[My first attempt at running one of these. I just hope I'm not brutal at it.]
You are Yuuka Kazami. You have just awoken from the middle of a strange dream. You can hear bangs and crashes in the distance. You assume that they were the cause of your waking up.
>...
-
>What were we dreaming of?
>Get up and inspect the source of the sounds. What is going on out there?
>Inventory
>Do we hate Marisa?
-
>Try as you might, you cannot remember what you were dreaming of. It somehow feels important though, and seemed to have something to do with flowers.
>Grumbling, you clamber out of bed and aim for the door of your room. Opening it a fraction you wince at the sudden rush of light. Once your eyes adjust you peer out to find a shrine maiden and a witch battling in your hallway.
>Currently, the only items you have are the pyjamas you are wearing and your alarm clock.
>You do not know anyone by the name of Marisa, so you cannot tell whether or not you hate her.
-
>Retrieve our parasol. Do we use it as a weapon?
>>If yes: threaten the two intruders. "My, my, waking a youkai up isn't exactly a smart thing to do, especially for two intruders~"
>>If no: watch them like a hawk and prepare whatever counterattacks we have.
>Keep trying to remember what we dreamt of.
>Relationships
-
>Your parasol is indeed a weapon - You keep it beside your bed for occasions just like this. Your preparedness has paid off! You go out into the hallway and deliver a kickass line with great panache. Unfortunately, your delivery of the line coincided with the shrine maiden using a bomb, which copletely drowned it out.
>It can be very annoying when you can't remember a dream, but despite your best efforts, the only additional thing you can recall is a feeling of being threatened.
>You are not exactly a very social person. The only people you have any regular contact with are your gatekeeper Elly and a fairy infestation that you cannot seem to get rid of.
-
>Spark them. Now.
>For that matter, make it two. They might survive the first one and proceed to whup our butts.
-
>Annoyed at being ignored, you fire off your speciality move - Master Spark - at them. Both in the middle of the hallway, neither of them have a hope of dodging it.
>You wait until they assume that it's finished and then fire another. Once again, they were not expecting it and become lost in the conflagration. When it stops, they immediately split up and stay on opposite sides of the hallway so that you cannot do it again. The two look decidedly singed.
"Hey!" yells the witch "What's the big idea of interrupting our fight! I was winning!"
-
>"Interrupting?"
>Yawn; we did just wake up.
>"I should be saying the same to you; I was sleeping~"
-
> begin BGM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ5mYOlXqYc).
-
> "Interrupting?" you ask, followed by a large yawn. "I should be saying the same to you; I was sleeping~"
The shrine maiden seems to be annoyed at you too.
"You're the cause of this! I'll kill you!"
The two of them are gearing up for a fight. Well, it's been a while since you last had any fun.
(The fight options are as follows: Physical, Danmaku, Spark, Dodge)
>You hum along with the BGM. It's one of your favourite tunes.
-
>"Please; that should be my line~ <3"
[Note: Remember, even though we are tired and annoyed, we fight with beauty.]
>Swing that parasol and send a beautiful wave of danmaku at them; with enough force to show how annoyed we are.
>Once they start firing, time to dodge.
-
>With an elegant verbal riposte, you initiate the fight.
>You begin with several sweeps of your parasol to send semicircular arcs of danmaku flying outwards, several of which rebound off the walls. Without granting any recovery time, you begin to spin your parasol to send out a huge spiral of blue bullets.
>The pair are clearly not used to working as a team, and their danmaku do not mesh well at all. While it looks incomparably ugly, it is also extremely difficult to dodge. You manage to hold out for several seconds, but eventually you are hit by a stray bullet, momentarily stunning you.
...

You are Yuka Kazami. You have just regained conciousness and are sitting in the middle of your flower field. While unconcious, you had a strange dream that you cannot remember much of, except that you were in a large mansion
-
>Any sign of either of those trouble-makers?
>Quick glance around.
>Does any part of our body hurt?
>Inventory!
-
> Troublemakers? You don't recall any troublemakers. The last thing you remember is sensing someone behind you, turning around, and blacking out.
>You look around, but see no-one.
>Your head hurts. It seems to have developed a bump. You surmrise that whoever the mysterious person was, they hit you on the head and left. Not exactly a major feat of logic, but you're still a bit dizzy.
> Nothing appears to be stolen though. Not that you have much, the clothes on your back, your parasol, and of course your spellcards.
-
>Great... They won't be doing that a second time.
>Stand up and dust ourselves off.
>None of the flowers look damaged, do they?
>Do we see any foot-prints of some sort; markings on the ground and such?
-
You are Yuuka Kazami.
You are Yuka Kazami.
>Dang.
>Relationships
>Spellcards
-
>You stand up and dust off your rump.
>You are immediately brought out of your reverie by the sight of a bed of daffodils that got crushed by your fall. Whoever caused this, you're going to kill them. It looks like you would be able to repair most of the damage though.
>You look around for any sign of footprints or any clue as to who the culprit is or where they went, but you find nothing. Not surprising, since you were in the air when you were attacked.
>Pretty much everyone you know goes out of their way to avoid you. You have no friends, but sometimes humans and youkai come to test their strength against you.
>You have three spellcards: "The Reflowering of Gensokyo", "The Beauty of Nature" and "Master Spark" although you rarely use the last one.
-
> Use our power over flowers to repair the damage to the flowers.
> Imagine some of the terrible things we're going to do to the culprit.
> Did we see anyone or invite them over today?
> Investigation time. Let's take back to the air and do a patrol of our flower field.
-
>You immediately start working on healing the flowers. It takes quite a bit longer than you expected.
>While you work you think of some "fitting punishments" for the culprit. Starting with the fingernails and working in seems like a good idea.
>You haven't seen anyone today, not even an insect.
>You fly around the flower field, carefully searching for any clues. You cannot find any though, and it's already starting to get dark.
-
>Fingernails? What is this, Higurashi?
>Wow... Time does fly...
>But that's probably because we've been out for a while.
>Where do we sleep?
>Do we have a mansion, or just the Garden of the Sun?
-
No insects? That's not good! The flowers are going to be lonly.
-
>No, you use a rusty sharp-nosed pliers ^_^
>Yes, by your judgement, you were unconscious for a good hour at least.
>You own a small cottage beside the garden. You're not a savage after all.
>Now that you think about it, that is quite odd. Perhaps something you should investigate.
-
>Well, let's proceed to our lovely little cottage.
[Parser warning: If it's broken, prepare yourself. :derp: ]
-
>You go home to your cottage. It is a small thatched affair with only two rooms - bedroom and kitchen/general living space. It can be a bit hard to find, due to the ivy growing all over it, and you appreciate the privacy that affords. You would check to see whether anything had been stolen, but there's so little stuff there, that it's not worth it.
-
Think about the last time we had seen a mansion.
Check our clothes for dirt.
-
>Remembering your dream, you start thinking about the mansion you saw therein. The only mansion you can recall seeing is the SDM (You paid a visit a while back to give the gatekeeper some advice on gardening), but it doesn't really resemble the one from your dream. While the SDM is dark and gloomy, the Dream Mansion was brightly lit and very colourful. As you think some more, the colour purple seems to spring to mind, though you have no idea what it relates to.
>Your clothes appear to have gotten slightly muddy from your fall earlier. You'll have to wash them tomorrow.
-
Do we know Miss Nightbug? Or at least of her?
-
>You know of her, but the two of you have never shared any conversation beyond
Yuka-"Hello."
Wriggle- *Flies away*
-
Sigh..this might be troublesome.
Fly to the Forest of Magic, if there is a villiage on the way stop there first.
-
>You're already quite tired, but nevertheless you aim for the forest of magic. Since the human village is on the way, you decide to stop there first.
The village is quiet as the grave and you can't see anyone nearby.
-
Strange..it would normally have more people, right?
Search for a person.
-
>If we find anyone, strike up a conversation.
-
> Is this what usually happens when we visit the human village?
> If that is so, has the protector of the village, Keine, ever tried to step up against us?
-
>Normally, yes.
>The lack of people disturbs you, so you search around, but there isn't a soul to be seen. You even go into some of the houses, but there's no-one at home. It's like a ghost town.
>This is most definitely not what usually happens when you visit. There are people who don't like you, but this is ridiculous.
>You have heard that the teacher sometimes takes protecting the village a bit too far, but even she hasn't showed up.
-
>You hear a low groaning coming from inside a nearby house.
-
Go inside.
-
>You step inside and see a human you don't recognise sprawled on the floor. It would possibly be too difficult to recognise him even if you knew him, as he is bleeding from a cut to his head, and the blood is obsuring his features. He also has several cuts on his arms, as if he were trying to fend off something. He is groaning softly but appears to be barely conscious.
-
Neel down and a ask him. "What happened?"
-
>Upon seeing you, the man's eyes go wide and he starts yelling and thrashing about. However, the exertion seems to tire him out and he falls unconscious. He's in a bad way, he'll die if you don't do something.
-
A bit of a delima here.
We Don't want to be known as helpful, but we can't let him take what he knows to the grave.
Do we know enough first aid to try and save him?
-
>You know enough first aid to keep him alive long enough to see a doctor at least, although it probably wouldn't be enough to keep him alive for any long period of time.
-
Do the best we can then. This is most annoying.
Do we know of any Doctors?
-
>You wash the wound using thyme as an antiseptic. You tear up some of his clothes to use as bandages. He only seems to have the one wound, so you can't do much more.
>You remember there being a doctor in the human village but...yeah. There's that lunarian in the bamboo forest though.
-
>Would it be wrong to attempt to transport him there? If not, would there be enough time to rush to that lunarian's place?
-
>It would probably be safest to bring him with you. After all, you still don't know what happened here. As long as you are careful, he should be alright, though he will slow you down and would be a burden in a fight. On the other hand, if you leave him here, it will take longer for him to get treated, but you can fight as normal.
-
I say we take him with us. Just because fear and terror's our job, doesn't mean we aren't at least sorta nice.
I mean, this guy's never hurt any of our flowers after all.
-
>You pick him up and start carrying him piggyback style. Slowly, you set off for the Bamboo Forest of the Lost. Once you get there, you promptly... get lost. Welp.
-
Look for a rabbit..they know how to get around.
-
>You stand still for a minute and look around. There's a rustling behind you. Pretending not to notice it, you step forwards, then quickly turn around and grab the rabbit that was following you. She looks up at you with frightened eyes.
"Wuh...What do you want?" she stammers
-
"An answer. Do you know the way to that lunarian's place?" ask nicely. If she doesn't know, ask her if she knows anyone that would.
-
>"Uh... It's that way." she points to your left.
-
Thank her and follow her directions.
-
> After thanking her politely, you go the way she pointed. After a good while of flying, you still don't see any sign of the lunarians' house, and you are as lost as ever. It seems the rabbit was lying.
-
> Find that rabbit and give her a lecture. This is no time for jokes.
-
> You go back the way you came, and easily spot the rabbit who unwisely decided to stand there and laugh rather than running away. You don't even need to give her a lecture, one look at your face is enough to make her start apologizing.
"F-Follow me." she says.
-
>Follow her with a small scowl.
-
>Seems she's scared enough not to try to trick you again. You eventually see the building in front of you. Outside stands another rabbit - the moon rabbit this time.
"Oh, you found Tewi... who's that?" she asks pointing to the man you're carrying on your shoulders.
-
>"Some person I found. Is your lunarian buddy in? It seems our little friend here needs some medical attention."
-
>The rabbit looks surprised.
"Ah... yes, come in." she leads you inside. There's a long hallway, but you are quickly led through a side door into a living room. The rabbit gestures that you can leave the man on the table and says
"I'll just go get her." and she hurries off.
-
> It's not long before she comes back bringing the doctor with her, who by the looks of things is not very happy about being disturbed from whatever she was doing.
"My my, what did you do to this poor man?" is the first thing she says upon entering the room.
-
"Bring him here. The village was empty except for him. I would like to know why, and if he dies.."
-
>"I did nothing. I just found him like this. If he had given me reason to attack him, then why would I be standing in front of a doctor with him?"
>Make sure to say it with a sickly sweet smile.
-
> You explain what happened sweetly. The doctor becomes pensive, so pensive in fact that she seems to have completely forgotten the task at hand.
-
>"Um, there is an injured person here."
-
>She looks up sharply
"Huh? Oh yes." she turns towards the rabbit "Udonge, please take this man and put him on the operating table."
"O-okay." The rabbit hurries to comply with her masters request.
The doctor turns back to you
"Don't worry, I'll have him right as rain in no time. Err... You can wait, or come back tomorrow, whichever you like..."
-
>Is it urgent that we come back? He'd probably need escorting out of the forest, as it took us quite a while to navigate.
-
>It isn't particularly urgent. All you want him for is to find out what's going on at the village. He'd probably manage to get home by himself once he's better.
-
>Too true. If we want to find out what has happened at the village, it would be prudent to return and ask him.
-
>You tell the doctor that you will come back later. She looks slightly relieved and calls the rabbit from earlier to lead you out of the bamboo forest. The journey takes much less time than the previous one.
You are now standing just outside the bamboo forest.
-
Do we know where the Hakurei lives?
-
Of course you do. Over thataway...ish.
-
Thataway-ish is better than not knowing the way. Fly high for a better view.
-
You fly up into the air. It's easy enough to spot the shrine from here, the gate is extremely distinctive.
-
Lets see if any one is home.
Say hi to any fairys we see.
-
You set off towards the shrine, but you see something coming towards you. You see black, white and red, but before you can get a better look, it crashes into you, causing you to black out momentarily.
You think you saw something weird just now. You shake your head slightly to clear it. Damn that amulet hurt. Or was it a star? Either way, you've just realised that fighting in your pajamas may not have been your best idea.
-
Oh, yeah, lets go and get dressed properly.
-
You hurry back to your room and lock the door. You can hear the shrine maiden and witch shouting outside. You hurriedly pull on a white blouse, waistcoat, pair of pants, and a necktie. You have justhad enough of a chance to grab your parasol again before the intruders break the door down.
-
Well, they are who we were looking for.
Check if they hurt our sun flowers.
-
You were looking for them?
What sunflowers?
-
Prepare to defend ourselves, but keep a neutral yet
falsely sweet face as if you weren't expecting them.
-
You tighten your grip on the handle of your parasol, smile and say
"Oh my, visitors at this hour?"
The pair look furious.
"Shut up! I'm just gonna defeat you and solve this incident!"
"No you're not, I am!"
"I am!"
"I am!"
-
>Walk away and see how long it takes them to notice.
-
>The two are so absorbed in their argument that it takes barely any effort to slip by them unnoticed. As you walk down the hallway, you hear bangs from behind you - seems their argument turned into a fight. Well, since you're already up (and your bedroom is now a warzone) you may as well do something with the day.
-
>Are we hungry?
>Was there anything else we had planned to do today~?
-
Who lives in/near our mansion again?
-
> You're not hugely hungry, but you wouldn't say no to a nice spot of breakfast.
> Well, not exactly, but you did have spring cleaning you've been putting off for a few weeks. Of course thanks to some people, it's now an even bigger job.
>Aside from yourself, there's just the gatekeeper, Elly. Well unless you count the vermin(fairy) infestation.
-
>Go check on Elly. If these two got in, they may have done something to her.
-
>If she's not injured and was just too lazy, prepare to lecture her.
>>If she is injured, consider going back and checking on the intruders...
-
>You head out to the front gate, where you notice a suspicios absence of a gatekeeper. She must have run off somewhere.
-
>Where would she have gone?
-
> Does she keep a garden?
-
>She could be hiding nearby, if she went further afield, she most likely went back to her own house.
>There's no room for a garden here, Elly set up a big intruder trap which is bloody annoying everytime you want to go anywhere. She may have a garden at her own home, it's been quite a while since you went there.
-
"Elly? Are you Okay?"
-
>There's no response. Either she's not here, she's here but can't hear you, she's here but isn't answering, or she's dead. There's no sign of a body though, so she's probably not dead.
-
Would she hide from us? Does she get all guilty when she fails to keep people out?
-
>Let the search begin!
-
>While she does get very...enthusiastic about her job, it's unlikely she'd get down about failing. Far more likely that she'd use it as an excuse to pester you to allow her traps to get even more ridiculous.
>You begin picking your way through the tiles, bullets and bombs scattered around, as you look for Elly. Eventually it becomes apparent that she's not here. Seems you'll have to look further afield.
-
Check her house first. We would feel silly if she was there and we didn't look.
-
>As you leave, you narrowly avoid getting your skull shattered by a crossbow bolt. When the hell did she get a crossbow? This is seriously getting ridiculous. Anyway, you vaguely remember the way to her house so you head towards it.
"Hey! What are you doing in my territory!?" a voice calls out. It belongs to a short blonde youkai with dog ears.
-
>"Your territory? Apologies, but I'm looking for my gatekeeper."
-
>The youkai frowns.
"This is my place! You can't come here no matter what!"
-
> Are we still on land we think of as ours?
-
Nope, you're in the middle of the wilderness. Why anyone would want to own this land is beyond you.
-
>"Well... I'm sure we can work something out about this...?"
>Roll our hand to encourage the youkai to reveal her name.
>"At any rate, my gatekeeper has blonde hair, she wears a red dress and usually carries her scythe. Oh, and she has yellow eyes. Have you seen her? If you answer, I will move on."
-
Unfortunately, she doesn't appear to be bright enough to take a hint.
"No! You can't come through here! This place is mine!"
It seems no amount of talking will be enough to get through to her.
-
fly Away. We could start hostilities...but she seem too stupid too get the message.
-
You fly off and go around a slightly longer way. It's not long before you arrive at Elly's house.
-
>Knock at the door rather loudly, "Elly? Are you there?"
-
You hear a muffled voice from within. It sounds like Elly, but you can't make out what she's saying.
-
>Get in there!
-
You open the door and step inside. You hear a click, and a tile moves under your foot. Before you can move, a heavy net falls from the ceiling on top of you. The door of a nearby room opens and Elly comes running out, but stops abruptly when she sees you.
-
>"Remove this net, please. Now."
-
Your words jolt her into action and she begins tugging at the net.
"Sorry about that, boss. Can't be too careful you know."
She eventually manages to pull the net off you.
-
>"Now that little bother is done with.. there were two intruders in my house this morning, and I just wanted to know if you knew anything?"
>Be sure to raise one eyebrow in a way that says 'I bet you don't'.
-
Elly starts to look uncomfortable
"Well, you see boss... The thing is... I've been working a lot recently... and... well... I-overslept-oh-god-I'm-sorry!"
She bows dramatically in front of you.
-
>"Hmm..."
>"Well, there is something. You see, there are intruders in the mansion. I thought they'd have gone through you to get in, so I left them alone to check up on you. They seem to be paying their rivalry more attention than anything else; they may not have even noticed my absense yet. Still, leaving them alone for too long strikes me as a bad idea. Help me deal with them, and I suppose I could forgive you."
-
"Y-Yes boss!" Elly nearly ruptures your eardrums with her enthusiasm. "I will do whatever you say boss!"
-
>"Well, come on, then!" say, with a rather impatient smile.
-
"Yes boss!" Elly jumps up and runs out the door at full speed, knocking you over in the process. By the time you manage to get back up, she's a blur on the horizon.
-
>Catch up to her.
-
>For someone that can sleep in so easily, she is rather quick~
-
Indeed. It appears she also forgot her scythe. It's sitting in the umbrella stand.
-
>Grab it and catch up with her.
-
Easier said than done - The scythe is heavy, and holding it in one hand and your parasol in the other makes you feel silly-looking. Not to mention, you're not hugely fast. By the time you get home, she is already there, busily resetting her traps.
-
>"If you're going to remember to go to work, at least remember to be fully equipped."
>Hand her the scythe.
-
Elly takes the scythe from you.
"Eh heh heh... Sorry boss... But it looks like my traps worked after all!"
Sometimes you really worry about this girl.
-
"Did they catch anyone?"
-
"Well, no...But they went off! I'm sure they seriously injured those intruders!"
You cast your mind back to when you first saw the pair. Neither of them had appeared to be particularly injured.
-
"Well we better catch up before they heal then, right?"
-
"I didn't think of that!" She starts running towards the font door, calling over her shoulder for you to hurry up.
-
> Ara, our gate guard is enthusiastic..once awake.
> Follow, get ready to danmaku.
-
>Say "Would it kill you to think things through?" with a raised eyebrow and a small smirk.
-
You follow her, preparing your magic.
When she hears what you said, she turns her head and says "What?", while opening the door...and an amulet comes flying out and hits her on the ear, knocking her over.
-
>Prepare to fight back, whilst helping her up.
>Say to the source of the amulet "That was a very brave move. Continue that little facade and show yourself."
-
As you help your gatekeeper, the shrine maiden comes into view. - Alone, you note.
"Get lost, I've already solved the incident." she says grumpily.
-
>"You are the one who is in my home."
-
The shrine maiden folds her arms
"Huh! What does that have to do with anything!?"
-
>"Well, it's my home. Not yours. Doesn't it seem a little rude just to waltz on in here?"
>Fold our arms.
>"About that incident... do elaborate, if you please."
-
She sniffs at you
"Sorry, but incidents are more important than that sort of thing. And why should I tell you anything?"
-
"Because you are in *my* house, and if you don't tell me, you might have _another_ incident to deal with, and no one wants that"
-
This seems to make her get riled up.
"Hey, are you threatening me? Do you know who I am?" she demands.
-
"You are a very rude guest, who woke me up, and wont tell me anything!"
Stand to our full height and look _down_ at her.
Where's Elly?
-
She glares right back at you
"Why should I care about some dumb youkai?"
Elly is behind you, still slightly dizzy.
-
Okay we have humored the vermin enough.
*Smile*
"Because this is the Dream Mansion of the Ultimate Sadistic Creature, Kazami Yuka!"
Throw-down a spell card.
(What spell cards do we have?)
-
Spellcards haven't been invented yet, silly!
(You can attack physically, with danmaku, or with a spark or two)
After your proclamation, the shrine maiden readies herself for a fight.
-
Lets start some danmaku!
Nothing too fancy at first.
-
Yes, but keep it fast. We can tire her out for a big finale.
-
You start firing off some danmaku in concentric circles, followed by smaller bullets that appear to flow like liqid before dispersing, constantly alternating between the two. The shrine maiden manages to dodge them, but she looks harried. Meanwhile you're finding it trivial to dodge her rigid patterns now that the witch is gone.
-
> "Oh, a little too fast for you?"
>Increase the velocity and amount of bullets
-
She's getting decidedly out of breath.
"I...won't lose...to you..."
From the corner of your eye, you see Elly about to leap into action.
-
Try and keep Reimu's attention away from Elly. At the moment that Elly attacks split in two, so Reimu has to deal with three attackers.
How much would a double spark at Reimu endanger Elly.
-
You reverse the direction your danmaku rotates, forcing the shrine maiden to focus her attention on dodging. Elly moves off to the side and you nod at her to begin attacking. As she does, you split yourself in two...or not. For some reason, it's not working. This has never happened before!
She wouldn't be in any danger, but the point is sort of moot anyway.
-
>Just a regular Spark, then?
-
You sigh with relief as your Spark works as normal. The shrine maiden flies of to the side to avoid it, and gets hit in the stomach with the butt of Elly's scythe. She falls to the ground and curls up, whimpering.
-
"Elly! Get a chair and some rope." Stand over our intruder.
-
"Yes boss!" Elly hurries inside.
The shrine maiden looks up at you
"Guh... What are you planning?"
-
>"Oh, just showing you a little..'Hospitality'."
-
She glares at you, but you can see that she's getting anxious.
It's not long before Elly comes running back carrying a coil of rope over her shoulder and dragging a chair behind her.
"Huff, huff... I got them, boss!"
-
"Well, you can guess what's about to happen, Elly."
Smirk at the shrine maiden, "And so can you."
-
(was going to post, but that is just too perfect.)
-
"Righty-o boss!" Elly salutes smartly, then grabs the shrine maiden and shoves her onto the chair. The shrine maiden looks like she's about to run, but then she catches sight of the expression on your face and stops.
"Hey, can't we just talk about this?" she asks hopefully.
-
"What is your name?"
-
>Smile in that typically menacing way we usually do. "There will be time for 'talking about this' after I have finished deciding what sort of punishment a trespasser like you should receive."
-
"R-Reimu Hakurei" as she speaks, Elly starts tying her to the chair.
"No, no, you see, I was just solving an incident... haha..."
Elly finishes the last knot.
"All done boss!" she reports.
-
>Smile in an even more dangerous way. "Incident..? Is that what you children call breaking into someone's house these days~?"
>Smile to Elly in that usual serene way we also use. "Well done. I believe it is about time for lunch? One loses track of time so easily when certain 'incidents' happen, no? To borrow a phrase."
>What was she talking about with Incidents? We've just been going though life in a rather bored manner haven't we?
-
>Flash Reimu the most disarmingly sadistic grin we can manage.
"I do hope you're comfortable~! Since you went to all that trouble to solve that... incident... surely I can be hospitable..."
>Turn to go, then turn back, "I'd love to hear more about this incident later~"
-
"No, no, it's just that there were a lot of youkai and stuff coming from this direction...and I... thought the cause...must be here..." she trails off.
Elly looks momentarily confused, but she quickly catches what you mean "Yeah boss, I'm starvin'."
Now that you think about it, you do recall a migration wave passing by the house yesterday. Maybe that's what she got worked up over.
"Hospitable...?" Reimu seems confused.
Your intentions finally dawn on her
"Hey! You can't just leave me here!" She attempts to break free but only succeeds in making the chair fall over.
-
Giggle almost hysterically, enough to unnerve her.
"Oh, silly girl. Come on, Elly, let's leave our guest to herself~"
-
Reimu spits out a long string of curses at you. You wonder where she picked them up, you've never heard half of them before.
-
>"My~ Perhaps I should bring some soap when I return~?"
-
That line appears to make them come even faster. You think she's making some of them up - After all, who would ever use the word "Narfenbender"?
-
>"Well, aren't we excitable~? I envy you, being this energetic so early in the morning~"
>Turn to look at her over our shoulder in that typical enigmatic, yet dangerous way. "...Oh, one more thing dear~ The 'Incident' you speak of? Merely a Youkai Migration, they happen often in this region~ When you want a change of pace, you move around furniture, yes? Well, Youkai move themselves~"
-
"Liar! It's totally your fault! Get back here and fight me fair and square!" There's something pathetic about her, you'd almost feel sorry for her if she hadn't broken into your house and attempted to beat you up.
-
> Lets have a nice lunch. Close enough for her to hear us.
-
Picnics are always fun!
You head inside to get some food, but can't help but feel you've forgotten something...
"Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
You look up just in time to see the witch before she crashes into you.
It hurts... You're blacking out...
You are now Yuka. You have just regained conciousness. There are two people looking down at you.
-
Stand up.
Who are the two figures?
-
You quickly push yourself up and look at the pair. Looks like it's Reimu and Marisa. And they look angry for some reason. Huh.
-
>"Well, hello!"
>Smile sweetly, just to troll annoy them.
-
They... don't look amused.
"Yuka. What the hell were you thinking?" Reimu asks sternly.
-
>"It depends. Which recent event are you talking about?"
-
"Don't you dare play dumb with me! You've been slaughtering everything in sight, is what I'm talking about!"
-
> Errr..what..wait..
> "How are my flowers?"
-
You have absolutely no idea what she's talking about.
The two share a glance.
"What do flowers have to do with it?"
-
"If I went crazy, then my flowers might be in danger! I have to see!"
-
"Woah, hold up there! We won't let you get away just like that!" Marisa moves to cut you off.
Reimu looks furious. "Shut up about the damn flowers! This is serious! People are dead because of you!"
-
>"I didn't kill anyone. Although that might change if you don't tell me why you think I did."
-
"This is getting annoying. We both saw you, Yuka. Stop trying to deny it."
-
>"I recall no such thing. Although the village was oddly deserted when I passed through there."
-
"That's because the entire village is freeloading at my shrine, since they're hidng from you!" Reimu stamps her foot.
"Uhh Reimu, saying that makes you sound a bit...uhh, like your priorities aren't right."
-
"If you just tell me what I've been doing instead of whining and complaining, maybe we could actually get somewhere. I have no recollection of what happened, okay? So don't get whinging at me!!"
-
"Fine then.
Earlier today, you were seen entering the human village. Once there, you began attacking people. One man was killed, several people were injured. As soon as we heard what was happening, Marisa and I rushed over to help, but before we could stop you, you managed to slip away in the confusion.
Clear enough for you?"
-
Try to double.
-
You attempt to split yourelf into two, but absolutely nothing happens. That's odd.
-
"Well, this is a bizarre turn of events..."
-
> Think about how we would feel asking Eirin to look at us.
-
>"I can provide some information that may be relevant. First, I just tried to split into two, but was unable to do so. ANd second, I've had dreams where I'm... well, me, but a different me. I haven't been going on a rampage or anything; in fact, you two were attacking my mansion-and yes, I have a mansion in the dream. There may be a connection, though. And in the dream, I was also unable to split myself in two, which may be important."
-
>"More importantly, I'm fairly sure that I was still unconscious earlier today after some random soul attack me from behind."
>We get knocked out, have odd dreams, and now we're being framed. This is not our day.
-
"Ya think?"
That may be a good idea. You don't know how good of a doctor she is, or even whether a doctor could help, but it's worth a shot, right?
Reimu and Marisa share a glance, then chorus
"You can split yourself in two?"
Of course they would focus on that.
"Do you think, maybe, that it happened during that time and maybe you can't remember?" Reimu looks somewhat skeptical. You notice that they seem extra careful compared to usual. Maybe they're afraid?
Don't forget getting lost and your flowers getting damaged. ^_^
-
>"Wait.. if I can't split myself in two, and someone who is basically me has been rampaging... maybe I already split myself in two and my clone was the one rampaging!!"
>Blink at the pair, "You didn't know I could do that?"
-
>"It's a little spell I picked up quite a long time ago you know, quite handy in tending to the flowers."
-
>"And speaking of my flowers, whoever attacked me did harm to them. SO I'm going to find whoever it was, and they're going to pay. And now they're framing me, too. I am not in a good mood, and I'm going to take it out on whoever's responsible."
-
>"If you want to help, feel free. Just stay out of my rage-path if you know what's good for you."
-
>"Wait.. if I can't split myself in two, and someone who is basically me has been rampaging... maybe I already split myself in two and my clone was the one rampaging!!"
>Blink at the pair, "You didn't know I could do that?"
>"It's a little spell I picked up quite a long time ago you know, quite handy in tending to the flowers."
Their expressions have gone from accusatory to comforting. You're not sure which is worse.
>"And speaking of my flowers, whoever attacked me did harm to them. SO I'm going to find whoever it was, and they're going to pay. And now they're framing me, too. I am not in a good mood, and I'm going to take it out on whoever's responsible."
>"If you want to help, feel free. Just stay out of my rage-path if you know what's good for you."
"Hey now, don't lose your head."
It seems the pair are treating you like a psychopath, like you're going to just start rampaging all of a sudden. How annoying.
-
>"Don't be so wary. I won't rampage unless I have to!!"
>Give them a creepy, unnerving smile just for laughs.
-
They appear suitably freaked out.
-
>Suppress a laugh, "Right, I think I should further investigate this current twist of affairs~!"
-
>"Would either of you happen to know where this imposter was last seen heading? Or at least where you have already searched before visiting me?"
>Should we stop with the smile? Nah, might as well have some fun with it, they did just barge in after all.
-
It takes a moment for your words to actually reach Reimu's brain
"H-Hey, wait! You can't just leave! You..."
-
> Look over our shoulder "Yes? You can come if you wish."
-
>Smile sweetly. "I don't have all day after all, who knows where this impostor could have gotten to by now, and I don't intend to let them get away without meting out a little punishment~"
-
Reimu hurries to catch up with you
"Hmph! I'll let you do what you want, but I'm gonna be keeping an eye on you! Don't try any funny business!"
-
>"And the same to you."
>Continue at a slightly faster speed.
-
"What's that supposed to... Hey, wait up! Where are you going?"
-
>"Not sure. Wherever I feel seems important. Where did you first hear of 'my' rampages? Always start at the start, that's why it's called the start."
-
>Smile. "After all, is this not an investigation? I recall picking up a rather nice book one day on the subject~ Perhaps I should loan it to you whenever I locate it~"
-
Investigation Mode Activated!
Reimu seems mystified by the way you're acting.
"Umm... Well, the first thing I heard about was the human village..."
-
>"Oh, that's interesting. All clues are good clues, Reimu, remember that!"
>Let's go to the Human Village!
-
You weren't very far from the village, so it takes almost no time at all to get there. It looks exactly the same as it did earlier - Completely empty.
-
>Search ALL the houses!
>And try to be polite...
-
For politeness' sake, you knock before entering. Obviously, there is no reply, so you enter anyway.
"Hey! What are you doing!?" Reimu clearly does not understand proper investigation procedure.
-
>"Haven't you ever investigated something? You're supposed to check the crime scene and search for clues!"
>Back to investigating; maybe she'll learn something.
-
This shuts her up at least, though she doesn't do anything more than just stand there. It'd be useful if she actually helped.
You find nothing of particular interest in this house, although you admire the owner's taste in interior design.
You are also getting that feeling that has started becoming all to familiar lately; that you've forgotten something.
-
>Point at Reimu, "Either you can start helping, or you can go and leave me to do this alone. Your choice~!"
>What could we have possibly forgotten? Damn, we forgot the detective's long trenchcoat! (http://suitored.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Aspesi-Military-Trench-Coat-1.jpg)
-
Surprisingly enough, she doesn't complain, and does some (admittedly fairly useless) poking about in the next house you go to.
Somehow, it seems like a familiar feeling of forgetting. Like you've forgotten the same thing before just recently.
-
>Sigh, "Nothing so far... you'd think if I went on a rampage it wouldn't be so empty."
-
>"Hmm...Yes...There would be far more ruined buildings, and craters as well. This looks more like they all just up and left for parts unknown."
-
Reimu seems to be unable to meet your gaze
"Ehehe... Well... I didn't exactly see you rampaging myself per se... I just sort of heard about it from the villagers..."
Seems there's been some exaggeration somewhere along the line here.
-
>Shrug. "It sounds as if someone's been playing the Whisper Game with the rumor~"
-
>Fistpalm, "Maybe I just walked through and SOMEHOW intimidated them and they all upped-sticks and ran away~?"
-
Reimu scratched her head. "Well, I'll admit there were a good few different stories... But everyone agreed that there was at least one person dead. Besides, you're not that scary."
-
>Crack up the scariest and most sadistic grin we have ever managed, making sure to make our eyes evil, too, "Oh, am I not?"
>Shake it off once Reimu has reacted, "But in all seriousness, this is truly a conundrum..."
-
Mission: Scare Reimu
"...That's weird, stop it."
Status: Failed
"Yeah..."
As usual, Reimu is being decidedly useless.
-
>Sigh in irritation, "We are going nowhere with your half-assed attitude..."
>Let's go investigate another house.
-
Reimu snorts and moves into the next house.
"Ah... blood!"
Once she moves out of the way, you can see that she's right. There are small puddles of blood on the floor. As you look around, you recall that this was the place you found that injured guy before. Presumably he was the source of the blood.
-
>"Ah, this was the house where I found that injured man. He should still be at Eientei recovering from his wounds if I'm not mistaken."
-
"Huh? What? What injured man?"
Reimu suddenly seems very insistant. What's gotten into her?
-
>"I was looking around a while back, trying to make sense of why the village was so empty, and I came across a wounded person lying here. He was indeed still alive though, so I took him to Eientei to be treated."
>Smirk. "What? You didn't expect me to do something like that? Are you surprised to consider that I can be capable of kindness as well?"
-
"Oh... so he's not dead then..."
For some reason, Reimu sounds disappointed. And people call you sadistic!
"Eh! No! Not at all! No way! Nope!"
Uh-huh.
-
>Grin. "It's rather pointless to harm those who can't fight back you know. It's more enjoyable if they can."
-
"Ah, I suppose... I really waasn't thinking you would do that you know!"
-
>Smirk, "Hardly surprising. I don't have the best kindness record in your books, do I?"
>Shrug, "But that doesn't bother me."
-
"I...Uh...Sorry."
You have unlocked the rare achievement : Make Reimu apologize for something
"So... what happened to that guy?"
-
>Shrug, "Not entirely sure, I think he got injured by something. Dropped him off at Eientei to get fixed up. In fact, he didn't seem like he was too delighted to see me when I got there. A little scared, if anything."
-
"Right...So...What are we doing here again?"
Annoying as it is, she's right. There doesn't seem to be anything else to discover here. And yet, you still haven't remembered that thing from before... It's like... something's missing.
-
>"It still feels as if we're missing something. But what could it be...?"
>"Perhaps we should visit Eientei to gather information from that injured man, he might be able to shed some light on this mystery."
-
>Clap decisively, "Yes, we shall do that. Come on, then~"
>Let's go!
-
You quickly turn to go to the Bamboo forest. Reimu, who of course hadn't been listening, realises that you've left and has to hurry to catch up with you.
It doesn't take long to arrive at the forest. This time though, there is no helpful rabbit to guide you.
-
>"....Drat, that rabbit isn't here. You wouldn't happen to be able to get to Eientei would you? I had to rely on one of those rabbits to get there when I was carrying that man."
-
"Heheh. Don't worry, I can use my intuition to guide us!"
Reimu quickly sets off into the forest.
-
>Let's follow after her then!
>"I knew you were good for something dear~ Your investigative talents leave something to be desired, but at least you can do this much~"
-
Unfortunately, it seems that in order to use her intuition, Reimu has to switch to incident-solving mode. She has already beaten up several innocent fairies. Thankfully though, she seems to have designated you as "support" and isn't attacking you. She is also ignoring everything you say, but that's hardly unusual.
You quickly arrive at Eientei, but Reimu doesn't seem to have switched off her incident-mode and appears to be set on marching in and beating everyone to a pulp.
-
>Tap Reimu on the head gently with our parasol.
>"Ah, Reimu dear, now isn't the time to be picking a fight with the very people we came to gather information from~"
-
"Ow! Hey what was that for? This is how I work, okay?"
It seems to have worked though, as you can see a rabbit nearby making a dash for freedom and not getting incinerated.
-
>"And we've already arrived at the destination, in case you haven't noticed~?"
-
>Grin, "Or were you too busy gallavanting about and attacking anything in sight? Because, unless I was watching someone else entirely, that was what you were doing, dear~"
-
Reimu opens her mouth to retort, ut before she can say anything, you hear a voice
"What is going on out here?!"
The doctor is standing in the doorway, surveying the unconscious rabbits and fairy remnants around you.
-
>Point at Reimu, "That's what's going on out here."
>Smile, "Hello. I dropped off an injured man earlier. We'd like to ask him a few questions. Is he still here?"
-
Apologies for the hiatus. I had stuff that needed doing. (It's okay to bump this back up right?)
The doctor groans. "I might have known."
Thankfully, Reimu either ignored this, or simply didn't hear it.
"Oh yes, he's still out of it, but he ought to be waking up soon. Do...Do you want to come in and wait?" It was painfully obvious that she really didn't want to invite the two of you inside her house.
-
Go in anyway. We have our pride!
-
>Smile somewhat, in a sincere way. "Don't worry though dear, I at least have my pride as a woman of elegance, so I have no reason to cause trouble."
>Chuckle a little. "Though it seems that dear little Reimu had other plans, bless her little heart~"
-
"What was that?!" Reimu flares up yet again.
The doctor gives a forced smile. "I guess you should come in then." She turns and leads the way inside.
-
Chuckle again. "Are you growing old already, Reimu? You seem a bit hard of hearing."
-
"Why you..." Reimu begins gearing herself up, but...
"If you two start fighting, I'm kicking you out." The doctor finally put her foot down. "And that goes for provoking too"
-
>Sigh slightly, in an amused way. "Very well, since my pride as a woman dictates that I must be a good guest~"
-
The doctor nods.
"Good." She then turns to Reimu "And you?"
"Fine."
"Excellent. Now just wait in this room here, I'll see if I can wake him up."
The room she left you in is practically empty. Just a couple of chairs scattered randomly around. Reimu claims one for herself.
You get the feeling you're being watched. You notice half a face just beyond the door at ground-level.
-
>"Identify yourself."
-
>Then smile in our usual way. "If you would be so kind~"
-
The face slithers along the floor, to reveal that it is in fact connected to a head, which itself is connected to a body. Said body picks itself up off the floor, and glares at you.
"I'm the one who should be asking that. Why are you in my house?"
-
Smile. "Why, because I was invited in, dear ~ but if you insist, you can call me Yuuka. And your name?"
-
"Huh? Who invited you in? Why wasn't I consulted? I'm the only one who gets to decide who's allowed in my house. You two can just get out." If her frown gets any deeper, her face will be upside-down.
-
Give her a warm smile, but do not move. We have no intention of leaving. "Why, It was Eirin who invited me in... I apologize, I still didn't catch your name?"
