Otakon 2016 - A Farewell to Baltimore

It's that time again.

Otakon's moving to DC next year, so come on by this year to say farewell to the Inner Harbor as we do our usual shit one last time.

Touhou Panel is currently on the website as scheduled for 1:15 PM Sunday, but since I will have been gone for over an hour by that time, we got it rescheduled for 10:15 AM the same day.

Nice.  Also means it doesn't overlap with the concert!

HEY OTAFRIENDS

The panel does overlap with the Live Art Auction though, I've made it in the last two years as does my super talented friend and crafter-in-arms and I have a feeling this year's gonna be good in that regard...

(cat not for sale sry)

Also I think this is the first year I'm not bothering to cosplay????????  Maybe I'll throw Time Mage in the suitcase if I'm feeling sassy.

HEY OTAKIDS
HALLO FRINDS

This year's Otakon is neatly overlapping with lots of general life busy-ness and moving so all of my costumes are either packed away by choice, lack of free time, or are too hot to  justify wearing in Baltimore's summer heat. Guess I'm just up for hanging out this year? ?\_(ツ)_/?

I expect that only Captain America and The Superior Hifuu will be making an appearance for me this year. I might throw in Orange as a third if I have room but I don't really expect to want to. I've no idea what state Miko is in, only that she was oddly uncomfortable at AB, so I'm not in a rush to drown in my own sweat while wearing her.

(I literally planned which when around "I can take the jacket off for Shizuma when I go foods on Friday and pack a nice non-cosplay for Forno on Saturday", lol. And then it ended up that the proper shoots for each are the other way around orz. Though the Touken Ranbu shoot is noon-thirty on the terrace on Friday so fuck no I have no desire to stand around out there like that either day given the forecast.)

Only reason I didn't instabuy the game when it came out last August was my (still-extant) ridic backlog. I'm glad the anime ended up being real good too, I enjoyed it so much this past winter season.

I noticed. Peace on Heinessen, true freedom for all men.

On a related note, a lot of the good panels I scoped out are either before noon or after midnight all throughout the con. At least I'll be light on my feet this year.

That's the first and last time I bring my mahjong set. Getting stopped at security is both hilarious and frustrating for something they have never seen before.

Leaving an important part of your costume at home does not make for an amazing cosplay, I speak from experience.

As simple and tame as my con experience was, I still had a fun time. I still miss making stuff and showing off my work, though.

Here's the pics I got from the two photoshoots. Didn't take any from the panel, though, sadly. Was too in awe of the brand new touhou player nearly perfecting Stage 1 Normal of DDC No Focus ("Hold shift to move more precisely!" *dies*)

This Otakon was a blast for me, saw lots of cool cosplays, even did one myself for once, and it felt like I had a hard time standing still with so many interesting things about.

Oh, and thanks Kilga for my new title, I loved that one at the photoshoot. :3
