just a quick question, who build that huge tower and that nether portal close to my glass wall and "mine" entrance?  :V

How can you build or where can you find sponges that absorb water. I had a hard job to get rid of all the water in my tunnel :V I may need it again  :derp:

#2: Sponges are available at a chest at spawn. That is, while they're still available.

I would like to get one, I don't need more (except I die by lava :V, I'm so lucky that all my items will drop in it aswell  :])

-LogBlock records show that Axman36 built both the portal and the tower. You can check it out yourself with either a book or the "/lb toolblock" command.  ;)

-I have restocked the Freebie Chests a fair bit. I don't supply as much sponge as I do clay, in hopes that people would use them sparingly. You can use the sponge to aid your underwater projects, or just to simply get rid of any leaks. You don't have to keep the sponge in place once you have built a suitable barrier against anymore outside water.

Worked fine in the morning, around 10am EST-ish, when Strafe, Raymu_Sandwich, and I were on....

I can FTP into the server at the moment, so all the data is fine, MCMA probably just crashed again.

Odd. The servers are based in Dallas, so it cannot be weather (which would be understandable if the server was on the US East Coast from SC upwards - incoming hurricane/typhoon/cyclone).

EDIT: While we're waiting...ANOTHER SERVER REPORT!

 - Seems PTM has lost its charm, at least when floating islands are involved. Moreover it causes excessive lag for many players - so much that I (one of the victims of this - I hate my laptop for that :V) dubbed it 'Superterranean Lagtasm'. If a new seed is involved for some reason, I believe a mostly vanilla terrain structure will be popular (though I would like to see vast and expansive biomes if that be the case).
 - Many of the developments are being built on the floating islands, while the surface is mostly unused and the mining area a vast amount of territorial disputes. I believe it is due to the mob problems below, one other suspects that it's for livefeed exposure, and a few others insist it's done because of the view. However, that leaves the surface area largely unused by all but explorers, miners, and builders of larger single projects (such as the Church of Mokou and EPFort mk3). Also seems that destroying floating islands, such as what Strafe and I did to the one that housed the arena and anti-Strafe portal, is not even being considered.
 - A new area seems to be settled in the northeast, pointed out by Sunny the Enderman and dubbed 'Ellia' or something of the sort. This is good, I'll say, but they seem to be moving in larger groups and have opted to ignore my rail idea entirely in favour of individual links. No problems with either of those, but place more lights at least...gah, Rukin's Law is at it again.
 - Most importantly, server activity has been quieting down as of late thanks to players' RL activities. TS is almost dead as well.
 - Some of us have gotten a liking for taunting others over the livefeed. This is not a problem if you ask me - it just makes it all the more fun.

Agreed these mountains make exploring extremely difficult due to the massive amounts of mobs caused by the islands.

WE DONT HAVE THE FUNDING TO LIGHT THAT AREA!  That and it's only me who's lighting it... I can only do so much you know >.>

OK. So in other words people aren't going down there because it's too hard. Well, it makes sense considering that most of the people avoiding those areas are also the ones who are heavily criticized by me and PX for not knowing how to light places properly. Just go down there with a LOT of torches, coal, and sticks and light it up on a series of suicide runs - then it'll be significantly easier.

Well I dont know about others but it's difficult for me I know that.  I guess Im just not actively devoting resources to it :V Plus ive been neglecting lighting the area in order to mine more   Ill get on it and properly light with my overabundance of coal I now have

Ticket put in for restart. This is getting annoying. I've asked them if it's a common problem they're having or if I should look into our plugins to see if there's any problems.

Do not fear the lower levels! Charge in and torch that shit up! Still, it's not feasible to make underside areas 100% safe; you'll need to design your buildings with fortifications in mind.

When 1.8 hits I'll install multiple worlds mod and we'll get a second, vanilla-generated world (but with exciting 1.8 features!)

I had a look at server.log and it doesn't say anything other than "closing server" at the time it went down, so ?\(?_o)/?

Why you ask?  Cuz as of late the server has been kinda boring and I'm here to spice things up. 
Am I allowed to?  Well if PX can burn down forests im pretty sure I can hold a little event :V
THE EVENT
Search for the Hidden Chest
Deep within my mines lies a chest filled with some things I personally supplied. It's filled to the brim with cobble. Here have a look at the prize:

The winner can keep all of that plus the chest if they so desire.

How this will work:
All participants will start in a part of ellia picked by me
When I give the signal you will search the sponge on the seafloor searching a block wide hole. 
This will lead to my mine.  And you're on your own from there.  The chest could be anywhere so do your best~.

Rules:
No digging allowed-It's designed so that no one has to break a block to solve this
PVP is allowed
The only materials allowed are: Swords, Armor, and Food

When will it be:
Well it will either be tomorrow or sunday.  However as for the exact time you all need to decide what will work the best for all of you.  I cant even give an estimate since we are all in different timezones.  Edit: It'll most likely be Sunday because it seems like to much short notice to be tomorrow.

If you'd like to participate just post or show up it's that simple.  But I hope you all consider participating because it would be a fun event for all of us. (if i even get participants D:)  I feel I have made this a fair maze and I hope you all enjoy it.(hopefully not too easy)  At the end I would like any feedback good or bad because I think im going to have more of these if this one is even remotely successful.  And that's all for now.  Any questions feel free to ask.

I just realized a flaw.  Since this does take place in ellia it's rather far from spawn.  Therefore if possible you should set up temporary /sethome at ellia for the purpose of this event unless you dont mind riding the rail every time.  Instead of waiting on all of you I've just decided that we will have it at 3pm central Saturday.  If that doesnt work out we will just have it some time Sunday

So now we learn that Shady is following the DDR School of Server Interest Upkeep. Doing this already? I'd have established base and gotten a decent living first!

Just for clarification - Ellia is that place Sunny found earlier and has been colonising. There is a railway NE of spawn to there via the stairs to the Church and across the sea - the station's under some sandy areas and marked by signs.

Also you should've contacted PX at least for the explosive chests

Expected: Everyone moves there, floating islands are just there for supply trips (what happened in Sphere world for 90% of us back on DDR's).

I'd remain cautious about completely moving camp there, seeing what happened to both Sphere and Nether on DDR's server...they were completely reset at least once, meaning that many of our things and work there were lost (in my case, practically every block and item I had was in Sphere at the time of the reset).

While you're at that, I think we should also make another PTM-world which is vanilla in all but one aspect - increased amount of ores underground (alternatively, make the entire world a giant cave). However, to keep the game from becoming too easy, it should also be considered the Anarchy World where everything (including PVP, theft, and griefing) goes, and all activities done there outside of the entryway are done at one's own risk. Also increased mob spawning

Sorry I haven't been active as much this week. I blame Chen Deus Ex.

I like our PTM generated world. The scenery is nice, and it is extremely dangerous. However, I think I'm more partial to vanilla terrain, from the exploration side of things. I'm eager to see how the 1.8 update will affect vanilla worlds (height limit, biome generation, etc.) so we can see how this will impact the way that we play on the server. Namely, whether or not we would have to start fresh. Stuffman says that we'll begin the alternate worlds when 1.8 hits, and that's good for people to colonize whichever terrain they choose.

Here are some options on our world structure through MultiVerse:
-Main: 1.8 vanilla.  Alternate: our current PTM world.
-Main: current PTM world.   Alternate: 1.8 vanilla.
-Main: 1.8 vanilla with schematics from previous worlds.  Alternate: PTM "cave style" Anarchy Zone that EP mentioned. (we lose our current world with this option, hence the schematics)

EP brings up a good point regarding the multiple worlds. Sphere and Nether were somehow reset during the whole griefing incidents toward the end of DDR's server. Chances are, the MCMA backups only saved the main worlds files, and not the others. Fortunately, we can manually save a copy of the alternate worlds' files as our backup method to prevent anything similar happening to us.

As of right now, everything about 1.8 and our server is speculation. We'll just have to see. I'll be keeping regular backups of our shit just in case.

Also a fan of the terrain minus the lag issues on lower-spec systems. Keeps the game interesting!

Hm, if 1.8 even comes to height changes that also adjust the terrain generation (eg. mountains exceed 128 block limit by themselves, ores start higher up, boosted sea level to layer 96 or 128), then I'll be in favour of a fresh start.

Favouring Main B for the moment. We can wait on the Anarchy Zone for now - I suggested it since (A) PX and Rizock's Anarchy Land was hard to define underground and (B) people on DDR's server once discussed the idea of having a cave world. Moreover we're still setting the rules for Anarchy zones (eg. no LWC or LB use allowed, don't carry or make what you can't afford to lose, no killing in the 'spawn' area, and no use of /home or /spawn - going by DDR's server, it is possible to have different permissions depending on which world you're in, so this isn't too hard to implement).
