Title: Touhou Musou Kakyou Episode 2 due in 2012 (Released at C82)

Since the original thread hadn't been updated for over a year, I decided to make a new one.

So Musou Kakyou ep. 2 wasn't released in 2011, but it might be released in 2012. I personally expect a C82 release, since we've been waiting for a long time already, but we'll see about that.

Maikaze will release the "Opening PV" at Reitaisai 9.

Yay! Good to see something come out for Musuo Kakyou. Have been waiting for that since 2011 lol. Kinda almost forgot about it with the Fantasy Kaleidoscope EP II due in a week

I'd like to know what the title of that song is too. Still, I have a feeling that the song itself was arranged specifically for Musou Kakyou. I think that was how it was for the OP of the first video. Not sure what the original theme is, could be Last Remote.

That aside, what do you all think about the chances of there being an all-star cast of seiyuu like last time?

Well from my Twitter knowledge, he's VERY BUSY with college stuff. Though I've seen some people on there ask him about the Hori-ZUN some time ago. So it's anyone's guess at this point.

When I saw the first episode, I knew zero Japanese.

Now I know enough to understand the plot without subtitles.

I wonder how much will happen by the time episode 3 is released...

My opinion on new episode - disapointing.

Theres good things about it, I just found how slow the progression is after so long to wait pretty disapointing.

Well, If Maikaze releases another in a short time, then it might cover this..

It's been so long since the first episode was released. Actually, the thought of it is somewhat mind-blowing...

On another note, an English dub would be more than a blessing. About how long would it take until someone uploads a dubbed version? I'm somewhat dying to see this borderline-fabled episode that we've waited for so long.

Well, the previous episode was slow as hell - the first half of it was everyone figuring out that Reimu's donation box had been stolen.

Aho-Taku has subbed ep2, and done a pretty good job of it. The seiyuu cast is pretty incredible, too (Rie Tanaka as Sakuya? Oh hell yes). And the in-jokes were fun, even if the dialogue seemed kinda wooden at times. My complaint would be that, within the context of a 12-ep series, it's already off to a really slow start, and within the context of "we have no idea how many of these will be made, or when each ep gets released", I think they should be using more than a simple cliffhanger to keep people interested. The jokey banter between the characters is fun, though.

So I'll summarize my thoughts on the new episode by copy+pasta what I said in #scarlet-library:

The only things worth mentioning are the animation, music, and voice acting. There's entirely no plot, and I'm okay with that.
But since they're obviously trying to have some kind of comprehensive overarching storyline, they, uh, failed. Badly.

Expect 2-3 new Touhou games if we wait for a few more years again.

About the new Maikaze ep, yes, story progression is really slow. I'm seeing a more-like slice of life of Gensokyo residents if you ask me. A rather disappointment.

Honestly, I don't mind Touhou ever having an anime. I always have the though of "How an anime might ruin something good".  It's not very rare to see anime adaptations ruin good light novels/mangas.

Regardless of the nagging misgivings I may have, my ultimate opinion will always be that we should be glad anyone is even attempting these in the first place, considering how ever-so-very frequently stuff like this turns up.

Yeah ... I did not approve of some of the fanon interpretations there. "Not-quite-so-perfect-and-elegant-Sakuya" made me sigh, NEET-Kaguya was somewhat irritating, and when
Marisa was visiting Patchouli, and found a doll and promptly recalled some sort of Mysterious Stalker
I literally said "Oh, shit."

I mean ... at least it's not Touhou Project Side Story, but ...

Well, their project, their interpretations, just move on if you didn't like it. For a fan-project I'd wager it's still quite awesome.

Well, I don't care much for the moe Touhou interpretation, but I thought it was great regardless. It must be such a massive effort to pull off whole episodes, and I was impressed it was better than I was expecting. From the first episode alone, the quality has improved by a tenfold. The story pace is still slow, but I didn't find it tedious as I did the first.
I'm looking forward to the next episode, but disappointedly I don't know when that could be.

As much as I didn't like it in terms of story, it's okay, but in the end, I'm just glad there are people will to put their entire time, effort and money to make a doujin touhou anime a reality. And because of that, I still like it overall for that fact that they are willing to do so.

In terms of characters, like I said, I don't mind fanon interpretation of them, I just didn't like how for the most part a lot of them seem bored or stressed, so they can't really show themselves as much (Like Marisa and the first half of Tewi and even Sakuya, though I don't really care about her anyways, she's imperfect anyways :V)

Ye I know. But just don't get what people mean by it when they always use it to describe a  touhou fanwork.
I've played all the games and read most of the official works and the series is pretty moe to me.

I don't get what other peoples' pure interpretation of the series is.

I gotta be honest; I think I enjoyed the first ep a bit more. I can deal with a slow plot (I thoroughly enjoyed Legend of the Galactic Heroes after all), but the forth wall breaking and dumb moe shit came off as painfully forced. Honestly, didn't need that Reisen panty shot either. I am liking the Patchy/Marisa/Alice plot thread though.
