Title: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: jester147 on March 17, 2015, 11:33:23 AM
I found a thread for rhythm games, but it's dead, so I decided to make a new one.

How many people here play rhythm games? I bet there would be lots of people.

Here in Indonesia, there's lots of rhythm games to play. The most popular one here is Pump It Up. IIRC it's also the most updated than any other rhythm game arcades.

There's also maimai, made by Sega. It's my favorite rhythm game as of now. maimai is a rhythm game where you press on buttons on what can be said as front-loader washing machine. There's also sliding, and you can play entirely by touchscreen.

Other things include: Technika, Danz Base, Rhythmvaders (or Groove Coaster), and Taiko no Tatsujin.

Sadly there's no new Bemani installments in Indonesia, except jubeat, if the informations are correct. There are only old installments from the Bemani franchise. DDR is dead here, completely replaced by PIU. There's no pop'n'music, and IIDX is extremely rare.

Regarding that, how does export works anyway? I wish we can have nice things, not just specific country only :(. maimai Orange Plus is already released, yet here it's still Green Plus, but there are some arcades that are already Orange, but their song list isn't complete. Also I would like to try Sound Voltex too.

What about you? What rhythm games do you like?

Maimai in Indonesia? Where?

My favorite rhythm game is Rhythmvaders. I also play maimai and Pump it Up, but I can't play Pump well because I have Patchouli level of stamina.

I'm getting better at IIDX and Pop'n but still kinda beginner-ish levels (I can only do up to level 8s in IIDX and 33s in Pop'n). In fact I can name so many rhythm games I've played and am interested in, like Jubeat, Reflec Beat, etc, as well as some decently good rhythm games like Dynamix, Deemo, and Tone Sphere.

However, my "main" games atm are Sound Voltex (halfway through clearing all the 15s in SDVX II), ITG2/DDR (Mostly ITG2 because DDR never gets updated here, stuck in Shittynova 2), and stepmania (hand in hand with ITG2 as I make files for ITG2 customs through Stepmania).

I guess I should mention Project Diva since that's also a rhythm game that can be played here, but I've already got Excellents on every song so I don't have much else to do except Perfect everything which I don't want to go out of my way to do.

I used to play a lot of Technika 3 when the service was still alive. I'm still able to play it at arcades through "special means" (not allowed to talk about the service due to recent happenings), but I kinda lost my drive for the game now that I play Sound Voltex at my friend's house (again, can't say how for the same reason as Technika 3, on top of the rules in this board). I highly recommend Sound Voltex for people in this board especially considering the amount of Touhou arranges that are in it. And it's not even just the usual nico nico douga stuff, but it also has really good arranges like some FELT and Kishida Kyoudan songs in it, as well as completely new Touhou arrange originals specifically made for the game that you can't really hear anywhere else.

I also want to play Beatstream but there's no way for me to play it here atm. Maybe sometime next year I can :V.

Oh, and Rock Band 4 is announced so I can get back into this game...if I had a next gen console ;_;

Maimai in Indonesia? Where?

Most places, mine is in Supermall Karawaci. Expect any Amazone and FunWorld to have one too. Timezone in Cibubur and Depok are already Orange, when are the others will be Orange? ;-;. There's also some outside Jakarta too, Medan, Manado, and so on.

And that is the reason why I want SDVX to be brought to Indonesia. I want to play the Touhou arranges. But now most Japanese rhythm games will have at least one Touhou and Vocaloid songs, most likely Senbonzakura and Bad Apple. For Touhou, in maimai there's Buta-Otome songs, in Rhythmvaders, there's many awesome songs, I think RV has the best Touhou arranges than any rhythm game. Taiko no Tatsujin has Demetori arrange of Necrofantasia and Gensou Mangekyou Opening.

Really wish the arcades in Indonesia are well updated tho. Not to mention the maintenance, which is far from good, except PIU and possibly Technika.

Thinking about breaking out the DDR Pad so I could practice Touhou songs on Stepmania.  Now that I know that the state Anime Convention I go to features DDR, I feel motivated to start getting back to the exercising for it owo;;

Oh man, I need to get back to DDRing...So many 10s I still havent beaten yet that I want to eventually, plus by now Im sure my stamina is shot since I only ever play at cons nowadays.  (Though I DID manage some decently tough sets at MAGFest even at like 1-2am, so maybe not.)

Rhythm Game thread! :]

I remember how we used to have a rhythm game therad years ago when I was still really into jubeat :v

My fav quickly became SDVX when it came out in Hong Kong, I got to the point where I'm clearing lv16s, and AAA-ing many lv15s (most notably hard stuff like Quietus Ray and 金縛りの逢を)
But then I have to study in US so no sdvx. Welp. So I main iidx now. (Thanks R1s)

Started normal clearing lv11s on iidx a few months ago and hard clearing the easy ones. At 8th dan right now, just tried 9th dan and reached halfway into Sampling Paradise. I can't freaking do Holic and it's killing me down to 30% into the 2nd song which sucks. Anyways, I can't handle the note density in Mamonis anyways so even if I went in at a higher % than like 40 I don't think I could do it. Back to practicing I guess.
I've also neglected practicing random at all, and I heard people saying it's kinda important to do. Why is that?

Also, for people who don't follow SDVX, they had a DC song contest last year, which I think was pretty cool since those songs are new and gets less love. (like, the EoSD one just brought us more UNOwen remixes than we ever needed...) The songs are all released and Mist in Hell is my favourite out of the bunch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkDewAnnw4g
Mist Lake was a surprisingly popular remix choice in the contest, having like 3 remixes or something.
I'm disappointed Stage 5 theme got no love :< But there's a vocal Reverse Ideology which was pretty cool I guess.

4th KAC (Konami Arcade Championship) Re-SDVX Finals to be held 11:30am Japan time today
It will be streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c0ob4p4LXg

The song that will decide who's the champion will be Everlasting Message/ぺのれり, the song that was deemed the best among all entries for the 4th KAC song contest. As usual, this will be the song's debut and the finalists have to sight-read it.

Seeing how awesome ぺのれり's previous songs are (For example, this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9p7YDWBDXg)) , really looking forward to this song and its inevitably ridiculously difficult lv16 chart :V

For those who didn't know, 4th KAC was held on Feb. 14th but they screwed up on SDVX's finals. For Ultraplayers popped out when the new song should've been played and they couldn't fix it. Konmai pls

Knowing Camellia (ぺのれり), he makes songs of ANY genre, so it's really hard how this song will end up, unlike cosMo who tends to go for really orchestral prog stuff which is really damn awesome and always fitting to be that "final boss song". I kinda still hope ForUltraPlayers remain as the hardest song in the game for this reason, but I'm curious how Camellia's song will be. I mean, you see Thaws' example, then you find out that he also did this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqyaRFcQnEU), which is completely different from Scarlet Pinwheel :V Basically, Camellia is pretty unpredictable with the type of music he generally does, even though quite a few of them are dubstep or electro of some sort.

Penoreri is Camellia? source?  ???

Ultraplayers will probably get a Gravity chart or whatever SDVX VI will be called someday :V  Which is perfectly fine, I mean Max Burning got a lv16 infinite chart too.

Oh, disregard it all, I can't read moonspeak so I got it mixed up with かめりあ (I just counted the characters)

Oh :v From what I gathered Penoreri just seemed to be a lesser-known vocaloid P, so when you mentioned that I thought this was a P*Light HachioujiP thing where this was camellia hiding behind an alias all along and hiding it well :v

Penoreri only has 3 songs on SDVX right now, first two being GUMI songs that also had similar style as Scarlet Pinheel, so it was quite surprising when pinheel turned out to be instrumental.

btw, I really liked how we have a dark horse winner for this contest since last one was pretty much the really popular people (Camellia and CosmoP, though cosmo was a surprise in the sense that no one really expected him to do something for Floor). I don't mean popular people shouldn't get to win but I've really liked Penoreri's work since his SDVX debut (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BjzFdYc60c) so it's nice to see him getting the attention he deserves. :V

Edit: It's over
Everlasting Message is a godly song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c0ob4p4LXg&t=1375
It was also so hard that both top ranker finalists failed to clear it on sight-read... wow. (and they had 9.4mil score too! the gauge is very heavy.)
Etsuya manages to win the champion for the second time in a row.

The champion was then made to do an extra mission: Play the new song KAC 2012 Medley (GRAV lv16)
He has one chance to clear it and if he does it'll be unlocked for everyone, otherwise it'll never be available.
He did it on sight-read with a score of 9.88mil
This really shows how hard Everlasting is lol.

Wow, that's... that must have been extremely stressful. Just off a failed song that won him the championship, he has one shot to go down in history.

Anyway, I used to be extremely into osu! back in 2008-10, to the point where I was in the top 300. Granted, this was before the influx of most of the features and players nowadays (and more importantly, before tablet play was a thing), but it was awesome while it lasted. Had to stop or get carpal tunnel, so there was that.

I'm highly tempted to import IA/VT Colorful when it (finally) comes out, but it hinges on whether or not it's a possibility we'll get an English release.

It really sucks that Pentavision isn't really a thing anymore.

I'm with you there. I was actually number 1 for about a year in 2008-2009. Now it's ridiculously hard for me to keep up with current mapping styles.

In other news, I beat my first 13 on ITG a couple weeks back. It was pretty hype. I don't have stamina for 13's however, so I had to spend about 45 minutes recuperating.

I'm also an osu! player, primarily osu!mania, terrible at playing 8K. Also can't play 5K, 7K and 8K properly because of annoying ghosting problem.

I feel jealous for those who play Sound Voltex, as I really want to see one here in Indonesia, and probably more IIDX machines, there's like only one here. I never played any of those, but I really want to play them.

Meanwhile, maimai has upgraded to Orange Plus, and the machines here still are Green Plus, with some even worse, although there's already one or two machines that is Orange. I really want to try the crossover songs and the new songs too.

Just keep playing and you'll start getting more fit soon without you even realizing it :V That's what happened to me. Long ago I used to struggle with 11s and 12s, now I use them as warm up sometimes :V

As for my personal history, I've been playing DDR for more or less 13 years now (still can't pass Max 300), IIDX for 11 (still can't pass 7-dan), and everything else to varying degrees.

Seeing as how music games were one of the main reasons I came to Japan, I must say they haven't disappointed. There's even Pump It Up if you know where to look.

They don't have Touhou arranges right now, so more than likely they'll have preview builds with songs from a future unlock event.

Anyway, since we're discussing Camellia, enjoy a non-keysounded BMS file (http://www.mediafire.com/download/8rs6dhlukp8aou9/Rainbow.rar) of one of his collabs with Nanahira.

Used to play DDR a lot, then sort of quit it 3 years ago. But, i think i can still do a green nine-footer.
Then switched to PIU like a year ago. I can clear 12-14 level without a bar, but that's it.

Oh man, I spent all of 2013 and 14 tapping away at rhythm games. Namely jubeat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2hRdYvvYag) and Reflec Beat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55c2WeGy5AU) for the iPad. I got to play the real deals very briefly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtVeQnJ40E0) while I was in the Philippines, and I must say that there is no comparison.
Also got to try out Drummania while I was there.

I'd rather not talk about how badly I did.

Played a lot of DDR as a kid, too, but I'm talkin 7 to 10 years old. My nature as a fatass sort of denied me the chance to perform very well on songs rated higher than 7, though ; v;

The very same!

I'd hesitate to call them "newer." The cabs were limelight and copious. And the TimeZone's lack of eAmusement support meant basically that you had to start fresh every credit. But hey. Better than nothing!

I can only speak for the TimeZone arcade at the Glorietta 4 in Makati. They sort of... took their machines from Japan. Shhh.
I found jubeat copious, reflec beat limelight, Dance Dance Revolution X2, GuitarFreaks and Drummania, Pump it Up, DJMAX TECHNIKA, Guitar Hero, and something similar to but not quite exactly Taiko no Tatsujin. Sorry, no IIDX, SDVX, or... maimai. I've not heard of that last one.

edit: Wow, I just checked. They removed DJMAX and RB Limelight! I'm sorry~~~

Why does maimai look like a washing machine, honestly?

Anyway, I found a Music Gungun 2 cabinet at my local arcade, and I was surprised at all of the anime OPs and Miku songs. More surprised someone hadn't already unlocked everything on the cabinet - I got a few VH maps unlocked personally. Most surprised at the Touhou songs.

I don't mean newer versions (I know we sure as hell aren't getting those ever), simply newer series. i.e. not DDR and vanilla Gitadora.

Speaking of which, I forgot to ask, did you play Sandstorm while you were there? :V

@jester: as above, RB was moved somewhere, not sure if RP Ermita or Megamall because I lost track. There's maimai in SM Manila and Rockwell (Quantum locations, not Timezone). Taiko is scattered, usually pirated and in crappy condition. The "similar" game happens to be Percussion Master, made by a Chinese company. Most Technika cabs have been "upgraded" to beatcraft cyclon because Pentavision died.

IIDX... oh god. Sigh. Due to low traffic, Timezone's cabs have slowly been converted into Just Dance zombies. The only decent cab left is some other arcade franchise's Sirius in some remote mall. It was online when it was still in Mall of Asia, then we upgraded it to Lincle not knowing that eamuemu development had stopped completely, so we changed it back to Sirius but it was moved soon after. Now it's close to dead and IIRC its insulation got rekt so you may get static shocks while playing. You'll also find a slightly broken pop'n music 16 in the same location, I think.

e: TZPH's better cabs are literally hand me downs from SG locations.

BEMANI artists doing Touhou remixes.
This gonna be good.
Jubeat/reflec is probably getting some of these transplanted along side with sdvx and beatstream.

Looking forward to the PON and NekomataMaster remixes. DJ TOTTO feat. 3L, this combination had a original song in rb before, this should be good too. :D

1) I was never blessed enough to have a sows account :[
2) I miss my IIDX controller (left it at home and now it's hiding in some box in who knows where)
3) There's a very very tiny rhythm game lounge that opened up here in town that I adore and has resparked my love of taptaptap. I've fallen in love with jubeat and now I'm actually learning how to play Pop'n and SVDX and we all pitched in to get an IIDX machine which should be here very very very soon :O

So I went to ggpon and man I really suck at pop'n :( can barely pass 23s. At least sdvx made me feel good about myself D:. I'm like at a wall with all my rhythm game skills where I can comfortably pass at a certain point but if I go one step harder I fail horribly :S.

I like being on a first name basis with the arcade here at least xD. GOTTA PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

Every rhythm game will have a wall of some sort, which is where it determines if people are willing to practice enough to bypass it or not. And as you go higher in the difficulty scales, more bigger and harder walls will pop up for you to overcome.

For example, Sound Voltex has plenty of walls, from hitting notes while turning a knob, to doing crosshands and one-handed note sections within knobs.

Yeah I played Sound Voltex for the first time today and I can pass anything on novice but trying to go up a step is lol. Still, was my first time and I'm getting the hang of it :D.

Pop'n is just really frustrating because it's like I try to go up one step and it's horrible and I can't do anything. At least with jubeat I was able to steadily work my way up from starting at 5 to consistently passing 8s, but Pop'n is just really really hard D:. I have the same problem with DDR where I can play standard on pretty much anything (and get FCs) but going up to heavy is a wall of nope and I dunno how I can practice to improve :[.

Quick question: do you look at colors or lane positions?
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: helvetica on April 20, 2015, 06:12:46 AM
I switched to using the IIDX notes very shortly after I started playing since the colors were super confusing, so yes I pay attention to lane positions I guess :V. I actually tried switching back to normal notes tonight on another player's recommendation and I couldn't hit anything :\.

Pop'n Music will be weird at first in lower levels because the rating is super inconsistent and/or heavily dependent on what patterns you're good at. Mostly the former, as you'll find songs that are either way too easy or way too hard for that level.

The arcades in SG here stopped updating jubeat as maimai took over (over 10 machines in one of our biggest arcades, wtf), but i'm hoping they'll go back to importing them jubeat machines once the touhou songs are in  :ohdear:

SG?

This is my skill level based on the song difficulty:
maimai: 8-9
Groove Coaster 2: 8-9
Sound Voltex: 7
Stepmania: 9

Any higher than that I will guarantee to fail.
Every rhythm game will have a wall of some sort, which is where it determines if people are willing to practice enough to bypass it or not. And as you go higher in the difficulty scales, more bigger and harder walls will pop up for you to overcome.
It seems I hit those wall.

I guess I should post my current skill based on difficulties for passed songs as well

Sound Voltex: 15 (almost passing Bangin' Burst though)
DDR: 10 on the old scale, no fucking idea on the new one, probably 18? Because I can pass Mei lol
ITG: 14 (if we're counting custom charts)
Jubeat: 9
Reflec Beat: 9
Pop'n Music: 32-33, I've passed a 35 and a 37 though (Elemental Creation and Hyena respectively)
IIDX: 8
Project Diva: all of the songs in the console versions except PD2nd Singing Passion of Hatsune Miku because fuck the game's judgement window
DJMax Technika 3: 11
Pump: 14 on the Pro scale, 11 in doubles, dunno what that accounts for in regular Pump scale though
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: Aba Matindesu! on April 20, 2015, 05:59:16 PM
While we're at it:

DDR: 10 old, 17 new (but my stamina is horrible so this is pretty much once a day max)
jubeat: 10
Reflec Beat: 10+
IIDX: 12 (~12.7 comfort zone, cleared Tricoro Kaiden)
pop'n: 41 old (hesitant to say 42 because I've only passed fffff, Zeta and Monkey's Spiel), 47~48 new?
Technika: 12 (only Bamboo on Bamboo, not Xeus. RIP)
PIU: 17? (haven't played in forever)
DM: ~93 comfort zone, most songs above will be super sloppy without autobass
GF: 90
maimai: 10? Never played anything past the first version offline :'C

I switched to using the IIDX notes very shortly after I started playing since the colors were super confusing, so yes I pay attention to lane positions I guess :V. I actually tried switching back to normal notes tonight on another player's recommendation and I couldn't hit anything :\.
Color is probably more relevant to pop'n than in other games, but I'd still consider position more important myself. Just go with what you prefer~

SG?
Singapore.

Hmm, DDR new 12 on foot. I can play the equivalent of 17s on the controller though.
Jubeat: "High" 10s get A's, maybe S's, up to SS on some "low" 10s
Reflec Beat: Precisely one AAA+ on a 10+ (Guess.
It's Stellar Wind :V
) I get AAA's on them otherwise and have platinum frames on all 10s and below.

Also, for mobile rhythm players:
Cytus: Okay, never mind, the '9' label in this game is wide as a motherfucker
Deemo: I do okay on 10s, but can get FC / ~98% on 9s
Tone Sphere: Got myself 6 stars on charts up to 8, but I did pull a 4-star rating on the 11 Flugel and 11.5 Linear Accelerator.

Good news for everyone living near a Round 1 location in the US. It appears sound voltexes is arriving by the end of april and some locations already got it(?) :DDD
Haven't been able to play SDVX for a few months, can't wait to play!

Since everyone's doing it:

SDVX - 16 (AA'd Bangin' and Ultraplayers, don't have access to other 16s :/ stupid Infinite Blaster unlock system... only good thing that came out of it was the excessive gauge. )
Jubeat - SSS on low 10s, SS on high 10s
RB - Can at least get AAAs on lv10+ generally I guess, except for the hardest ones.
iidx - 8th dan, low lv11s. Barely failing 9th dan, almost getting there!
pop'n - new 43~44
DDR - new 12, and then I'm so out of breath I can't do anything for a while :v
Taiko - new lv8~9 maybe. Didn't play much. Only slower songs for lv9 because I lack stamina.

So everyone's posting their skill caps, might as well, although I only played some, because arcades are scarce here.

maimai: 12
Pump it Up: 10-11
RhytmVaders (Groove Coaster): 9
Taiko no Tatsujin: 7 Muzukashii, can't even Oni orz

Well that's it, I know it's few.
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: FlamingRok on April 21, 2015, 11:09:17 AM
I don't have access to too many rhythm games because lack of time/funds, but on the ones that I have played, this is probably my skill level.

Taiko no Tatsujin: 5 Muzukashii, no Oni why :<
IIDX: 5 (really not that good)
DDR: 10-11
Project Diva: I can usually FC all Hards, and can Excellent some of the easier Experts. My thumbs aren't super co-ordinated.
osu!STD: Can FC 4*, can usually beat 6*.
osu!Taiko: Can FC 2.5*, can usually beat 3.5*.
osu!CTB: Used to be much better...can FC 2*, can beat 4*.
osu!mania: Depends on keys really, 4K I can FC 2.7*, beat 3.7*. 7K, I can FC 2.5*, beat 3*. All other I dunno because lack of those beatmaps.

Yeah, osu! kinda dominates the list, but like I said, I don't have access to too many rhythm games.

Yeah definitely, as it requires a sense of rhythm to do well in the game.

This is different from a music game, where it's a game that is heavily influenced on the music but no rhythm is requires (ie. Beat Hazard)

Went to GGPon again last night, and going tonight (I have a problem). WE'RE GETTING A REFLEC BEAT MACHINE (hopefully two for vs.). Also IIDX is supposed to be here Soon?. Too bad it'll be Lincle but hey, any IIDX is better than nothing.

Yeah, Lincle would be great if eamuemu went up to there at all :fail: of course Konmai gives everyone the shaft for the few R1 locations that'll pop up at all.

Either way I totes still need to move to Ohio.
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: GMOFucker: Makin' GMOs To Fuck 'Em on April 26, 2015, 04:36:30 AM
the one upside to Lincle is you can still play madrugada and EXTREMA PT.2 and other good songs that got cut recently, rip in peace

anyway I'm near a couple R1s since I'm in socal and I generally play 7-9s in IIDX, plus some easier 10s. was 6dan in SPADA but got knocked down to 5dan in PENDUAL. don't play nearly as often as I'd like to due to current life situation (don't have my license or a reliable source of income yet) so I get rusty easily and climbing the 10 wall is probably gonna be a while. event is a good excuse to play soon though so I can be a garbage idiot and send Rche a love letter!!!!!

I haven't actually bothered with any other bemani games though, I know they have pop'n and jubeat at R1 PHM but last I checked they're not on eamuse and they're also right next to Pendual which is much much louder so that's kinda a disincentive when your hearing is shit at separating noise from other noise. wanna try out sdvx but I feel like I'd get a headache immediately, fuckin bright lights and electronic kicks man

The place here is super chill tho and there's talks of moving to a new place that's even better which is great :D. Maybe Konmai will throw us a bone in 2045. I wish we would get an R1 here but good luck this is Ohio :[. Until then I'm stuck with basement too dee ecks. I'm not that good at it anyways so I doubt I'll notice :b (I only dabbled in CS and never seriously, was way more into DDR at the time).

Touhou's invasion into most BEMANI titles have happened. jubeat and reflec finally getting touhou remixes are kinda expected. But surprisingly even iidx got one, but considering it's Starving Trancer and moimoi I guess it's not that surprising, they already have a boss song on iidx with that alias afterall. Not to mention them appearing on every default songlist for several styles.

Can't think of any either. The only one I can think of, but not quite what you're looking for, is Mamonis getting a really cool new art on the P*Light remix version on SDVX.
On the other hand, pop'n songs usually get their new art for their character when given jackets though, which is pretty cool.

Update on the arcades of my country:

maimai Orange Plus has entered Indonesia, although without complete song list and no online support. That means no Re:Master charts.
RhytmVaders a.k.a. Groove Coaster in Indonesia now have online support, although there's only one such machine right now, probably more to come. Nesica cards are currently unavailable and can only be bought by ordering.

That's it.

Unlocked all the way to Sayonara Planet Wars (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4GRdtEaz0k) in one setting. kuroma song is the best.

Don't know how to drive so getting to lakewood takes a bit over an hour via public transport. So I usually go pretty early on weekends. :v and I go like once every few weeks. so I don't expect I'd be meeting anyone here either. haha :v

yeah today was my first time at lakewood actually and I'm not too active in the first place. might be going there instead of PHM now cuz there's a third machine (though I expect it'll be shipped to the Santa Ana R1 once that opens) and the drive is smoother, although until I get my license I have to mooch to get to R1 anyway

in any case my DJ name in PENDUAL is DJ ORZ, if you ever see a skinny 6'1 white boy with long curly hair playing terribly that's probably me. or probably not since I never play :<

E: wow actually I dunno if I could even get to THE SAFARI cuz looking at the changes made to 7dan in PENDUAL it's kind of scales.bms now. might just seem rougher than it is since I'm tired, guess I'll have to just practice ELPIS and Ubertreffen a lot and see.

Failed 7dan four times.

Johns:
- I hit 6/7 with my ring and pinky by default which makes The Safari's rolls extra hard from lack of pinky strength (can't hit Roulette nonran either)
- Ubertreffen nonran sucks when you can't actually hear the song (boring and demotivating!)
- I opened Thaws' video then forgot to actually watch it lmao

Also wow people were all over the sound voltex machines, I oughta try it some time
crack traxxxxx and daiuchuu stage are good songs

Ouch.
I felt like Ubertreffen was harder than FIRE FIRE when comparing PENDUAL's 7th dan to SPADA's. FIRE FIRE had less notes so it wouldn't cut into your gauge as much. and this whole dan is basically taka songs + rche lol
I didn't really completely followed the techniques on that SARAFI video but it's a good reference. I basically just pressed 6+7 together in most te-le-te-le-te-te parts when I did 7th dan :V

SDVX is awesome and you should definitely try it :V There's so many good songs on there now thanks to the success of FLOOR and constant updates every 1-2weeks, so much that it's basically impossible to catch up with updates unless you play like 50 credits a week. But they give out block bonuses (currency for unlocking) on a regular basis and with the exception of boss songs, you're not really restricted by what order to unlock things which are the best.
They actually have the Golden Week bonus till 5/14 and it's a really good source of blocks, you get up to 10 stamps a day (1 stamp per play) and you get 390 blocks on the 4th,9th stamp, 1k blocks on the 5th,10th stamp. To put it into perspective, you get more or less ~300 blocks per credit, and unlocking a SDVX III lv15 chart costs 2000~2300 blocks.

Songs from I are also dirt cheap and those from II are also had their price cut by over half so that's pretty nice for someone just starting out.
Not to mention NOVICE charts are pretty much all unlocked right from the start. (And you can't die from songs under lv6 or 7, I don't exactly remember, but you should see a SAFE label on the top right of the jacket if you'd be safe)

Oh yeah, guess I should post my card name. It's CSYM on both iidx and sdvx, but I won't be in socal for the coming few weeks lol.

fire fire would probably be harder for me since I'm awful at scratching still. ubertreffen isn't really that difficult of a 10 (i was generally going into safari with ~90%) it's just... not fun to play over and over especially when combined with elpis. scales are kind of unexciting to read and hit (or flunk hitting). I like todestrieb tho, easiest 9 rche is my hasubando #imgay

thing about trying sdvx is that all my credits have been going toward IIDX and idk how much money I'm willing to spare in the next couple of months, will try it somewhere down the line though.

After 10 rolls I just gave up on the Maud card. sigh...

Also unlocked Dadadadadadadada on iidx and Lindwurm on sdvx :D
I'll never get tired of hitting the jacks on dadadadadada :V

too bad mind the gap was cut otherwise I'd make a 取り残された美術 -> mind the gap -> 妖隠し -あやかしかくし- -> Boundary course because I'm a dumb (ps revive Hyper Boundary Gate)

not that I have a subscription anyway

E2: hmmmmm while I'm posting dumb touhou courses Moon Race -> Star Trail -> 千年ノ理 -> Immortal imo

Recently, Deemo has been updated to version 2.0. It also added 2 new boss songs which is ANiMA by xi and Myosotis by M2U.
ANiMA is probably the hardest lvl 10 song in Deemo.
While Myosotis which is best described as Magnolia 2.0 is the ONLY lvl 11 song in Deemo, the dubstep is even harder than Magnolia.

I've yet to download the new update or unlock the new songs because my phone borked, but I was sooo hyped! Should I just watch the charts on YT?

Yeah, you can watch it on YT. But don't ever read the comment on those two songs if you don't want to get spoiled on the ending.

Been playing Dynamix for a few weeks, not bad game. Very similar to Deemo, but far more difficult, as notes come at you from left right and centre!

Oh and anyone play Cytus here?

I even describe it to my friend as Deemo only with 3 sides.
This song here, which I can't spell the title is my favorite song.

The only issue I have is the level system which is required to unlock all the songs which I'm not a fan of :( I wish there was a way to just purchase a full unlock instead.

Level 39 though and my favourite song (and chart) atm is Decomposition:

I want that too. I just can't be bothered to keep playing for so long just to unlock new songs. I'm roughly around level 57.

So far my favourite song is variance and in terms of chart, iirc it's called red horse massacre.

Been a week, so I might as well bump this.

There was an announcement a week or so back, and it turned out to be Konami's new game, Museca (http://p.eagate.573.jp/game/museca/msc/teaser). I speculated from the mic that it might be a glorified karaoke game, but the pics of the cab make me unsure.

I hope it's not a karaoke game lol. apparently they're going for doujin music again since it worked for SDVX! can't say I'm exactly excited for this given what happened with beatstream and how konami barely even cares about the games they already have to update. Reflux is a great song on that note though.

also I got 7dan last friday :>

Apparently the buttons can be spinned, can't wait for more details wow.

Also new chroma song on SDVX yesss and it's a 15! I hope it's not a long wait from when it'll actually gets released. But considering it took months for BEMANI x Coke event songs from loc test to be released, I'm a bit worried. :(

Love Reflux but it'll be ages since I'll be able to play it  :( Or maybe never if they get the Legenddaria treatment (very likely, they already got a folder. RIP)

You get characters by mobage Rare-Egg Machine style rolling.
1 Free roll per credit. Pay moar paseli (JP only) to roll moar at once and get rare cards more easily.
Characters have gifts which give you special abilities and stuff you can activate in game by the foot petal when your gauge is full or something.
Lets hope these gifts don't affect gameplay too much.

Deemo: The Last Recital for PS Vita is finally released at 24 June 2015 for anyone at Asia. It featured animated cutscenes, the addition of new chapter after 2.0, and multiplayer as well.

It also featured new collection exclusive for PS Vita. From what I've heard, the new album doesn't have a noteworthy song such as Magnolia or Myosotis.

To anyone who had Deemo: The Last Recital, do you think there are good songs in the new collection?

I don't actually play deemo (I REALLY WANT IT)
If I know what you're talking about though, I believe one of the songs were done by 3R2 (He's amazing)
And based on how a friend of mine reacted to the songs, I'd say they're quite good.

I was planning to be done with PENDUAL for a while but gravigazer being unlockable is cool as fuck, although I dunno if I can do Evans [H] even on course gauge. cinder course is great regardless

can't wait for beatmania IIDX 23: BEATMANIA IIDX. I'm really hoping they announce a Pendual OST Vol. 2 too, if not just for high quality versions of Reflux and Flashes. more extensions would be great as well, they have to be good though none of that "dark legacy except it loops once" bullshit waht the fukc nekomata......

it's funny how at this point I'm more excited for default songlists than unlocks. hoping for some quality RHYZE songs in the new game; I really wanna hear a P*Light song in BEMANI that isn't just happy hardcore. anything by PHQUASE that isn't a boss song would also be great, and Camellia has become more diverse (Resort Sunset from R.U.U.K. fukken rules) so I'm looking forward to whatever he comes up with too

I get what you mean, most of the best songs in SPADA and PENDUAL came from the default songlist imo. Most of the surprise commissions too, like sasakure in SPADA and onoken in PENDUAL. I really hope they get sasakure to do an original song for iidx someday, since Atropos was an existing song from his album.

Definitely want to try Gravigazer at least once. It's gonna be at least a few months before they update it to 23 anyways. 90% of my credits are going to SDVX now though. :v

I hope Reflux isn't put behind Paseli in iidx 23.

Another IoS Rhythm game update.

Groove Coaster Zero has been updated to Groove Coaster 2, just like the arcade version. Aside from supporting the arcade version of the song and multi-touch support (no more risk of dropped input), it now has original mode where you play by (literally) making sound. Seriously, you can play by clapping your hand, playing drum, screaming, and many more ways to play. I haven't tried it yet but it sounded really cool.

Cytus has been upgraded to version 8.0.0 thanks to them achieving their goals of 1 million download. There are two new song pack: Million and Timeline. Million's song is a Medley of Cytus previous song and all of them were awesome. Although, all of them were very hard though. I cannot say the same thing about Timeline though since I haven't bought it but from the artwork, I can conclude that it's story involved 10 different timeline.

man I only just learned that Pendual mirrors class courses when you're playing on future phase which explains why gigadelic killed me with a random 6/7 roll that made me go ??????? ????? the other day

now I'm worried I'm a fraud 7dan I probably would've noticed if the safari had been mirrored though since it's like 100x easier that way

E: Gravigazer and cinder SPH are super fun. good courses too (except Devilz Staircase SPH is annoying, fuck that)

don't worry they've announced a new loca test coming soon so pendual's ending within the year anyways have fun with safari again

Been wanting to give 9 dan a try again but everytime I'm at round1 (like today) it's future again and as you said it's mirrored and I don't really want to do it in mirror when I'm more familiar with the charts in normal...

I wished they've put BSSes in Gravigazer (H) :( I like Devilz Staircase SPH, I couldn't do it at all back when it was tricoro, it's pretty hard for a lv10, but once you can hit those stairs it feels so good. If anything I hate those double trills in V SPH.

Finally caught up with the story mode's main chaper in SDVX and unlocked up to Happy Sensation.
I have to say this story mode is a really good addition as long as they keep the missions easy. Each song takes like 5~6 credits to unlock and have you do simple stuff like "Play this song" or "Clear 3 songs with 100% gauge", etc, which doesn't restrict your credit that much unlike iidx's stupid chrono chaser and seeker stuff. And you're doing all this in parallel to your usual song unlocking with blocks.
Still need to clear the coconatsu side chapter for that higedriver chinese song :V

Speaking of story mode, Discloze is such a cool song with a fun chart that I pretty much kept playing it after I unlocked it :V

Nah. Left by like 6 something.
When did you get there lol :V

Just wondering, does the crowd usually come at night or something because I'm usually there like anytime between 12~6 and there's almost no one at sdvx :V (There seems to be a crowd at iidx on weekends after 4 or so though)
I'm hoping sdvx is profitable for them so that they'll keep those cabinets there :(

Only played like 2 credits on iidx today. Mainly to try out Gravigazer sph.

For some reason when it's 3pm, the iidx server comes up like immediately but it takes like a few minutes for sdvx servers to be up (keep getting connection error after I tap my epass and entered PIN). weird

but yea I'm pretty much glued to the sdvx cabinet when I'm there :v

I was there from around 7 to 10, usually I'm an hour later and leave at 11 though. SDVX hasn't seemed as crowded since the first couple times I went; today there was only two people there at most (at least when I looked). idk I've been going weekly on fridays for the past month or so and it's generally not too active until later in the night - even then it's been rare for all 3 iidx cabs to be active, so I assume people are either playing very late, or on different days

btw has anybody in cali been to the R1 in Santa Ana? it's a bit closer to me than both PHM and LWM but I've only heard negative things about it compared to those two so I haven't bothered checking it out yet; apparently their Pendual costs 5 credits instead of 4 too but maybe that's changed.

So a friend was talking to me about this weirdo thing going on in DDR 2014 lately, a special unlocking event...People have to AA Max.(Period) as Extra Stage to get to a certain special stage called Over the "Period", and presumably if it's beaten on -standard- it gets unlocked for real(though nobody knows yet because nobody has succeeded.)  When I first heard about it BEGINNER hadn't even been beaten yet.

Why is this, you might be wondering?

When playing the song as the OMES, it's much much worse than normal OMESs.  "Worse than a single broken combo/N.G. failing you?  How!?" one might reasonably wonder.  Well, these words pop up onscreen as Ot"P" starts...

ATTACK FULL PERFECT COMBO!

Anyone here following the DDR scene, or is it more just the other ones?

Dr D is the farthest to clearing the song so far (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXVb93iX7Nk)

And he only got to the halfway point at the BPM wave gimmick part. However he hasn't been working on it more as he was busy travelling to a lot of cons in the US.

Just to note, for the record, Valkyrie took 115 days, from 2010-7-14 to 2010-11-06. OT"P" was revealed on 2015-3-26. 115 days after that will be 2015-7-19.

Exciting to see IIDX finally getting a non-nanahira Camellia song. Nothing against Nanahira songs (hell I like most of them :v Can't stop playing Soflan-chan, super fun chart) but it's just weird that jubeat and rb were the ones that got those really cool wub-wub-wub tracks.

Can't wait to see the rest of the location test songlist.

Then it's the painful wait to whenever Copula's getting released to get to listen to/play those songs. :(

Rip pendual result screens.

Meanwhile, I've cleared every SDVX II level 15s, now all I need to do is clear Max Burning INF and ForUltraPlayers :V

Oh wow you have Max Burning INF unlocked :o Did you pay double credits for blaster start or grinded it out with excessive rates?
I've been grinding for Everlasting Message GRV and it's painfully slow :v Eclair au chocolat's at like 200 hp and I've still got 3 more songs to go argg. and stuff has even more hp starting from here too...

Edit:
Train theme?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkGvAz_gqlk
Possible port? Though it's a wonder why this wasn't ported to Gitadora while it was on Overdrive :V

Apparently Lapistoria's finally getting their boss song in today's update too. Wonder who's gonna be the artist?
Considering PON and wac already made the penultimate boss songs (the retsu one and Innocence), we could possibly be looking at the first lv50 unrelated to those two since Toy Contemporary...!? or it might be a collab with PON and someone else again :v

EditEdit:
And yeeep We got a new lv50 and the ED for this installation of pop'n.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtDYxwMjbCA - Lv50
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MggjcQRjhdw - ED

L-an!ma sounds like PON with... Nekomata Master? Would make sense since the alias is like a combination of Power of Nature + Nekomata Master :V
Feels like a step down from Angelion but still a good boss song.

ED is surprisingly by nekomata too. Good stuff.

Does anybody know how to get the Qpro parts in Pendual step up after you get the bad end. I have no idea how to get the good end either but I'm seriously tired of wasting credits on this shit only for it to apparently not do anything

E: uhhh from what I can tell I need to fill the rainbow meter thingy in the street stage with the pink girl before it pops up anywhere else? is this true?

ive wasted two sessions playing post-badend stepup and doing nothing im mad
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!

step up

sorry I don't do step up so I have no idea.
so I looked at bemaniwiki and this is the quickest way to get true end:
Quote

So it says after bad end, Move to area 0, get qpro parts from 0, clear 0 and move to 11, clear 11 and get true end. Then you clear 7 for parts, 1-6,8-10 for parts, 11 for parts.
Does this make any sense to you?

Quote
And this one's for getting qpro parts at highest priority and putting off seeing the true ending apparently.

Also FLOWER and CKP going into Chuunirhythm. What the heck!?

But I'm not sure if this is actual challenge or just some retarded post...

I apologize in advance in case someone mentioned this before me.

Has anyone heard of the game Hachi Hachi?
It's really good (and very challenging) rhythm game that was released recently.
It's on the Hong Kong apple appstore and somewhere on the android store (i don't have android).

I was introduced to the game by 3R2 necause he made 2 awesome songs for the game and I just had to play it after hearing them.
Seeing how this thread intimidates my rhythm gaming experience I thought some of you guys would be good at the game.
Here's a trailer

i cant wait for a touhou arrangement to show up there

New Matsudo chart in SDVX finally! Been like a year since #Fairy_Joke!
That part starting from 1:05~ hahaha The ultimate blind run killer.
Your hand has to be flying across knob to knob. looks fun :V

Can't spare the credits to unlock this chart until I finish unlocking Everlasting Message GRV though :( and that's gonna take a few more months probably.

For those who's not familiar of sdvx think of his charts as the dj mad mass charts of sdvx. :V

No additional news about D&B doing their own loctest, though.

My favorite rhythm game to play is Osu. It's fun to make your own beat maps and play all the different songs. :) I also used to play rock band, ddr, and some dj hero. I really wanna play the new persona dancing game.

In all honesty, I would probably play Osu if the community wasn't terrible, the charts had much more consistency with each other (as well as being decent at the very least *cough*at-least-8-charts-of-Miiro-ranked*cough*), and if a lot of the system itself wasn't so terrible (ie. combo-based scoring). But y'know, Based Peppy would never do anything about it so :V

I mean I really liked Ouendan/EBA so it pains me to see what it's become.
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: Aba Matindesu! on August 01, 2015, 10:28:35 PM
I also dislike how the community actually thinks there are any "osu originals" (sans osu stream, and even then) when it's literally just a simulator of OTO/EBA. Like, no one would say that Butterfly came from Stepmania, right? Same deal. Just a pet peeve though, nothing against the game itself.

On a brighter note, if anyone plays LR2, I made a short lazy remix of Dream of Winds and made it a soundset here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/ewap5rem4g0qehc/DoW+loop.rar).

e: here (https://soundcloud.com/yarkovish/dream-of-winds-remix-menu-loop)'s a preview so you don't have to actually download it to listen

I'm so glad my horrible dislike of combo-based scoring isn't just me
It's probably 85% of why I don't play Rayark games as much as Bemani ones, is because you can miss one note in the middle of the song and lose 6% of the maximum score
(Which isn't as bad as Osu's 60% sure but still)

a friend of mine is a really high-ranking norwegian osutaiko player who got me to play a few rounds of osutaiko but i mostly just dont care about osu since a) community-driven game with a shit community b) music cribbed from other sources makes it less unique

btw i got an eamuse subscription, probably only for like a month but i have a iidx.me now if anybody wants to see my really low scores and really high misscounts http://iidx.me/entelecheia/

But y'know, Based Peppy would never do anything about it so :V

To be fair, I hardly interact with the community at all, but the other two points are quite valid.

...for standard anyways. Another map that was too often back in around 2010 was U.N. Owen Was Her, with remixes upon remixes of the song having maps. I haven't seen too much repetitiveness into Taiko or osu!mania, though osu!mania is terribly coded in it's own right. Combo-reliant scoring isn't honestly all that bad in my opinion, but it is handled somewhat terribly onto standard and CTB

The pp (performance point) system in the game is where it truly does flop though. In Standard, it is mostly reliant on combo, as stated before. Taiko overweighs easier songs (seriously 205pp shouldn't belong to a 4min 4.7 star song), but underweighs hard songs (again, 7.41 stars with a few misses on DoubleTime, Hidden, Flashlight, and Easy is only 614pp, more onto why this is silly later), though at least it isn't super reliant onto combo, it's more reliant onto misses and accuracy than anything. Also in Taiko, as the combo gets larger, the amount of points you can gain increases, but it only increases to a certain point, so a miss isn't exactly fatal for a high score anymore. CTB is kind of a copy-paste of standard when it comes to scoring and pp scoring. osu!mania, on the other hand, is its own beast. Max score is always 1mil, no matter what. Combo somewhat matters, but a high acc will usually trump a high combo. osu!mania doesn't detect if you hit a wrong key, only if you hit the correct key, or missed a key. It's dumb, but what's also dumb is the pp scoring system! For whatever reason, high star ratings break the pp system utterly. Example is the 7.95 star song MANIERA, where top mania players have S ranked (in Standard and Taiko it's FC'ing a song with good enough acc, in CTB it's gaining 98% acc or more, and in mania it's gaining 95% acc or more) and gotten over 1kpp just from this one song. Just...why...

This was probably either not indepth enough, or too indepth, but either way, yes the system is broken. It will always be the player's choice onto what maps they want to play however, and even if there's 8 or so MIIRO maps, you can skim past those to play more unique songs in the game. And as stated before, you don't really have to interact with the community at all, so thank god for that. Yes, it's community is shit, but don't let that part detract from the overall experience of the game. The complaint onto the combo-based scoring though? Totally understandable!

The issue is more or less how songs like Miiro can have 8 charts get ranked very easily but some other people who try to submit more obscure songs either have to wait a long time or never get their charts ranked (however this is just what I heard). Also, there's an awful abundance of nightcore.

haven't bothered with lane covers etc since I remember reading they get wiped between styles. I bought some hourglasses though so I'm gonna try Routing next time I play. I'm also pretty sure everything stays the same once the subscription ends, you just can't switch it around.

I was trying to keep track of my clear lamps and grades on a spreadsheet but then it got tedious and I was like "screw it I'll just copy everything down from iidx.me so I can at least look at some of my old scores when copula comes out"

I guess you're better off spending your Fricos on unlocking Chrono Seeker songs...?
Though those songs being unlocked in SUPER FUTURE 2323 might be hinting that they'll be on the default list of copula like how Qprogue was unlocked by default. Though there was still tricoro songs not being unlocked by default on SPADA so we never know.
Are you gonna try the hyper or another chart :V dat another chart looks crazy for a 11

I'm keeping a list of the lv15 songs I've excessive rate cleared (same as hard clear on iidx) and AAA'd on SDVX actually and it's getting really hard to keep track and read haha :V but I take screencaps of any good scores I get by cam or the eamuse app so I can look anytime.
but yeah iidx is still kinda weird and dumb in that it flushes scores every iteration but I guess most people care more about lamps than score so it isn't too bad (or that might be the effect of annual flushes not the cause whatever.)

Nightcore is less common now, but just like U.N. Owen Was Her, but even moreso, there was an abundance sometime in 2012-ish and earlier. The beatmap ranking...yes I see your concern there, hell I have a Taiko map pending right now, and despite it being modded thoroughly, I still haven't had any luck getting even a bubble.

  • Additionally, D&B Man said that due to licensing issues, other Bemani games like Jubeat would be more difficult to bring over without revamping the entire game.  However, the easiest game to secure all licensing for would apparently be Sound Voltex...

I'm actually spending those on LIMITED TIME ONLY QPRO PARTS because I'm a tool; holding out for the chrono seeker songs being unlockable either by default or through an event and I'm gonna play the ones I really like when I try Super Future anyway. also iirc you need to have played the seeker songs to unlock em and I missed out on the event

I wanna try the 11 but I don't wanna buy too many hourglasses so I'm probably gonna just play the hyper, my plan was to go Routing [H] -> Jikuu Travelogue [H] -> Tropical Club [H] and then NG7 [H] -> Symmetry [H] -> Colosseum [A] (apparently tropical club has a hard ending and apparently colosseum is a low level 11 but either way it'll be good to give it a shot)

I'm keeping a list of the lv15 songs I've excessive rate cleared (same as hard clear on iidx) and AAA'd on SDVX actually and it's getting really hard to keep track and read haha :V but I take screencaps of any good scores I get by cam or the eamuse app so I can look anytime.

doesn't japan focus more on score than clear lamps? they have the whole thing where they play with easy gauge so they can focus on raising score on songs they don't know if they can pass without ending their credit. score flush is lame but it does give people a reason to replay songs. personally i focus more on clear lamps than raising scores for songs i've already played on each style though just because the scores are gonna be wiped

Tropical Club is hard as heck because scratch song. Colosseum is indeed easy for a 11, I think it was my first Hard clear 11 lol.
I only managed to play up to Light my Fire during the event :( and only unlocked Colosseum [A] permanently. Systems that require you to play on different days really hurt non-jp people since we don't have an arcade like every street. I remember it was present almost all the time during the weekends back in Oct~Dec and I was waiting for future for easier unlock condition for Travelogue but never had time to go r1 on a future day. It sucked.

I don't know. I don't really look at 2ch alot and follow iidx discussion threads but I just seem to see people saying stuff like Trying to white lamp all 12 or something ,etc, more than trying to AAA every 11 or something. Though that probably is due to score flush anyways. Still find it weird iidx is the only game doing this score flush thing.

Edit:
Apparently a PENDUAL x GRAVITY WARS event is being teased.
iidx never gotten any infection from sdvx before due to key sound most likely, so this is quite intriguing. There's so many good port choices from sdvx but they can also be lame and port hormmaju or camellia songs.
Or perhaps they'd commission regular floor artists for originals? It's not the first time they commissioned BlackY for something (one of taka's album's remix and Havox w/ Yooh) and that'd be much cooler than wasting the chance on RHYZE members which already is getting songs throughout BEMANI anyways.

FAITH IN KONAMI RESTORED.
After all those questionable port choices in summer diary, they truly outdid themselves with the sdvx->iidx choices here. Elpis is cool but sdvx already has like two taka songs port (True Blue, TIEFSEE) we can use something different tbh.
Surprised at how they chose really new songs (both released only within this year), Discloze is awesome.
No chroma tho but hopefully this means they'd do more iidx x sdvx in the future.

also yes start playing sdvx we need more sdvx-ers here :V

I probably don't have time to go r1 in the coming 2 weeks but thankfully they seem to have extended the period to the 24th probably due to there being two ports from iidx at the same time.
Since it takes 8 credits to unlock a song from iidx I'd probably just unlock Shakunetsu.
Hope we get an insane knob chart from Matsudo for that.

Super Future was cool, Tropical club is really fun on hyper and I passed colosseum. After that I think my brain died for some reason though because I was too tired to read notecharts for the rest of the night and failed blaze it like three times. I did get to one of the last measures of gigadelic in 8dan but I kinda want to just put that off until copula because Kamikaze is tedious and miracle5x is a horrible horrible chart and not at all a 10 they might as well put in Evans or Insane Techniques

I did play sound voltex for the first time but had no idea what I was doing outside of songs because it's all Japanese. Notably idk if I was even working toward unlocking the songs in IIDX. I also could not find Crack Traxxxx anywhere which made me sad and only the hardest chart was in the shop. I did ok on everything up to 6s then I failed some song and Paradoxy on the second difficulty though that was also after the IIDX credit where I nearly fell asleep in the middle of sakura reflection

yeah idk but anyway my name in sound voltex is HXSO.

Insane Techniques's ending is much harder though. Miracle Symph is like overall a hard 10 throughout the whole thing.

Almost all song's novice chart is unlocked by default. Crack Trax's both novice and advance are both unlocked by default.
I agree it's really hard to find songs on lower difficulties simply due to the volume of songs even if you go by iteration folders :v
I'd say you can try going into the lv11 folder and find it then switch back to lv6. You should have much less songs unlocked on lv11 to make it easier. (To switch folder, press only one FX button once then folders should appear on the left side of the screen, then choose with knobs)

most japanese you saw was probably the story mode? It's a new thing introduced in Gravity Wars so there's only like 10 songs you can unlock through it but it's pretty easy (takes like 6 credits to unlock a song) and you get some cool songs like Discloze. Most of the missions are like "Clear X times" or "Play this song".

Floor Infection (songs to iidx) should be unlocked kinda automatically, before you get to the Block/Generator/PolicyBreak page it should force you to use the Infection energy or whatever it's called on the gauge.
But for policy break (iidx -> sdvx) you gotta go into the Policy Break page at the end of your credit and put the energy you saved into one of the gauges (for elpis or shakunetsu) so if you forget to do so before the event ends you don't get the songs on sdvx :V

yeah I did unlock elpis. good to know about crack traxxxx. the japanese stuff was probably the story yeah because Rasis and some other anime people were talking back and forth a lot. one thing I didn't get was the "searching for player" screen whenever I started a song (which seemed to skip whenever I pressed both black buttons), what's that there for?

I may have not gotten any IIDX unlock because I only played 3 credits but I remember scrolling through the floor infection screen and the gauge for it was at 18% or something iirc and I figured it'd be higher

E: actually I may have passed the other advanced chart I played? I thought I didn't reach the clear marker but it's not shadowed out on eAMUSE like paradoxy http://i.imgur.com/1Ich7h3.png

is there anyway to buy charts from konami's site by the way? because I need to be playing soflan-chan as soon as humanly possible

Yes that's the story mode thing

On sound voltex there is a system similar to jubeat where you can online match with people who chose that song at the time while you're waiting. Matching gets you a few bonus blocks and also if you fail but they clear they can save you from game over(does not work if you are on excessive rate gauge aka sdvx's hard gauge) unless you play popular songs or new songs it's hard to ever find people anymore though.

Yeah you passed harunaba's retrospectively merry go round. Love that song.
Fyi sdvx's clear marker is at 70% not 80%.

Soflan's Nov chart should be available by default, but it's adv and exh chart has requirements unfortunately as it was part of the KAC road to unlocking everlasting message. Its adv's requirements are clearing chant du's adv chart, for that it's unlock requirement was excessive rate clearing 5 >lv12s which is quite difficult for someone just starting out to do.

You can also find someone with the song to local match with you. I can't be that someone unless you go earlier than 7 or something someday :V

And there's no way to buy charts on the site you must do it as the end of a credit.

So I remember reading during an interview (don't remember where) that IA/VT Colorful was supposed to be harder than Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit!

Not seeing it quite yet. (That's probably because of the bursts of lag in BA, huh?) Haven't tried Hard mode yet, but I just burned a hole right through the Normal Step Up. (Hint if you can't read Japanese and go in the Step Up mode: If a challenge involves a Colorful note, you need to hit all of the Colorful notes in that song solely with the indicated button - even those that have multiple hits. You need a 100% hit rate on them specifically, too.)

My only regrets is that the game doesn't include See The Lights, and that I don't have a JP PSN account (nor am I going to get one just for this game) so I can use these two DLC codes.

I just love where IA/VT puts the first Hidden challenge - right between a challenge where you have to get an S Rank on two songs with the Random modifier active (which can shuffle around the buttons, so say, something that's usually Triangle is X instead) and a challenge where you have to get an S Rank and 150 Combo on Crystal Prism (which is kind of hard to do when some of the song itself isn't on beat!). Better yet, it's on Inner Arts, and the Rank requirement is reduced to only a C (which is frankly, very easy as long as you can remember what you're supposed to be hitting).

Cosmic Cat -> Amnolys -> No Tears (<--NEW!)

Amazing choices, 5 more mystery songs to go on the OST page but I can't imagine anything else getting long versions that will beat Anmolys and No Tears. :V
Well, not really, hoping to see PENDULUMs or Reflux on the list too.

Edit:
Get HYPE!
SDVX getting four original commissioned songs from the 4 winners of previous KAC song contests! New songs from BlackY, Cametek, Cosmo, and Penoreri!
AΩ / BlackY (AlphaOmega)
Blastix Riotz / かめりあ as "Bang Riot"
Preserved Valkyria / ぺのれり
XyHATTE / cosMo@暴走Ultimate (Saihate = The furthest end)

if I could pick the rest of the long versions it'd be the OMESes except for say yeah and then fake out and tropical club. PENDUAL has good music though so I can't think of many bad choices. Line 4 Ruin is probably happening since it was going to be on that recent kors k album but then wasn't.

PENDULUMS would be really cool if I didn't have trust issues after Dark Legacy

also "camellia as bang riot" does this mean we're getting a bangin' burst sequel because if so hell yes. I seriously think Camellia is the best "new" artist aside from maybe TOTTO, I really want them to give him freedom to make several songs per IIDX style a la kors k who typically does like 3-4. Hope he has more than just Routing in copula.

BlackY's AlphaOmega in particular, the highest score right now is "only" 9.98 while the other two already have people scoring 9.99
These lv16s are brutal.

SDVX's been getting Cosmo songs for the past 3 updates, (UnivEarth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omFxUxsznlI was confirmed to be a collaboration between Cosmo and siromaru. I like this song so much)

People may have mixed opinions about PHQUASE's songs, but he sure is a good effector.
What I both love and hate is that the chart starts to zoom out from 1:40~, creating an illusion that the chart is speeding up which matches really well with the song. It's where the jacks starts coming in too, and you start to fail to catch up with the streams of notes :V

Not surprised this is a hard 15 but really surprised eternia is just a 14 :V

It'll give me a reason to plug the thing back in. Not sure if I'll bother getting the Vita version this time though.
DS4's d-pad feels less comfortable than the DS3's but I haven't tried it on F/F2nd, guess I'll finally see how it goes (maybe I should just go try it >_>).

I'm gonna get the Vita version first since it's out 6 months before PS4 (which I also don't have lol).

We'll see gameplay at Magical Mirai in a week, but the Sega poll revealed that most people wanted the gameplay to be more like the arcade (slider, no star notes, multi-button holds) which I voted for. Star notes basically ruined the gameplay of the F series and hopefully they disappear forever.

I knew they weren't releasing at the same time but 6 months, uh, might end up getting it then.
I'd love to have an Arcade type game but it seems like it would be awfully uncomfortable an awkward on a normal controller. I'd be ecstatic to see those star notes go though, especially the W ones >_<

The W stars were strange because they didn't seem to actually require that you hit it with both sticks, or with two fingers on the ASC touchpad (never played F 2nd on the Vita). My primary complaints are the star notes are that it was very easy to get rebound triggers from the control sticks unless the sensitivity was set to lowest which still wasn't perfect, and that the touchpad on the ASC was finicky enough to start firing burst triggers during heavy play (Senbonzakura EXT became a nightmare to COOL attack). Additionally, the star notes just made the game way too easy as it would eliminate any complex patterns that since you just had to time on move, and even then the rhythm never got too difficult.

Look at Two-faced Lovers: the EXT chart from Extend was one of the hardest in the game and was absolutely maddening to combo, and it did it solely with high-speed patterns. Meanwhile, the F 2nd chart would have to stop several times to allow for a star section, this was slow enough to be jarring compared to the earlier and later note flow, plus the star sections were very simple and brought down the complexity of the song as a whole. The arcade version is basically the Extend chart with added multi-button holds, and it looks quite difficult to score well.

I feel that with the small button size of the Vita, adding in multi-button holds would not be outrageous; the average person could hold down multiple action buttons with one thumb while inputting notes on the D-pad. The slider mechanic from the arcade would be a great use of the rear touch panel, since it would only require input rather than location mapping.

That feeling when you finally think you're turning a corner in Pop'n. I had what I consider a really good day playing at my local arcade. It wasn't that I was necessarily suddenly passing new 41/42s with ease (although I did pick up a couple of each), but that everything just felt better. I normally try and set my high speed between 680-700 and that actually looked slow at times, my hands felt lighter and seemed to move with greater ease than before, and I just felt like I could read the charts better, Maybe it was a fluke, but maybe I'm finally gonna be able to break pass this wall and start competitively playing 43s and up.

Still stuck on the early/mid 15 wall in Voltex though...maybe I'll switch over to only playing using the Excessive Gauge and hope that helps. A harsher gauge might just force me to play better to pass previously beaten high 14s/low 15s and in turn aid me with the harder 15s.

I feel like 15s are where charts start to get more characteristic and you need to master a certain set of skills to pass a particular hard 15 and so on.
And playing with the excessive gauge is fun because it forces you to do better on songs you can already pass. :V Suddenly spots that you error a lot that you don't really care too much on a normal gauge becomes deadly and that forces you to try to understand it, I mean the first time I finally managed to excessive rate clear Growth Memories my score also improved by like a whole lot and went straight into the AAA range. lawl

dying on the first or second track sucks though

Oh I know what you mean. Freaky Freak, 雪女, Neu, there's usually one or two spots that I just don't do well and I'm getting punished like crazy for it on excessive. So, uh... Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live are both out. Here's hoping they learned their lesson after the abysmal failure of their last attempt to cash in on plastic instrument rhythm games.

(That said, I did in fact buy Guitar Hero Live and why do they throw you almost immediately into a set? I mean, if you can get the hang of it in the tutorial, it might be fine, but the default difficulty includes all six buttons...)

BTW, Reflec Beat Volzza is out and despite the goofy name it has a ton of amazing out-of-nowhere Touhou songs added. Sure, they put in CPMC, but they also put in recent songs from Sound Holic, Buta-Otome, C-Clays and a few more.

This is way past Reitaisai, so this is a new thing. Reflec Beat getting Touhou songs means that the rest of BEMANI could have Touhou songs too.
...This could be a bad thing.

Other than SDVX and the BEMANI x TOHO Project event I don't know anymore about Touhou songs in BEMANI installments.

Has something to do with not having access to newest BEMANI installments, or even having access to one.

Both of these songs is part of BEMANI x TOHO Project and that event affects all BEMANI games.

Sometimes, I curse myself for having access to newest rhythm games despite myself having only average skills at rhythm games

They also added a handful of Touhou songs in a minor update to Jubeat not too long ago, things like Night of Nights and CPMC.

I am personally hype, but I wish they'd show some love to my favorites: DDR & Gitadora. Pump It Up of all things has more Touhou rearrangements than DDR, (and one of them is Tatsh's phenomenal Four Seasons of Loneliness).

Google:
CPMC = California Pacific Medical Centre

Fun fact: In Pump it Up, Bad Apple is the #1 most played song at 68000+ times played.

I think both DDR and Pump has only two Touhou arrangement songs, correct me if I'm wrong.

However, Bad Apple!! has a great 4-player performance chart :V

Have you guys ever heard of an arcade game called CHUNITHM? The only thing that I know is that's an pretty awesome rhythm game game that uses some kind of sensor as its button. Unfortunately, it's Japan only. So perhaps anyone here who lives in Japan could tell us more about this game.
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: チソウ タイゼン on November 05, 2015, 12:33:27 AM
it's got a slidey touchpad as its sensor that you tap a la beatmania (were its buttons completely horizontal)
the distinction is that buttons can be of variable width, and may have these 'lift' actions associated with them, at which point you must raise your hands into the air and block the infrared sensors on the side of the cabinet.
it sort of boxes you in, you see.
it looks super cool, but the name bothers me

CHUNITHM, developed by SEGA, along with maimai.

Thing is, now SEGA seems to almost neglect maimai and now milking cash from CHUNITHM.

The fact that there's more content in maimai that have something to do with CHUNITHM didn't help matters.
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!
Post by: Your Everyday NEET on November 05, 2015, 06:52:46 AM
Last time I've hears, maimai announced some sort of songs crossover (just like what Sound Voltex usually did) with CHUNITHM. Even in the Asia version (it's literally the first you see after inserting credits). It's like SEGA is saying "Hey Asian players, want to know more about CHUNITHM? Want to play it? Well, fuck you! You're not Japanese! Go to Japan first!" (No offense to the westerner)

CHUNITHM only has 8 Touhou Arrangement songs though whereas maimai has 28 songs.

Also dat totto song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcVRQC53TcU). so beautiful

omg.

Routing and Shakunetsu pt.2 gets BGAs that were not in pendual! Awesome BGAs too!

I love the BGA for Damage per Second haha.

Also wow dan screen UI is like a train now nice.

Lilize in 8th dan!? Lilize unlocked by default? Yes! Pretty much only song I wanted to play from Chronicle but haven't unlocked.
I wish US r1 had the option to pay more for extra stage so that I can play 11s on both the final and the extra stage. :/
With sdvx being here there's no way I'd put more than a hundred creds into iidx this iteration.

copula is off to such a great start I'm afraid I'll be disappointed by event unlocks again. :V To start with, event unlocks would probably not have BGAs as awesome as defaults unless that rumoured LED x Kuroneko dungeon song comes?

unrelated to copula, omg I cleared Everlasting message [grv] on sdvx i'm so happy wahahahaha. Then proceeded to hard clear AAA bangin'

Has anyone picked up Superbeat XONIC yet? It looks like it was made by the same group who programmed the DJMAX Technika series (more specifically, it looks like they used at least some of the assets from Technika Tune), but the lack of MVs to the songs feels like it will hurt playability.

EDIT: Yeah, it helps when Planetboom and 7 Sequence (both former Pentavision aces) helped with the programming.

Time to break these BEMANI streak with another rhythm game post.

maimai is getting an upgrade in the form of maimai PINK soon!
The level system has been changed, now there's a plus next to a level like 10+. Many songs will be promoted or demoted because of this.
For example, the song L9 was lv12, in PINK it will become 11+.
They also get a massive overhaul of the UI. It's a lot to explain, but yeah.
The results page is even more detailed and show you the maximum score on each notes beside your own score. I believe this means the Break will show you the maximum points, that is 2600 Break points on all Break notes.
There's a new slide variant. If you know about the circling and curving motion of the slide, now it will reach to the edge of the screen.

That's for PINK, as for the current situation, maimai ORANGE PLUS just got a new full-on Touhou update. New songs and new Re:Master chart from the Touhou category. There's also a large Flandre icon, which sadly requires CHUNITHM IIRC.
The songs are Drizzly Rain, some Luna Dial remix from Scarlet Destiny album, and lastly "Death Waltz" but with beatMario's caws, which some people get headache hearing it, and it's lv12, the rest are lv 11.
The Re:Master chart are Epikuros no niji wa mou mienai and Hiiro no Dance. Hiiro is ridiculous because it's purely slides and breaks.

That's all for the maimai news folks!
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!

and lastly "Death Waltz" but with beatMario's caws, which some people get headache hearing it, and it's lv12, the rest are lv 11.
It's called "Saishuu kichiku imouto ichibu koe" or as I like to call it, "FlanRoll". It's Expert chart is pretty ridiculous though.

Hiiro is ridiculous because it's purely slides and breaks.
Reff: Slide down, slide up, slide down, slide up, repeat

Also, in maimai. Some Touhou Arrangement songs have a mission where you must get an S in certain songs, which is pretty easy to do. Some of the prizes are: SOUND HOLIC's Suwako, Kanako, Remilia, Hisoutensoku IOSYS' Rumia, Wriggle, Iku, Marisa, Cirno icons. And my own personal favorite: IOSYS' Mystia and SOUND HOLIC's Suika. Sadly, no IOSYS Tenshi or Suwako.

Today, I explored Hongkong AppStore to find some rhythm games and I found some cool games.

Musync, it's basically CHUNITHM on iOS. The main point of this game is its UI, the UI may change depending on the genre of the song. For example, an H-Pop song got a cloudy background, a relaxing song got an ocean background, Techno song got a futuristic background. The downside of this game is its free songs is just not challenging and the pattern leave much to be desired (unless its techno song). But the background and UI is pretty dang awesome, what's better is that it was made with Unity. Now this is how you do Unity, unlike some shitty game on Steam we find.

Hachi Hachi. It's an online rhythm game, the gameplay is basically maimai without the button. That's all I can say.

Speaking of maimai PiNK, yeah it is now released.

There are new slides, the ones that goes to the edge as I say, and one that looks like sliding an area using two hands. There's also what seems to be one slide that turns on a tap section without being tapped. Also, double slides can start as single tap now it seems.

That aside, the interface got joked too much by people, stating maimai Empress and maimai prop because of the pink interface.
Ranks now reach from F to SSS as opposed to D to SS.

maimile and music ticket are replaced by maiberry. The maimainet has been changed to view the maiberries. How this affects to those who can't access PiNK yet is unknown.

New musics, there's Yo-kai Watch, Umaru, one Touhou song, Hacka Doll, and more.

I think that's it now.

Apparently it uses the original IIDX-style video, which includes fanart of Celica. Did they work it out with Konami or was it just an oversight? I actually half-expected them to use the 2ch flash video instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iATdrHPsLmY

I'm surprised to find this thread dead. Normally I expected people to be really hyping for The 5th KAC, but nobody ever seems to discuss it here.

The one worth mentioning is SDVX's final song, Lachryma, and its invisible lanes. The song itself is very good.

Recent maimai updates have 7thSense by Sakuzyo, good song but the hardest Challenge Track yet. Currently there's an event for icons and profile frames for the Original & Joypolis musics. Also, Aiolos and Axeria are now available outside Japan, and Aiolos is fantastic.

Any other things worth mentioning? Just share it! Let's liven up the thread again.

Well their grudge with Crossbeats and Naoki is one thing, but Konami doesn't seem to be in bad terms with other companies in the rhythm game scene recently?
They're putting BEMANI songs onto Chunithm for one thing, but the most shocking news was probably them pro-actively porting conflict onto SDVX.

With conflict also being on GC3, it's now playable across three different companies' rhythm games :o

Is this also related to Void making a song for maimai PiNK?

They're putting BEMANI songs onto Chunithm for one thing,
I heard that Konami is supporting Chunithm in one way or something, so that's why they havve BEMANI songs in there. Is this true?

No, it was a couple of years ago when Cross Beats first came out on the iPhone. Void had a song on it, and suddenly none of his submissions got selected anymore for SDVX.

Konami and Sega seem to be on decent terms as far as sharing first-party/in-house songs, but if you willingly submit work to another company, Konami probably won't be taking anymore of your submissions. It's just sort of how they've been, for whatever reason. Of course, if you're a hugely popular act where they will come to you for commissions/licenses, it's a moot point.

I do seem to recall harunaba's Gumi contest #2 submission getting rejected and it happened to be after him getting a song in Taiko.
But then again both him and Kanekochiharu have songs on taiko and they got runner-ups and best 5th KAC contest song treatment respectively so Konami might be becoming more open-minded?

It's possible, but given their past attitude, it's hard to tell at the moment. They probably are realizing that if they're going to dip into doujin talent, it's so interconnected that unfairly treating one artist could have more far-reaching effects than others.

Well they used to do this kind of requirements quite often back in SDVX II, e.g. XROSS INFECTION, Black Emperor to name a few songs.
But it sure was confusing as heck at first :V

Also it took people days and also hints from the staff to find the unlock method for HELP ME ERINNN [GRV] where it becomes a completely different song HELP ME CODYYYYYY (the sound director of SDVX). lol
Usually people figure this kind of stuff out very quickly so that was unexpected. Guess people was concentrating on playing touhou songs on 1st/2nd track but it turns out you gotta play KHAMEN BREAK and HELP ME ERIN remix because of the cody thing.

Well, to even gain HELP ME ERIIINNN - SH style, you need to play HELP ME ERINNN and a SOUND HOLIC's song, the order does not matter. To unlock Remixed Perfect Math Class, play Cirno Perfect Math Class and BeatMario's song (presumably Night of Night). Unlocking Remixed Shuwasupa: play Shuwasupa Daisakusen and certain uno's song. At least i finally knew who CODY was.

That unlocking method is pissing me off.  Before I knew the unlocking method, I spent my post result screen just staring at those locked songs and pressing start repeatedly... for full 1 minute.

Yea, and bemaniwiki is pretty slow with updating stuff like this. Usually the requirements are pretty obvious (play songs of same artist as new song) which is why the CODY thing took forever for people to figure out because people didn't even know the GRV would involve CODY.

I remember when Harpuia and Black Emperor was out, I can't find what's the requirements on the web so when I happened to see someone playing them, I just asked them do I have to play like two BlackY songs and two Chroma songs, just to be sure I'm on the right track :V

Speaking of unlocking methods that piss people off, besides the obvious Infinite Blaster, XHAOS JUDGE, argg. Like, Stleq and Aliquam is fine,
Nofram's 20 lv15 INF/GRV charts... at least I'd get that over with once I finally get through the requirements for Lachryma GRV,
Hemerocallis's fifteen lv15 vocaloids, arg. I mean I like vocaloid but I'm not a fan of exit tunes really, and most lv15s are exit tunes stuff. Did they really have to set the number to fifteen?  :qq:

Upcoming Thursday 3/17 maimai and CHUNITHM will have new boss songs composed by Tatsh named GEMINI. maimai is GEMINI -M- and CHUNITHM is GEMINI -C-. Here's hoping it's a good song and the chart is not really hard, at least for maimai.

But 1 life is really...
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!

GEMINI -M- already made its preview. The song is not bad but not that appealling. Gonna wait for the full song and wait for GEMINI -C-

It seems that CHUNITHM also gets another song besides GEMINI -C-. From what I get, it's Garakuta Doll Play remixed by sasakure.UK. And maybe another song... or not.

GEMINI -M- and GEMINI -C- are now released in their respective games.

Somebody already get All Perfect on GEMINI -M-. What a beast.
For the song, it's a legit boss song. I got the feel that this would fit when you're fighting a boss.

Also Garakuta Doll Play remix is also already out on CHUNITHM.

Yes, this is a triple post. Nobody seems to talk any news anymore. How's BEMANI holding up? Any news?
For BEMANI, they recently distributed an online survey to the SouthEast Asia. Could this mean that SEA will get full E-Amusement support?

So SDVX just had yet another update this week with 6 songs and they're ALL 15s.

One of the two winner songs of KAC 5th contest that were only second to Lachryma was released which was Revolver / sky_delta
and it's awesome

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwHs3w1Xnss

The song is great and the chart looks super fun. That part from 1:00-1:03 looks hella cool.

Can't wait to get to play it but I'm very low on blocks to unlock stuff and unlocking REVOLVER requires unlocking four lv15 songs before it arggg, why did I even bother with KAC 2013 medley emperor side.

So, uh, I got Deemo a couple of days ago. So salty that most of the good songs are behind a paywall I can't access because lol I don't have a PSN account for the Chinese region. (Anyone who has a CN PSN account want the game's OST? I have a voucher!) Honestly, I was expecting the pay scheme to be similar to Cytus Lambda formerly on PSM - pay once, and you get the whole damn game.

In case anyone reading this is from Massachusetts or nearby states and hasn't been to the Round 1 in Taunton (Silver City Galleria) yet, here's a short review of the cabs currently there:

2x SDVX III Gravity Wars (3.5?/5)
* Left cab's BT-B gets stuck, right cab's VOL-L is stiff af. Both have caused me undue failures in Skill Analyzer, but it's probably just me because it looked like the regulars were dealing with it just fine

2x M?SECA (5/5)
* Both in great condition

1x GITADORA Triboost (D 4/5, G 4.5/5)
* Floor tom is kinda borked imo, everything else is great
* Machine positioning is back to back which is dumb

2x Crossbeats REV (5/5)
* AIME available, left cab in great condition, and I can assume the same for the right cab.

2x IIDX copula (4.5/5)
* Largely in perfect condition, the turntables are stiff to me but I guess this is the AC standard now?

1x PIU Prime (4.5/5)
* Pads are great but not perfect.

1x PIU Infinity (???/5)
* Was borked when I went so idk.

1x pop'n music 20 fantasia (4.5/5)
* Buttons themselves are perfect, the only problem is no eamoose (for obvious reasons) and being on an SD cab with its blah audio and video quality. If you don't care, consider this a 5.

1x DDR X (4/5)
* Pads are mercifully not crappy as but the screen is gross. Obviously no eamoose. Also, still a NA (Betson) cab.

1x Music Gun Gun 2 (???/5)
* idk how to rate this because I haven't played it much but it certainly works

1x Taiko no Tatsujin 13 (4?/5)
* Didn't play myself but it looked fine when my friends played it.

Added but I main sdvx so I play only like 2 credits of iidx every time I go to r1. (and recently playing museca for policy break on sdvx so didn't even touch iidx last time I went.)  So I won't be of much help. :(

My friends kept talking that the filters are badly used in this one. Also, it is missing one critical part, the jacks near the end of the song. They just replaced it with long note rather than jacks, and that caused disappointment to many.

I don't think KONAMI wants to use the original versions because if they have a special version for their game they can act like they "own" that version

None of the BMS songs in SDVX are songs I'm super into though so ?\_(ツ)_/? . They should put in Poppin Shower since P*light is in RHYZE, then floor infect it to IIDX

Also I added you Thaws.

Seemed to me they kept both this and conflict's difficulty pretty low as a 15. I guess they don't want these non-floor BMS songs to be 'boss songs'.

Blacksphere is cool. Though honestly I missed this gem from BOF2014 and didn't know about it until it got into sdvx and went back to dl the BMS to play after playing it on sdvx. :V
But yea xi BMS songs wise, I wished they'd have picked Halycon or Valhalla over Parousia :V

Ehhh, I see them more as "remasters" which a ton of artists would do anyways if it's an old song. I mean, look at t+pazolite's Electric "Sister" Bitch, which was also originally a BMS song but it's been entirely re-arranged for SDVX since the original does sound a bit dated.

I would also love to hear Poppin' Shower as well though.

I say we also need onoken and Shiki in SDVX. The former already has tracks with strong dubstep elements in other games, and Shiki's own hardcore/trance might be a welcome addition.

I don't remember why, but I remember onoken not really getting along with Konami, although I might be mistaking him for Cranky. In any case, it doesn't seem likely.

I'd imagine you mean cranky and void, seeing as they've had their stuff rejected on the basis of them having songs in other franchises (PIU/Technika and crossbeats, respectively). Then again, onoken has songs in other games too, but he still has songs in some of the latest releases.
Title: Re: Rhythm Gaming! Let's dance and groove!

void only started getting rejected once his work was added to Cross Beats, which Konami is particularly sore about due to it being helmed by a defector; Cranky never bothered to begin with.

Cranky and Shiki...

I've seen those names before, they composed songs in maimai under JOYPOLIS section. One of them is Death Scythe by Shiki.
But really many artists have contributed to another rhythm game once in one way or another.

SOUND HOLIC, REDALiCE, Sakuzyo, sasakure, xi, USAO/Shandy Kubota, Hige Driver, and more.

...I think I said something completely off the topic.

Then again they did just port conflict into sdvx.

Can't imagine onoken being on bad terms with Konami seeing he made 2 songs for iidx, a bunch of songs for pop'n, 1 for jubeat, and 2 for reflec already.

What I'd like to see more of is sasakure in BEMANI :( but it seems his works are all going to SEGA. They got my hopes up when they got a sasakure song on the default songlist of SPADA...

Wait, I'm stupid and completely forgot Onoken contributed to Bemani games before, even if it was under an alias.

Conflict was an exception because it was part of the Tenkaiichi competition which involved multiple games and was a collab anyway.

Well Sasakure did do the arrangement for Coconatsu's Kimi Ego Search (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrKPXv71R7s). Outside of that and a couple remixes he did in SDVX, not much else he contributed as of late :(

There's a lot of Touhou Arrangement song coming to Sound Voltex lately. First, it's PCB arrangement songs, then 3 hidden remixed song, and they're still adding more. Geez, wish maimai and Groove Coaster started adding more as well.

During my arcade, the people who played rhythm games are:
70% of them are God of Rhythm who could perfect every song.
20% of them are moderately skilled
10% of them are complete newbie who wanted to play.

So, when I tried to invite my friends to play, the conversation goes like this
Me: Hey dude, wanna play maimai with me?
My Friend: Nah, I'd rather not. I never played it before, besides, there's no way I could compete with anyone there.

Groove Coaster adds about one or two Touhou songs with every update, they just can't keep up with Sound Voltex because planning the course and the background animations probably takes more effort than just making the chart/effects. Plus, they just announced a thing for Reitaisai, an album's worth of brand-new arrangements, all of them collabs between two circles: http://groovecoaster.jp/linkfever/toho_kyoenmu.html

Personally, I'd like to see more Touhou in Pump it Up. There haven't been any new additions since Reminiscence.

Speaking of Touhou and Groove Coaster, I downloaded Groove Coaster 2 earlier this week when I was in the waiting room at my dentist and was saving Puzzle And Dragons stamina. I'm not the biggest rhythm game fan, but I enjoy goofing around with them from time to time. I just noticed the IOSYS packs in the store and bought one of them even though I've only been playing the game for like an hour. I got most of the ad libs on Marisa Stole The Precious Thing the first time I played it because I know it really, really well. :derp:

In other news, sdvx got yet another BMS port, GO BACK 2 YOUR RAVE / nora2r from BOF2014. Kinda surprising choice, I wished they'd have chosen a better song though. :V Also it's surprisingly only a 14 on EXH.

Oh damn, forgot about posting all the goddamn updates in Thursday.

maimai got Big Icons for Touhou Youyoumu songs, but sadly, as usual, you must play CHUNITHM to get it... My Yuyuko...
And CHUNITHM itself gets Touhou Koumakyou characters IIRC.
For songs, maimai got ONE HELL OF A BOSS SONG in the form of Glorious Crown by xi, the sequel of FREEDOM DiVE. It broke the most notecount of all Expert and Master chart, and the Expert chart difficulty, displayed as 10+ is actually over level 11. The Master chart, is believed to be the first 12+ chart, although now it's still 12 because of limits. Aside from Glorious Crown, Night of Nights got Re:Master chart with the difficulty of 12. Its chart is comparable to Axeria and Oshama combined. Along with all of these, IXION, Counselor, and Challenge Tracks now have Collection events, including Glorious Crown.
While maimai got Glorious Crown, CHUNITHM got FREEDOM DiVE, another 13+ Master chart.
SDVX III got Destroy by Yooh, with EXH difficulty of 14 and GRV difficulty of 15.

Any other major updates?

Yes it is confirmed. They're undergoing loctest in Japan on three places now.

The new updates include:
Removed songs, all from Pops & Anime
Revamped Dan ranking system. It's now IIDX style where you have to S clear to continue. The option to play is available on the very first track.
It seems there's now a fast/late indicator option and calibration setting.

Maybe there's more, but that's what I know for now.

Also no one can AP Glorious crown week 1. Even xi himself is surprised his song is made that hard.

wac, PON, TAG jokes aren't new, we had that in that 恋愛観測 mix. Isn't the first time them mixing venus songs too. But I was genuinely surprised by them mixing Hallelujah and Ultraplayers in though

Dammit, seems like Groove Coaster 2 (iOS, and Android) have new  Touhou Arrangement Pack. I already blow most of my money on steam summer sale, I don't think I can't afford this one. Wait, did it has Yukemuri Tamaonsen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts-Y4Xg2Tfc), from Tamaonsen? And ID from Zytokine? *sigh* Guess my credit card will be empty, now.

I'm so hyped to be getting a DDR A at a mall literally 20 minutes away from my house/5 minutes away from my uni, and that's on top of a PIU Prime in another barcade in the same mall. I feel so spoiled for choice now.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world... PH players get hype, we might be getting 4 jubeats EACH in several Quantum locations. There's also a Museca available at the branch in EDSA Shangrila. Hopefully SDVX follows suit real soon.

I think someone on its development team is hardcore Chen fanboy.

I don't know and don't care about the story since I don't understand any of it. All I know is that its battle mechanic is bullshittier than GoS as it was designed to rip off credits than making fair bosses.

More like shitty unlock mechanic. As if song unlock chains aren't bad enough.

Yay rhythm game thread is revived!

I think the battle mechanism isn't that bad. There have been more grindier unlock systems in other games. (Jubeat copious I'm staring at you)
Though I have to admit I am unlocking these stuff at a much better pace compared to last year's vertrages and co. Chapters because I have a Cocona PUR and 4 sub-crews.

On the other hand blaster mode unlocks are getting out of hand, took me hundreds of credits to grind to lachryma grv and now this flugel path is even grindier. At least this one gets you 3 16s at the end. The NEW GENERATION gravities had no reason to be blaster unlocks, seriously what the hell.

Btw Diablosis:Naga is the best song and chart. Can't wait to be able to play its grv like next year when I can unlock it.

Why ded tred is ded

3 October there was a live session for AOU announcement.
Participants for the AOU are:
Sound Voltex by Konami
maimai by Sega
Groove Coaster by Taito
Taiko no Tatsujin by Bandai Namco

For the new original songs for the event, we have:
kyokuken - cosMo vs dj Taka (SDVX)
Nitrous Fury - Jun Senoue (maimai)
Scarlet Lance - MASAKI (ZUNTATA) (GC)
doku L0CANdy - t+pazolite (Taiko)

And for crossovers, everyone get one song from previous AOU by lottery, and the results are:
Solar Storm from GC for SDVX
yoake made ato 3 byou from Taiko for maimai
Axeria from maimai for GC
masakari blade from SDVX for Taiko

I don't know but there's some rumor about gekkou ranbu from SDVX being crossed all over the platforms.

That's all for AOU.

In other news, IIDX copula will soon be available for public in Indonesia. Really looking forward to this. SDVX and MUSECA is still waiting for further information.

Why ded tred is ded
Because I find no reason to post update for a certain rhythm game when anyone can search it online and my source of information is crap because I don't have any connection and I begin to despise rhythm game as much as I despise GoS (let's just say playing rhythm game in my own country is just miserable).

Anyway, for maimai Pink, in commemoration of Hakurei... I don't know what they called the convention in 16th Oct, maimai finally released Touhou Arrangement song, this time it's centered around IN (That's good since I'm getting bored of SDVX fanboyism for Chen and PCB in general).

They released 3 new song and 2 Re:Master on maybe 6th October (today). The songs appear to be Eirin, Kaguya, and maybe Mokou's theme. And the Remastered song are TeiEientei (AKA the song that got censored because it contains Tewi flipping the moon and Reisen being....) and Overdrive.

Museca is so universally disliked that even arcade in Singapore actively tries to sabotage it. Wow.

The SDVX 4 song contest (and, well, SDVX 4 by extension) was announced. About time we got a new SDVX :V

hype!

SDVX kind of started off the current trend with BEMANI games where they release new note type/game-affecting elements every new iteration of a game. I wonder what can they still do with within SDVX's hardware limitation though? They pretty much released any limit they had on charting with SDVX III.

Because I find no reason to post update for a certain rhythm game when anyone can search it online and my source of information is crap because I don't have any connection and I begin to despise rhythm game as much as I despise GoS (let's just say playing rhythm game in my own country is just miserable).

Welp SDVX's PCB contest song stock is used up with today's update so yeah we're finally done. Rather than Chen favourism, people are more upset with how almost every update had to be Alice's remix being 15 I think. :V

On the other hand CHUNITHM got Imperishable Night 2006 which is a really well known insane BMS song from years ago so that was a pretty interesting choice.

Strangely I'm seeing wayyyy more casual players trying out Museca than SDVX at the Round 1 I frequent. Is it because of the less intimidating looks? Or the graficas?

Think about it, when people plays SDVX all the time, and the MUSECA booth is empty, what would casuals do?
Then again it's definitely the graficas. pixiv: the rhythm game.
I don't know why MUSECA is really neglected to be honest.

Arcades in Singapore uses card that we pay for it and then fill it with credit in order to play all the games there. Museca uses COINS instead. Why would they do that?

Meanwhile, SDVX just released a Touhou Youyoumu Ultimate Medley (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMn_bchupcM). As the title states, it features arranges of songs from Perfect Cherry Blosson.

The medley is actually really good and doesn't have awkward transitions like the KAC 2013 Emperor Side did, thankfully.

Well the place I go to have empty SDVX cabs all the time, but I guess it is a game with steeper learning curve than museca (though still way smoother than iidx's learning curve haha).

Well the medley is a floor song not a KO, so it gotta be good to get accepted. :P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wmW5vZ2IJQ
On the topic on medley floor songs, this one is amazing as well. It's a Necrofantasia remix but they cramped all the themes from PCB into like 20s in the middle of the song Mamonis style.

Also, no good update is complete without a Hirayasu Matsudo knobs chart. :)

SDVX IV Heavenly Haven hype!

Level scale goes from 1~16 to 1~20 which makes lots of sense. Seeing a 15 on a song basically gives you no reference to how hard it is anymore with the gap being so large.

Confirmed only 20 is Lachryma.
Apparently Daiuchuu is a 16 on EXH and 18 on GRV. I guess that ends all the arguments of whether Daiuchuu is a 13 or 15 or 16 or 17. derp  :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V :V

Someone on twitter reported Black Emperor GRV being a 19, which means it jumped past ex-16s like Medley2012 and MaxBurning INF and joined the ranks of stuff like Everlasting Message [GRV]. lol

Apparently songs having the fourth chart (HVN) is gonna be the norm now?

Ranks are being split more finely than just A->AA->AAA. Seems like the new S Rank is 9.9m
This is gonna give me more motivation to get better!

The new rescale

Also apparently you can print song result on generator now.

They said you can now buy songs when playing, not just at the end

Now to other news...

maimai MURASAKI is currently on loctest

New features include Max Fever and Banquet Mode.
Max Fever is when all players get Full Combo, other features unknown.
Banquet Mode is like World's End in CHUNITHM, which means gimmick charts.
For example the chart for Reach for the Stars has the taps replaced by breaks.

Max song level is 12+, with many songs rescaled. Most 12s become 12+ now, and most 11+ and some 11 are now 12.
Ratings are now reaching 15 something instead of 13.9s

Still unsure but someone said that Challenge Tracks will be on 2-day basis.

In other news, iidx 24 sinobuz is comfirmed for release on 10/26!
We were shown two new songs (Amazing Mirage/lapix, karasu/LED-G) on the livestream last week in addition to finally getting to see Hu∑eR in person!
Turns out he's a double Kaiden, and in his exhibition match against Dolce in a blind run on lv11 chart Karasu, he only lost by about 40 EX-SCORE (granted dolce was like max-40 or so, so it's still a huge difference at that level of skill but still an amazing feat not many people in the world can do I'm sure).

2ch quickly began speculating the true identity of Hu∑eR and they've found quite the amount of evidence pointing to a doujin artist named 8284 being his old alias. Evidence include similar levels of skill in bms/iidx, 8482's twitter mysteriously closed down around the time of Hu∑eR's debut, him having songs named similarly to Hu∑eR's debut songs in Bemani.

If that's true it kinda huge because he's like the first in-house artist to ever have written bms songs/charts before (and participated in SDVX floor)! Amazing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZ-oQBIwsBA

That was before we actually saw HuMer in person and confirmed he's a new guy though.
In fact Totto joked about him being speculated as HuMer numerous times on the livestream before introducing HuMer. (E.g. First thing totto said on the stream was like "Hi everyone, it's me HuMer! Just kidding")

Edit:
Sinobuz is amazing.
You can see them putting way more efforts into BGAs now. AsiaN Distractive and 獅子霞麗の舞's BGA's quality is just amazing.

I finally get the chance to go to my nearest round one this Saturday, I can't wait to finally play SDVX for a few hours!

More SDVX players in America! yay!

edit: wait is this just listing game availability in the countries that have bemani?

It's just availability. The preliminaries have not even started.

Hello there Rhythm gamers!

How are you guys doing? Enjoying the new arcade releases?
I seriously wanted to try all of them, but they're unavailable yet... Here I am stuck with maimai PiNK PLUS and IIDX SINOBUZ.

I saw the new charts in SDVX, and Dreadnought is epic like the song, that bpm change at the buildup!
It's funny that now EXH isn't really the hardest anymore.

Yeah. Although I'm pissed off that my rating in maimai got reduced by 0.40 (which will takes me 10-20 credit to recover) after transferring my account to MURASAKI. It's interface certainly is bombastic. Utage songs are certainly unique, but  you must S rank all previous songs if you want to play it unless you got a friend to play with (which I have none),. Also, S ranking level 10 song - it decreases my rank instead of increasing it. Rhythm game is a load of bull.

There is Heavenly and Maximum difficulty in SDVX IV. And again, my skill level has been reset, making me unable to play any song beyond level 7-8 (when the max difficulty is now 20). Navigating the song selection in SDVX IV is harder since I can't categorize the song by level (Or Touhou Arrangement Songs). With the huge selection of song and only 60 seconds to pick... I still don't know how to increase my skill level by to normal since I can't find Skill Analyzer.

Didn't they have a temporary patch where you could start with 16s (new scale) since Skill Analyzer won't be until tomorrow?

So, uh, I'm massively late on this, but...

Hatsune Miku: Future Tone is getting a US release. January 10. With all the songs intact (though it's the same split into two halves JP has).

KAC NEWS!!!

DDR KAC CHAMPIONSHIP HAS ENDED, AND CHRIS FROM USA HAS BEEN CROWNED CHAMPION!
THAT'S RIGHT! FEFEMZ HAS BEEN DETHRONED!

Massive comeback after small losses from previous song by playing EGOISM440

6th KAC was amazing.
Wished sdvx would stop going overtime due to technical errors though. The two finalists didn't get to choose a song of their own in the final round because they screwed up so many times. :/ Thing was still so hype though :]
Was worried iidx won't be as good to watch without dolce competing but maaan that
Licht
vs
u*taka
. Apparently it came down to literally the last note. (https://twitter.com/Flashes_IIDX/status/830680256839299073)
Them bringing NA players to DDR KAC is the best thing too.

I maintain that random is sacrilegious and that
U*TAKA
only lost because he got a shittier chord ;[

That said, all these matches were intense. The SDVX 20 reveals were soooooo hype.

Well maybe it was karma for him choosing mei
lol jk

SDVX 20s are hype and I can't wait for them to be released! I don't think there was any obvious hints in the preview movie for a possible ultraplayers HVN so would he4ven possibly come without the need to unlock a series of HVN charts? Though probably Ultraplayers GRV's gonna happen anyways and it's gonna be a unlock requirement for he4ven MXM like usual since konami earns more that way :(

I hope we get another blaster x3 soon because illness lilin is also coming up and if that MXM chart is also hidden behind another batch of HVN charts I don't see myself playing it until a year later with there being no blaster mode in US R1 machines.

In other news, Arcaea (https://arcaea.lowiro.com/) was just released. I downloaded it yesterday, and considering it's really doujin (so doujin I actually know one of the charters, and also know the other one's a 2hu fan), it's actually of impeccable quality.

Think of it like Sound Voltex if it actually made sense for phones, and the charts themselves are ~*~in 3D~*~.

More like it's a mashup of BEMANI games

One of my friend says it takes inspiration of only SDVX and CHUNITHM, but I think it's more like SDVX, IIDX PENDUAL, Reflec Beat, and MUSECA crossed together into one single game.

For songs, Shades of Light and Lost Civilization easily becomes my choice of best songs in the starting pack, Lucifer is also good. And surprisingly there's GOODTEK in there, which is okay. I haven't (and maybe couldn't) buy the DLC one.

I've got some info that SDVX machine has finally arrived in Indonesia! It's already been 10 months since the first loctest took place.

There's still no news on MUSECA, and for SDVX only the machine is featured. I hope the inside is SDVX IV.

THE WAIT IS OVER!

Just in time for the month long blaster energy x3 golden week event for you guys lol
Have fun unlocking blaster charts!

Tried Arcaea. Really fun but too a while to get used to my hand covering my own view when doing the "knob notes"

It seems like Konami want to make their own CHUNITHM or Deemo. There's this game called Nostalgia by Konami. The gameplay is like when you combine CHUNITHM and Deemo. There's a piano in the machine, you press the note vaguely in the position of the note and you get point depending on your timing. There's a hold note, drag note (like in Deemo) and rapid tap note.

I say it's like Deemo because it is piano-centric. Most of the music are from piano. 50% of the music are classic piano piece like Fur Elise, you have an interest in classic piano you'll definitely know the song. And then there's piano arrangement of anime song (like Madoka Magica's OP in piano and I remember the theme song of a certain anime about ghost girl and her friends? Can't remember the title though), Touhou Arrangement songs (piano version of Knight of Night and Machibitohakozu) and mostly unaltered songs from Konami's other BEMANI game.

Doing good in songs gets you Steps. You use steps to unlock buffs? Achievements? (I don't know, I can't read Japanese) and unlock new songs and progress to the story? There is a story? I think? It's a silent story about a cat and a white haired little girl? I don't know, I still don't progress far. Let's hope it doesn't have a sad ending like Deemo did 'cause I don't wanna to be make teared up in a freaking arcade. I'm a man, it's shameful for a man to cry easily.

Ah... Nostalgia
Deemo gameplay with buttons, competes wih CHUNITHM

News: After SDVX came in, weeks later it spread like wildfire across entire Java! I just can't believe this level of expansionism after waiting for so long! This also include one or two IIDX machines having spread as well.

Ooh, the loctests in Indonesia are finished? I hope it's as successful there as in the Philippines (or even more)!

Okay so because of the person I now live with I was reminded that MotK is even a thing and I'm into Touhou again so I got bored and made an account here again.

But yeah hi I primarily spend my time on music games. So far these are the highest levels I can play:

DDR: 18s (on good days)
ITG: 15s (usually '''speedcore''' more than stamina charts; stamina is like 13s and 14s on rare days)
Pop'n: some 40s sometimes
IIDX: about midway into 10s and I'm really closing to clearing 七段 (currently sitting at an easy 六段 clear)
Jubeat: like some 9s maybe lol
SDVX: like some rare 13s but usually I like to stick around 8-11s - I haven't played SDVX much at all

I also on some occasions play other stuff like StepMania but idk how to properly express skill at games with arbitrary difficulty scales that are inconsistent but I'm at least decentish at most other things I play or have played

Speaking of Deemo, it's now on the US PS Vita store. Not that that helps me much, since I have the CN physical version, but at least now I can patch the game?

I've been playing a lot of Thumper lately on my Switch, and it totally lives up to the hype. This game is riveting. I'm not the biggest rhythm game person ever, but I can't put it down. This is the first game that's made me really glad the Switch is a handheld, so I can keep playing when I leave the house...

Glad you're enjoying it! Since you have the switch anyway, maybe try Voez?

How are the lengths of the levels in Thumper holding up for you? I wanna dig in but hearing that a single stage is 30 minutes long is a massive deterrent.
