Irony: In the days before this announcement, I was actually preparing to write a novel of my own anyway. I have a general idea down for it which I'm probably gonna be able to build on anyway.
Spoiler:
(It stars a certain dolphin girl, now getting her own setting and universe.)

Well, now I have more incentive to write it.

LET'S

Just so people know, the entire point of NaNoWriMo is to train your consistency in writing. Just writing. Not in thinking up stories, not in clever wordplay, not in literary craftmanship. Just writing.

The point is all that stuff can be taken care of later, and the first copy will always suck anyways so there's no point in trying to make it good, just make it.
Huh. This is pretty much the opposite of my attitude towards anything. When writing something, I tend to tinker around mentally for quite some time until I find the precise phrasing I am comfortable with, that precise phrasing often having the form of quite lengthy and convoluted sentence-structures which upon proper reading are still correct and coherent, containing vocabulary that is overly technical, so that a maximized amount of information can be squeezed into a minimized amount of words while still being digest- and understandable, at least for me.
For perspective, in high school I usually had one of the lowest word-count per exam, yet had one of the better grades most of the time.
Actually, this is evidence that it may be not that bad an idea to join. Then again I don't have the neccessary product of time, inclination and dertermination to finish such a task.  :derp:

So yeah, good luck and a tip of my hat to everone who endulges in this most ambitious activity.  :moogy:

I have actually wanted to write a little fanfiction of my own. I definitely won't be doing this thing, but I wouldn't mind writing a little something along with you folks~

I might as well write 2,500 words per day total (2,000 in NaNoWriMo, 500 outside) because I promised myself that I would resume Ragnarok Syndrome, Gensokyo on Starboard, The Shortest Story Ever Told and Parasol of the Glazed Moon.

I also have IT'S A SECRET TO EVERYBODY as well.

Too much!

1700 words is like 3 pages single spaced with no breaks or anything.

Like I said before, Girls with Ties (and with that, Trash of the New Generation) utterly failed because I had almost no control or plans for how the stories would go. It was a train wreck waiting to happen (but it did anyways!).

Remember though, when you wrote it you probably did it in chunks every once in a while when you felt like it. And when you did you probably proofread while you wrote.

Now it's just write write write, every day 1700 words, which should take around an hour or two provided you don't waste your time.

Who says I can't make a VN script though? BV

Yeah, but with concentration and procrastination as my greatest foes, this is never the less a bit intimidating. Never the less, I'll think about giving it a go, who knows.

This thread will probably be important in NaNoWriMo because it'll be the thread where we brainstorm and make the stupidest ideas ever so that you can continue your journey to 50K WORDS.

A romantic scenario that involves Nitori's washing machine.

An army of clones, armed with rocket launchers, trying to steal pies.

They are held off by a furious duck and his seventeen grizzly bear allies.

A pitched battle ensues and threatens to destroy the world, when SUDDENLY

Michael Jackson rises from the grave and proclaims himself Jesus Take Three.

(oh my god this rhymes, I wrote the whole thing and looked back at it and oh my god it rhymes ahahahahahahaaa)
