ReplayNot the real reason for posting. It should go under the accomplishments thread I guess, but after being around this long I think it's only underselling myself and would waste a call to attention. Still, it's a first and it got me racing, and that makes me happy enough to say something about it rather than quietly submit it to the uploader.
Okay so, a few days ago someone got me interested in EoSD no-bomb runs. I had to ask myself, what are the main obstacles and how likely is the player to succeed when a few stars align? The stages should be no hassle aside from the books, and that was that.
First go (because first go and beginner's luck obviously matter so much) in the morning went farther than expected. A miss to the stage portion of three because of no practice and two more to stage five. The first of those two because I stood on the wrong side when cheesing through the stage up top and a fairy bodyslammed me. The second because the bullets wouldn't clear the screen after the reduced rank and I couldn't sit as low as I wanted to for the aimed section. Might have been able to do it anyway if I paid more attention. That was about it for easily preventable deaths. Jack the Ludo Bile is iffy because dying to it gives you a free pass for the following noncard. Killing Doll didn't fully recover from the rank drop so that was a capture as well. Anyway, I only entered stage six with two lives or something so I already considered myself boned. The stage run was pretty favorable though, but I'll gladly pick up those extra lives in the likely case that it won't always be so forgiving.
That attempt. So I tried a few more runs but died early on for silly reasons. Called it quits.
Tried again at night. So everything's refreshed and I can at least pull off one more fortunate first try again before it degenerates into restart hell. Died to endstage China's third noncard (ehhh...remember to move through unfocused), then the books (almost lived), then Killing Doll. My excitement was already rising during endstage Sakuya's battle (and while hanging out at the top of the stage), and after seeing how many lives I had at the end I went ballistic. "I didn't go through enough pain and suffering to be feeling like this!" A minute for deep breaths. Didn't help that much. I won't talk about the stage because it was far from impressive. Entered with five spare lives and blew every single one of them. Even died to the bubble streaming phase because I couldn't hold it in ("wish I was streaming to the left").
ScreenReplayOf course I'm happy to have done this, but in hindsight it's not something to be that proud of. That was like the bare minimum of no-bomb 1CCs. I think EoSD Lunatic no-bomb runs are really accessible (Reimu-B at least) and more people should give it a shot. It's cruel in some locations, but everything else is pretty easy to get the hang of.
Oh yeah, I've never submitted anything for Reimu-B.

Now I hate this run.
