I played the Japanese version way-back-when, and to think that it got a localized release over Steam.

It's quite interesting.

Breaking it down against other things, 20 bucks is amazing if you like the demo.

Most games'll net you... what... like... eight-at-most (excluding multiplayer!) hours until you put it away nowadays? Hell, I logged... like... seven hours on it just today.

And they were very, very painful hours. Damn 30k debt...

EDIT: Also, I can't bring myself to overcharge the little girl. She's too cute. And too needing of crap I forget to pick up. :|

At least you didn't fail the first week like I did, I had three of those thankful statues for some unknown reason and failed to meet the 10,000 mark by around 3,000.
Stupid people refusing to buy the statues at even a 10% markup.

Wow Recettear is still number 3 on Steam's top seller list.  If that's not a positive statement towards more doujin games I don't know what else could be.  And the translation group (Carpe Fulgur, staffed by SomethingAwful goons) behind it did a fantastic work preserving the quirky and cute relationship Tear and Recette have.

It's fun, but the dungeons can be punishing if you aren't prepared. Those tentacle things can ruin your day in record time.

Played and LOOOOVED the demo. Will be starting it after I finish Amnesia, Ar Tonelico 2, Bioshock, Borderlands, Company of Heroes, ES: Oblivion, Fallout 3: BoS, GTA 4, and Mass Effect.

I tried out the demo a few days ago and while it was somewhat fun, it's not really my type of game. The majority of it is just playing around with a number counter and the occasional dungeon crawl doesn't really offer anything I've seen done better elsewhere. I don't even know how you can make 10000 Pix in 8 days.
