>Am I in the console?
>...delete system32
Nope. You are lost in a bamboo forest within the Land of Illusion.
[4] Somewhere, somehow, the "system32" folder and its contents were deleted from a computer.

>uh, revive
BGM

You find yourself in Gensokyo's Bamboo Forest of the Lost...

[5] ...Only this time, you find yourself armed with a baseball bat.

> Begin selling the water from the spring while claiming that it's better for one's health than normal water.
[3] (+1) There are no signs of life nearby, but you come up with a plan for selling the water from your spring.

NEW QUEST - The Moneymaker: Find your way out of the forest and seek out potential customers.

> Take to the shrine at the mountaintop. Hopefully there are folks to peacefully introduce yourself to.
[3] You hike up the mountain path to the shrine. By the time you get there, you are tired and dehydrated from the climb. As you walk up to the gate, you notice a girl in red and white staring at you with a slight smirk. She is holding a rod with paper trails attached to one end in one hand and a bundle of long, sharp needles in the other.

BGM

"Ara...", she says with an emotionless voice. "You must be from the outside world. If you're planning on attacking me or destroying my shrine, I suggest you leave. Now."

She begins to walk towards you.

It's kinda hard to make peace with anyone when you're armed with two gigantic machine-guns, right?

NEW QUEST - Smooth Talker: Convince the shrine maiden that you're not willing to do any harm before she tries to kill you.

>Confusedly stumble off somewhere new to find headache relief
>Failing that, try to find something to cure headache or shrug it off
[5] BONUS: Your next roll gets 1 added to it.
You stumble across a medium-sized patch of grass. After deeming it safe, you lie down and relax. Within a few hours, you feel like your normal self again.

>"Ah, hello, Miss Kamashirasawa! You may not know me despite me knowing you, and it is a long story which you probably wouldn't care hearing. But that's beside the point. The point is I am sort of new to flying and sort of sprained my ankle here. Or both of them. If you have any painkillers or know of anyone who has them or who can just magic my ankles back to normal, that would be great. I would really appreciate it. Seriously, I really could use the help. Please." But try to remain dignified while on the ground asking for assistance.
>About that railgun...is it attached to me? Is it a familiar? Does it accept remote commands? This could be important and I need the information!
>"Also, Keine - Can I call you Keine? - Could you bring me anything to drink? Or know where I can get something to drink otherwise? I'm fairly thirsty."
[3] Keine looks at your ankles quizzically, then back at you. "I'm no specialist at curing pain, but I do know of a person who is able to do so. Her name is Eirin Yagokoro, and she lives in Eientei. Perhaps she may be of help to you."

Your railgun has the following features:
  • An ambidextrous glove on its trigger assembly that clamps on your hand.
  • A rotating plate that adjusts to fit across the shoulder for increased aiming accuracy and improved stability while firing.
  • A built-in turret and detachable remote control allowing for directional and firing control.
  • Did I mention it's nuclear-powered and fires gamma rays?
In other words, you didn't roll a 6 for nothing.

[4] "Yes, you may call me Keine. There is a well in the center of the village where you can get water to drink. If you need any help from me, you can find me at the schoolhouse." She points towards a large building, which you assume to be the schoolhouse she's talking about. "You also might want to visit Hieda no Akyuu. An outsider like you can learn many vital things from her."

> Bottle some of the water for now then and look for an exit.
[3] You fill your one-liter canteen with some spring water and walk back out onto the mountain road. As the path gets more uneven, you trip and scrape your knees. It's not too bad, but there is visible bleeding. There is also the possiblity that the wound will get infected if left neglected.

WARNING: Mend the wound within four turns.

>Alright, to-do list updated. Now... "Hmm...wait, Eientei is in the Bamboo Forest, and I just came from there...huh. Maybe I didn't think that through well enough. But if all who enter get lost, how can I find a mansion that doesn't want to be found? And could you get me something I could use to- wait, right, flying. Nevermind that. No actions were performed

[2] You attempt to fly, but since your ankles are hurt you find it very difficult to bring yourself up and take to the skies.

[6] Still sitting on the ground, you hoist the gun with your left hand and adjust the clamp to fit your shoulder. You then place your left hand in the glove and tighten it with your free hand. As you engage the nuclear power supply, the device glows and lets out a steady AC hum. If you could stand, you'd probably look somewhat like this.

>Alright, now that I feel better, let's find someone to interact with.
Ambient sounds to set the tone

[1](+1) As you wake up from your rest, you notice that the sun has set half-way behind the distant mountains. As night rolls over Gensokyo and eerie sounds begin to emanate from unknown sources, you begin to feel very insecure and vulnerable by being alone like this.

>what's the stats of my bamboo spear?
>Leave bamboo forest, head towards human village.
The bamboo spear is fairly light, but it appears to be very sturdy and structurally sound. It can be used as a stabbing or swinging weapon.

[6] As the sun sets behind the mountains and night falls, you feel more determined than ever to get somewhere safe. This determination somehow heigtens your awareness, and you quickly make it out of the forest. As the sky darkens further, you notice an expanse of flicking light in the distance. After a tiring run, you make it to the human village, where you find an unmatched sock sitting on the ground and a silver-haired woman wearing a peculiar piece of headgear.
"You must be an outsider as well..." she says. "You two should be grateful for having made it here at a time like this. Perhaps you can stay here and join us..."

> Start simple. Introduce yourself, name and title. Err... What were those again?

>> insert name {Derryck Varner}
>> insert title {farmhand}

> Just introduce yourself as a Mr. "Derryck Varner," and say you're some farmer's son. That'll probably excuse the firearms. Farmers use machine guns, right?
> Try and convince her you just got a bit lost on an errand to the village, wherever that may be from here. Make sure you exaggerate on youkai presence and trying to defend yourself.
> Check the weather and time of day. If it's looking like it's an overcast or nearly nighttime, request the night here.
[2] Hoping to avoid any violence, you quickly respond with, "I am Derryck Varner, a farmhand from [REDACTED]. I mean no harm whatsoever."
Unfortunately your attempt to convince her must not have been very successful, because she throws several needles right at you.
[4] You dodge them like a boss and yell, "JUST GET ME TO THE VILLAGE!!!"
"There!" the shrine maiden points to the northwest with her rod. "You better not cause any trouble, or I'll go there and exterminate you personally!"

As the last sliver of the sun begins to disappear into the horizon, you wonder if you should stay at the shrine for the night. The sight of the girl holding more needles up at you quickly dissolves that thought.

>get un-lost
[2] You're still lost.

>Arrive late to a new Roll to Dodge game, muttering something about how the previous one kind of ended up going nowhere.
Ambient sounds to set the tone

[5] The last thing you remember before being blacking out and waking up in a strange bamboo forest was that you were on your way back home after dumping garbage into the collection bin. However, the way back seemed to be longer than usual, and for some reason you still don't understand what happened next. All that matters right now is that you are standing in a creepy forest with ActionDan, Dudu Zombolt, and bigyihsuan in the dark...

...Oh, and you also have a switchblade.

It had to be that opening, was it.
>Spend the last three missed updates collecting gried seeds
Yes. That opening is a classic.

[4] You find several hidden among the bamboo stalks.

At this point in the game, several of you are at the same location, close together, or even face to face with each other. If you would like to cooperate with others, here's a suggested procedure to do so:
  • Communicate your actions. Private messaging (provided by the forum) is the best way to do so, but if you somehow know the user you wish to communicate with outside of the forum, Facebook, text messaging, and other methods work just as well.
  • Make an agreement with those who you wish to cooperate with and mention that in your command. For example, you can write, "While [user] is [their action], [your action]." Joint actions are also possible, just mention that you are doing so.
I will still roll for each player separately.

> Hightail it to the human village and try to find a comfy place to sleep. Rooftop, dark alleyway, some crazy old lady's back yard... No wait, those are all places you DON'T want to be in the middle of the night! Just figure it out when you get there!

[4] As adrenaline surges through your body, you leap down the stone stairs and sprint away from the Hakurei Shrine, hauling ass your gear straight towards the Human Village as fast as possible. You reach its perimeter, where several guards open the gate once they identify you as human.

BGM

As you walk down the bustling torch-lit street, you see the following:
  • Several small houses
  • Several shops and bars
  • A traditional Japanese mansion
  • A schoolhouse
  • What appears to be a hotel
  • Several narrow alleyways
Among the passersby you also see a silver-haired woman wearing a strange object on her head, talking to LaserTurtle and an unmatched sock, whom you met for a short while in the expansive forest.

QUEST FAILED: Smooth Talker

>engage in social link with unmatched sock
You decide to follow and help an unmatched sock.

>Something must have gone wrong at the Misty Lake when trying to learn ice magic from Cirno, unless that's non-canon now. Ah well, might as well look around and see if I see Mystia or any other familiar faces.
[6] After coming upon a small grassy patch in the middle of the forest, you find Mystia feeding on an unidentifiable body. She looks up at you and flies in your direction.
"What brings you here? Are you lost?"
She seems to show no hostile intentions towards you. After all, it looks like she just had a grand meal. PX is standing at a far distance from her with a facial expression best described as one of disbelief and intense horror.

> Use some of the canteen water to wash the scrapes.
[3] You sit down by the side of the road and wash the scrape on your knee. You tilt the canteen, and more water than necessary spills out onto the wound. However, it now appears to be well-cleaned, and should fully heal in a day or two.

>to LasterTurtle "Oh? Hail, new person! Would you mind helping me? I seem to not be quite skilled at flying yet, and I happened to have a slight ankle mishap. It also appears to be getting dark. A hand to get on my feet would be greatly appreciated."
>>If assistance is offered, "Right side, my boy. Don't want you to get accidentally irradiated." Heft the nuclear arm for emphasis.
>>EMPHASIS!
>to Keine "I appreciate the offer, and I may for at least tonight. To be frank, I'm not sure how I got here, but I'm also not sure I want to go back. Do you know of any place we, or maybe I, depending on whether or not he decides to tag along with me, could rest for the evening?"
>Complete social link with LaserTurtle
[6] LaserTurtle lifts you up from your right, and as you stand up your ankles pop into place with a sharp crack.
"I appreciate the offer, and I may for at least tonight. To be frank, I'm not sure how I got here, but I'm also not sure I want to go back. Do you know of any place we, or maybe I, depending on whether or not he decides to tag along with me, could rest for the evening?"
"Follow me. There's a hotel you two can stay at for the night."
She leads the two of you to a primitive-looking hotel built out of wooden panels. Flickering candles light the doorway. An attendant is sitting behind a window, appearing to be half-asleep.

>use baseball bat to get un-lost
[4] You swing the bat at the tall stalks of bamboo, breaking them down until a path opens to the end of the forest. You notice what appears to be a village not too far away from where you are.

>I dunno, maybe dig into the ground and hide in a hole? Or something? From the flesh-eating Youkai?
[1] You dig a fairly deep hole and hide in it. As you ease yourself into the mud, the surrounding foundation collapses, burying you in several feet of slimy substance. As you desperately try to free yourself, oxygen loss sets in and you die of asphyxiation.

>Ascend the nearby mountain until summit is reached.
Ambient background sounds

[5] You climb to the top of the nearest mountain. Under the moonlight, you notice a glistening gold chest hidden among the shrubbery.
