>This place is at least tidy, even if there seems little pattern to what is shelved where.
>Nothing seems appears enchanted, as far as you can tell; or if it is, it's shoved unassumingly between some floral skirt and a plaid smoking jacket.

>Accounting for the ferry ride into Val Razua, you currently have 214 guilders.

>Okay, so, what did we need.... A lighter cloak than we have, a pair of gloves, preferably grey, and either a veil or a scarf. No, probably a light scarf, that's more up our street.
>Barring the need to attend the opera or something in the next day or two, do we feel in need of any other articles of clothing?

>Gloves are an obvious purchase. A scarf could cover the marks on your face for now, though it would need to be tied somewhat oddly to comfortably cover halfway up one cheek - or else be very poofy. Strictly speaking, you don't know that you'd have any immediate need for another cloak, if these two articles covered the blight adequately; the one you have still isn't quite your size, but it served you well enough through that rainstorm last week.
>Unless you're concerned with matters of fashion, you think the rest of your clothing is fine enough for now; the pants you picked up in Isir's Cross are kind of ugly, but at least they're not too uncomfortable.

>All right, we have our shopping list.
>A pair of gloves, elbow length if possible, in black or grey.
>Either a veil or a light scarf, whichever will serve our purpose better, again in black or grey.
>And if we can find an outfit like the damaged one we have on the cheap along the way, more's the better.
>Let's get to it.

>Let's get to it.

>With your shopping list in mind, you set to sifting through the cluttered racks of clothing that line the shop. Too big, too small, too ugly, pants. For as much variety of clothing as this place has, it's remarkably difficult to find anything specific. Oh, that dress is kinda nice and breazy; might be good on hot summer days if you... if you had time to ponder what to wear if you're still alive next week. You put it back.
>As you approach the end of the first aisle, you hear footsteps rapidly descending some kind of staircase that must be concealed behind the maze of inventory.
>"Sorry, sorry," a woman calls out in a nasal voice before ducking into view between a rack of neckties and a pair of ballroom gowns. She doffs a rather tired-looking bowler hat and sketches a little bow. "Welcome to Donovan Clothiers. What can I do ya for?"
>...those ears and tail. She's a... a rat.

>It certainly feels like the universe is having a very long laugh at your expense right now.
>The woman's barely taller than you are, and you're armed. Not so big now, are you?
>Twice. And they were both absolute jerks.

>One upside to meeting Yuuka is that you now may be able to go a very long time without meeting a bigger jerk. ...hopefully.
>"Finding it a mite nippy, are we?" The rat almost, but not quite, snickers.

>You don't know if there properly is such a thing. You don't feel you have a 'mouse' accent, anyway.
>"Black's a good color if I do say so m'self," the rat says, tugging lightly on her black vest. You might even describe it as rather stylish under other circumstances. "Come along, let's see wot we can dig you up."
>And with that, she turns and disappears between the clothing once more.

>Not that you recall. That was years ago, though.
>Actually makes you wonder if your nose is starting to fritz out now, too. Wouldn't that be fun.... Stifling a sigh, you follow after the rat.
>Whatever else you might be able to say about her, she does seem to know her shop well. She narrows in on one shelf after only a few moments poking at another, and then produces a pair of long black gloves from them, as if by magic.
>"How do these suit ya?" she asks, giving them a little wave.

>They are more than sufficiently long; your shirt is long-sleeved as it is, so the gloves don't need to be particularly unusual. These are slightly longer than most, though, with deep gold edging along the bottom.
>Nothing about the place smells dirty as such....
>"'course!" the rat says in a chipper voice and presents them in your direction with a small flourish.

>You take the gloves with your good hand, then take care not to expose the other while you slip them on. They're... actually surprisingly comfortable. The size is good, they're nice and soft on the inside, maybe just a little stiff?
>"Eight and a half guilders," she says smoothly. "And they're right sturdy-like too, I guarantee."

>Probably! But you never had the misfortune to deal with them in any capacity besides an exchange of unpleasantries - one of them even ended up head-first in a bowl of noodles for their troubles. Served 'em right.
>You're hazy right now in many ways, but the price doesn't seem bad on the face of it.

>Never thought we'd be following a rat twice in one day, but, do so.

>You follow the almost irksomely polite rat to the other end of the store, where she pauses in front of a series of wall hooks laden with dozens of scarves, from wispy silken things to a woolen behemoth that could probably ward off the next ice age and still leave fabric enough to trip up in.
>"Take your pick. Silk's 14, most of the rest are 6 if they're plain, 8 if they're fancy. 'cept this thing." She pats the behemoth gently. "Could practically replace a coat, it could. Might be a wee bit long on ya, but it will keep ya warm, I guarantee."
