Meenah mentioned that because Aranea interfered with the ring, it created a doomed timeline. Aranea was well aware of this and didn't care because her ultimate goal had little to do with timelines at all.

There's basically no doubt IMO that they're going to figure out a way to return to the alpha timeline. However, it might be as simple as "WHOOPS JOHN POOFED BACK AND CHANGED SOMETHING, new timeline!"
Also, I wonder when Hussie's going to return to the Jade/Calliope thing that was going on right before the gigapause.

My instincts tell me that it'll take more than John's retcon-powers. Doomed timelines follow the rule that "anything that happens, stays happened", inasmuch as a doomed timeline happens when something/someone/some information travels back in time to the Alpha Timeline from within the doomed timeline and changes things, whereas John makes things un-happen without any information coming from the alternate timeline (c.f. the argument between Dave and Grimbark Jade), and I think we've spent a little too long in the current doomed timeline, and too many things of consequence have happened, to just "erase" it like that.

No, that's not a rule; sure, you -can- make doomed timelines by doing this, but there's also things like Rose and Dave coming back from the doomed timeline where Vriska tricked John into getting murdered by his denizen and changing stuff up. Rose merged with her alpha timeline self or whatever and gained a bunch of knowledge (iirc? This might be horribly off mark but that was literally years ago), and Dave became his own ghostsprite.

She was such a horrible person at first, but it was sad seeing her die (dear god that was forever ago!) because it was just as she was starting to overcome most of her issues and become a really cool person. Also hoooo boy having living!Vriska around for endgame will be a thing... checking backwards from the ???? retconpoint reminds me that it was actually heavily implied she might have been strong enough to defeat Jack by herself.

Yes, two Lord Englishes, and each one is wielding one of the things that my be able to finish his machinations - the one destroying reality with the white gun/wand and Jack English with the crowbar. The latter having the power to destroy jujus... like Lil Cal, who has just solidified why he's the Most Important Character in Homestuck, in the Mental Breakdown flash.
Though I'm pretty sure beating the shit out of Cal with it plus blasting him with the White Weapon probably won't be enough... perhaps even if Vriska does steal the sun... after all, John's plan to go beat the crap out of Caliborn fails... at least the iteration of it he forsees in The Masterpiece that puts English together in Cal in the first place does, anyway.

Fefeta probably still blew up like before, I don't remember if Erisol died? This probably isn't terribly far after them dealing with Jane/Jade. Since their session is weird, who knows what's up with the platform being around (It's probably just always around, at least in their session type), we'll probably get the current situation summed up in tomorrow's update. I doubt they have the tadpole but it's possible? They still need to put the proper Battlefield around Skaia anyway, which Jade has to be not-possessed to do. Probably.
With the Condesce and possessed Jack around though it wouldn't really be a good time to set it up tho. Since Dirk isn't back and Jane still looks possessed/Jade is still asleep, I highly doubt they've dealt with those two yet either.

Ah right. I saw the destroyed Prospit with a severed moon and my mind instantly went to when Jack Noir severed it and crashed it into Skaia.
Without Gamzee being active to actually access Jake and Roxy's kernelsprites them being prototyped at all seemed unlikely. Vriska only prototyped Tavros because she felt responsible for his death and ARquisprite because he's awesome. Extra lives are good though. Probably. I'm probably getting stuff wrong but I've been out of the loop ever since the vriskapause.

Rose's issues aren't very serious imo since drinking got kicked, but in order to get past what she does have (issues with authority, typical rebellious teen type etc, it's not really a big deal though?) she probably has to face herself, I guess! LITERALLY.

all of the ghosts that were made from the deaths in Game Over (+ its timeline) have re-appeared/been gathered, thanks to Terezi's Mind powers. Oh and her making amends with the Vriska from her ghost's timeline. Y'know because the present timeline's Vriska stole Meenah. Bittersweet feels!
We'll probably find out more when the comic starts updating again in a couple of months. Maybe.

Whoops, I said I was going to make an update about the pause soon, but then I accidentally forgot this website existed for several weeks. Sorry about that! But then again, pause announcements aren't very exciting, and I already told you there would be a pause, so it PROBABLY doesn't matter much? Anyway, here it is. The Omegapause Announcement.
If you go by page count, Homestuck is about 99% done. The remaining 1% will involve another stretch of pages, and some heavy animation work, which I probably won't even start for another month or two, as I catch up with some other work. In case it hasn't seemed obvious by now, I'm not in much of a hurry anymore. The manic rates of production this site used to enjoy will not be revisited. I won't be making 13+ minute animations in six weeks anymore. (That is very fast, if you didn't know.) All remaining content will be created at a pace more in keeping with the spirit of sanity. It will be done when it's done.
As for when that is, I don't have any concrete projections. Maybe it will all drop some time next year? Hmm, seven acts in seven years... sounds pretty good to me! Maybe it will work out that way. I guess we will have to wait and see. I think it will be good though. If it was going to be bad, you'd be watching it tomorrow.
In other news, the entries for the We Love Fine Shirt Design Contest are in, and ready for votes. There are a bunch of good ones! Thanks to all who submitted a design.

Bumping since we're about a month out until the end of Homestuck (ostensibly).
I decided that now would be a good time to do a reread, so I've been slowly going back through it. Currently in act 5, and it's really kind of amazing how fast the plot moves and how relatively easy is to keep track of everything before the disaster that act 6 has been. I'm not even sure if I'll be able to make it through the rest of the comic after Cascade, since I just don't give much of a crap about any character introduced after it save for Meenah and maybe Roxy.

I, for one am stoked for the final parts of Homestuck finally reaching their completion and will gleefully be reading through every word of it.
It's kind of frustrating it didn't come sooner, granted; but that was The Fine Gentlemen's fault, running away with the game dev money he was given (and using it on making the King's Quest revival instead), which forced Hussie to have to do it mostly himself and the workload of both things at once was what caused all of this waiting and waiting and waiting. But now in a month or two the waiting should and probably will be over at last.
Can't wait!

Yeah, that whole situation with the original dev was really shitty, but we're still talking about Act 6 taking four and a half years to complete.
Acts 1 through 5 were finished in something like two and a half, for comparison.

Yeah but hussie's pace was utterly superhuman up til act 6, NOBODY has EVER put out that much content that fast for as long as he did, you couldn't really expect him to keep that up forever. I do agree that hiveswap basically killed homestuck though

I guess this was the point I was trying to get at. Act 6 has less than 300 fewer individual pages than the rest of the comic combined, so it's of approximately equivalent length, and the story was just straight up worse. The fact that it took even longer to get through Act 6 definitely didn't help matters much.

This had been evident for a while, yeah. I wonder if act 6 was intended to be much shorter than it actually wound up being.
With that said, there's still plenty of good content in act 6, so I can't actually say as a whole that I disliked reading it.

Act 6 was a big reason why I started losing interest-- I felt that introducing the parallel troll cast was not only unnecessary, but disrupted the story and made it drag on for much longer than it ever needed to. That's not to say the content is bad, it's just that it really pulled me out of enjoying it.

I'm not sure what I actually expected, but it wasn't an 18 minute glorious romp through hamsteak's entire roster. Each individual fight exceeded my expectations, and the way they often interacted with each other was fun.
Huss made the right call just putting the whole thing on youtube this time around <_<
There was so much shit in this update that I'm gonna have to watch it again later.

Having rewatched it and flipped through the thoughts of some People Who Actually Remember Details About The Plot,
it appears that Collide may be a setup for something much bigger than EOA7 (or the week's worth of updates we're about to get) can forseeably cover. Perhaps a tie-in to Hiveswap, or Hussie's next work?

Killing Lord English and making the new universe I guess? Hussie has said in the past Act 7 is supposed to be -really- short. Like, "I wasn't surprised to hear he's posting it all in one day" short. The concept is slightly hard to grasp after Act 6 turned into this massive monster.
Collide hardly even started the battle against LE, Vriskers was so busy punching Hussie's face she never took out the weapon that makes him not invincible.

Well, probably because
it was really Lil' Cal. Gamzee was simply in his proximity, and became Lil' Cal's herald and eventually one of the main ingredients for Cal to become LE.

"Forever" is subjective thanks to Weird Time Shit. He eventually will get out of that fridge and meet Caliborn and help him with his quest and eventually be bisected and sucked into Cal, thereby closing that particular stable loop.

It's hard to feel that this is the ending given that Huss has already said there will be an epilogue, so we'll see what else comes of it. Regardless, I'm glad it's over and happy it wasn't a surprise fuck-you ending.

the final battles happened and all the good guys won with no losses except some double-dead ghosts, and then everything went according to plan and they won the game.
ironically, that is simultaneously the last thing I expected, and also the most boring outcome possible. :T

I was personally hoping for more dramatic tension to fuck with the heartstrings, but I can't say I'm disappointed with the ending. I feel neutral to it overall, I suppose-- hopefully the epilogue will tie up some more loose ends.
As for killing kids constantly, at least we know they can't stay dead for long thanks to Dave's time shenanigans, like in [ s ] collide

I caught up with most of the story through my saved bookmarks of important parts and animations, and both this and collide have been quite an emotional roller-coaster for me. Mostly the fact that it ended.... huh, I followed this for 6 years. An end of an era... Still got some shivers in my bones.

I might be one of the only people glad that Homestuck ended on a relatively 'calm' note. The comic and fandom has -really- thrown me for a loop in the past, and I was getting ready for literally anything to happen in that ending. Up to and including real-life reality warping nonsense or Sburb being sent to people's houses, etc. I guess there's still the epilogue..
And Dave Jade and Karkat at the end together is more than I could have hoped for really, given that they're my ot3 and I love poly nonsense.
