You've done the whole jumping to conclusions by presuming the worst, having conclusion meteored by what actually happens which is way better than what was expected, then repeating later on a couple times now. But take solace in that you're not the only one who does it. But it is most certainly a cycle and I wonder how many people who do it are aware of it?

Well, everyone has their own opinion, but in all honesty I think it's just been getting more and more interesting with each update. :3

In this case, the once again building and establishing of a new set of kids/trolls, each with their own very detailed personality and quirks. To be honest, it's really starting to feel overdone. Homestuck's text-to-action ration has risen alarmingly as it's gone on, and currently it's through the roof. Virtually nothing has happened in the past couple months, since Cascade, outside a couple dreamself murders.
It's become stuffing characterization and exposition into update after update. The humor is weaker (especially as a vast amount of it is now recycling jokes that were hilarious when they were established, but we've now used multiple times and they're simply not as amusing anymore), and the characters have a hard time holding my interest as they are admittedly mashups of people we've already spent a good deal of time with.
Granted this is entirely my own 2 cents, but that's why I'm confused by Purvis telling me that I'm flatly wrong. :wat:

Interesting. I'm inclined to stand by this one, at the very least, but I'd love to come back to this post later and say "man I was an idiot". I find, however, that most of my impressions of Homestuck have either stayed the same (good and bad!) or deteriorated. I have yet to be truly pleasantly surprised by something I disliked tuning out to be wicked awesome. I stand by many of my previous notes - such as Jade being a terribly boring character (she was Miss Plot Device for a while and she really has yet to exert any personality on anything beyond excitability, with the notable exception of her conversations with Karkat), but again, these are really matters of opinion. The only thing about Homestuck I've really thought was a true negative of the comic rather than my own bias is the length to which Acts 5 and now 6 have been dragged...but of course, that's really opinion too, I guess.

EDIT EDIT: To clarify, I still look forward to seeing what the new kids do. I'm certain, given the track record of AH, that they will turn out to be fairly awesome. But even now that we're past it, I still think Hivebent went on far too long, and the fact that even once he got out of it and had some actual action with the trolls and kids he went back to do it again with the guardians just falls really flat to me.

And yes, Roxy is awesome. I find this mostly because she is not Rose with some of Dave's and maybe a troll or two's traits mixed in (or if she is, she's too drunk to show it). She's the only one who feels fresh to me, and is genuinely fun.

Nah, remember you need one prototype before entering the session, but the second one can be anytime. Aradia prototyped hers with the frog temple, Dave with the Seppucrow, and Jade with Bec all before entering the session, so this is the first time we've seen a failed prototype pre-session.
Regarding the Genesis Frog Tadpole, it landed in the Forge when CD dropped the Barbasol Bunker Buster. Since the Forge is kinda special, it might not actually be destroyed. Or maybe it is, but there's some other kind of consequence of that. Who knows!

You know, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think it's ever been properly explained what happens to the old session after it has Scratched. Is it now considered a Doomed Timeline, and fizzles out like those do? The Beta kids are a bad example, because they flew the coop and their home-universe was destroyed. Ditto the trolls' home universe. But the pre-scratch trolls evidently didn't have anything like that.

Well, Dave's always been on the skinny side.
Personally I think it's nice that he doesn't have the exact same body type as Dirk, both when young as as an adult. It helps mark the differences between them, unlike with say Jake and John, who you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between unless you looked at the spike thingys in their hair closely.

Because I know some of you might find the fact amusing: The Homestuck photoshoot at last Youmacon was the largest photoshoot there (from subjective report + talking with photographers). The ACen 2012 one was even bigger (and was on two separate days no less!).
And if anyone was curious, I was UU on Saturday and my roommate was Brobot. It was *so* much fun being in character, since UU is basically a giant fangirl who loves Homestuck.

The source of the ring's power (and the session's power and basically the whole universe) is Skaia, so I'm not sure bringing a different Skaia will impact the power of the current Skaia. Or something.

He completely destroyed his own session as LE, which made his sprite unable to prototype properly, so it's just absorbing everything. What was with the kids and trolls being there, though? Were they actually inside the session and not in a dream bubble?

I think the sprite became a black hole because that was actually two sprites spawned at the same time in the same place, prototyping each other and dividing by zero.
As for the dreambubble, yes it was the blue dreambubble the meteor entered after the first year, where Roxy: Sleepwalk takes place and where the mayor was healed.

Not really. Prototyping just causes enemies to take on thematic similarities and abilities, it doesn't "make it your enemy." When the trolls prototyped their lusii, it didn't mean "the lusii were their enemies," it just meant that the Black King could attempt a Vast Glub.

This is a collaboration of many people, Let's read Homestuck, that is a complete dub project for the entire comic (sometimes they also do some PS and SBaHJ). The voices are awkward in the beginning and there's even a VA switch for Rose (the new voice is better however), but later they get used to their characters and now I cannot hear them anyway else. I think it worths a look and can be even a better way to get into the comic for newbies.
Right now they just started Act 5 Act 1, that comes with a change of narrators. Interesting that the thing that made me remember to post it was the latest random video of theirs.

Mituna - I don't even know how to feel.
Kurloz - WOW FUCKING SCARY I LITERALLY FREAKED THE FUCK OUT I JUST WHAT THE FUCK???!!! also, Aranea's explanations make it seem really fucking clear that he's to blame for Mituna's state and for Cronus's disillusion with magic. This guy is bad fucking news.
Cronus - What a d bag. I do think it's clever that Hussie made him have a lot of the traits the fandom gives Eridan (that he actually doesn't have) like hitting on everyone, saying nyeh (well he said it once), and the Harry Potter thing (which was funny though also fucking freaky cuz of the foreshadowing embedded in there).

I was under the impression that they were referring to Caliborn, though they were saying his name wrong. Calliope taught Roxy her name, saying that if she said the name aloud, she would take control of their shared body. I guess I just figured that saying Caliborn's name would do something too... though if he's the one in control I'm not sure what. I don't know where this train of thought is going.

Karkat was such a sweetie in the big update. Meenah's crush on him is hilariously cute and adds to both of their cuteness... I've always found her kind of cute anyway though. Her defending of Mituna when Cronus was being a huge dickbag just further shows that her meanness isn't really mean spirited, if that makes any sense.

Gamzee doesn't seem evil for any greater purpose than satisfaction of his own juggalo desires, I think.
Also: Shim and I are in alignment about Meenah, she really has grown on me since her first appearance. I am kinda charmed how quickly she gives up on being mean, and how'll she'll just randomly enjoy things.
Also Cronus is horrible and it's perfect. Jam hit it right on the money. (I can't wait for octopimp to voice him).

So, I don't really follow Homestuck personally, but I saw something related to it on Tumblr that is probably glaringly obvious but I think you all would be interested in.
The hammer John is using against the black cat guy (...Bec Noir? I'm not sure) fairly obviously uses Vriska's text style and seems to be named after her. That much is clear. And from what I understand since I've not been following, this is taking place within a dream that John is having because he fell asleep for no reason, yes?
According to this thing I saw, the last time John fell asleep for no reason, it was actually Vriska who caused it. I don't know when she last appeared in the comic, but maybe she's influencing this dream directly?
