Welcome to the Pastel-iest Patisserie. I still like drawing Touhous.

2012

I was trying to make a doujin, but failed in the process.
The only thing I managed to draw is this
I'll post the finished version someday - 3 - ~

During 2010-2012 I LIVED for sayori's (of nekopara fame) artwork. The resemblance here is quite obvious.

Oops, I forgot to draw her eyebrows. Ahahaha.
(And I always draw them in the same pose, agh, I'll try to fix it soon, I swear ;__;)

Constructive criticism is always welcome ? 3 ? !

I wanted to break away from sayori's influence, but didn't know how  :ohdear:. Young artists struggle a lot with finding their particular style instead of working on the fundamentals. Once I understood that style develops along the way and that after a certain point, everything you draw comes off looking a certain way, I sat back and started studying figure drawing as was suggested in this very thread. I STILL have a lot to study, of course, but I think I've come a long way!

I'll only post my most recent favorites! As always, constructive criticism is very very welcome.

2018

2019

This is part of a piece I did for Fantasy Extravaganza. I think my love for Hatate has grown with the years lol.

Cute-aka. To the people who hate yellow: I'm so sorry yr wrong.

This Hinarin was done for a tumblr user! Hina will always be a favorite of mine.

I spend a RIDICULOUS AMOUNT of time on each piece so I thought "what if I just simplify  everything??" and this is the result. It looks a little Wonky because it's, uh, experimental I guess? lol. It was well received so I took it a little further with the following illust. Plus! I've always loved blocky hands and wanted to draw them like that!

Have I said that I Love Hatate? Because I Love Hatate.

This post will be edited as I release more stuff; thank you for viewing and please leave a comment if you liked any of this!

A comprehensive figure drawing experience would go a long way for your development as an artist.

I would suggest this book.

Keep working at it! You can do it!
As the ancient myth makers knew, we are children equally of the earth and the sky. The sky calls to us. We can enhance life and come to know the universe that made us, or we can squander our 15 billion-year heritage in meaningless self-destruction. If we do not destroy ourselves, we will one day venture to the stars.

The cosmos is full beyond measure of elegant truths; of exquisite interrelationships; of the awesome machinery of nature. When he found that his long cherished beliefs did not agree with the most precise observations, he accepted the hard truth to his dearest illusions.

Thank you. I like a lot your comment and I will try to get that book ;O; and practice!
Again, thank you very much!

Ha ha, not really. But thank you, it means a lot to me ;____;!

Sorry for the delay, I've been busy (I'm always busy D:, but I've been busier these past months lol) and I haven't been able to update - nor draw - anything.
I found this drawing of Seiga I made last year. I used watercolours, but you'll see my skill is limited D:. I didn't want to come here empty-handed, so...

Once more,  thank you for your comments!

Edit,
I forgot this... useless thing I made. I guess that's how my mind looks like :l

Ohh colorful art, nice job, Hinarin  :derp: . And someone give this gurl the artist tag? :P

When I draw something with watercolours the only thing that I can do is to make the paper dirty or make a hole on it :(

Haha, don't worry. There are plenty of artists who draw better than me and if I kept thinking about it, I wouldn't make much progress...
Thank you. And nope, but she's a pretty good artist! I'm jealous ;A;.

I haven't done anything recently, but I guess I can recycle things I've posted on my ig account  :] (So, yeah, shitty filters included. I♥love♥filters).

YAYoi. I was gonna use this for a gift (as part of a set of drawings) but I couldn't finish them on time. And later I thought that my drawing wasn't that good, in fact I was afraid that the person might not like it.
But, anyway, I finished it and experimented with a slightly different style :J.

I've started to do more digital stuff. Now I prefer it over traditional, dunno why.

I also wanted to re-make something old, so I picked Hatate. Ohh, Hatate, yasssss.

Thank you very much, Freexe-Ex! I have been experimenting a bit.

Recent:

I can spot some common mistakes I make, like Hina's super large head x___x.  But I'm working on that!

That tumblr palette challenge. I still have a looooooong way to go with colors.

Oh god, it's been YEARS since I've posted here :o. I decided not to start a new thread and edit the OP instead to showcase my most recent artwork -- if the mods think it's better not to revive threads like this, please notify me and feel free to lock this down.

Lately, I've been thinking of the most valuable advice I've received regarding my art and this particular comment came to mind:

A comprehensive figure drawing experience would go a long way for your development as an artist.

I would suggest this book.

Keep working at it! You can do it!

I'm very thankful to this person for recommending me Loomis and for straight up telling me "you need to work in yr anatomy". I think this kind of advice isn't given out as easily nowadays... when it's really, really useful. I updated the OP with my new stuff if anyone's interested!

What a lovely thing your art has evolved into! Do you have any tumblr Twitter Instagram accounts or any for your drawings?

I probably need to hit those anatomy books again after so long, this is good motivation.

Hi, Mea! I'm so glad to know that this has inspired you to go back to drawing! I recommend Loomis' Fun With a Pencil to get back -- it makes re-starting yr anatomy studies so much easier & fun. And I'm super flattered! Here are my tumblr and my twitter accounts :D.
