate Fantasy Airship that can remove any effect. It is appropriately named after numerous FF status curing items. Idk if it can cure the Goofball withdrawal, but I would assume so, it can cure Beaten Up and many other effects. Btw, you pick what effect gets removed, and 1 effect per use.

Not quite. Like I said, the all-purpose cleaner can cure it, but it does replace it with a much shorter, much less detrimental effect. Not really a big deal in comparison, though. (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/All-purpose_cleaner)

IIRC, It takes a grand total of 126/127 Adventures + whatever you consume on the 1st, 2nd and possibly 3rd sidequest, thats for each side, a total of either 252 or 254 Adventures of just fighting both sides, split evenly :) With the right balence of when you do the sidequests, that is all you need.
Now, lets assume it's 126 for each side, + 20 adventures exact for the sidequests needed to be done, I just need to get an effect, any effect, to say.... 200 Adventures, then do the sidequests at certain points then switch to doing the same on the other side once it gets to the correct amount of adventures remaining. In this example, that's a total of 292 adventures, an amount obtainable in 2-4 days, pending on food and booze consumed.
If I can do this correctly, it WILL have met the main part of getting the Wossname.

The biggest tip I can give for the wossname is
that the battlefield images change depending on the population of a side. Check the filename for the side of the battlefield you're curious about - the closer the number in the filename is to 31, the closer you are. 31 is the target - if it hits 32, then you've gone too far D:

I am dumb and bad at strategizing, so I just used my familiars to keep track of my kills. :V So yeah, I took the long way, 999 individual kills on both sides. On the plus side, that got me max item drops, and a few sweet side benefits like this (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Orange_peel_hat).
This has one downside as far as I can tell: if it's the Feast of Boris or something, you'll encounter monsters on the battlefield that won't count towards your frat/hippy kill count, but will up your familiar's kill count. Keep track of those, if you do use a familiar to help count your kills.

Even with HC it's kinda tempting (there's always aftercore!), but I think I'd rather get a Mr. Store familiar at some point, or alternately, judging by the patterns of the last few years, next month is very likely to be some sort of tome since this month was a foldable.

I'll definitely be going for the knife as my first Mr. Store purchase now that I remember that I have an Amazon account linked to my bank account. I may not be using it once I start HC, but it'll help greatly in the short term and will probably be selling for a nice sum of Meat at the Mall later even if it can't be used in HC. Moondial is likely the main attraction, being a +4 Adv/Day off-hand item.
Speaking of things that will be expensive in the Mall, I remember someone earlier talking about the CRIMBCO Employee Handbook (Ch.1) "looking to be tier 4 or 5 at least." Can someone clue me in on these? I don't even want to guess how much items in those tiers are (I was thinking 1-2 million Meat, but I'm probably way off).

Definitely don't get more than one if I'm lucky when I'm getting other medals, but to be fair I've done the lots-of-sidequests other medals rather than the few-sidequests ones. If I keep at the game for long enough I do intend to get one of every medal, if only because the bumcheek profiler displays which medals you've gotten. >_>

War hero drops are fun. At this point, I've fought all of the war heroes on both sides except Neil for the Hippies and the Next-Generation Frat Boy for the Frat Boys. If no other war hero drop is worth the effort, it's this (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Wreath_of_laurels) one. I love it and treasure it. (And the Natty Blue Ascot, which sells really high and REALLY fast for some ungodly reason.)

The hat is awesome, to be honest - there's extremely little equipment in the game that will add to all of your elemental resistances simultaneously, and especially not to that kind of degree (I think the only one that does better is a goddamn Ultra-rare). If you ever plan to try to delve to the 500th Floor of Fernswarthy's Basement, you're going to be extremely thankful for things like this to add huge elemental resistance.
As for the button, it's a big jump in monster level. One of the biggest jumps that is obtainable that isn't a former Item of the Month (Ice Sickles) or an Ultra-Rare (Hockey Stick), etc etc. ; it's really valuable to those who want to speedrun on normal.
ML adds to a monster's difficulty, yes - but it also adds to stat gains after battle (At a rate of +4ML = a guaranteed +1 stat gain; so that is +3.75 stats). A bonus like that might initially seem small, especially in the later game - but any level of boosting will add up. It especially helps early on, or when returning to lower-levelled areas out of a need to backfarm; but with skills and buffs, you can take on enemies of a much higher level than yourself as well, and thus speed through your levelling much faster. The longer you have ML equipped and the higher the ML total is, the more the effect magnifies as you progress - especially over the course of runs that last a few hundred adventures.

Welp. Yesterday was going to be the last day of Kittycore. It was, in fact, not the cat that stopped me.
Yesterday, I drank the wrong ! potion and was put over the drunkenness limit. I figured that was alright; it means I just had a bunch of extra adventures today. And then today, the first five tower monsters were all monsters I didn't have the items for. Including the goddamn Black Pepper, famously the most potentially irritating (especially on Bad Moon), because it comes from a 15% drop that isn't even guaranteed to give you Black Pepper upon use. Augh.
It took up too many turns. And of course, I failed to get the full Knob Goblin Elite Guard outfit (Kitty knocked a piece away), so I can't get the pet-buffing spray, so I couldn't shortcut through some of the raising a familiar process for the lair... and ran out of adventures. Sigh.
WELP! Tomorrow, I end Kittycore and put my kitty into its terrarium. FOREVER.

Wow, I dunno about you, but I'm usually pretty patient when it comes to grinding and drops. Sorry you had to go through all that. But one more day isn't gonna kill ya. :P
I wish there was an option to customize your terrarium, so you could trap the cat in a wall of linoleum and put up a sign that says "DO NOT OPEN, EVER." Not that the cat itself did anything to actively attack you, it just liked to screw you over. But when you finish it, you can say you did it, and succeeded!

A bit of both.
The thing about Bad Moon, is that it is really up to your route - you get nothing from previous runs, so it doesn't matter. It's all down to how you do what you do with your class and your general route. Plus it'll score me a full set of Brimstone equipment that I can be carting around in Aftercore once I return to Hardcore runs, plus some perm'd skills, etc.
So it'll be... interesting.

Other than that, I'm working on building up bounties (finally) and will be starting up the war soon (just need a flaregun, planning on going for Wossname).

The slime collection things look like it might take a bit long. and I'm not running out of reagents any time soon. Also, I'm planning on doing a basement dive this run since, well, I'm already doing a Sauceror run and all, so there's plenty of time for the epic accessory to benefit me.

I got one after gnawing out at around 6:45 PM CT (a little over 2 hours in the cage I think), so I'm covered there. I think I'm about halfway through the Sewers at this point (I see 5 images there).
And thanks to whoever left the C.H.U.M. chum in the stash (I can't pickpocket myself yet, though I have the Pasta Guardian that can do so later on). Unfortunate dumplings will probably help speed up my path through the Sewers.

As usual for me, I rushed in without thinking a few times and got my ass handed to me until I finally decided to use, you know, some actual strategy, at which point I did more or less the same thing as you, except with less cold damage from me and more from Anathe the Frozen Gravy Fairy. And also, Funk Bluegrass Fusion just fried the poor girl. After I was done with that, I then went and got all the elemental trophies while I was at it. What an awesome finish to the run. 8)

You should. Doing each of the quests at least once is a good idea; they're fun, you get some unique skills out of them and a new familiar, and the legendary epic weapon is bro-tier.
Also I finally remembered that I'm playing this after the marathon distracted me, and proceeded to get shit done at ridiculous speeds for once - to the point where I was stopping by the Battlefield for the first time in years because I actually happened to unlock the opportunity while I was still low enough level.

Good thing I carelessly farmed up so much Meat over the past few days, then (Castle + 16% Meat Drop outfit = nice Meat haul for a first-ascention day). Had to buy my Wads from the Mall (Myst class, can't pulverize) and burned ~70k Meat (had ~110k before, now under 43k) to get the book and some surplus (40k should suffice if you buy the Wads now, assuming you're not in Ronin/HC).

I can't, but I can tell you this: You can pay right from your storage, if you have enough. And yes, it's a bit of a pain.
Apart from that though, you could access the ancestral storage if you defeat the naughty sorceress today and free the king - once you do that you're in aftercore, and can withdraw freely.

The point is, I don't have enough wads in my storage (only 61), and I'm not leaving hardcore today since I'm still level 11, and obviously by the time I can leave the trader would be gone.
Well, I guess since that this skill isn't THAT useful, even if I can't get anyone to help me today I'll just buy the book when I'm out of HC. It doesn't seem that useful anyways, certainly not enough for me to drop HC over it. (I'd still appreciate if someone can help me get one today, though.)

Kung-Fu Hustle is hella fun. I ascended DB and permed it. It's crazy on a low level character. Especially when the +9 spooky damage intrinsic kicks in.

Yes; they also show up in Bad Moon, and even Ronin (the early phase of normal). The catch, of course, is that until your Ronin period wears off/you smash the prism to free the king, you're unable to open any of them. You'll never lose the boxes and their contents though, and I believe the game itself reminds you if you try to ascend with unopened packages.
Also... yeah, it seems like it might be awesome at low levels, when achieving even +3/+6 damage becomes really tricky. And wouldn't you know it I LOVE being a Disco Bandit 8D

Well, first off: The book is only available today. The travelling trader always leaves the day after he shows up and never comes back with the same item twice. This means it's rare.
Second, twinkly wads would normally be aquired by a character with Pulverize (The level 15 seal clubber skill) which lets you turn unneeded equipment into spleen consumables. If you can't make them yourself, you'd have to buy them.
Third is what the book actually does. It gives you a skill, only usable by Disco Bandits, that allows them to get damage bonuses when unarmed. Why is this useful? Well, it's quite possible this will actually be increasing the damage you do (It's believed to be +(3*level) damage currently) over the weak weapons available early on. More than that, apparently remaining unarmed begins triggering additional buffs (Including more damage). The moment you equip any weapon or off-hand item, it will reset; but it still looks like it could be really awesome

This will all depend on if moxie is used to calculate the hit rate of those attacks.
If it does, we're golden. Even if we're not, early game you won't be doing more than 2-3 damage for a good while anyway, and it's not until the higher levels when better weapons are available that your stats start really dividing up anyway. It'll help make early battles that much easier and give less chance for enemies to potentially critical. It also has the side effect of adding extra bonuses over prolonged use (+50% initiative after 10 turns; +[level*3] spooky damage after 20 turns; +20% item drops after 30 turns)

Given that it's a passive that adds effect upon battling unarmed, I don't think it changes the nature of unarmed combat (ie using muscle for to-hit). And of course, since you're unarmed, no auto-hit shieldbutt or (L)TS either.
It might actually be of some use to Mysticality classes this way, though - they can still cast spells fine, and extra item drop is always nice, especially early on since they're unlikely to get anywhere close to 20% +items with weapon and offhand.

Note to self: NS in hardcore myst classes runs are FREAKING ANNOYING.
I spent practically every turn I got yesterday (and it was oyster day too!) just to get beat up by her and having to farm red pixel potions over and over again. Today I got pissed and went to the ballroom until I got about 205 boosted Moxie and took her down that way. Ended with a 16 day run. Sigh.
Since I'm in a Sauceror run anyways, I think I'll do a basement dive as saucerors have it easier. Anyone have good tips for levelling?

Well, deuce. Any tips on how to beat the Bonerdagon with a Sauceror? I can reduce his damage to a reasonable level with my buffs, but he keeps blocking all my skills so I can't do any damage. Do I need to equip some big weapons and just try to bash his head in with normal attacks or something?
EDIT: Nevermind, I managed to kill him in one shot with a critical hit hot-elemental Saucestorm. Hells yeah!

Honestly, I did not know those items even existed until they dropped for me. Definitely should help ease things up, although they're only like a 1% base drop rate, so the fact that I got two is a miracle expect to not find any.

I'd recommend you start after you get some skills permed (and ideally, with some Hardcore reward equipment, especially +Muscle ones), since there are events down there that are pass/fail based on your max HP.
Though Jana can help me raise my stats very quickly, he can't help with those ;_;

HP tests are easily bought out. DA counts towards them.
MP tests are the things that suck. So if you're going to wait until HC Perms, I'd suggest Wisdom of the Elder Tortoises, at the least.
Though, it's FULLY doable with no perms, you just need to be high level with a fair amount of meat. It took me close to a million, but that was also because I was being rather inefficient. (Well, a 1.5 mil if you include my parrot). It really depends on class.

Also, FINALLY started the War yesterday. Going for Wossname (since I need an Around-the-world for a chefstaff); currently at 65-65 with opposing first sidequests done. Those Zerg Rushes hurt, and having only one way of increasing combat rate (some reodorant) made Sonofa Beach a bit annoying.

To be honest, I didn't even notice that I could've gotten an ATW after the war regardless of how I cleared it until about halfway through.
Generic Summer Holiday was quite a blessing for grinding through the latter part of the War since I'm so high-leveled (+21 Myst stats/fight which I ground quite a bit; I still have over 250 Adventures of it left). A 35-lb Sombrero helps, too.
Myst day tomorrow (KoL-wise; rollover's already happened). Hopefully I'll have power that day (I did this day now b/c I'm fairly sure it'll be out sometime tomorrow) so I can flush the Haunted Toilet another 66,000 or so times.

I on a whim decided to buy the Cute Angel (this month's special) and then realised I can't set it up in my terrarium.
I was going to start randomly shooting people with arrows forever, but that'll have to wait until I'm done my Bad Moon cycle... or at least reach the Disco Bandit segment of it, since I'll probably do that in just Hardcore or summat.

--me eating to 15 fullness right from the start, so I limited the buffs I could get/couldn't use Dr. Lucifers for MP restoring
--ran out of meat for a very late MP test (thanks again, UK)
--all of my potion buffs ran out on the very last test, so I had to autosell some things to get my Mysticality back up
But I finally have a telescope, and can ascend as soon as I get the 500-pound familiar weight trophy. It's been a long, but great run. :3

Slime tube is good stuff. Slimy cysts and marbles and stuff are very much worth the time and effort, and the rewards from fighting Mother Slime are pretty good for how relatively simple it is to beat her down. The Slimesuit, as I have mentioned before, is quite awesome.

Exactly. If it seems like it's variating is due to certain stuff killing several hobos at once (Yodeling, Scarehobos, etc).

Also, I'd say it's going to take three or four days, not two days. After I mostly clear PLD, I'll need to farm a bit so I can max my item plus for those fights. Leaning towards three days as is though, I have Zombo ready to be smacked, and am just leaving him so I can hit him and Chester in one swell foop.

Also: as far as Pasta Guardians go, apparently the Spice Ghost is considered the most useful for speed-play, because it can generate you extra spices (which make great food and help make eggnog, which is good if you don't have advanced cocktailcrafting). Not having actually played a pastamancer myself, take this with a grain of salt.

I don't know the ins and outs of speed much either but the Hogs of Destiny guide for Bad Moon seems to confirm this - it pretty much suggests using that from as soon as you get it. I know I certainly like not having to go out of my way to get spices.

Basically, Slime Tube should be Monster Level 120 140 right now. All I really need is people to adventure in it until they get the noncombat adventure (5% chance by default) and choose to either "Squeeze the Gall Bladder" [which will add +20ML to the zone permanently, allowing it to be completed faster by shaving off an effective one extra slime kill per 20 killed - since this isn't a speed run it's less important], or what I'd prefer, "Tickle the Uvula" [which will enable the creation of a single slime-covered item any player who happens to equip the right stuff while fighting; these items are great for fighting in the tube].
The complication? Whenever you battle there, you get "Covered in Slime" effect, which will deal increasingly powerful damage to you every turn as it heads towards wearing off - be sure to wipe it off with a chamoix from the nearby bucket (we've got lots) after every battle or every other battle; or else the damage will quickly ramp up into something likely unmanageable.
The reason I have to ask for help is that individual players can only perform one of the non-combats each time the tube opens, and even then, only once regardless of what their choice is. And each can only be done a total of 5 times regardless of the number of players attempting. After that, even if you still get the adventure, whatever choice you make just kicks you out of the noncombat without any adventures lost.

Slime-covered greaves. They are awesome. I got a ton of rusty greaves from the sea floor, aw yeah.
I think my favourite slime item I have so far is the slime-covered club, simply because it's a one-handed item (yay, Ellsbury's Skull!) and hits pretty darn hard, even if it's not technically quite as powerful as a slime-covered shovel. The slime-covered lantern is also good stuff, but the original of that is a fair bit harder to get.

As far as I know, Railgun, myself, rdj, and RegalStar have recently done our first basements runs on little to no skills (rdj and I did AT runs before ever ascending, since we were also getting the level 30 trophy. It was a HUGE pain in the ass.) I'm sure others have but those are the ones I remember since lol IRC.
And yeah, I'll be doing BMBC my next run actually. Just did Hobopolis in aftercore since I had an 18 code binder I wanted to use. Hmm...since I got the clockwork key trophy I'm probably going to be ascending next rollover.
EDIT: Changed my mind! I'm going to save up 1.2 million meat so I can get a zombie pineal gland to have most of the parts of a ninja pirate zombie robot! I can actually build this I think!

We should be coming in at the 900-1000 adventures range. (Admittedly I've been adventuring with very little ML for a while to get tiny cysts and wads of rags and stuff!), so she shouldn't be too bad - it's the part where she needs someone capable of hitting all elements that's makes it sort of completely out of my reach!

The alternate method for the demon name is as follows:
*Figure out what your snake looks like when it's finished
*Put the empty space where the head would be
*Follow the finished snake's body to the tail
*When it moves to the end of where the snake would be, you will get a demon's name.
...Can... someone try this backwards? Start at the tail...?

Considering they've had grimoires for years and there's a fair amount of Alice in Wonderland references in past March items, yes you are, and even if you weren't you should just suck it up.

Grimoires are one of the book types that have been around previously. In KoL, Tomes are spellbooks with a 3/day limit and generally pretty direct applications; Librams are infinite-use spellbooks that increase in cost every time they are used in a single day; and Grimoires are 1/day... 'spells' that are a little more abstract or less directly useful.
"Alice" has to do with March's item of the month always referencing Alice In Wonderland (White Hare, for instance), which also explains the fact that it's card soldiers - all one big Alice in Wonderland reference (seen here (http://www.feesher.com/aa5.gif)). And finally, rainbow tints on foil cards is actually not that unusual!
It is, however, an extremely amusing co-incidence that it happens that way!

Advice for Hardcore folks who need stat boosts but don't have Advanced Saucecrafting: the Cobb's Knob Laboratory has Alchemists in it who drop half-baked potions. Drinking one will give you a random reagent potion effect. They're pretty helpful!
I don't know if it includes the "always fumble" effect yet, but even if it does, it can easily be removed with a green echo eye(ry if you have one.

My Bad Moon no familiar run is going decent for now. It's been so long that I've ascended that I've forgotten what to do for quests, unless I resort to the wiki. Currently a Disco Bandit, and working on the Nemesis quest. Gotta see how I'm going to fight the Bonerdagon with the Hellevator set to 10.

Drunksgiving will likely never happen again either (I'm pretty sure KoL won't last the years it'll take to get this again or a Starch 3 Thanksgiving), so these special drops are certainly worth keeping for a while.
I had plans for a Normal-HCO-BMBC start, but thanks to this merger of events I'll likely Ascend Casually today instead.

Yep. There were really only three potentially painful parts:
*The Guy Made of Bees, which can be skipped, realisitically; I just like to take him down for the Arena sidequest. Fortunately I only had one sabotaged attempt between two Kittycores
*The Tower Monsters. I once got stopped six times in a row, then found out the next one I needed Black Pepper for and it took me about 60 adventures to get it.
*The Shadow. I never had this one go too easy but I always funksling red pixel potions and I always have a lot, so it's not really that bad.

The Nemesis quest's volcano segment has some really weird difficulty. In general I don't try to do those segments too much until I'm near the end of the normal game; it just makes things way easier, and honestly, the final battle with your nemesis is way harder than the NS.
(Disco Bandit nemesis might be the exception though due to its mechanic)

Nah, just stupid. I didn't know what I was doing, so once I finally encountered a mother hellseal (after clobbering far too many pups), she killed me a bunch of times for far over my HP limit. Eventually, I just adopted the strategy I used for stuff undersea last ascension-- nurse hat (and now that I have torso awaregness, sea salt scrubs), stunning (since I can't use my noodles anymore, I went for chloroform rags instead), and sauceror potions.
It was all dumb luck, really :<

Mother Hellseals are very Oh Exploitable EXP if you know what you're doing with them. (Considering they can have the highest ML of any easily-fightable monster in the game...) But, if you dont know what you're doing, they make the Seal Clubber quest the worst thing ever.
Meanwhile I'm really not enjoying Bad Moon Pastamancery. I have No Money and honestly at the point I'm at, I'm doing more by beating shit up with my Greek Pasta of Peril in melee than with my spells.

The reason that this is important is that you can get the pickle without needing to be able to survive combat (For the people who ascended very recently; Spectral Pickle Factory is pretty high level afterall!)

I have had the planets align - I'm two days in and I'm pretty much dead on for speedrunning objectives as far as the bad moon guide is concerned! It's... kind of spooky. I'll have to ruin it anyway though (I have to gather a couple hundred colored vials!), so I don't care too much.

I have had the planets align - I'm two days in and I'm pretty much dead on for speedrunning objectives as far as the bad moon guide is concerned! It's... kind of spooky. I'll have to ruin it anyway though (I have to gather a couple hundred colored vials!), so I don't care too much.
Heyyyy, what a coincidence, I started my 4th on the loop a few days back (though as an AT, and not nearly as smoothly, even before you consider I'm still doing lucre for my Olfaction throughout my run too =P)

You need access to Icy Peak, to get a hideous egg. Though after that, all you need to do is defeat skeletons. The number of skeletons defeated per adventure depends on your weapon and bonus damage.

I dunno if I'm doing this the right way, I'm only using a Zim Merman's guitar (200 base + 30 bonus ranged) that gives me 26 kills per adv.

That's pretty much the basic Ranged weapon- iirc you have el vibrato stuff, so rarely for this, I reccomend you just stuff your el vibrato full of attack punchcards. Should get you more!

Eh, works! I get about 30 kills per adv. The thing is that now you can get 60+ kills with +item so yeah :V

Decided I'd just close my eyes and click [buy] on a few medium slimy cysts in hopes of getting two lawn darts for maximizing HP gains at
the Bonewall
. The first two I bought provided neither lawn darts I was looking for, but an old-school flying disc and a Coily (yessss <333). I decided to buy two more, and got two lawn darts. \o/
Oh, and with full gear-- nurse's cap, sea salt scrubs, lawn dart in main hand, lawn dart in off hand, hopping socks, bejeweled pledge pin, and shiny hood ornament = +1570 HP, and I was killing 40-41 skeletons per adventure.
. I recommend doing this to anyone who has the meat to spare. I think this is the first time I've made a stupid frivolous purchase like this and have it pay off ._.

Second choice at the Battleship grants skeleton kills for Accordian Thief songs stuck in your head. Get yourself some Buff Bots, load yourself up with high level songs. Got ~40 skeletons with Phat Leon's, Polka of Plenty, and Aria of Annoyance.

I honestly thought
Valhalla was going to be destroyed at Rollover
yesterday (Friday the 13th), and wound up wasting 36 A.W.O.L. Commendations on the Tattoo (3 stages of it, anyway) and the Skillbook.
Today, I sold my last Mr.A and bought all sorts of stuff to buff Meat drops for the Train's Meat car. I managed to get 41 more Commendations, but
I now have less than 10k Meat left. Despite this, I still hope this goes at least one more day so I can get the last 9 I need for the aviator cap.
Completely drained my Adventures both days, and even took my free sample of Goofballs yesterday for its next-day Withdrawl to lower my max HP and MP
just in case (I had some all-purpose cleaner waiting if the invasion did end
).
Now that I've said all this, it'll probably end this Rollover and make these Commendations a waste. Lord knows how expensive that cap will be in the Mall (I'm surprised it's even tradable).

In all seriousness- I am digging beecore. I have forgotten what DEFEAT AND PAIN tasted like. This is a refreshing reminder, and it's certainly -way- more interesting and fun than normal HC. My only hope is that it doesn't give out equips at the end based on class or I'm going to have to do 5 more runs, and make all 6 under 15 days to get them while beecore is profitable.
I suppose this means I'm a masochist now though. Damnit.

No, it's not.
Sauceror has damage caps that make the value of bonus spell damage highly limited, and work best when they're able to maintain an extremely high MP count for all of their buffs. In Bad Moon, that can be really, really hard, especially with the fact that you will be playing with very little meat most of the time.
It's... argh I hate it.

So I've again started contemplating the rumpus room furniture. We started with meat plants when we were all young and broke, but at least a couple slots might now be better served by +adv furniture instead, for example. I'm gonna do ahead and break down each changeable (i.e. not the ball pit :V) slot's items: bold is our current item, italics are what I'm considering a change to if we change.
In general, +adv and meat-giving items are not usable in hardcore or ronin; I have no idea about +PVP fights items but I'm pretty sure no one in our clan actually gives a crap. Stat gyms are usable at any time, but generally meh.
A Nail in the Wall:
- Girls of Loathing Calendar (Members receive 3 extra Adventures per day - 50,000 Meat)
- Boys of Loathing Calendar (Members receive 3 extra Adventures per day - 50,000 Meat)

An Empty Bookshelf: A Collection of Self-Help Books (Members receive 5 extra Adventures per day - 100,000 Meat) Which is to say, no change.
An Unused Outlet: A Jukebox (Members can listen to songs, granting beneficial effects - 150,000 Meat) We had this for a while before the crane game, and I found it pretty useful. The only interesting things from the crane game are the Heart Necklace and the pack of KWE trading cards.
An Empty Endtable: An Inspirational Desk Calendar (Members receive 1 extra Adventure per day - 20,000 Meat)
A Threadbare Rug: A Tan-U-Lots Tanning Bed (Allows members to improve their Moxie - 50,000 Meat)

Why did I never see this thread before. (probably because I don't pay any attention to this forum at all.)
If anyone cares, I'm the leader of a clan called Random Gamers and Candy Clan, that has been seeing too much inactivity lately. It's the clan of the people who helped me get into the game back in 2006 (and am now the leader on account of how most of the other people sadly have ceased caring about the game), so I do have kind of a personal connection to it, and is a bit unwilling to leave it, even though the sad truth is that I forked over two Mr. A's myself when it was time to get the clan shower. Only one donated for anf the other from the mall, but stil... fully-stocked Rumpus Room (for what we deemed to be the most beneficial for both Hardcore and Aftercore - Calendar, Self-Help Books, Klaw Machine, Sofa, Meat Bush, Meat Plant and a ball pit with a downright sad amount of balls) and VIP Lounge (everything). I'm not asking anyone to join it unless you want to, but I will welcome anyone who does.
90+ ascensions and counting, and one of the few remaining dedicated HCT ascenders in the kingdom... just got done with a long string of 100% familiar runs, so now I can finally get back to playing just like I want to.

This would be wonderful because in beecore you have nothing but the god damn ground most of the time. Hell, right now I'd gain 50 more HP and MP if we had the sofa and it would be very helpful. Given many others are about to enter beecore as well, I think a lot of people could get use of this.)

Switch whatever is necessary for more adventures-- the meat plants were nice when just starting, but once you're able to meatgrind, you can get that much in just a couple adventures (if not more). Also in favor of ditching the claw machine for the jukebox or something (I've got multiples upon multiples of all the stuffed toys it has to offer, and they don't really serve a purpose beyond 'ooooh I want to collect them all', so. :P )

OK yeah this didn't dawn on me. I would totally be cool with putting up a comfy sofa at the very least until Bees Hate You is no longer the current seasonal challenge, if not for the forseeable future.

Ah, the comfy sofa being usable in Beecore hadn't occurred to me either. In that case, yeah, you should go for that (until you guys perm Disco Power Nap, at least BV). Also, sandcastles! But those use bricks of sand :(
Any change we make now doesn't have to be permanent, so I change my vote to Comfy Sofa at least until beecore is no longer the seasonal challenge.

OK, on further reading the jukebox is not usable in HC/ronin, the wiki just didn't say near the start like the soda and snack machines did. >=|
I think it's still the best choice because the claw game isn't really good for anything besides a little extra day 1 pocket money, but for the moment I'm going to make the other changes but leave that in case anyone's got an opinion with that error of mine corrected. :3
