I thought STB would be easy because it was a side game. I was wrong.
I thought it was absurdly difficult at first, but when you get used to not needing to stay underneath the boss and learn when you should and shouldn't focus it becomes more manageable, kind of.
Also, defensive shots = godsend

She's still usable, but dear God did her damage plummet.

6-2 is... hmm. K. If you're like me, you hate shots coming at you from the side and behind you, so charge your camera as fast as you can but get right below the incoming bullets so that they're coming at you from above. When time slows down, LET GO of the charging and just focus, which should allow you to move out of the way of some bullets. Once you're out of the way, charge up your camera again and dash off to the next side. You won't always get right beneath, you don't have time. You're going to have to get used to bullets coming at you from a 45-degree angle, but with practice it's manageable.
6-4. Start off at the far left, and move to the right charging your camera. Move out of the way of bullets if necessary. Isn't this three photos? You should have them all by the time you reach the far right.
6-6 brings up mental scars that I'd rather not discuss.... it's easily the hardest of Youmu's cards. That one's pure practice, practice, practice. Remember, stream the large white bullets while being on the lookout for small white ones. Defensive shots are your friend, 'cause Youmu has a nasty habit of staying out of range of your camera, since you're going to be huggin' the bottom of the screen a lot.
6-8 was eh. Start out at the bottom and move upwards charging slowly. It's basically like 6-4, except with horizontal slashes and not verticals. Move like hell if you need to. You're also gonna have to get used to bullets coming up from beneath you, so good luck. o>
By the way, Youmu goes completely insane for the last shot on 6-8, but she also pauses long enough that you should have quite enough time to charge your camera before she comes near you.
Anything/anyone else? I could do this all day. Having a photographic memory has its benefits!

I hate Aya, and fittingly she is the part of Shoot the Bullet I hate the most (specifically, her absurd speed). Still a kickass game though. And congrats Ruro, but I was hoping you had forgotten this was my condition for getting AIM. T_T

After playing the regular Touhou shooters, Aya's movement in StB is frustrating beyond belief. It's amazing how that game manages to make reasonably simple patterns about twice as hard as they should be.
Aya herself is okay though (I have a fondness for crow's legs (http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7103/01673.jpg)).

Congrats Ruro, and finally you've changed your name again. I've been curious about why you didn't do that before, because as far as I seen it, you've changed names weekly before the Parsee one got stuck.
Anyway, Aya is okay, but StB is my kryptonite, I. EFFING. HATE. THAT. SHIT!!! It's the Devil Incarnate, it's a soulless, utterly evil being bent on destroying me. Even if I see its folder in my "Touhou Project" folder, my hands start to boil.

Aya is indeed awesome. Apart from the oft-overlooked fact that a great deal of what we know about Gensokyo and its residents has come directly from her journalistic efforts, she has an independent, happy-go-lucky nature to her that I really like. Sure, she's pals with kappas and gives faith to Kanako, but for the most part it seems like she's on her own, not necessarily aligned to anyone, enjoying everyone's company in general. She's the spirit of Gensokyo, in many ways - feral, carefree, magical - an intriguing fusion of old Japanese myths and legends with modern phenomena, technology and attitudes. And her outfit's pretty cool, too. I just adore her.

Unrelated, have you ever tried shotgunning Hachi? It works ridiculously well, you can hit the main body and all six legs at the same time and usually kill him before the third phase starts up. It consistently kills him no deaths from your savestate. :V I still suck at Hibachi though, haven't done better than a 3cc for the battle as a whole yet.

EX-7 is, I think, sort of counter-intuitive because if you want to survive you have to head towards the places with the highest density of bullets. You take a picture of that and then get a load of camera charge for free, which usually nets you just enough to take the next picture before you get clusterfucked. Also, aside from the beginning section you don't want to be moving the whole way around the screen, just stick to a smaller area depending on how fast you're getting the camera charged.
EX-8... not much advice I can give for that since it's basically just 'dodge bullets'. :V Just remember that the bigger bullets have really small hitboxes, I guess.

Focus and microtap. Although the speed of unfocused movement can come in handy if you want to be all slick and fake out the boss.
EDIT: Ruro, that replay is pretty amazing, but what I watched from your download link has you dying after three photos. Did you upload the wrong one? I'd love to see a replay of you clearing that stage.

I think Aya as the media. But if everything we know about Gensokyo is because of the media, that means that things in Gensokyo is far much better and happier? Like how media only shows disasters, murders and that kinda crap.
Or because, Gensokyo is fueled by disbelief, the disbelief of a "happy media" has embodied within Aya, and what Aya writes in her newspaper are actually a lot more worse in reality.

Canonically, Aya does have a tendency to "improve the truth" in her stories, to make them more entertaining. So maybe things are actually a lot more chill in Gensokyo, and its residents are more personable.

Her "allowing" Utsuho to destroy Gensokyo, as you put it, is kinda refuted by her challenging Utsuho to fight, twice, both before and after making her quip about an interview, and assisting Reimu on her quest to get to the bottom of the story. It seems highly unlikely that she was serious about the interview request in light of these two challenges, and in light of the fact that she lives in freakin' Gensokyo.

What no. :< I'm quite happy with my 5 death clear. Also how many of his attacks have you "captured" so to speak? I've survived all but his first attack and obviously his final attack.

I think the only one I've actually managed is the fourth one. I might have done the third one once, I forget. Most of the time I end up having to bomb everything at least once, though.
Also, I find it quite funny that I might end up 1ccing Hibachi before I 1cc the first loop. :V

I found StB to be way more fun once I had gotten better at Touhou. I picked it up too early and got frustrated around stage 5 and frequently spoke ill of it, and then came back, burned through it straight in about 3 days without any real trouble, and had an absolute blast.
That game probably made me more frustrated than any other Touhou game though :V

I'm one of those people who seems to naturally use their vocabulary in literary pieces to make it seem more professional, so it comes easy. I remember now one of my bigger complaints with Ocarina of Time: The pacing. I'm not saying I want each dungeon to be seperated by 3 hours of other stuff (though I admit Twilight Princess did this pretty well until they said screw it), but I don't think it's a stretch to say even a slow-paced gamer like me could go from finishing Dodongo Cavern to starting Jabu-Jabu's Belly in about 20 minutes. I can't really call this a terrible flaw because it was the first 3d Zelda game and Link to the Past had similar lengths, but I don't buy the whole "it's aged perfectly" schtick.

If Fujin Girl is Wind God Girl, then agreed. I think it's rather cheap to put it against the other songs though since it didn't debut in StB. The sad fact about StB (in my controversial opinion) is that the music gets worse as it goes on. :( Black Eyes (that's the first one, right) is the best while Retrospective Kyoto's the worst.

While I do get (some) bragging rights when I finally "beat" StB, I don't feel like it's worth the effort of putting a few several hours to finish up. Then again, I could always rub it in that I score better than certain other people with no motive for scoring. Hmm...
However, I really like the idea of making people happy by not doing anything other than sitting on my ass (probably) doing something else.

Non-spells have always been my weakpoint. :< Remember how I only beat IaMP lunatic because Yukari's signs broke the AI? It doesn't help that Patchy does a freaking huge amount of damage with all her attacks for some reason. I'm getting better though, realizing that I need to wait for Patchy to attack me, then counterattacking because she is too busy in her animations.
Update! I made it to Reimu of Darkness. \o\ That's good enough for me right now.

I think that the Toho-Fighter AI is blockwhorish and has inhuman reaction time, but doesn't understand the nuances of abusing the game mechanics. The only one I can help with there is something about bullet cover when using physical attacks.

I still haven't managed Patchy without dying at least once, but she's getting to be slightly less of an issue. If I could learn Alice's first spell card I could possibly get through her without dying at all. Marisa's pretty straightforward, but it's hard to get through the whole fight without dying. :(

You think I'm going to let a CATFISH stand in my way?!

Beat Hong Meiling's Story mode on Easy, Normal, and Hard. Nothing really gave me too much trouble this time other than Patchouli in general (but less than before) and Alice's goddamn spear card.

The only attack that could give any trouble is the tackle, and for that one you if you stay away from him he'll use the tackle instead of the jump most of the time so you just have to time your jump to dodge it (or jump early and fly away lol).
His first attack is a joke, his second you just have to stay away from him when he's underground and rush him when he's above, and his third just stay away from him and attack at a safe distance.
There's also his final attack which is hard but you don't really have to beat it (at least I didn't for Hard mode).

Pfffffft, that makes no difference. That'd be like if failing Resurrection Butterfly was good enough for a 1cc; even if/when (because I KNOW I'm going to fail the attack at least once) I fail it and 1cc, it won't feel like I did it because I still lost!
