ReplayHi, it's been a while. I picked up this game a few weeks ago and have been riding my way to a new PB. Surprisingly, despite the over 100mil improvement, this run is quite littered with mistakes. The first one was suboptimization of the stage 4 grazes. Most notably the opener. I lost like 13k CherryMAX from that, and later popped an early border on lily due to a... survival mistake...
There was also an embarrassing death on Lunasa's opener. I've since changed my approach to that, needless to say...
In stage 5, I was unable to get the extra Youmu border due to having to expend an extra bomb in stage 4. I also suboptimized the post-midboss border as usual.
When I got to stage 6, I knew 2.8bil was possible, but I wanted a PB so badly I decided not to aim for it. I played Yuyuko extremely safely, suboptimizing every graze barring Resurrection Butterfly where I did the i-frame trick as usual. I was surprised at missing a border on hirokawa. I have never had that issue before in all of my playtime, so I wasn't prepared for such a thing. That border bonus would have pushed me up to 2.8bil. Feelsbadman. And actually, if I had been able to graze Hirokawa with a border, I'd have had well over 1.5mil cherryMAX. Instead I ended with a strikingly low 1.49mil.
Still, I'm otherwise satisfied with this PB. Even if it had 2.8bil, it still would have had the suboptimal Yuyukos and the stage 4 mistakes...
When I go for my next PB, I will actually try to optimize Yuyuko. That means doing that scary high up on the screen Hirokawa strat. But I've practiced it! A bunch! Actually, in all truth, I feel like Yuyuko's third spell is the hardest to optimize, because of the random nature of the RNG angle of the large blue balls. Feels like if they angle weirdly and overlap badly, you're forced to miss graze. But I know that's no excuse. There must be methods to bypass that, which I'll try to deduce.
Actually, I really don't have much I need to work on for 3bil in terms of routing. My stages 1-3 are definitely sufficient, with 650k CherryMAX going out of stage 3 enough to hit that goal.
I need to learn to optimize my stage 4 grazing, as I'm still a consistent 20k-30k CherryMAX behind reaching prismrivers just from grazing alone on s4. I need to figure out how to optimize the prismriver first spell using the note hugging method. I need to improve my post-youmu midboss in stage 5. And then I need to figure out Butterfly Delusion.
That's it. That's really just it. One I do that, I can really hope for 3bil potential pace credits. PCB is my passion project, and I really wanna get this goal!
